[Q] Current status of Linux on HTC Typhoon? - HTC Typhoon

Hi there, I recently uncovered my Typhoon (Orange SPV C500) from the attic where it resided in its original box since we moved house 2 years ago.
To my surprise the battery was still good and after charging it up I decided to play around a little. Having upgraded my old Oxygen (HTC S310) to WM6.1 a while back I thought it would be cool if the much older Typhoon could run the same Windows. Using Karhoe's tutorial should do the trick.
So after some hassle getting it unlocked I upgraded.

Then I discovered it will even run WM6.5 which isn't even available to its younger sibling Oxygen. Upgrading was a breeze since the unlocking etc. was all done.
Of course, somehow the age-old question came up: "will it run linux?".
Sure it will.
Following the instructions from here and here I used HaRET to boot the linux kernel.
OK, so now what? Booting a kernel and having some limited shell access does not an OS make. So, has any progress been made? Last progress I find is roughly somewhere in 2007. I know the phone is over 7 years old and don't really expect anything but if anyone knows of news (Android?) plz let me know.

I would not bet on anything similar, simply because of the very limited RAM and ROM size of the Typhoon. Aleut's WM6.5 is the latest and best ROM you can get for this device.
I am in the process of releasing a simple kitchen based on that WM65, so you will be able to cook one yourself with the parts contained that you like.
Still the Multimedia and MMS integration is not as good as I would like to have it, but after this is done the kitchen will be released. It will generate a ROM that fits any Typhoon/Feeler/Amadeus as the keyboard drivers are all included in one ROM.

1) VOX
2) More interested in the Homescreen. I've seen the touch interface used on non touch devices so why not just the opposite (It's a plug-in dlls, xmls, graphics, etc.).
Think outside the VOX! Couldn't resist!
let's wait for the WM6 upgrade.
I tried to use Imgfs tools to dump this and I couldn't... any pointers here?
I have dumped the rom now I'm trying to separate the apps
any luck with the extraction?
Any luck with this?
We waiting!
We waiting, my friend
Any screenshots of the interface?

XDA EXEC

i have been looking at phones and have come across the XDA EXEC.
i was wondering the rough price that i should expect to pay for it.
Also wondering if this is upgradable to have windows 6.5 on as that would be pretty awesome.
I also know this phone is old so would there be anything i need to do to update it and are there any good games for this phone?
Thanks

could you post some images of windows 6.5
how fast does it run on windows 6.5

But thanks so much for replying

It will run a bit slow but acceptable, I am using it with no issues.
you can´t install Sense 2.1 or 2.5 it will simply won´t work on Uni.
But if you are looking for a faster ROM better try Tomal 8.2, 8.5 or 8.9 all in WM6.1
Good luck,
is their anyway to get a flash browser on this device as that would be the cherry on top.
again thanks fort he quick reply!

[Q] ROM Cooking, Some Issues

First and foremost, hello to all the Opal community!
I have been around this forum since maybe January, when my brother gave me his VIVA.
I've already tried pretty much every ROM out there, and have ventured into the world of cooking myself.
So, after reading a lot of tutorials and customizing a lot of settings I have made a working 6.1 ROM, real simple and lightweight, after this one I'll try a 6.5 ROM.
The issues I'm currently facing are:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I would like this folder to not be created upon boot, but this is the simplest of my problems.
This one is pretty self-explanatory, maybe an issue with the SDK Certs? But I can't find the cab file!
And the last one, these shortcuts on Manila don't work.
I would really like to be helped on these problems if it isn't too much of a hassle, after this step I will go on customizing the ROM and possibly publish it in here of there is interest.
Thank you!
dear friend i think anybody needs a little bit more than what you've said. which folder you mean? and if you mean the shortcuts in operator tab in manila you need to mention!
The 'Games' folder, as I don't have the standard WM games in the ROM.
About the shorcuts, what happens is that nothing happens when I press those buttons.
about the second problem (camera) you have missed some package, I don't remember which, may be one of these:
Camera v6.7.32367.1 False
D Show v2.00.080904.0
HTC Gesture v1.0.32356.0 False
Picture Enhancement v1.50.18141822.c2
Share DLL v2.0.070522.0000
try with adding all these packages and tell me if now camera works. If you fix it try to remove the packages once at time and you should see which package is essential for camera...
Hey there, thank you for your help, it seems the problem was in the 'm Hub VO' package, whatever that is :s

[App][Win] Detailed System Information [OLD/UNSUPPORTED!]

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to present to you, my first (ever) WPF application!
It's part of Universal Android Toolkit (See my signature), which is still WIP, but I thought I'd present it to you as a stand-a-lone app.
So don't go thinking weirdly if you see it in Universal Android Toolkit, once I've released the newest version (Which is gonna be friggin' sweet).
Anyways, it does what the thread title says. It gets detailed system information from your device.
This information includes, but is not limited to:
Build ID
ROM Name
Build Codename
Build Version
Device Model Number
Device Board
CPU Type
Manufacturer
Dalvik Heap Size
Default Alarm Tone
Default Ringtone
Carrier
GPRS Class
and
Client Base
Of course this isn't everything, but I'd like to keep some stuff until the release of UAT. Ya know, kinda keeping stuff secret (CaptainSparklez' voice)
Now, before loooking at the screenshots, please bear in mind, that this is literally the first WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) application that I've ever created and released to the public!
So be nice when it comes to the design of things.
I'm a Linux guy, so I kept the close and minimize buttons on the top-left of the screen, where they belong

This program is no longer supported by me! Check out Universal Android Toolkit for this kind of thing!

Need a Custom Rom Available for SM-T285. Tab A 7.0 (VoLTE)

Hi guys.
I'm new to the Samsung Tab A community. I recently purchased a Samsung Tab A 7.0 - Volte enable tab. As usual samsung has loaded it with too much junk. I would like to either de-bloat the current OS. Or would like to flash a custom rom. I tried a bit of searching and found a few threads about roms. But i am not able find any proper link to flashing process, roms and recovery. Please help me in this regard.
Excuse me if I am re-posting. Thanks guys.
Me too debloatware my TabA
Dont get your hopes uo i havent found anything, just been looking as well. It would be good to get rid of some of the bloatware on here considering the memory available.
I think there were a few i found a while back which i have mosplaced but never got around to installing.
Im not sure but i think i found them on pirate bay which is probably why i was hesitant to install considering sites like that and its users and tapped into every back door there is out there.
Im thinking root the phone then manually delete system files like kids mode and samsung internet and a few other apps built in.
One thing to keep in mind is there are some files which the OS needs so back up, remove, test back up, remove, test and so on.
That way you can roll back to previous versions.
I dont think many people do it because of the headaches. There is no majic button to do it auto in 2 minues. Even developers hesitate.
If a smart phone dies is it bricked? Those were the old blocky phones right? Now a brick. Now a frisbee.
