Unable to use flash using CLK and Clockworkmod - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi All
I don't know what I am doing wrong so I hope someone can help me.
I have tried using Clockworkmod and CLK but i am not able to flash my rom with any of them. I sometimes get a HTC screen but then nothing else. Sometimes my HD2 just reboots after a few seconds.
I have followed the guides word for word and tried CLK but still nothing.
I can update my rom using DAF, but all new roms come out in zip format only.
I have updated my radio to "Radio Leo 2.15.50.14"
I am doing something wrong? Can it be my SD card?
I hope someone can help.
Thank you in advance

Wrong forum.

I'm having the exact same issue - I was just about to open a new thread here but saw this thread and a post stating wrong forum - Please advise where can I post it?
Many thanks

What ROM are you using?
What is System partition Size for that Rom you're using?
Have you used right partition size while flashing MagLdr or Clk?
And have you used Ksubedi's Toolkit?
Because the symptom you're describing is only experienced when you use a partition size smaller than what is recommended.
For example if the Rom requires a partition of ATLEAST 200M and you flash a partition of 150M. You will get stuck at the Logo Screen. AKA HTC Screen. Or as you proclaimed, it won't even boot. So please provide more information as to which Rom and partition size you used and I will try my best to help you.
And don't pay any attention to A jerk telling you "Wrong Forum"
We will help no matter where you post it.
And Spuri give your Rom and install method, I will try my best to help you as well.

Thank you so much - here it goes..
I've been flashing Android roms for a while but for the last couple of weeks I'm having issues with installing any CWR/CLK rom - After flashing the rom, the screen is stuck at GO GO GO and then it goes in a boot loop. I have searched and I have followed all the steps down to the T. Anyway, following are the steps I have taken so far:
Format SD Card using SD Formatter
HSPL3 (2.08)
Task 29 (Using HD2 NAND Toolkit)
Install Radio (2.15) (Using HD2 NAND Toolkit)
Install MAGLDR (Using HD2 NAND Toolkit)
System Partition (As Recommended by the Chef) (Using HD2 NAND Toolkit)
wipe cache partition
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Partition Card with 1GB (As Recommended by the Chef)
install zip from sdcard
Fix Permissions
Reboot
Currently, I'm using BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_Desire HD A2SD V20 (21.Jul) via DAF method without any issues.
I have used different SD cards but no luck - Currently I'm using 16GB Lexar Class 4. I can flash fine via DAF method. I have also done dual boot with Android and Windows Mobile without any problems. So,if I have successfully run an Android via a SD card (dual boot) so obviously SD card is not the problem?
This is really doing my head in so if anyone can help me with this, that'd be great.
Many thanks

Okay. Try to find Coredroid v1.6. Go here: http://hotfile.com/list/1335611/19f8a51 download the second file. There are instructions in there that you can follow. And since you have already partitioned SdCard, you can skip that part. And Btw, you don't need to do the "Fix Permissions" thing that you stated before. That is only done when you experience problems with apps in the Roms after first boot. And for the above Rom use a partition size of 400M.

Thanks for your prompt response - Btw, I forgot to mention that I have a LEO 512 - should I still install the second file which is for LEO 1024?

