Thank so much first for developt who create custom rom for us..,first time read about a custom roms,iam so interesting and try many custom roms in this forum..,but after try one and other roms..,i feel its nothing special.,why?..there are just changing in font and launcher compare with se stock rom..,and so many app for froyo cant work this custom roms and its decrease we our sofware phone with cant everthing work and no bugs like se stock rom..,sory for say that ..its a fact.

Agreed. Only true roms are racht roms, minicm, and elelinux...
All others are just themed crap.

That's true as far as android 2.2 is concerned. For android 2.3 we have racht, jepelea, owain and the lates miniCM7 port, which is, to say, not quite ready for daily use yet

How long i must wait to get real froyo from sony ?.,i dont like custom room coz so many bugs, so many problem,and so difficul,want to get real froyo not a fake like a custom rom..

Bootloader is the part of the phone that checks files when you try to update it, so it makes sure that the software you're installing is from sony...For now it has only been bypassed a bit through Xrecovery(that means we have custom ROM but no custom kernel....) . What we're waiting for is complete bootloader crack and we're very close...soon we'll have gingerbread and froyo with no problems + Dualtouch
How can u be sure that we ll get dualtouch?

sound good...,are its mean if we can passed bootloader,we can modif anything and change totally system on phone without constraints license system sony?.,but are it not to danger for phone?..,for sample..,if we modif totally system but if we have a brick and error..,can we repair its with seus?..i dont think so.,custom roms its danger but pass bootloader its more danger...

sony said that only x10 will receive android 2.3 in this year. Not plans for x8, today I installed cm7 fo racht, much better than official of SE, now i don1t have problem with space, i can install everything

Are you sure want to wait official ROM from SE forever?
If SE don't update x8 to froyo or above, are you keep waiting?
I think using Costume ROM is better option for now. Better than Eclair from SE. you can install many app. Even there some bugs and problems, many developer there to fix this. So just wait to fix better than wait forever from SE.

It's better for some things.
But it does have a completely unworking camera [neither pics or videos], disabled FM, SD safe to remove reboots, and some other bug.
I also have this custom rom installed, because I have a Sony Alpha A-55 to shot some pics and don't ever need the X8 one... but this doesn't let me say that stock eclair is worst than any other custom kernel.
AFAIK, there is not a 100% full working custom rom til now.
The one and only rom which is 100% working is SE stock rom..

i will not wait for se official update because it won't happen but my hope now is that the devs here bypass this damn bootloader and give us custom kernel and a 100% working custom roms i cross my fingers !! go go brilliant devs we are all with you guys !

You'll never get the official Froyo from Sony..
They won't build one for X8..
The only way to get one is from custom ROMS..
Try elelinux v3, it's the most stable froyo rom.. No bugs at all.. Even for the rooted apps..

Even the official from se still not perfect and they wont release it for x8.i hv try many roms here and currently xcyanogen shakira are the best in my opinion..smooth not like the other roms.

I think the best one is the stock JVP, with a fugumod kernel. Install a deodexed so you can install mods, like gtalk with video, a Gingerbread theme and you're good to go!

Tweaky's ROM, DarkCore kernel, Gingerbread launcher from Market. Best combination for me. Fast, stable and nice looking (stock glass screen, stock Gingerbread theme, 3D app drawer).

The best rom that i've just found for my SGS after 2 months is:
Rom: RomKitchen jvp (all the basic stuff, you don't need all the crappy things for Samsung) with Modem JVP
Kernel: Semaphore_kernel_JVP_1.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908).
New drivers, compatible with Tegra: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427).
I removed for caution software update process.
I OC'ed my phone to 1200 mhz and works very well. Only one freeze in 5 days.
The Quadrant score is ~ 2200 - 2750. (i know it's irrelevant but i had to mention about this)
The phone is really fast - i can compare with CM7.
The battery life is very very good.
Take a try and tell me if you like it.

agreed dont know how everyone can say get gingerbread when it has bugs that are not in 2.2.1..
there is a battery drain bug .. may be fixed in 2.3.4 not sue
there is a non working vpn bug over 3g
there is a non working adhoc wifi supplicant
bug
non of these bugs are in 2.2.1
also my favorite kernel for 2.1.1 is speedmod.. i gut almost 3 days of battery.

Don't forget that while CM7 is a fully independent ROM, and MIUI is based on CM, all the others are based on stock.
So by taking a clean deodexed stock and patching it, you can get exactly what you want - but not the crappy themes and buggy mods we often find in stock - based ROMS.
Actually the best ROM is probably the one yoi generate from the kitchen, but I don't know if JVP is available yet.

some have more battery time and some look better than the others.

there are no such best ROM, but features u wanna have on custom ROMs. U need to know what is ur preference then choose ur own custom ROM.
Speed? definately CM7 but its still on beta.
Speed and features? Juwe's but a bit dull on the black and white.
SGS 2 apps? Tweaky ROM
Kernel? I suggest Talon 1200. Still on dev but still gives best performance and battery saving.

This set up is for R800i.
1.) Firmware
Use ftf .62
2.) Custom Kernel
Flash Lupus ICS (ICS beta based)
3.) Custom Rom
Flash Sechko_JJ's Hybrid Rom
(stable, clean and amazingly fast)
Touchpads and Games run well on this rom too
That' all LOL. I've tried most of the popular roms for R800i and got fed up with the bugs and low ram availability. Try these out =) you guys wont regret it.

Yeah sorry I can't recommend any set up for the other versions of the Play. Just wanted to share this and maybe someone might find this helpful. I just got tired of switching between roms. I've tried MIUI, Mark's roms and all of Sechkos ports. For the record all the roms that I mentioned are nice and they work well, but my current set up works great for me. I hope someone will try this and like this set up like I do. =)
Btw im new to all this rooting, flashing and all that hehe. I'm still learning. I think im already hooked to the forums and modding my play now LOL.
