[Idea] Windows Mobile 6.x Simulator (Wine) - Android Software Development

Hey everyone,
I just recently came up with the idea to create some sort of 'Wine' for Android devices running on the ARM architecture. Fortunately, Windows Mobile has been designed for the ARM architecture aswell, so in theory it's possible to implement the WinApi ourselves.
I am not sure if it's worth the effort, is there any WinMob Software that would be sweet to have on Android? I'll probably do this anyway, just for educational purposes, but I figured if you guys have interest in this in general, I'd make the code public aswell and continue to work on it until it reaches a final state.

DO IT!! GARMIN XT FOR ONE, sorry, yeah that would be awesome Im sure there are others too, but off the top of my head it would be awesome to have garmin since they are being a$$ holes about an app for android...

2nd best thing to actually running WM on Android (Which is highly unlikely) But yeah Do it! It'd be great

Android applications already run in virtual machines. You want to run a virtual machine inside a virtual machine?

Gonna have a hard time with that.

It's amazing that windows mobile will run on such varied hardware. I even remember the older versions running on a 200 mHz processor with 64 megs of ram.
It would be neat to see from a technology standpoint and probably but useless from an app standpoint.

Windows CE programs are diffrently compiled for ARM, and that is true, but even if WINE ran on it, I dout that it will work, but if I am wrong, have at it.

Project for developer?

Ok. So my company purchased two 7" Android tablets pre-production from China. They turned out to actually not be "real" android as it seems to be running a skinned down Android on top of Windows CE. We are looking to place Android tablets in retail locations for a pilot test. I'm looking for a developer that would be able to do one or both of the following:
1) Put REAL Android on here. It doesn't matter whether it is 1.5, 1.6, etc. but we don't want Windows running in the background for the obvious reasons.
2) Develop a VERY simple (but pretty) application for a registration process that would guide the user through entering the values for the questions we are asking. The trick to this app is we also need a way to completely lock the device down so that the user can only use that app. Maybe a hidden button in a corner that would prompt for a password so that we could get out of the app.
We would gladly send one of these tablets and let the dev keep them for their time and we would also be willing to discuss pay based on time invested. Please PM if interested. Pics of the units below:

Bump...........
Porting Android to this device is probably an insanely time consuming and difficult project. Just look at the Android porting projects for various Non-android HTC Devices such as the Touch Pro/Diamond. Takes for ages as drivers needs to be written, etc...
I think you would be better of thrashing those fake tablets and maybe do some proper research next time you buy something from China..

HTC Sense Hub Demoed on an HTC Windows Phone 7

In the beginning I apologize if the news was not true in a place

It looks like HTC has found a way to integrate nicely with Windows Phone 7's hubs. The manufacturer is releasing something akin to an HTC Sense plug-in for Windows phone 7 that will integrate with it weather and other useful information. Ever since Windows Phone 7 was announced, HTC had been intent on bringing the Sense experience to the mobile platform, though there were early concerns that third-party UI overlays would not be permitted. Since then, we've seen concepts, and it looks like the recent demo is legitimate as the Sense experience was demoed on an HTC phone running Windows Phone 7 OS.

It looks kinda cool, but I can see the flying through clouds thing being annoying pretty fast.
That does look pretty funky.
i really hope that wp 7 could be installed on our hd2s!
Bearing in mind that I will be keeping my HD2 regardless of the next phone I get on upgrade next April, my choices are between Windows Phone 7 and Android (Hmmm).
If the above post and YouTube video is true, then the new WPS7 experience will be a treat. The standard interface alone looks via alive and fresh with the constantly update tiles, and I am pretty sure that any iphone4 user would be looking over your shoulder in evy.
I am not discounting Microsoft and the likes of HTC just yet to deliver a genius piece of kit just yet.

Windows 8 has been reported to already be running on ARM architecture CPUs. Which ones exactly, I don't know. I imagine Microsoft realizes Intel may not usurp ARM and wants to be able to put their next OS as an alternative for us on tablets and maybe even phones.
Old old versions of NT also ran on Alpha, MIPS and Power PC, but they dropped support in the mid-late nineties for them. I actually had a DEC workstation with an Alpha 21064 that I used for NT and later played with Linux some. The "BIOS" it had was probably one predecessor to EFI today.

this could (will) be (extremely) useless, but can we port iROM to our dz? it would be... kinda good if we just flash the ROM, and see how fast our dz is...

Wasn't that an April Fools?

it's impossible as ios is strongly modified in comparison to standard unix/linux systems and it's closed source anyway meaning compatiblity is only limited to apple products that has it as oem. palm webos, nokia maemo can be easier to port but still there are so much differrences as android isn't pure linux too.

No.
If there is a way, VMware will probably be first to make it. But not for windows XP. It's too old for anyone to care about it. If there is anything, it will be for Windows 7, 8 or 9 or something.
I found this though: http://www.pressbyte.com/3723/vmware-view-client-app-android-3x-honeycomb-tablet-pc/
It's an old article, so sure there has been some progress since then.
Found something else, but haven't tested it:

Ouch! I think I just had my credulity strained.
I better go see a doctor.
Not sure if you need xp or just some of the apps but I remember reading a while ago a russian company was working on a x86 emulator for android but only had it running at 20 percent. If you can get away with windows98 Ive installed that before through dosbox for some gaming.