Rofl sorry ignore the step 1 and then jumping to 3. Just do this exactly. And I have adjusted the file to a EU version Rom with partition of 190m. And so with your SD that was partitioned already, you should be good to go.
1. Go here and Download. http://www.multiupload.com/ZH0WFJBT6P
3. On second Link download HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_TMOUS_NAND_ONLY_LEO1 024.rar file 4. In Toolkit Do "Task29." Then Flash MagLdr with size 190M and cache size 5M. 5. After the Flash of Magldr. Boot into MagLdr by HOLDING DOWN!!! Power Button during bootup. 6. Go to Option "5. Usb Flasher." and wait for "Wait USB...USB." 7. Once "Wait USB...USB." is confirmed. Go to the "Daf.exe" file in the COREDROID V1.6 file you downloaded before and "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR." 8. Once Finished Reboot into MagLdr AGAIN. This Time go to Option "8. AD Recovery." 9. Since you have already Partitioned SD. Then no Need to do so again. 10. Go to "Mounts and Storage" Then "Mount USB Storage" 11. Copy the Pyramid_HTC_WWE_1.35.401.1_v1.5_EU.zip to SD. 12. Once finished Hit the "BACK ARROW" Button. 13. Go down to "Flash ZIP From SDCard" then "Choose Zip from SDCard" 14. And Pick Pyramid_HTC_WWE_1.35.401.1_v1.5_EU.zip and flash. 15. Once finished, Reboot Phone, Leave it for about 20 Minutes because its First Boot. And Your Done. 16. Hit Thnx if this Helped.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - Do you want me to flash Pyramid rom or core droid rom? For Pyramid rom, use 190M and for Core Droid 400M right? I did previously try flashing the latest Pyramid rom which 1.7 bit it didn't work - I used 200M for that but I'll try your recommendation and see how it goes.
Thanks.

Yes try the pyramid Rom with my steps exactly and you should be fine. But you have to run the Daf.exe from the Coredroid Rom once you are in Option "5. USB Flasher"

One final clarification - You mentioned that I should install 190/5, when I install DAF.exe from the core droid folder, wouldn't that override the 190/5 as I was under the impression that DAF.exe was a partition size as well.
Thanks
EDIT: This step 'Then Flash MagLdr with size 190M and cache size 5M.' I don't understand either - After Task 29, shouldn't I be installing mag and then flashing the 190/5 partition?

Ok - I followed the steps and after flashing the rom, the screen is stuck at GO GO GO - I'm sick of this - I just don't know what's the issue.
Anyone?

I tried flashing HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.6_Release_Version and that's stuck at GO GO GO screen as well.

What flash.cfg did you use for CWR?
The reason of GO GO GO is in my opinion because of small CWR flash.cfg. Because I had the same problem and I just changed as it was in the rom's topic.

I used the following:
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 10M
system ya 390M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
Just want to reiterate that the GO GO GO issue is after flashing the rom - I can boot in CWR fine - The weird thing is that I have always followed what the chef has recommended in his/her rom - This issue has had me stumped - I virtually can't install any NAND rom - Maybe I should try a third SD card? I just don't know.

Did you try to install the one I gave to you?
Because from what I can see you are trying to install build with HTC SENSE right?
Try to install the one I gave you it is simple clean gingerbread rom.
If you tried then I don't know, try task29 and then try to install it all again.
Or try installing SD card version

Okay I will give you exact instructions. And BTW the Daf.exe is so you can boot into AD Recovery in MagLd.
1. Task 29.
2. Go to toolkit and Center Left you will see box with sizes of 150 200...... Click on 200M. Under that box is a little box with 45M as default cache size, change it to 5M.
4. Go in MagLdr. This is what I mean, try to go to Option "8. AD Recovery." It wont right? So go into Option "5. USB Flasher" and run the Daf.exe from the Coredroid folder and run as administrator.
5. Once finished boot into MagLdr once more this time going to Option "8. AD Recovery."
6. (This step is optional, but mandditory if you have not done so already)Once in AD Recovery, go to "Advance" menu, partition SdCard, and use the size 1024M,it will ask for swap size next, use 0M.
7. Once partitioned, go back to "Mounts and Storage" then to "Mount USB Storage."
8. Once mounted, copy the Pyramid Rom to root of SdCard. Once finished, hit back arrow once.
9. Go to "Install ZIP from SDCard" then "Choose ZIP from SdCard" and choose the Pyramid Rom. Let the flashing finish. And reboot phone.
10. Let the phone settle for 5 minutes in first boot, go through Setup. Then reboot phone.

I was trying all the HTC Sense builds but even a MIUI build giving me headaches - Obviously, I'm doing something wrong but can't figure it out - I have tested the SD card version and that works fine i.e dual boot Windows Mobile and Android - Sorry, which gingerbread rom you want me to install?
I'm heading to work - will try when I get back

Download CWR 4.0 and flash it in MAGLDR (it has configured parition size for this rom so just flash it don't change anything): http://www.multiupload.com/VZ1WB57AOY
then
Download this rom: http://www.multiupload.com/8UPNV5WUZU and install it in CWR.

one option: switch to DAF(MAGDLR)....

