Please Help Me Activate my Uni's 3g Connection - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello! Everyone,
I read a lot regarding on how to configure the settings of my Uni Dopod 900 in order to use 3g. However I failed to get the info I need. So now I decided to get some help.
I am not using 3g so much in the past months for I have access in WiFi hot spots in my area, however I've been traveling a lot these past months that I realized that I needed a 3g connection for some places doesn't have internet access.
I've just called their customer support but they are not useful at all. I have a dopod 900 running in windows mobile 5 with Globe SIM card in it. The problem is I can't connect to 3g using my dopod 900. I just configure the APN and setup the proxy according to the posts that I've read. And also according to my service provider's instruction (Globe |Philippines|). Still I can't connect.
Please help me activate my 3g connection. Thanks!!!

How to configure 3G?

Hi techies
I have recently brought a Cingular Connection with the data feature. The Data feature includes 3G service as well. However, I don't know how to configure 3G on my Imate-Jasjar. I have read at few places that there is some problem with the frequency bands in which 3G operates. So, just to add the info, I am living in washington in Redmond. Can anyone help me with this problem, How can I configure my Cingular 3G service on my Jasjar?
Thanks
As long as you have your phone settings on auto, it will automatically use 3g where it has a signal. The JasJar uses UMTS 2100, so I hope that's what is available in your area.

The Latest iMate Rom includes Operator CAB files.
You select your operation and it installs the settings for the selected operator in the Phone.
I have T-mobile NL. So by selecting it, it installed my acces point, MMS settings and GPRS Settings.
Other option is to go to the webside of your provider and find the options needed there.

I just checked the Cingular's website and found that Cingular has launched UMTS 1900 .
Is there any other way that I can get my jasjar work with UMTS 1900??
Thanks in advance
I'd like to know if anyone has 3g working on Cingular's network.
I don't think it can happen

3G Data Connection Stopped Working?

Hi all,
I've got a T-Mobile Vario II, and basically the 2G and 3G data connection had been working great on it.
However, since about a week or two ago, I cannot get any 3G data connection. It would connect to the T-Mobile Internet service, but it won't actually load any webpage - it just keeps saying "Locating", as if the DNS is down or something.
But if I go to a non-3G-covered area, the 2G data connection works great.
T-Mobile don't think there is a problem at their end.
Any idea/advice please?
Thanks.

Had the same problem with mine, phone up t-mobile tech support and ask them to enable HSPDA on your account, they will tell you it will make no difference but get them to do it anyway, it worked for me and download speeds are 3 times faster than 3G

Also double check they have really enabled it using DSL Reports
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1
you should expect 500+kb/s
There have been a couple of reports of them saying they will enable it but not really doing it!

HTC P3600 and Cingular

Sorry if this is a repost question guys, I searched but didn't come up with anything.
Anyway, I just ordered this phone and I'm pretty excited about it, my question is, I have Cingular and I was wondering if my area is 3G and I do have the upgraded 3G sim card, would the phone automatically detect these settings and work on 3G? Also will I have to configure anything to make the internet work via cingular?
Just another random question, how is the GPS on this phone? I know it's not a SiRFIII chip, but how does it compare? Thanks.
It should work fine unless your SIM is very old. Check 3G coverage map at Cingular website to see if your area has coverage. You will need to create wap or isp internet setting according to your data plan. Search here or Google for detailed information.
GPS is functional. It is certainly not as good as SIRF III, but has been working OK for me so far. It takes a bit longer to fix and reception is relatively weak compared to my Qtek G100. I noticed in my area G100 gets about 10 satellights at first fix while P3600 gets 5~6, and gradually gets more later on.
Thanks for the response, I checked out the cingular website and I found all the WAP and MMS settings so that's out of the way. Now I'm wondering something, if Wifi is enabled on the P3600 and I use IE, will it work off of the Wifi? and when wifi isn't enabled, will it work off cingular's internet? I don't have an unlimited data plan so I don't want it using cingular's internet when I have wifi enabled.
You'll probably need a 3G enabled sim card. I had to switch my card with Orange when I got my P3600.
I've been having some trouble on the Cingular network whilst I've been on holiday.
Vegas has been fine with 3G and HSDPA when I've used it. Drove up to Albuquerque and couldn't log on at all. I had to switch the phone settings to GSM only from auto and then it worked fine. That was for the whole 4 days I was there. Back in Vegas and back to normal on auto.

