This makes so much sense, I have generally slow speeds but I have noticed my data has returned to normal since it was reduced to a crawl right after the iphone launch, but now its how it was before, and I see both the towers next to me recently got capacity upgrades!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
pretty cool, thanks for posting. in the next 6 months my area is getting some upgrades.
Nice. I am very excited.
They are putting work into my area. 34 upgrades and 1 new tower. 13 more updates in next 6 months. No wonder my 4g is stellar

They are haven't been any wimax 4g changes in quite a while nor will there be in the future.

This could be a big break for sprint. Think about nationwide 4g coverage even in remote areas because of satellite technology.
It is good know that sprint is actually thinking about the future.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've heard of them before this, apparently they have a huge problem with the frequency they are using. Since it is so close to the frequency gps satellites use their test towers effectively jammed all gps within a few mile radius of them. Definitely not going to fly with gps being maintained by the military.

Looks like fox picked up on this too; although it should say 4G is at least 1Gbs, not up to 1Gbs.

Yes, they still got some work to do. But once its all figured out, it'd be nice to see them arm and arm with Sprint.
I live in green bay wi.... and have always got horrible 3g speeds. Today tried speed test, and got 2.8 mbs. Usually only got around 300-500 kbs. Maybe sprints vision network is in place here!!

Wow, I had those 3G Speeds back when I had the HTC Hero.
Rev.B should be faster.
Your actually running the 3G speeds we should have but don't. So it would be even better for you when/if Rev. B rolls out.
Damn I'm definitely jealous only can get around 2mbps if I use the Verizon prl hack

I guess I'd be jealous of the packers too if I had to play them...hopefully they pull out a win at soldier field this weekend. Back on topic I'm glad the speeds improved around here on 3g, because I'm running MIUI no 4g.

I just found a spot near my local Publix where I was getting 3 and 4 bars of signal with WiMax, which I rarely ever see in my city.
I speed tested and was consistently getting 16-18mbps down and around 3mbps up.
I'm curious to see how that compares with what everyone else is getting on Sprint's 4g network.

Sprint's 4g is pretty good here in Cincinnati. I get about 6-7mbs down and 1 up at my apartment with one bar, but when I go outside I get about 10-12mbs down and 2 up with 3-4 bars.
Here is a screenshot. I wasn't on wifi, I was in the middle of a parking lot.
I wasn't getting 3mbps up here, but I have before.

If you mean the modem, yes...thought it was CM9.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yes, also on cm9a5 and I gets lots of lag when connected to 3g. Barely connect to 4g
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Thank you for posting this, I did seem to notice this today, it's like wtf? I could of sworn I had good signal in the past, then I seem to realize places where I had good bars is now a lot less. I thought it was CM9 too but it could be the damn modem. Guess we'll see what the future holds, wether it be a leak modem, or official.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I dont think its the modem, I think its sprint.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
It could be the modem. I've been on EH17 modem (too lazy to change) and I've noticed no decrease in my signal strength.

"Been running fb15 modem for past few days... Didn't have problem till today... Keep dropping to roaming and no data... I'm on 4g right now to send this msg... Any ideas? Rebooted phone.. Update prl and profile.. It's still flaky..
Maybe sprint is having a bad day?

Agreed.........signal on FB15 is a definite improvement over EL30 in this area.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I'm not sure if fb15 is better yet because sprint is screwing up my test!
My next test is soon to be if tmo is better than sprint in my area!

I'm seeing 1x a lot today in areas I would normally have 4 bars of 3g
I'm seeing a lot of 1x as well, I was on ec05 and had great signal but slow dl speeds but great signal but when I odind the fb15 I topped my all time high dl speed at 1.7 with one bar but still a lot of 1x. Crazy huh
+1 for it being sprint. I have been having it happen a lot lately and I am on EI22.
Is this result of the move to network vision? Or are they working on towers now?!? Hence the feast or famine signal.

Whats going to happen is that I am throwing my Epic4g into the trash the INSTANT there is an LTE network in my area and a Samsung Galaxy S III with LTE available.
Wouldn't the wimax network have allot less users when everyone starts moving to LTE? Shouldn't that make wimax faster until they kill it off?

Wimax is not going away.
Neither Sprint nor Verizon has Spectrum capacity to meet demand. Clear Does.

What use will I have for the phone when I get its replacement? Anything the Epic4g can do, my new phone can do better and faster. Might give the epic4g to a family member or hopefully microsoft brings back its stupid smoked by windows phone challange this summer and I can get a new one of those for free in trade and then sell it. Most likely though it would sit in a drawer for a year in case I need a backup phone and then into the garbage.