Hi guys, Im a noob.
When i tried to install the ROMUpdateUtillity, it was smooth on the front part, but when it start installing, it always 0%, and after that, it pop up a error dialog... I followed every instruction in the ROMUpdateUtility. please help me.
I'm using Window 7
Window Mobile Centre 6.1
Thanks.
Go to Xda Hd2 Nand Development and at the top on the thread there will be a toolkit thread. You can search it in Google too. Toolkit is called HD2 Nand Toolkit by Ksubedi. Download the tool. And flash HSPL 2.08. Then flash Task29. Then flash MagLdr through that tool. You can set the size of the partition of MagLdr in center left.
Hit thnkx if this helped.

i guess u didnt change ur hspl ...change it first to 2.08 befor installing magldr
Thank guys, thank you so much
Omg guys, my HD2 can't load into the MAGLDR113 menu, it stuck at the HTC logo start up screen. it can't load into the phone too...
stucking at the htc screen means that theres a clean nand
did you task29? if yes, try to install magldr again..
follow these steps:
install hspl 4 (2.08 HSPL)
install radio 2.15.50.14 rom
Task29 (clean nand)
install magldr
install cwm
goto cwm (AD Recovery @ magldr menu)
flash rom (install zip from sd card - choose zip from sd card)
have fun
if you need to go manually into magldr menu, keep pressing phone end button while booting.
if this is just too much, just try to use a toolkit (like the nand toolkit or mine (click on banner in my signature )
hope it´ll help a bit.
I still can't figure out how to boot into the MGLDR113 menu, i tried reinstall it and try press the end call button many times when booting up. its not working... omg...
Thanks

in coredroid roms the necessary CWR partition comes within the downloaded rar. when you unpack it you'll see an exe file 'daf'.in your phone go to mgldr menu, with volume buttons come to 'usb flasher' you must see 'usb flasher....usb',right click on daf, choose run as administrator. now follow your screen to finish it. then in mgldr AD recovery-install zip from sdcard-choose zip from sdcard then in your sd find your coredroid........zip, choose it, after it finishes reboot and wait....

Hi, a possible cause of problem - check your zip file (ROM), copy it to PC and try to unpack, may be it's broken. Sometimes you don't have error message when flashing, but when check on PC it shows errors.
thanks mate i will give that a try
i just extract the 2 roms i have been trying to get to work they seems ok
have you got the correct partition size for the rom ?
Which Sense ROM are you using, anyways?
Try a ext 3 partition on your sdcard then run clean install

same problem
good morning everbody,
i have same problem - for days i am trying to flash a newer rom and after installing my phone is always keeping to show the bootup logo of each rom i flashed.
i use the magloader 1.13, the recovery 3.0.0.5 and the radio 15.
i am able to install the stock rom of winmo 6.5 from htc (vodafone) an everthing is fine. but going back to a custom android rom is not working anymore.
even if i try to go the "right" way, means:
having the winmo rom --> flashing radio --> flashing magloader --> flashing recovery --> wiping data/reset, wiping cache, wiping that dia*** --> putting rom.zip on the sd card via pc --> installing the zip via recovery. that all works until the phone has to boot. i tried over 8 different roms.
befor i startet to update, i hab an coredroid rom v1.3 and it was booting.
perhaps anybody knows whats my problem with this nd lets me now what i have too look for?
great thanx, cause until now i can only go back to my stock winmo rom and thats boring to me... :-(