Cingular left me a message to come in and change my sim card about 7 months ago and I got the sim card chagned, were they just upgrading me to a 3G sim? Is 3G really good voice quailty or something? Is it noticable?
i'm using Cingular with my Trinity (P3600) and all is working very well. i also have the Smartphone Connect (unlimited) internet plan. with this plan, i use internet connection sharing and tether to my laptop as a modem...when in a 3G area, i get very good through-put or internet speeds... when using wi-fi, all my internet explorer, email and other internet access is funneled through wifi. i'm also using GPS w/TomTom 6.03. from a cold start, i can get a satellite fix in 30-90 seconds, and once connected i have no problems. i'm very pleased with the GPS performance. overall i am very happy with my device; it is certainly a keeper until something cooler, faster and with more functionality comes along. that says a lot for me; until i got the Treo 750v and the Trinity, i'd have a new device every 60-90 days. i've had 750v for 7 months and the Trinity for 2 months.

Sounds good, did you have to setup the WAP and MMS settings for cingular manually?
Just install this cab and it will set your settings for Cingular automatically.

HSDPA on Three Mobile

Hi
I'm with three mobile in UK (three.co.uk), and I'm unable to access HSDPA.
All I can ever get is 3G (with download speed of about 200kbit/s).
I've signed up for an add-on where the data plan should be unlimited.
I've configured the access point to be three.co.uk.
I talked to Three mobile customer service (who are quite useless as they never heard of HSDPA). Complained and complained and finally I got the answer saying because I'm using an unlocked phone HSDPA is not supported. Is this true?
Did anyone out there manage to get this working?
PS. I'm on the new LSVW rom with WM6.
Cheers

3UK havent release HSPDA in UK yet, The only place they testing HSPDA in LONDON AREA
I am in the London area.
Cheers,
Use fieldtest.exe found on this forum to see if your device receives a HSDPA signal. If it does, maybe your HSDPA icon is disabled. However, maybe HSDPA testing is available only to a limited group? I'd ask them to patch you through to the technical support
Thanks. Does anyone know what are the 3mobile settings (preferred access point)?
fieldtest is not showing any info on HSDPA.
D810 GPS ROM had enabled the showing of HSDPA signal.
If your network supports HSDPA, it would show a "H" on the main connection bar.

GPRS but no 3G

I have searched this forum for 3 weeks now but have not found an answer to my problem.... forgive me if it is here somewhere.
I have a pola200 running the official O2 WM6.1 ROM including the 1.59.42.15 radio. I have a vodafone SIM with full data enabled and am certain the internet settings are correct. I know the SIM works as I have tried it in another phone.
However, I can only connect to GPRS when using GSM as the band setting on the phone. As soon as I select Auto as the band setting and try to connect a data or voice call the signal drops and the connection fails.
I know that the phone is picking up a HSPDA or 3G signal as the icon changes but as soon as I try to connect to the internet or make a voice call I get a Dialed: internet -
I have tried all available Polaris radio ROMs and also tried loading udK's Diamond R8 ROM as I thought O2 may have loaded something to stop it working. Nothing has worked.
Any ideas?
Simple question, you probably have but, have you run the Connection Wizard and is the SIM card 3G compatible because my Vodafone SIM card isn't.
I have run the connection wizard and the SIM is certainly 3G compatible - it works in other 3G phones.
Hmm, then I'm stumped. Sorry I can't be of help.
