Gingerbread

http://www.droid-life.com/2010/10/12/rumor-android-gingerbread-sdk-coming-next-week/
I hope this is true. Very exciting, unless your manufacturer uses a custom skin on top of android.
At the rate samsung and VZW are going we should be getting gingerbread by christmas...next year.

SDK does not equal aosp source code.
Business as usual.
Yeah at this rate the next new os will be out by the time the fascinate gets froyo lol. Unless samsung is waiting and going to skip froyo and just go straight to gingerbread. Who knows. Anyway thats why i only got a 1 year contract so i can get the newest phone come july
Try again. I wouldn't expect Gingerbread before the beginning of next year.
SDK being released means only the under hood changes are done. Doesn't mean anything past that.
Having moved from a nexus to get off t-mo, I would be so frigging happy to just have froyo back, they could release Vagina next month and I wouldn't care.
Vagina is a dessert, right?

Yay! .......
That's funny that they point that out. Did anyone receive the free update that Samsung Doesn't Charge Carriers?

Let's look. Hmmm. Nope.
The only way they might be able to make it up to most of us is by going straight to Gingerbread or by offering every Vibrant 3g owner a more than 1/2 percent discount on the new Vibrant 4g with the return of the current Vibrant 3g.
My biggest issue with Samsung is the lack of being straight forward/direct with us. Every question they've been asked about the update or rumors about our Vibrant being able to utilize 4g speeds Samsung won't even say yes or even deny it. It definitely makes me wonder. Its sad cause they definitely make great hardware (minus the gps issue). They probably hesitant on releasing Froyo 2.2 because the release of Froyo will prove that the gps issue is hardware based.

So what is holding the update sammyy?
Btw samsung don't make promises it will look bad if you don't keep ur promises you know...like the promise you made months ago? About froyo update? I guess soon means 6months to you, sammy.
Trolls, if your gonna reply to this msgs saying stfu, stop whinning w/e go ahead, im not coming back to this thread

Wow...

Can you tell that a lot of EVO owners upgraded recently? This is just sad.

Funny, I was just reading that thread wondering WTF was going on.

I replied with my thoughts, I gave him a mini lecture, topped off with a tiny slap to the face, bash a good phone based off of stupidity and you're bound to get a slap on the wrist by *someone* eventually.
I almost wanted to say send it my way...
Love your sig Zander, I was going to add that yesterday, ohwell.
It's funny, some of the complains by the OP indicated a dud and the slow 3g is just a sprint thing, but the one legitimate complaint he had about the screen dimming in direct sunlight due to overtemp was completely ignored. It's a documented "feature" and the Charge exhibits the same behavior. Must be a samoled+ thing.

And yes, the overall tone of the thread was incredibly childish. Glad I don't have to sift through that BS in my area.

Now guys, try to be nice. Although, I know it would've been hard to do without being sarcastic, did anyone ever try and just explain all of his problems?
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G Touch+Keyboard
His problem is he obviously never spends more than a month with any phone. Check his list of phones. This guy is a serial returner. Not happy with anything or he'd not be here complaining about his newest phone.

First android phone?

I apolgize if there is another topic like this on this forum.
Anyways, I was just wondering what your first android phone was! And if it wasn't the epic, why did you switch to the epic? I got curious after flashing froyo on my old moment and an epic 4g theme *Nostalgia* lulz

I got my first taste of android on the touch pro 2. One of the first windows mobile phones to have android ported to it.

the mighty moment was my first android phone too.. many MANY hours on SDX...
Went for Blackberry Storm to Epic. Blown away by the Epic. The only plus to the BB was the native Exchange email on the Blackberry works a lot better than the Android. Although in Froyo they did fix the embeded photos, I hate how it forwards everything as an attachment. Touchdown has fixed that issue for me, but it's a paid program.
Moment here also.

Also the G1 for me. But left for a minute to the Storm and a Blackberry Curve. Then came back to Android with the Hero, and then the Epic. Going to the Epic Touch shortly.

Moment here too; I used a ROM from Android Mobile Support and dearmas. It ran great I'd still be using it, but my wife bought me the epic for xmas I will certainly be using it for a while.
The Epic is my first as well. Tried some Android out on the TP2 after it was ported just like Austin.

This makes so much sense, I have generally slow speeds but I have noticed my data has returned to normal since it was reduced to a crawl right after the iphone launch, but now its how it was before, and I see both the towers next to me recently got capacity upgrades!

pretty cool, thanks for posting. in the next 6 months my area is getting some upgrades.
Nice. I am very excited.
They are putting work into my area. 34 upgrades and 1 new tower. 13 more updates in next 6 months. No wonder my 4g is stellar