I'd try this: Back up sd if required.
1/ Remove sd from ph and place in a card reader on pc use "SDFormatter" change options format type to Full (Erase) this will erase the Ext Partition & format the card. Put the card back in the ph.
2/ Volume Down + Power Tri color connect usb. Using "HD2 Toolkit" do Task29 this will wipe the ph.
3/ Tri color Using "HD2 Toolkit" install Magldr (don't know about cLK)
4/ Boot ph go into Magldr navigate To "usb flasher" Using "HD2 Toolkit" select "Magldr repartition" Make sure that you are using the recommended partition size for your rom! Flash partition as directed. Ph will reboot go into "ad recovery" "advanced - partition sd card" select 1024m - 0M this will create 3EXT partition. (Some roms are not compatible with 4Ext) Reboot into "Recovery" select "mount sd" move your "Rom.zip" to sd. Close "mount sd" and select "Install zip from sd - Choose zip from sd" select the zip and install and reboot! .....
thanks everyone for your help after a week digging it was my sd card put a new one in and now running sense 3.5 . thanks again

thansk for your advise. it took me some days cause i had no time but after i did exactly what you wrote, my newest coredroid rom is running.

Dont worry man, once you install CWM, you will be able to install a NAND rom of your choice on the internal memory of your phone. The rom you install will have everything eg. kernels, scripts. Basically all you need to do is install CWM then install a rom of your choice. Here is a guide to do install clockworkmod(CWM)
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...kmod-recovery-on-android-htc-hd2-with-magldr/
and here is how to install a rom using clockworkmod
1. turn off you phone
2. turn it on while keeping the power button pressed (dont let go until you see the MAGLDR menu)
3. Go to option 8 "AD recovery"
4. You will boot into clockworkmod
5. Go to mounts and storage
6. Mount the sd card(connect your phone to the pc via usb cable, and then select this option)
7. Place your downloaded rom .zip file on the sd card, root level
8. unmount your fone.
9. Go to "install zip from sd card option"
10. then select "choose zip from sd card"
11. Select the rom.
12. The rom will be installed on your fones internal memory.
13. When it is done, just reboot your phone.
14. ENJOY
NOTE: Remember to choose the correct partition size when selecting which clockworkmod to install. there are 150mb, 250mb and 400mb partitions available. The procedure to install them is the same.
Hope it helps.

Yeah, follow ^his guide. In case you get lost and want more detail, follow this guide. It also includes things such as partitioning the SD if needed.
When he talks about partition sizes, you need to look at the first post of the ROM you want to flash, and see what it says. Then use either the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash that size, or do the following:
1. Download a CWM file (e.g. the ones at the bottom of the guide I posted)
2. Open the folder
3. Find flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt) and open it with notepad
4. Change the system value to the one stated in the OP
5. Save the file
6. Go to USB Flasher in MAGLDR
7. Connect phone to PC
8. Run Daf.exe in the CWM folder
9. Boot into CWM and follow the steps by adil1508 or the guide I posted to flash a ROM.

I genuinely cannot make it any simpler than this guide. When it says flash the correct partition size, use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash a 175mb partition.

[Q]Magldr. Intall An android ROM over an other Android ROM

Hello, i have htc hd2 and i already intallled this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209474
Now, i want to update this ROM to this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662881
But i dont know how, i have magldr installed on my device, 2.08 spl and the proper radio. I dont really know if i first have to uninstall the current android i have(i dont know how either) or if i just flash it on top of it. Another question i have is how to flash a rom that comes on a zip file from magldr. Because i installed the android that i currently have with an .exe that came inside the rom i downloaded.
Thanks, i hope i can get this solved asap.
You don't need to uninstall your current ROM, but you have to install CWM first with the correct partition size. After that, boot into cwm by selecting option "8. AD Recovery" and then "install zip from sdcard" and choose the ROM you downloaded as a .zip .. and you should be good to go.
If you need elaboration, you can follow this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16528026&postcount=7
Keep in mind you have to modify "Step 8" & "Step 10" according to your ROM.
Also, if you installed your first rom using daf.exe some time ago there's a good chance you don't have magldr 1.13.
You can tell by looking at the magldr menu screen at the top, or by looking at option 8,, if option 8 ISN'T "ad recovery" then you need to upgrade magldr. (Well, technically you don't, but its way easier if you do)

