I have seen this happen sorta on my older 0003 phone. It went away. Happy I have a brand new 0004 now.
Try this clear the camera under applications the data. If that doesn't work try a battery pull if all else fails try to push on the camera lens it might have came off the board on the phone have seen this happen be4.
Let me know if this fixes your issue thanks.

This is probably a really dumb question, but I cant not figure out how to use the front facing camera, there is nothing in the manual on it, cant find anything on the net. Anyone know how to use it? Thanks!

It's on the Camera App. Go to the square and press Self Shot.

Thansks, appreciate it!
then apparently you have to reset all settings when you go back to normal camera unless mine is all screwed up. pretty stupid if you ask me.
My settings when switching back to single shot stay the same, doing hage to switch back anything at all.
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G
So mine is screwed up in some way. Ill test it. Thanks
Well it seems to work.definitely didn't work like that today
I'm trying to fix my bro's MT4G camera. The camera turned black about a week ago.
What I did:
A hard factory reset, still doesn't work. Bought a new camera to replace it, still doesn't work. Factory reset with new camera, nothing. Downgraded firmware, not working. This was all stock. Then after rooting and on CM7, with old camera, nothing. New camera, still nothing. Went back to stock, and still nothing/black. Tried downloading an app and the screen is still black. WTH can the problem be?! Really frustrating!!! Hopefully it has nothing to do with the hardware itself. Slowly giving up already.
Anyone have this problem or have a solution? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance if you guys can help.
bump
anyone?
You've more than exhausted all the repair possibilities I can think of. Sorry.

With any android rom fresh installed or not. Whenever the camera flash goes off or you try and use a flash light app the phone will restart itself. Im trying to figure out why this is happening if maybe its a defective part in the phone or maybe the battery is just not as strong as when I first got the phone? It was all working fine then all of a sudden just started doing this? anyone have any insight as to what might be going on?

This as soon as the flash is triggered? Does it actually light up?
If it is on for some time and it gets hot - maybe..
You can check the battery contacts and make sure all three line up without any sticking out though I have not seen that problem cause a reboot.

The flash pops on for a split second then the phone reboots.

Sounds almost like it creates a surge..
Does it also happen while the device is plugged in to a charger?
Assuming it is neither the battery nor the battery contacts I would suspect some hardware issue. Can't think of anything better at the moment. :'(

Agreed with ny_limited, I'd think it's a hardware issue.

If the issue here is the light hardware of the HD2 you probably should stick with that, many phones do not have it and it's not a big problem. I also do few pictures with my HD2 and I can tell you this, without the flash the pictures are much better.
Even if you want to replace the flash light which cost 10 bucks, you can damage you phone and is not a good idea.
Last option which you miss is the Torch light it self.
Probably some Phone Center can do this job for you for few bucks but you should go to ask them how much they want to replace that part.
So Good Luck.
Hello
I'm seeing this is happening to other than just me, and im wondering if its a fault in the s4?
The issue started after i did update to 4.3 (or whatever the latests update was).
I noticed that when it repports, the top-part of the screen is alot warmer than the bottom. The battery itself is barly warm at all. On the back, when the camera is facing me, the left side seems to get especailly warm.
Before having to factory reset my phone, i was wondering if there is anything else i could possibly do to fix the issue?

Hello mate try to check the Serial Number of your battery. If the S/N starts with BD, Then you need to change it right away. Or try with a spare one if you have and check if your problem will get fix If not then feel free to send your phone in Customer service for Repair Have a nice day.

You can check this thread mate and Goodluck Dnt forget to hit that thanks Button for me haha thanks
Ofcause . Thank you very much for the help!
I had that
I have experienced that several times and it always ended up beeing kernel problems, modem problems or other software related issues.
Hi al.. I have my s8 from around 2 mounts with no problem but from about 2_3 Days i se that my back camera if i dont use it or close it în task manager when i turn IT up again i have to shake my phone to focalize.. Than it works fine but next time i use it i have to shake again to focus.
Does others have this problem.. Its my phone camera or software?
PS.. When i shake i hear a focus sound in the back.. Like a click.
I think it's your phone camera, mine is still great... Did you drop it?
I dif not drop it... I have found others with this problem.. In order to make the camera focus you need to shake it.. It's very annoying..
Lightly whack the phone and the focus comes back on.

Wife's complaining about the same issue. This is a COMMON problem with the S8(+). Sigh.. Samsung are useless.. cannot get a phone done properly these days.
I had the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S6. Annoyi ng focus problem. Last week i update the S6 to Nougat and the problem was not everytime but sometimes. Its a strange problem. My S8 dont have this problem. I hope my S8 dont come with this problem. What you can do is reset everything wipe everything and try it again. I hope this solved your cam problem
Yes it is pretty common problem on many S8 and S8+ devices. There are thousands of users which have this problem, and it is HW problem, not SW. This will be new #cameragate issue. To test if it's caused by HW simply enter service mode by typing code *#0*# and select MEGA CAM button. If there is problem with focusing too, you have problem with camera module which is stuck and not properly lubricated.
Yeah I notice mine is blurry from time to time. Annoying when I'm trying to take pictures of my kids, ordered the Pixel XL 2 and cant wait to get rid of Samsung.
