Hey ,
guys what is the best ROM rigth now for SGS ( ROM + kernel )?
im looking for good battey and the fastest that can be xD
i dont care about the design
what u guys think?
the ROMs i have been told that good are
Simply Honey
CM7
what u guys think about this 2 ROMs ?
I think the best one is the stock JVP, with a fugumod kernel. Install a deodexed so you can install mods, like gtalk with video, a Gingerbread theme and you're good to go!

but what if i will flash that kernel with simply honey rom?
its may work or its will make a problems?
Try juwe you won't regret
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
juwe's with semaphore kernel
(ROM) GingerCriskelo V7x
[KERNEL] DarckCore 2.7.3
2gether are flyin'
I'm using the Simply Honey since 3.5 but the last one 3.6.1 is very nice and stable.
@Elia: just try some ROMs and you'll find your favourite one.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Go for what's in my signature.. And i've tried lots of gingerbread.
juwe rom + dark core kernel for me. fast n nice theme
Tweaky's ROM, DarkCore kernel, Gingerbread launcher from Market. Best combination for me. Fast, stable and nice looking (stock glass screen, stock Gingerbread theme, 3D app drawer).
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S running Tweaky's ROM with XXJVP Gengerbread
The best rom that i've just found for my SGS after 2 months is:
Rom: RomKitchen jvp (all the basic stuff, you don't need all the crappy things for Samsung) with Modem JVP
Kernel: Semaphore_kernel_JVP_1.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908).
New drivers, compatible with Tegra: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427).
I removed for caution software update process.
I OC'ed my phone to 1200 mhz and works very well. Only one freeze in 5 days.
The Quadrant score is ~ 2200 - 2750. (i know it's irrelevant but i had to mention about this)
The phone is really fast - i can compare with CM7.
The battery life is very very good.
Take a try and tell me if you like it.

agreed dont know how everyone can say get gingerbread when it has bugs that are not in 2.2.1..
there is a battery drain bug .. may be fixed in 2.3.4 not sue
there is a non working vpn bug over 3g
there is a non working adhoc wifi supplicant
bug
non of these bugs are in 2.2.1
also my favorite kernel for 2.1.1 is speedmod.. i gut almost 3 days of battery.

Don't forget that while CM7 is a fully independent ROM, and MIUI is based on CM, all the others are based on stock.
So by taking a clean deodexed stock and patching it, you can get exactly what you want - but not the crappy themes and buggy mods we often find in stock - based ROMS.
Actually the best ROM is probably the one yoi generate from the kitchen, but I don't know if JVP is available yet.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've tried various gingerbread stock roms and found JPJV6 the fastest and energy saver
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Goatrip 2.0 for me, best ROM by far & I've been through a few
there is no one "BEST ROM" the question is what you looking for.
some have more battery time and some look better than the others.
so like isaid, the question is what you need and want
JVP with Tegrak under ONEnand Mode I suppose.

there are no such best ROM, but features u wanna have on custom ROMs. U need to know what is ur preference then choose ur own custom ROM.
Speed? definately CM7 but its still on beta.
Speed and features? Juwe's but a bit dull on the black and white.
SGS 2 apps? Tweaky ROM
Kernel? I suggest Talon 1200. Still on dev but still gives best performance and battery saving.
had darky, cyanogen, and now i'm trying Ryyu's EDB
i want the latest rom... like you not stock

I can see that you are looking for custom ROM, but if you want the best, go with XXJPN, clean, stable and fast, you wont get over hyped quadrant scores but you'll get butter smooth and fast phone. Custom ROMS for SG3 are buggy and overbloated. If you are looking for overclock, just flash Fugumod kernel in XXJPN. JIT, Lagfix, SWAP, Compcache, deodex etc. do more harm than good, and really just pump your benchmark scores, no real performance gains.