I installed my previous rom with daf.exe. I have to install CWM now, i have magdlr 1.13, so i can do it. But i read this:
"WARNING MESSAGES:
GOING FROM A DAF FLASHED ROM TO A RECOVERY FLASHED ROM WILL WIPE ALL DATA
IF YOU FLASH ANOTHER ROM USING DAF, RECOVERY WILL NO LONGER WORK CORRECTLY, YOU WILL NEED TO REFLASH RECOVERY"
I didnt understand what it meant with "wipe all data". Is there any chance to brake my device?
Thanks
It just means that the apps and data on your current ROM will be deleted (SD card will not be affected). You can use an app like Titanium Backup to backup your apps and app data then restore them after flashing a new ROM.
I already flashed the rom succesfully, thanks for the help
flashed but reboot failed
Flash was successfull, but first reboot failed. Phone shows the cyanoGen mod figure with an arrow turning around it for ages.
Any ideas how to make it working?

Make sure you setup your partition perfectly as the OP said for your ROM,if u new on this just grabed HD2 Toolkit, try to start all over again.
but if you have settle up your partition perfectly try to go to recovery wipe cache, than wipe dalvik cache and reboot, see if this working, good luck
Long Live HD2,Long Live Rock'n Roll!!

[Q] **** Solved **** Cannot install Nand Roms....

:victory:****** Solved *******
Hi, thank you for all of your help and assistance.
It was all down to selecting the correct partitions (and me getting over enthusiastic in flashing roms and not reading FULLY on how and what partitions are required)
I have used HD2 Nand toolkit, and partitioned MAGLDR, then partitioned SD card within Clockworkmod.
Thank you all again for pointing me in the right direction...
Good Evening All,
I am sorry if this has been covered. I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer.
I have read all the FAQ and How-to's.
I am not an exact newbie, I have owned a HD2 before (about 2 years ago) and could install all sorts of different roms (including NAND)
I have Installed my Radio 2.15.50.14
I have installed HARD SPL 2.08
I have Installed MAGdlr 1.13
I ahve installed clockwork mod recovery 1.3 with 400M
Copied rom to root of SD Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
and I have installed Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
this installed fine,
I then decided to try another,
I downloaded QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1 and placed on root of SD,
I booted into Magldr, then into clockwork mod
from here i wipe data, and factory reset,
wipe cache partition
and wiped delvic cache.
Then i install zip from sd card QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1
when this is done,
It asks me to reboot,
Then it stays on the boot screen, and the rom does not load.....
I can restore the back up from the original rom install. but whatever rom I install (from Nand rom downloads) none of them install...
Please help...
Matt

1-Why? Use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to partition your system according to the developer.
2- Never reboot directly from the "reboot now" option of amarullz's installer. Instead, uncheck the "reboot now" option, click finish and reboot manually from CWM.
(The reboot option somehow makes your rom not boot, at least that happens to me every time)

Thanks,
I will give it a go!
Have already downloaded toolkit, and just watching the video on how to use...
Matt:fingers-crossed:
So, do I just use Magldr to partition and don't install CWM?
I tried to re-partition with CWM, but lost magldr.....
What am I doing wrong?
Still cannot install NAND rom.
Going to do Task 29 again, where from there??
Thanks for your help and patience...
try the links below, it might help

I don't use magldr, so I am not sure.
But I think you have to "MAGLDR recovery update" first, and then after it finishes you have to "magdlr repartition". Im not sure though.
How do I just install clockwork mod? Without using Magldr?
If I Task29 first,
What's my next step.....?
After Task29 (don't do task29 again) you have to do the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675 until you see the "recovery" .. from there, dont continue to flashing wp7, just put your rom on your sd and flash it from recovery. (don't forget to thank the the one who made the thread/guide)
Don't forget to NOT use 300mb, but use the one written on your rom's thread.

You can't have CWM without MAGLDR. If you've flashed CWM you shouldn't have lost MAGLDR at all, so I don't know what you did wrong. Task 29s are also almost always useless and unnecessary, if a guide says 'task 29' as the first step then usually you can just skip that part. I find that the best guide is the one in my sig, try it out.
