How long i must wait to get real froyo from sony ?.,i dont like custom room coz so many bugs, so many problem,and so difficul,want to get real froyo not a fake like a custom rom..
i think that sony won't give us froyo
and custom roms aren't "fake", they are real !!! and they are really good you just nedd to choose one

i am using jerpelea's cm7 and there is everything what i need and if you want another phone go and buy it but i won't buy another because x8 has good developers and they are just few steps away from bypassing bootloader ...

Bootloader is the part of the phone that checks files when you try to update it, so it makes sure that the software you're installing is from sony...For now it has only been bypassed a bit through Xrecovery(that means we have custom ROM but no custom kernel....) . What we're waiting for is complete bootloader crack and we're very close...soon we'll have gingerbread and froyo with no problems + Dualtouch
How can u be sure that we ll get dualtouch?

sound good...,are its mean if we can passed bootloader,we can modif anything and change totally system on phone without constraints license system sony?.,but are it not to danger for phone?..,for sample..,if we modif totally system but if we have a brick and error..,can we repair its with seus?..i dont think so.,custom roms its danger but pass bootloader its more danger...

If SE don't update x8 to froyo or above, are you keep waiting?
I think using Costume ROM is better option for now. Better than Eclair from SE. you can install many app. Even there some bugs and problems, many developer there to fix this. So just wait to fix better than wait forever from SE.

It's better for some things.
But it does have a completely unworking camera [neither pics or videos], disabled FM, SD safe to remove reboots, and some other bug.
I also have this custom rom installed, because I have a Sony Alpha A-55 to shot some pics and don't ever need the X8 one... but this doesn't let me say that stock eclair is worst than any other custom kernel.
AFAIK, there is not a 100% full working custom rom til now.
The one and only rom which is 100% working is SE stock rom..

i will not wait for se official update because it won't happen but my hope now is that the devs here bypass this damn bootloader and give us custom kernel and a 100% working custom roms i cross my fingers !! go go brilliant devs we are all with you guys !

You'll never get the official Froyo from Sony..
They won't build one for X8..
The only way to get one is from custom ROMS..
Try elelinux v3, it's the most stable froyo rom.. No bugs at all.. Even for the rooted apps..

u'll need root to install xRecovery,
then from the "X10 Android Development", choose a suitable rom for yourself and follow the instructions made by the developer

No, there is no official 2.2 ROM for the X10 and there never will be.
So, to install 2.2 you'll need a custom ROM, cooked by the extremely clever and dedicated folk here at XDA. To get a 2.2 ROM on your phone, you need to install xRecovery. To install xRecovery you need to root your phone. If you want to backup your Apps (highly recommended), you need Titanium Backup, which requires root access. All the 2.2 ROMs available include root access.
If you're worried about rooting your phone, you probably need to stick to a stock SE 2.1 ROM.
There's no risk in rooting, you can always unroot without/and/or revert(ing) to your stock. but I'm guessing since you're running the 2.1 (current build) in america, you're not worried about stock. Don't fear the root!
Also, flashing roms with xreovery (also need busybox) is painless, fun and addictive; plus you can make complete backups of your current state, just incase you f-it up

I use the Renderio cyangen 6.1.3 and i love it. Extremly stable

I use CM 6.1.3 v 4.2 and it's the best of all Froyos on x10. But I want my Camera. it dose not work fully.
As long as bootloader is not open, Froyo is just a ROM on to pof 2.1.... so no 100% Froyo

but even not being "true" froyo, those custom ROMs still run better than 2.1 and you can use all froyo features like app 2 sd and adobe flash, it's worth a try and even fun to check different builds and see what each dev added.
So far i've tryed rendeiro's and wolfbreak's cyanogen 6.1.3 ROMs, i prefer the later because i like to tweak the UI myself, but both run great.

try Vignette, but the "deprecated version" and not the "new version". it's the best i've tested so far, only one that works at 8 megapixel.

Thank so much first for developt who create custom rom for us..,first time read about a custom roms,iam so interesting and try many custom roms in this forum..,but after try one and other roms..,i feel its nothing special.,why?..there are just changing in font and launcher compare with se stock rom..,and so many app for froyo cant work this custom roms and its decrease we our sofware phone with cant everthing work and no bugs like se stock rom..,sory for say that ..its a fact.

That's true as far as android 2.2 is concerned. For android 2.3 we have racht, jepelea, owain and the lates miniCM7 port, which is, to say, not quite ready for daily use yet

Yeah a stable fully working ICS would be very good. Zdzihu is abroad and have not enough tools and time there so any dev helping would speed up the Development alot. I think 4.0 is very good and we all should help with our knowledge to get it working.

I know ICS is amazing
But I don't quite have the knowledge to cook drivers etc.
I can't even download the android source code at the stupid Internet speed I have ...
All can do is mod
If I knew driver coding I would surely help him

I haven't change the stock ROM, since it was released (I used to flash froyo and eclair roms once a week, now Kernels only).
Simply in my opinion, stock SE rom is finer than any MIUI or AOSP roms
Why don't you develop a new more advanced kernel for 2.3.7 - 4.0.1. Many believe that the 2.6.29 Kernel is holding things back.

well even custom roms hav reached a certain level of stability,froyo roms are gud wen its abt stability and daily use
hated wen i was on stock 2.1
i don`t no all of them have some stick some time i don` no what is the best and realy stalble for use if the rom not stable for use why i flash my phone for it we want some thing practical and fun
