that's cool. did you change user agent for where you are located? or is that needed to make it function in general?

The mmsc in my carrier doesn't know the Atrix, so I receive really small pictures. I change the user agent so the network thinks I am using an iPhone.

could you go in a little more depth in explaining how to do this? or is it as simple as pushing the new mms.apk to /system/app and freezing messenging in TIBU, and thats all?
I would like to do this with the Calendar app thats in CM
never mind my above question. Figured it out. But the calendar.apk I tried to use didn't go over as well.
Any idea how to change the user agent on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus? The mms's that come in on a 4.2.2 vanilla ROM are resized and compressed so they look awful and it's bugging me.

I have searched far and wide, and have been unable to find a solution, but I am sick of the SMS/MMS included in the stock Samsung rom. The lack of Hyperlink support kills me... Any way to get the stock messaging app working or any roms which have the stock messaging app?
Try Handcent in the market. I use it over the stock MMS.

Really, you searched far and wide?
It seems to me like you probably didn't actually use the "search" function at all.
If you had, you very quickly would have found this thread, that I originally started, about stock 2.1 apps working on the vibrant, heck it was only at the bottom of page 2 of this very forum, not buried under hundreds of threads/pages.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731822
If you had honestly searched, and replied in that thread, I probably would have even typed out everything step-by-step again, for like the 50th time to help make sure you get it installed correctly, but wow, now I'm just getting annoyed.
Sigh, I totally understand why so many DEV's don't ever respond here anymore. =(

Just get hand cent or chompsms from the market. Then in the stock messaging app turn off notifications and in chomp or hand cent turn them on.
i am using handcent.. works flawless for me.. never have any lag time and/or force close.. i want to get rid of the stock sms also but i have not found anything here yet..
EDIT: I remove the mms.apk and mms.odex from the system/app folder.. now i don't see the mms icon and just using Handcent..

Then busybox cp the vanilla MMS app to /system/app
The end.
You can open hyperlinks in the sms/mms app included on the phone. Tap the message and you can then tap on the hyperlink to open it in your browser
So much fail in one thread, ha.

My brother on his Nexus 4 16GB LTE (as were from Canada and LTE works on the Nexus 4 here) keeps getting this sending SMS error. It reads as follows
Messaging is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages?
Deny or Allow
He has to keep clicking allow all the time as its the stock google messaging app he is using.
Now my question is has anyone else experienced this on the nexus 4. He said its really pissing him off. I checked if he had a bad app installed and there was nothing out of the ordinary.
So does any one know how to fix this issue. We went into settings and increased and removed the messaging limit and the problem keeps on popping up still.
Check the picture for how it looks.
Now some of you might experience this issue when you send massive amounts of text messages!
Any help would be nice! Thanks in advance!

There is a setting under security or something like that that limits the number of texts that can be sent in a set period of time. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to remove this on the Stock ROM. The feature is not built into over AOSP ROMs (like CM) so if this is his first Nexus device (and plain AOSP) he may not be used to this problem.
I'm not sure if the setting is built into the framework or just the MMS.apk, if it's the later you could probably swap in the MMS.apk from CM

Wow you serious what douche bags would not at least give you the option to allow legit messages. I understand bad apps taking advantage of that but for the stock messaging app it should be a one time disable option.
So to install the CM mms apk will I need root access. We don't want to root out phones at this time.

Rooting your phone takes 30 seconds and its risk free. Why wouldn't you want to? It can easily be disabled at any time.. Btw I'm from Canada too on lte but I guess I don't text enough to suffer that issue

You'll need the ROM, not just the APK. The CM10 settings for this "feature" are in the ROM settings, not the APK.
That said, if you were rooted, there's probably a mod that can be done rather than flashing a custom ROM.

You need to send a ****load of messages in a short time to even trigger this, and it goes away after a minute or two. If you want to get rid of it, root the phone. If you don't want to root the phone, try another SMS app or you're SoL.

Is there a way to get Quick Reply and pop up SMS on Touchwiz?
Not with the stock messager, try out go sms or Handcent from the play store if you'd like that feature

Yes, try the SMS Popup app, works great with the stock TW messaging app. Highly recommended.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I just came here from a search. I'm trying to get quick reply in the notification (as well as other options that are in vanilla / CM android such as mark read, delete, etc.) I also want it to display the text in the notification bar WITHOUT also putting it in the lockscreen... any suggestions? I can't believe the stock app is this bad!
Thanks!

Its themed though, but it does what CM version does.

thanks!!! just out of curiosity, do you mean TW themed? I'd switch back to CM, but there's still an audio call bug plus the camera app is far more limited etc.
And second question... is the messaging app on vanilla android as limited as the TW one? i.e., are the extra functions added by CM only?

1. Its not the TW messaging app, its a themed version of the CM one that works on stock based roms, it replaces the stock TW messaging app, and also deletes all your texts when you flash it, so make sure to backup all your texts. Also read the OP to know which version to download.
2. Yea. It doesn't have quick reply or anything.

OK thanks a ton!
I use go SMS pro. I tried using the SMS pop up and didn't like it too much because when I was replying to a long text I wasn't able to see what the person wrote to see what else to respond to. I came from an iPhone which I could bring down the message I was typing down some or cutting and pasting it back quick. This s4 is my second android phone I've ever had since the first mytouch on T-Mobile and android has come a long way since which I love my s4 a lot but there's still stuff I miss about the iPhone.

thanks I don't want a pop up per se, just the text of the SMS in the notification drawer and the reply / read / delete options underneath as in CM 10.1. Sliding Messaging seems to be working for that, but that means I have to use a totally different app...
What's the best way to get Emoji's working? Being able to see them would be nice... but just sending them would be fine. Anyone have a way of doing this? I know about Handcent/GO SMS emoji extensions but I like the stock TW messaging app, so I don't wanna do that.
EDIT: Also, I'm talking about being able to send them everywhere (Messaging, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Seeing them everywhere would also be a plus as mentioned above
Well if you don't want to use a different messaging app, then you have to replace the system font with one that has emoji support I believe.
Edit: Or you can flash the zip here for the default android emoji http://www.androidcoliseum.com/2013/06/how-to-get-422-emoji-keyboard-on-your.html

Well from 4.1 and up you should be able to see it by default because they baked it into jellybean. That's where the keyboard comes from. Color though, good luck with that one

i clicked on the s3 link you referred to. the xml file is no longer downloadable but i was able to grab the 9.83mb font file. So all you did was replace the original droidsansfallback with the modified 9.83mb file one and rebooted your phone?
I tried doing that and still cannot see received iphone sms emojis. (i can see emojis on all other apps besides the sms apps, including Handcent + emoji plugin)

I think I may need the same thing. I have a Samsung Moment SPH-M900 and anytime someone on AT&T sends me a text it comes in a foreign language and all other texts are in english. I have no idea as to what the problem may be. Do you think this will fix the problem.
