[Q] Can't get into CWM after couple reboots. - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hello,
I've rooted a HTC Hero and flashed CWM on it.
But after a couple of reboots i try to get into recovery it gives me a black screen with a HTC hero and a triangle with in it a " ! "
so.. i cant boot into recovery.
What should i do ( also ADB doesn't work out.. )
Cheers,

It means it isn't installed properly. Which manual are you using to get the recovery installed?

I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 this manual and the manual wich is in my brain
( just flash out of rom manager )
But both stop working after 1 reboot

You probably haven't rooted properly.

Rooted with Universal Androot .. Also can get into su with terminal so it is rooted.

I'm a bit confused over here about the current situation, could you please clarify these questions:
- Did the recovery ever worked?
- The recovery doesn't work any more so it seems, can you boot into the ROM?
- Have you an unlocked bootloader? (if you don't know, probably not )

First of all you need to have fastboot enabled on your phone. This is a special boot mode that is disabled by LG. To get it you have to flash your phone with a fastboot-enabled rom. After that, camera+power will put your phone into fastboot and you will be able to flash recovery.
If you're somewhere in Europe, here's the current Europe Open ROM with fastboot:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/wld8b005fczc49a/Europe_Open_V20B_FASTBOOT.kdz
Okay thanks
And now the next stupid question :-/
On my HERO I flashed new ROMs using recovery
How do I flash a ROM on my LG ?
you can flash custom roms via fastboot or if the developer has made a recovery backup you can flash with that
After alot of googling, I found KDZ_FW_UPD
it got it to work

The real answer is if you have ICS, to install a custom recover or custom kernel you must have an unlocked bootloader.
The following resources are related to the new bootloader, a quick read of the OPs of the first two are highly recommended, even if you install with the third link. (This is to have a highlevel idea of what you are changing on your device, as it will help you find what you need to look closer at in future if something goes wrong, or possibly prevent a problem in the first case) bootloader thread civato's guide Afterota tool (windows users bootloader install tool)
If you already have the unlocked bootloader installed, but can't boot into recovery:
This is likely because you have a stock ICS rom overwritting recovery with the stock recovery in every boot; either use fastboot or (if you have root) a program such as acer recovery installer to force the install of a recovery and immediately reboot into it. (Most bootloader installers will also install a recovery that you can immediately boot into)
Once in recovery you can backup/restore/or install a rom modified to prevent the overwrite of recovery. (More advanced users can stop this from adb by removing some files)
Personally I use a lightly modified version of the stock rom you are using now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1661492
it ought to be safe to do a no wipe update to that and receive a more expected environment with a custom recovery, optional custom OC kernel, and busybox support.
However if you explore the dev section, many other (both more and less modified) versions of ICS roms exist. Themed and otherwise. So feel free to explore.

Help installing 4.1.2

Hi folks im trying to get my google nexus 7 to reboot into recovery mode but no matter what i do it just wont work, i have tried using adb and then using the command "adb reboot recovery" but when it goes to holding down power button and higher volume button ( I have tried other combinations too) nothing happens, it just seems to reboot. Does anybody have a way around this ? Seriously frustrating.
Unfortunately the new bootloader doesn't work correctly on your device. You have to replace the bootloader with the one from the previous version 3.34
I had rooted and installed CWM recovery early on. I installed Rom Manager (free version) and opened it and Flashed Clockwork Recovery. From then on and now with 4.1.2 installed, I can choose Reboot into Recovery from Rom Manager and I go right to CWM recovery. That's what I did to install 4.1.2 after installing Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. I updated successfully and kept root through the update. I never had to do anything like replacing the bootloader with an earlier version.
Ditto, I got bored waiting for the ota to kick in. Just downloading the update from Google dev then flashing with CWR I just said yes to the don't install new boot loader and retain root worked seamlessly!

[Q] [MB526] Does not install Recovery bootloader

Hi, i have rooted my phone with success. Managed to change it to 2.2 and back to 2.3.5 but both Clockworkmod recovery and 2ndInit does not install as bootloader (pressing power on + vol down key).
I always get the original android bootloader.
Any clue on how to bypass it and install the bootloader so I can install CM10 ?
ty
I see you're n00b. So first I suggest you to read Defy begginers guide. 2nd - defy bootloader is locked, so you can't replace stock bootloader & recovery. So we bypassing it via 2ndinit & 2ndboot. 3rd - you can install custom rom via 2ndinit.apk.

Hello,
"turffe" is right. before doing all that i advice you to understand what you do.
read the All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide and the wiki
... and check if you are really rooted using Root Checker
if you are, you just have to install a custom recovery (with 2ndInit Recovery Installer if you want) and then the rom of your choice.

I belive i have managed to install if after a few hours. The 2.3 version of 2ndInit is not working, but the version 2.0 did work on my first attempt.
So, if someone is also experiencing problems trying to install bootloader, try a previous version

Lost Custom recovery a while after i installed 4.4.4

Hi
I have a major problem!
I was following a guide and downgreaded to 4.4.2 . Installed Root and Custom recovery.
Installed 4.4.4 according to the guide i cant find right now and everything was working as it should! I then installed all apps i need and also Xposed framework,Busybox and another all in one tool.
Now when i try to boot into recovery mode its gone!
How do i get recovery back in a easy way or do i need to redo the process again by downgrading ? How did i loose recovery so i can avoid it again?

you lost recovery by installing and updating busybox...as stated on this forum dozens of times you CAN'T UPDATE busybox if you're on NUT dual recovery... The fix is easy, just run the dual recovery installer in your pc and the recovery will be back. Busybox is included with the recovery, no need to install it. if you read the dual recovery known issues you would know this, just search next time... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43698321&postcount=2

http://nut.xperia-files.com/ --> download this file: Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.0-RELEASE.installer.zip (23.91MB)
Enable USB Debugging on your phone, make sure correct drivers are installed on pc, run the installer for the recovery and choose option 1. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperSU.
Make sure you autorize your pc on your phone screen if asked. I've reinstalled / updated recovery lots of times on several z2's and it never failed, as long as root is working the install should succeed...
Thank you!
yes well i had the files but it didnt work until i first installed the drivers from flashtool again. Also i installed the ADB drivers i the 4th options of this tool . Now its working. Thanks again!