Custom ROMS for SG3 are buggy and overbloated?? Why do you say that?
lestatious 1.8 with fugumod 2.2 is very good and stable!! one of the best roms that ive seen!!
and galactic blur rom is the newest rom and has very few bugs or hardly any bugs as far as i know..!!
kyrillos rom is also very popular here i havent tried it though!!
Then some roms like apocalypse and indroid are in beta stage and will be bugfree soon!!
so you do have many choices eh!!
clarkkov said:
Well, bugs span from themes to core system functionality. I have no intention to count all of the bugs here. I guess bloat is a personal preference, it depends what apps are you using. I don't use half of the included apps/hacks/mods in (better known) custom ROMs so they are nothing but bloatware for me.
Now, don't get me wrong, I respect custom ROM developers, but it's just not my thing for reasons I stated above. I think there are too many custom ROMs and they actually don't offer anything special, all hacks/mods are developed and available individually.

i know for this ones i've flashed myself and tested a lot:
Kyrillos' rom 9.4(i didn't update to 9.5 )
Kyorarom Ascendency 0.5.1(i didn't update to 0.5.2)...
those two were the most stable, nice looking, fast....for me
but now i'm on (check signature) and i just can't get of it....it's stable, faaaasttt like SR71...and i like it....a looot...but it's not complete as is based on cm7a7 and has same problems as^^^....but for me it's just fine

Thanks. I just flashed Kyrillos' rom v9.0 NON OC version.
i tried almost all roms best and fastest i ever used is Kyorarom Ascendency v0.5.1
i have never had so fast rom before if you want your phone to work fast than flash this rom but if you want your phone to have good games and be slower then flash kyrillos that rom is good too but slower
I will give her the phone to use it and after a few days if she doesn't like it i'll try this one too.
Thanks.
I thinks the better is Kyrillos Rom !
I think Kyrillos is a good ROM (I won't say the best because I didn't test all ROMs).
The version 9.5 has a very good power management, the battery real last longer, and performances are here, the app2sd works like a charm.
I never had any problems with this ROM.
Now I'm using Kyrillos 10, it work fine to, but I feel like battery last a bit less than in 9.5, I had problems with App2SD (now using Link2SD and it's fine).
Please... many threads like this have already been closed. All our phones may be galaxy3, just that one rom may lag on one and may be super smooth and lagfree on another. DM lagged on my phone but was the fastest rom on some. Kyorarom was the fastest on my galaxy 3. Please there is no best rom, as user a will say kyrillos, user b says kyorarom, user c says dutchmods, etc, etc. Please no more such threads...

Hello all, this is my first post and I have some queries. As we all know the new Samsung firmware JP2 has many bugs like Swype not working, Battery draining very fast etc. I want to know which is most stable ROM which doesn't have these problems.
I don't want to try any custom ROM because of overclocked processor as it will short it's life and void the warranty. I am thinking to flash the JPN ROM but though to get advice before doing anything. I hope it won't have any effect if I use European firmware as I am from India. I am currently using JP6.
I think you should be using Kyrillos' ROM. It's very stable.
Opt for a non-overclocked custom, you won't regret it If you really want to stay using stock roms, i'd suggest JPM/JPN.

I'm testing it. Let's go with me.
customs are a balance and trade off
well stock ROM may be the most stable but from my experience of experimentations with different roms, and i've tried many roms, if you are thinking of intalling many applications then stock roms are just useless as you would get blank/black screens too often in the stock Tw launcher as the applications try to load from SD card, where you will have to install them for want of space. so if you want to try lot of applications you will have to go for a custom rom with ext2/ext4 support. after trying many custom roms i've finally stopped at POX v 1.0 non oc. Its silky smooth and thats after installation of more than 43 third party apps/games, though you will have to live with some minor glitches which you wont mind. Yes stay away from OC versions as they drain your battery and freeze your phone. The hardware (processor) structure if galaxy3 if not designed for overclocking though it may be overclocked.
XWJPF + go launcher ex
perfect combination..no lags blazingly fast
(oh yes i,ve also rooted my phone and have set cpu.. , so maybe thats y..still XWJPF...no problems)
i have JPM and thinking of moving to XWJPN.
how is it that JPM is pre-rooted if it is official samsung firmware?
I think you should be using Kyrillos' ROM too. It's very stable.
Samsung engineers aren't idiots or fools.. JP2 is d most stable ROM for this phone. I have used custom roms and trust me..there ain't any ROM more stable.

