Your wildfire for ZTE BLADE swap, no rooting problems - Wildfire General

Hey there, I have a new ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco, barely used just rooted with bland CM7 Stable on it,
I wanted to know if anyone is interested in swapping their Wildfire for the ZTE Blade. I'm not bothered if the phone is 2.2 running hboot 1.01 or not, if anything I would prefer that it was hboot 1.01 as I intend on working on the hboot 1.01 for a solution.
Only requirements are that it be in a good condition, preferably running HTC stock rom oh and can be posted to the UK or Europe.
More details can be given just ask and I'll post this in the marketplace also, thanks.

New to Magic on Rogers.. what do I need to know?

Ok, I will admit I am a total noobie with Android based phones. I have been on the Blackberry platform for years.
I just got my magic yesterday.
To my knowledge it has not been updated yet.
How would I go about seeing if it can be rooted? And what is the best way to get it rooted, if it can be?
I am an IT guy, I am not afraid to try things out, so give me some steps and I will do them ASAP.
Thanks!
1st, boot the phone by holding the back & power buttons. Tell us EXACTLY what is on the first 5 lines at the top of the screen.
From there you will know if your phone is rootable...
It says:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
May 8 2009, 21:02:32 .
does this help?
Those specs were the same as mine. I used the Relentless Rooter software to root my phone. It was free then but you now have to pay (you can find it in the app forum).
You can also use the unlockr one click method. Check his site and video. Remember to use the instructions for 32A. Some posters wrote that they could not use this method (flashrec) to flash the latest Amon_Ra recovery and the solution was to shorten Amon_Ra's recovery's name. I know this sounds foreign language right now, but I do suggest you read and research a bit, specially the comments posted under the unlockr's method.
Once rooted, you can find various custom Roms for 32A in the developers section. Make sure the Rom fits your radio and SPL.
Oh, once rooted, I would suggest changing your SPL 1.33.009 to an engineered SPL, like mine (I use 1.33.2010). You can do a search at google or within the developers forum to find out why.
CONSIDER YOURSELF EXTREMELY FORTUNATE, you have a HTC Magic with an OLD non perfected SPL. Hell it isn't even a protected SPL you can load custom roms right away without having to flash a a new SPL.
HTC Magic with that SPL are becoming rarer by the day.
I would look into what ROMs you're interested in, if you want a 1.6 ROM, I would recommend Cyanogen 32A Port or Amon_RA's 1.6 ROM.
If you don't need 1.6 and like Sense UI (I suggest youtubing Sense UI and Stock Android to see which you prefer), CursorDroid's Sense UI ROM is in my opinion the BEST ROM available for the HTC Magic.
Cyanogen and Amon_Ra's ROM will work with your current SPL (I believe). While CursorDroid's requires you to flash the SPL and Radio of your phone. Which is a bit intimidating for novices but if your well prepared and pay close attention to instructions it's easy.
Thanks to all, I used some simple instrutions.
I now have:
6.35.10.18 Radio
1.76.2007 SPL
And I installed the CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1 rom.
This is way better.

Maybe it was a new Magic which the person obtained from the HTC Dream upgrade.

Then for sure it was updated. Rogers wouldn't send out units with the bugged ROM.

[Q] The usual... :)

My Magic looks like this:
Sapphire PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0014 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.23.18
I've been reading this and other forums for awhile now trying to find a "simple" way to get froyo on it but cant seem to find one, there's just too many options and possibilities for my little head to handle.
So now a few questions:
I heard you could overclock it, is it worth it and will it be stable?
Is it even possible to get froyo on it without following a 1mil step guide?
And considering the above to be "yes" the magic question all noobs ask... How?
All the radio and root stuff confuses me, if only it could be done with just a random rom and not having to do anything else
PS. Yes i know others ask about roms often but i have been reading about it for so long now without getting anywhere, i have to get some clear answers to get anywhere...
-The OC dosent give you any mind blowing performance increase (better performance is only noticable with certain games), 576 mhz is stable, other I don't know, your phone will not melt or anything (on 576).
- for any new magic (android) phone you must do a rather "long" procedure before you can start flashing stuff.
- read the whole 32A wiki, also read part 2
- read how to flash radio and spl
- Look into rom bible for roms you might like
- I would recommend cyanogen mod 5.0.8 (2.1) to use as a daily rom, froyo has many bugs
- and don't be hasty, read the wiki again if yu have to, almost every thing is explained there
- don't brick your phone!
happy flashing
"Perfect" SPL Revisions (which prevent us hacking)
Currently HBOOT-1.33.0006, HBOOT-1.33.0010 and HBOOT-1.33.0014 are the known 'Perfect SPL' revisions on the Sapphire handsets that we know of.
It is not possible to fastboot a ROM if you have one of these SPLs; you need to wait until someone has hacked it.
Edit (12 Aug 2009) : Now you can! Refer to "blabla cant post link i'm new user"

Seems i have a perfect SPL, have somebody developed an easy fix for that?
Quoting the link:
Proceed on your own risk, you might brick your phone!!!
This method is written for the original MT3G back in 2009, DONT USE IT on the Fender/MT3G 1.2!!!

