[Q] MGLDR Boot AD SD builds - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello,
I want to boot SD ROM with MGLDR Boot AD SD and after some tests only too ROMS work.
[SD] BOYPPC_SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4 Sense.s V9 (14.May) freezes always on lockscreen
[SD.Magldr] isaiah12345 v3.2 200 haven't mobile data (APNs dont work)
Others ROMS haven't data.img but system.ext2.
I've understand that :
- if there is a data.img, i just boot AD SD whith nand_boot=1 and rootfs.img modified if needed,
- if there is not data.img (system.ext2 ROMS), i wait around 30minutes after boot AD SD whith nand_boot=1 and rootfs.img modified if needed.
I've test to copy a data.img in a folder whith system.ext2 file and the boot AD SD boot my nand ROM bootscreen and freeze and my nand ROM don't boot no more (thanks recovery backup ^^), why ?
is it possible the boot AD SD crash my NAND build with nand_boot=1 in startup.txt ?
EDIT : finally just MIUIs ROMS work and [SD.Magldr] isaiah12345 v3.2 200 but without mobile data.
Why not more ???

Can't install sense roms.

Hmm, a wierd problem here. I have real difficulty installing Sense roms. I can easily install CM7 roms for example.
With sense roms I either just get stuck on the boot logo for the rom, experience reboot loops while installing or installing it in CWR just hangs at 50%.
I'm using BOYPPC_Sense 3.0 V6 at the moment and have also tried "Android GBLeoR3 | SMOOTHEST HD2 ROM | 2.3.3SENSE2.1 [MUST HAVE][Hieros1.7.2]"
Both of the above just won't install via CWR or just hang at the boot logo. Here's what I've done:
-Task29
-MAGDLR/RADIO
-Flash the CORRECT partition layout for CWR as provided from the rom authors.
-Format SD card in FAT32 and then use Gparted to make a EXT partition/OR use CWR to make the ext partition.
-Copy the ROM to the sd card
-CWR now fails to install the rom it hangs at 50%! argh! To fix this I format the entre SD card as FAT32 which allows the ROM to install. But then I get stuck on the boot logo for around an 1hour before I give up and pull the battery.
I really am stuck. I'm using an EU HD2.
Thanks all.
Your problem is that you're too impatient.
Sense roms are allot bigger then CM7 and also they need to extract/uncompres files and also move data to SD card partition, especially if you use a EU HD2.
The reboots during install and hang at install % are normal on some sense roms.
Format your card and then use CWM to partition it with a 1GB partition and 0 swap and then use HD2 toolbox to flash the needed partition/cache for your ROM and then flash the zip and WAIT.
[edit] just noticed you say its taking 1hour. That isnt normal.
Do as I suggest though, start over.
Task 29.
Install MAGLDR. (Use HD2 Tool)
Repartition to needed partition/cache. (Use HD2 Tool).
Partition SD card, using CWM, set 1GB partition and 0 swap.
Transfer your zip or other needed files and then flash rom and wait.
Urgh, thanks buddy. Looks like you were right. Left it flashing the .ZIP in CWR until it finished rather than thinking it had frozen lol.
All working now. THanks again

Running SD version of ICS

Hi All,
I'm using NAND Hyperdroid CM7 on my HD2, notice that there is a port of ICS and I would like to give it a try. Knowing that it is still not very stable, I don't think I will keep it for daily use, but just would like to 'taste' it first.
Since it requires 200MB system partition while I'm using 150M only, and I don't want to flash ICS and then back to CM7. I would like to know, if I run SD version of ICS, will it corrupt my NAND CM7 and those installed stuffs on SDcard and SD-ext?
I know I can make a system backup using MAGLDR, and using a blank new SD card, should it be a better idea??
Thanks.
hello, i think if u use a SD build u could not modify ur Nand build. I don't try an ICS sd build but i use a miui sd build and no pb.
it's only on the sd.
I have this CM7 build in NAND:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395049
and this ICS on SD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437463
I use only one SD card (16 GB class 10) and everything works fine. I made a backup with Titanium Backup and after instaling ICS I restore all my apps and everything works like in CM7 build.
HD2 EU Radio 2.15.50.14
Thanks........I've tried the same ICS but after boot from SD in MAGLDR, it soon reboots and return to CM7, what is missing?

After reboot your phone goes to NAND (CM7) normally. To boot ICS you have to go MAGLDR and choose SD boot. Before that you have to configure MAGLDR to boot from ICS folder just first time.
If you do that correct and if you unzip initrd.gz before replacing I have no idea what else is missing.

Is any way for NATIVESD on photon

HD2 can boot on SDcard faster than on NAND .
I tried to use initrd.gz and zImage of recovery of munjeni and it run. However, to intall rom on Nativesdcard we have to port this with scrip as HD2.

Devs, can you port this recovery ? many thanks

[Q] keep WP7 and switch between android Roms

Hi all
I have HTC HD2 EU , I installed WP7 and Android (Parandroid witch is a good one ) with dualboot ; thanks to all developpers .
Now I want to keep WP7 and switch to other android roms using 4ext correctly (or CWM) , like BOXMAX Rom installatio
How install
- must have 2 part ext4 ... use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" for Re Partition:
1- First Partition "Fat 32" "Primary" (mmcblk0p1)
2- Second Partition "Primary" "Ext4" for system 1gb or 680mb (mmcblk0p2)
3- Third Partition "Primary" "Ext4" for data 1gb (mmcblk0p3)
- use this recovery and boot it from haret or Magldr SD ...
- before flash rom : wipe and format for sd-ext & sd-ext2 from recovery menu then :
- flash rom .
I found a lot of threads but for nand android .
Thanks
I tried some threads , get into 4ext recovery and off course I deleted WP7 , but when started Android ( BOXMAX NATIVE SD) it stuck on boot image for more than 40 min !
I installed WP7 again and Android ( parandroid ) .
keep waiting for help !
You have your answer right within your post, " use this recovery and boot it from haret or Magldr SD ..."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337663
Are you using the SD recovery from here https://app.box.com/s/jh2w3keom4x81p1qsw8f which is linked in those instructions?
It sounds like you are flashing 4ext recovery (CWM) and therefore wiping your wp7 in nand.
The sd recovery boots from magldr ad sd.
If you want to triple boot paranoid nativesd, boxmax directsd and wp7, you might want to increase the size of your first sd-ext partition to say 1.5 or 2Gb. So that you have;
fat32 (size=whatever is leftover) first (primary)
EXT4 size 1.5 or 2Gb second (primary)
EXT4 size 1Gb third (primary)
WP7 (whatever you choose) fourth (primary)
Thank you a lot for your answers and your time ,
Now I have dualboot WP7 in nand (4.5 G) and Parandroid Rom in the sd with very easy install .
I only want dualboot , keep WP7 in nand , than use 4ext recovery to wipe Parandroid Rom and flash BOXMAX Rom ( as said in instructions here ) in sd , because when I tried partition with 4ext recovery when flashing BOXMAX Rom I wiped my WP7 from nand :silly: .
How to flash the BOXMAX rom using 4ext recovery without deleting nand ,step by step plz if possible ?