Then i think you should try using the latest European firmware, XWJPF. Its far better than DDJP2. Trust me.
Lol JP2 has many bugs including battery draining issue. How come it is more stable?
Confused between multiple opinions. Might add a poll soon.
If you were to use custom roms, use the Non oc version by Kyrillos. From all the roms that i have tried (there have been many), i have found Kyrillos to be the best.
If you were to use regular Firmwares, the best i believe is either JPF or JPM. A lot of them out there still support JPF, while the constant flashers would recommend the JPM
BTW...Kyrillos is based on JPM
XXJPM by Kyrillos, safe flash and very stable
No worries, I think I have the perfect solution for you... In a few minutes I'll be posting my ROM, which is exactly what you need - because I made this ROM for I had the same problems as you!
Also, I'm writing this, coz I want to post it in the development section but I need 10 posts for that...
There are a lot of ROMs and as far as I see, you should try more then one, because everybody likes a different version...
Yeah, so here I am again. Uploaded, you might even try it - see if the problems go away!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079052
Now don't mind using any custom ROM if it is stable and good to use.
Poll added just to solve some confusion between multiple choices.
InDroid
InDroid v4 looks good n is going to be released soon
i would prefer non OC as it is more stable but u can look for OC as well!
Allthough I use my own custom ROM, I vote for Kyrillos's ROM because it's very stable and fast. I use it for a long period and I was very pleased.
Kyrillos ROM is not only stable, but gives you the choise of OC or Non OC capability!
All that matters to me is speed, stability and battery life.
I have been running Darkys 9.2 for a long time now, but the battery life is getting to be very poor, so looking to try out something new.

In my opinion, there isn't a perfect rom in this world which matches your description. However, if I were to choose one, I would choose Cyanogenmod 7. It is currently on Nightly, but it is stable enough for daily usage. Battery life is not that good, but its speed complements it, combined with loads of customisations available.
I hope that helps, mate

Thanks guys will give s.u.r.f.a.c.e a shot!
Just out of interest, does it have a lagfix like Darkys rom?
Cyanogen's battery issues are keeping me away from it for now.
I have it on my wife's wildfire and its a completely new animal since I flashed it.

And one advantage, as this is ROM for HD2, based on Windows Mobile 6.5, it is even more irrelevant for him than yours...

Take stock ROM, root it, de-bloat it (uninstall all the system apps you don't use), set up SuperCharger and you're good to go.
Don't be fooled, only CM7 is a real custom ROM.
All the rest fall into the category I described: rooted, bebloated stock ROMs.
Oh! And if you need extra speed and you're willing to sacrifice a few hours of battery life, unlock bootloader and flash a custom kernel.
That should do it.

Agreed. No point messing around with custom ROMs when the stock ROM only needs cleaned up a bit. Don't see the benefit in Supercharger if you have already uninstalled all the crapware as there's nothing running on the CPU to consume the battery power
I have had the LT18i since it came out and it's lightning fast and the battery life is great. Nuff said

Yes I did the same. But still Arconium is a lot faster and lag-free compared to cleaned stock with supercharger and the same overclocking. Really it's the best and fastest rom together with CM (if you like that) and I tried a lot. The only downside is you will get worse battery performance in stand-by (twice as worse; up to 3%/h)when you install a custom overclock kernel even at the same clock speeds. So first try with stock kernel and of you need more speed (like 1.4GHz) go to custom kernels.
IMO Complete custom ROM is MIUI as if now with less bugs. CM has few bugs that has to be fixed. As stated above other are just modified version of stock.
@iridaki : When can we see your T.E.A.M ROM?
arconium + doomkernel is the best of all !
miui is same as cm7 is video camera lags..
