Can the new moto blur for android 2.2 be ported over from the droid x2 to the atrix. I hear the new blur on the x2 was more stable and much faster. There was also a system dump release for the droid x2.

uuh.... isn't the Droid X2 also a Gingerbread phone... which could account for the extra smoothness of Blur?

You should look up the specs before you make assumptions...

I'm just going by what i heard.... which i think was what someone said in another thread on these forums. Why didn't i take the time to look up the specs before asking my QUESTION? Because the Droid X2 is a Verizon phone. I don't use Verizon. Hence have hardly any interest in the phone.

Yeah, but it's a Motorola Phone... shouldn't matter what carrier it's on... I had the original Droid X when it came out cus ATT sucked with their choice of Android phones... fan of technology not fan of companies...
Sometimes I can be blunt with my responses.. don't take it the wrong way... was just making a point...
Well yea.... AT&T's choice of Android phones did suck until recently. That's why i went from an iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4 until the Atrix came out. Though while i liked Android... didn't really feel like switching carriers for it.... so i didn't really bother with the Droid/Droid X/ Droid 2, etc...
Yep, what sort of bongo company releases a second high end phone with an outdated system, oh wait it can only be moto!

so here is the situation. at first, i wanted to buy a Droid X but they were all out of stock at the verizon store near me, so i left with a droid incredible instead. but surprisingly for me i liked the incredible a lot more then i expected that i would. and i used my incredible for a few weeks but then i started noticing the speaker on the front wasnt working right, it would make a static noise during a phone call. and i have not even reached the 30 day limit with this phone so i returned the incredible back to the vzw store again but instead of getting a new incredible i decided to get a droid x instead like i originally planned to get. and i have been using this droid x for about a few weeks now and i must say, i liked my Droid Incredible MUCH better. the incredible was much faster, and sexier. so now i am wondering if verizon will let me take back my Droid x and once again get a Droid incredible instead, i really miss my incredible and im really starting to hate this phone.
so if you didnt get that the first time in short. i had a droid incredible, i loved it, but it broke. so i got a droid x and hated it. now i want to return it and get an incredible again, but i want to know if verizon will actually let me do that.
and on an unrelated not if verizon DOES let me get an incredible again will i have one of the newer models with the SLCD displays? does any one know if this screen looks any better then the older screens? just wondering

That depends on.............mood of store manager. They can do pretty much everything there, however they could tell you you cannot make a second exchange. That happened to me once, but the manager was nice enough a let me do the exchange 3 times. So, my suggestion is - make up a little story and give it a try. Good luck.
HTC seems to always bring the greatest and latest. But in my experience their phones just don't last. Serious...NOT trying to troll. I've literally gone through 20+ HTC Recertified Like New devices in the past few years. Most common was the Oil Slick LCD problem, where Verizon eventually started blaming the customer as user affected abuse even though the LCD wasn't cracked.
Great specs encased with cheap plastic and cheap parts.

Thats been my experience with HTC devices. Loved them all until they broke in the first 3 months. I went through 13 HTC devices (from the Vogue all the way up to the Rhodium) in about a year and a half. Personally, I will never own another HTC device unless that company does something AMAZING.
As far as your question goes, if the store manager is unwilling to do anything for you, I'm sure you could find someone that would be willing to trade their Incredible for your DX.

just curious.
If I have read correctly around the net, I think devs need to wait until Motorola releases their own version of Gingerbread for the D2 and DX since they use Blur. Could be different for the Droid 1 though since its stock.

Exactly the reason why I plan on switching to the samsung fascinate. This locked bootloader mess is making the droid2 root experience suck bad. While other phones get roms as soon as the freakin sdk is released for gingerbread, we are stuck waiting on moto bcuz we are locked down and unable to get ealry gb roms.
via XDA on DROID2
Real funny how you want to switch to a fascinate because of Motorola being slow on rom updates. The sgs fascinate is still in 2.1 eclair bro. If you want most upto date than stay away from Sammy. That's why I'm replacing my fascinate tomorrow.

I would agree with you normally but this is XDA.. the vast majority of people here are looking to customize their phones, and are not like the general public. I'd rather a fully unlocked bootloader with zero OEM support than lots of OEM support and a completely locked down system. That is one of the main reasons android is so much better than the iphone.. but here i am feeling stupid with locked phone. Although, the most locked down android is nowhere near as restrictive as a fruit device, but stil...
The Droid X, Milestone etc bootloaders were not actually unlocked. It was a hoax. http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-bootloader-still-encrypted-developer-comes-clean
I don't see why so many are willing to put up with this. There are plenty of other good android phones out there. As long as Motorola is going to fight this, there will never be a truly safe way to flash custom roms/kernels on droid phones, and devs simply aren't going to invest the time necessary to develop much.
::: Sigh :::

I would recommend a Galaxy S. The bootloaders are unlocked and it now has a functional CM7 version. Plus, nothing beats the Super AMOLED screen.

I loved my Droid X when I first got it. Rooted it and had leaked Froyo running on it before OTA was available. After that there was not much more I could do with it. Bought a used Captivate on ebay. There are lots of custom ROMs and kernels to choose from. When September rolls around I hope there is a new Samsung phone available. No more Moto's for me.

Galaxy S phones are very solid, with a few mods, it will fly. Plus the bootloader is unlocked, if u are coming from the x, you will greatly appreciate this. I just picked up a thunderbolt and so far, i love it. Its crazy fast, LTE or not, and having the 256mb of extra ram really makes for a phone that never slows down, no matter what you are doing. My only complaint other than the battery being undersized, as HTC ALWAYS does, is the adreno 205, people with the mytouch or G2 will tell you its good. When voming from a galaxy s the GPU is the only thing that i dont think is better.

I test drove the fanny too, and have to say it. The dinc crushes that phone. The dinc is like a Midwestern farmgirl, and the Fanny is like a Russian model. The dinc isn't quite as pretty, but when you need some heavy labor done, she goes like crazy until the task is done. While the Russian model looks at you with that pretty screen, and has no idea what you just asked her. ; )

Quite the comparison, haha.
i'm definitely not bored with it yet!! the only thing i think would improve it is 4G. other than that, i'll ride it to the end..
I have the Inc now (upgraded from the droid back in late March) and its a nice phone, but I definitely wish I had something more current (which I will come November). From a hardware standpoint its a nice phone with moderate hardware but from a modding standpoint it's not the top of the list since its still locked (and can be bricked, like my original one which I had for a week) and the hardware is showing its age when it comes to new software like Sense 3.

JoelZ has a Sense 3.0 ROM that runs beautifully on my dinc. No lagging, lots of free memory, its a solid daily.
The Dinc was and is my first android phone, got it when it came out last April.
Whenever I do move on, if its in December when I'm up for a new one, or later, its gonna be tough to move on. I've definitely been spoiled with the solidity of the phone and the ferocity of the dev community for it.

I'm contemplating moving to the Tbolt or Inc2 but lack of Dual Core and CM7 is definitely stopping me. CM7 is keeping me nice and cozy with the Inc.
Im contemplating getting the Droid 3 but man oh man is it hard. $450 for it? Idk. The incredible has served me very well, and it still has a ton of life in it. All I need to do is give it some body work... like a new chassis. I abused this thing way too much haha.

I think this will be exciting to see how the new motoblur looks, they have said that they want to make less phones and more support for phones, and with google behind them and the pressure on from samsung, my eyes and ears are looking to moto to put up a fight. another point is that google is hard on about using the ICS halo theme and google owns moto, maybe the order came from the top, ICS with less blur out faster please.
