No there is not.
You could try the Android 7 Launcher that kinda recreates the windows desktop but it's just a launcher at all...

Windows 8 has been reported to already be running on ARM architecture CPUs. Which ones exactly, I don't know. I imagine Microsoft realizes Intel may not usurp ARM and wants to be able to put their next OS as an alternative for us on tablets and maybe even phones.
Old old versions of NT also ran on Alpha, MIPS and Power PC, but they dropped support in the mid-late nineties for them. I actually had a DEC workstation with an Alpha 21064 that I used for NT and later played with Linux some. The "BIOS" it had was probably one predecessor to EFI today.

Mozilla firefox for windows mobile...That little bit closer!

Today mozilla released an alpha version of the so called "fennec" Browser, the mobile version of firefox,
Although they have been releasing udates and actual releases for the Nokia n810 internet tablet, Today they released a version for......Desktop versions of windows, Mac os x and linux.

Wow!, instructions on usage are on the page. Obviosuly mozilla decided this was the best way to show you what they are working on without buying one of those silly useless (but very good) Internet tablets...

anyword on the windows mobile install?
there is a developer's blog with screen from it running on wm6. i wish he would make it available
Looks sweet. Can't wait to try it.
TELL me about it, i can't wait for it, trying it out on the pc. It seems awesome. Youtube doesn't work, but im not sure if an installation of flash works with it. (who needs it anyway huh? Youtube program from HTC works fine!) Plug-ins are also a feature with fennec, which will be awesome for people on here to get some good useful plugins made for us all!
Available for download here
Obviously, users with proper computers need the fennec-1.0a1.en-US.win32.zip version!

[Idea] Windows Mobile 6.x Simulator (Wine)

Hey everyone,
I just recently came up with the idea to create some sort of 'Wine' for Android devices running on the ARM architecture. Fortunately, Windows Mobile has been designed for the ARM architecture aswell, so in theory it's possible to implement the WinApi ourselves.
I am not sure if it's worth the effort, is there any WinMob Software that would be sweet to have on Android? I'll probably do this anyway, just for educational purposes, but I figured if you guys have interest in this in general, I'd make the code public aswell and continue to work on it until it reaches a final state.
DO IT!! GARMIN XT FOR ONE, sorry, yeah that would be awesome Im sure there are others too, but off the top of my head it would be awesome to have garmin since they are being a$$ holes about an app for android...
2nd best thing to actually running WM on Android (Which is highly unlikely) But yeah Do it! It'd be great
Android applications already run in virtual machines. You want to run a virtual machine inside a virtual machine?

Gonna have a hard time with that.
It's amazing that windows mobile will run on such varied hardware. I even remember the older versions running on a 200 mHz processor with 64 megs of ram.
It would be neat to see from a technology standpoint and probably but useless from an app standpoint.
Windows CE programs are diffrently compiled for ARM, and that is true, but even if WINE ran on it, I dout that it will work, but if I am wrong, have at it.

[Q] Current status of Linux on HTC Typhoon?

Hi there, I recently uncovered my Typhoon (Orange SPV C500) from the attic where it resided in its original box since we moved house 2 years ago.
To my surprise the battery was still good and after charging it up I decided to play around a little. Having upgraded my old Oxygen (HTC S310) to WM6.1 a while back I thought it would be cool if the much older Typhoon could run the same Windows. Using Karhoe's tutorial should do the trick.
So after some hassle getting it unlocked I upgraded.

Then I discovered it will even run WM6.5 which isn't even available to its younger sibling Oxygen. Upgrading was a breeze since the unlocking etc. was all done.
Of course, somehow the age-old question came up: "will it run linux?".
Sure it will.
Following the instructions from here and here I used HaRET to boot the linux kernel.
OK, so now what? Booting a kernel and having some limited shell access does not an OS make. So, has any progress been made? Last progress I find is roughly somewhere in 2007. I know the phone is over 7 years old and don't really expect anything but if anyone knows of news (Android?) plz let me know.
I would not bet on anything similar, simply because of the very limited RAM and ROM size of the Typhoon. Aleut's WM6.5 is the latest and best ROM you can get for this device.
I am in the process of releasing a simple kitchen based on that WM65, so you will be able to cook one yourself with the parts contained that you like.
Still the Multimedia and MMS integration is not as good as I would like to have it, but after this is done the kitchen will be released. It will generate a ROM that fits any Typhoon/Feeler/Amadeus as the keyboard drivers are all included in one ROM.

[Q] Problem with ATI/AMD graphic card (Laptop)

Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4090es (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...dlc=es&lc=es&os=4063&product=4251528&sw_lang=) and I've installed Windows8 using Windows Upgrade Offer (only 30€).
My problem is the graphic card. I have 1Gb dedicated, but Win8 not recognises it.
I have now the latest AMD drivers (12.11 Beta) but this is my PC:

I've tried to play some movies (DVD, 720p and 1080p) with very bad result.
Can you help me?
THANKS
You looked on internet if this has drivers for Windows 8 ?
Maby there arenot drivers yet
Do you have installed catalyst software from amd thats software for your graphic card.

Have you tried this driver?
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/legacy/amd_catalyst_12.6_legacy_win8.exe
God bless
andrew-in-woking
1. try the stable 12.10 catalyst, its already build for win 8
2. i had to install the 12.9 beta catalyst at first didnt work for me with the 12.10 as first installation
try!
ps: i got a 7600M
Say thanks :good:
That's one of those switchable graphics adapters isn't it? IIRC you will probably need drivers from HP to get it working as I don't think AMD directly supports them, its an OEM function built in to their drivers. try downloading the windows 7 drivers from HP then try install them, failing that try manually updating the graphics driver in device manager but point it to the folder containing the HP drivers, you will probably need to extract them
Is your problem solved?

LG gt540 is a old device...
Inviato dal mio GT540 con Tapatalk 2
Besides the age of this device and the fact that there are almost no active developers (I mean real developers, not people who port roms with the help of miroslav_mm's sources and kernels), you must also realise that the ubuntu talked about in the article is not the ubuntu that you're used to from your pc. This is a special version for phones, that maybe will be able to run native linux apps. However, not even a first testing version has been released yet.
The probability of this ubuntu project dying a silent death is much bigger than the changes of it ever coming to the gt540.
Nope, GT540 is too weak.
Yeah it'll be too weak for the desktop version and too weak even for the coming Ubuntu mobile. Go check out Ubuntu websitr , minimum 1GB ram 1GHz cortex A9
Noo
we need a powerfull phone than GT540 for ubuntu
Yeah... see this