Got no clue what Fender/MT3G 1.2 is...
Fender is the limited edition myTouch that T-Mobile marketed and he 1.2 is the mytouch's with the 3.5mm jack on top. Since you've got a perfected SPL, the goldcard method is about the only way to root it, AFAIK.

How to install CyanogenMod-7 ?

Hi all
i'm new here
I need help becouse i want install CyanogenMod-7 for HTC Wildfire with android 2.3.
I have Wildfire with android 2.2.1 and i have hboot 1.0x etc.
Is it possible and what i need ?
I'm green in this case
Thx in advance. sorry for my eng
If you read around a little bit, you would come to know you cant.
Anyway, I'll still tell you - No, you cannot install CM7 on official 2.2.1 with Hboot 1.01. You will have to find someone with an XTC Clip hardware box, get your phone S-OFF using that, and only then root and install Custom ROMs like CM7.

Rooting guidance needed

I'm not totally new to rooting as I have already rooted my HTC Desire.
Yesterday my daughter came to me and asked me if I could root her HTC Legend.
I'm finding this quite confusing this time around and I am unsure what guides I should be following.
The wanted end result would be a rooted HTC Legend with S-Off after that installing a custom ROM should be the same as it is on the desire so I'm fine.
her phone has HBOOT 1.0 and android 2.2 currently
Can someone please point me in the right direction for my wanted end result.
Thanks in advance
Root is possible but s off isn't with hboot 1.01 or 1 being unable to revert it to s off XD
However you can use fake flash and still be able to do the same things
Look in the legend android development thread in the sticky with references there is a guide for rooting with hboot 1.01
Mines rooted with hboot message me if you need help XD
Sent from my HTC Legend
so I use the 1.01 guide to root 1.0 ok got that.
s-off was not a really big deal I just thought it would be handy

[Q] - About HTC Magic and his potentials

Hello there guys,
I am a newbie android user and i just got HTC Magic at my hands. I had HTC Click before and had rooted & flashed it to CM7 but it was clear and straight with auto-root one click and flashing rom. Now i need help 'cause I have no idea what to do to speed up my HTC magic 'cause it's waaaaay too slow!
Here are it's specs and my questions:
HTC Magic 32B (from Germany, The Vodafone one)
Android Version: 2.2.1 official
Baseband Version 65.50SJ.20.17U_2.22.28.25
ALSO
Sapphire PVT 32B Ship S-On G
Hboot-1.33.0013 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO - 2.22.28.25
if needed!
These are things I know about my phone.
So my questions are:
1) Is there a way to root & flash a custom rom so i can speed up my cell without the danger of bricking it (i read some things over the forum for such problems in my version 32B)
2) Is the cracked rom (CM for example) version faster than the official one?
3) If it's not safe can i downgrade to 1.6 official rom so it's faster?
Considering i'm a new user please answer accordingly.
Thanks in advance for your time and your answers,
M.
Use superoneclick or gingerbreak to root.
Flash a custom recovery with rom manager.
Cm dropped support and the last official version for the magic is 6.1. It slows down over time.
Ezgingerbread is the fastest gb rom for d/s.
Dreamteam froyo is a quite fast froyo rom. I recommend it over cm (and I am not biased at all /sarcasm). I am currently running a web site on it with great uptime and good performance.

hello there and thanks for helping!
i did rooted my cell with gingerbreak and did the 'recovery AMON-RA' thing
but now how can i flash a rom? is there any tut on how to flash SPLs and
Radios and ROMs? 'cause i'm a bit dizzy with all these new infos over here
Thanks again,
M.
btw i want this ROM to be installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932118
You are already on the latest radio/spl so flashing that is a bad idea
To flash a rom just reboot into recovery and follow the menu to flash it.
Why Ginger yoshi? If you want fast, any gingerbread is a bad idea
i've put this ROM now and it's quite fast but not enough as i wanted. no serious improvement and it's lack of android's 'navigation' :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882356
i think i'm gonna try this one, what do you think of?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576893
If you want fast, gingerbread and sense ate the wrong way to go.
Ezgingerbread is the best gb rom we have.
Try my dreamteam froyo rom (should be in my sig). Its quite fast.
I finally flashed the DreamTeam froyo ROM and it's WAY faster than the previous. I love this ROM, thanks a lot for your help m8!
