[Q] Need help to port a Gingerbread (2.3.3) ROM to HD2

Hi. I am keen to learn how to port a Gingerbread ROM which I like to HD2 and would appreciate if someone could advice or recommend me the place to start. The closest I found was in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898215 but someone mentioned that it is already outdated as the advice would only work with older android version.

I am not sure if this is call making an android Rom ... what I want to know is if I see a good gingerbread rom from the HTC desire for example, how can I "cook" it for hd2?

Yeah I think u mean making,cooking a rom for HD2,not flashing it to HD2 ,right?
I think u need to put alot of time to make a good stable rom.that's y I prefer to download one and just flash it and see how it runs

Yes. I am not referring to flashing it but cooking it for hd2. I have already tried a couple of the custom Gingerbread Rom for hd2 but am not entirely satisfied so I decide to cook one for myself based on the other HTC handsets.

Aha I see,I'm using BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.3 RAM_V5 and so far it's great.
ppl also recommend this:
TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 RC2 v2.6.2 [2.3.3][A2SD][tytung r7]
but if u wanna make ur own rom ,if I'm not wrong u can find a Chief program easy to cook a rom for ur desires ,but I'm not 100 percent sure it's an entire rom or just the interface ,I never tried that, have a look at that.

Been using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 rom on my device this rom updates very quickly

Waiting froyo from sony for my x8...

How long i must wait to get real froyo from sony ?.,i dont like custom room coz so many bugs, so many problem,and so difficul,want to get real froyo not a fake like a custom rom..

i think that sony won't give us froyo
and custom roms aren't "fake", they are real !!! and they are really good you just nedd to choose one

How can u say its a real..,its so many bugs and problem.,why dont just sell x8 and buy other phone with froyo,i think now its so many froyo phone with cheap price..samsung maybe.yeah...good idea..hahaha.

i am using jerpelea's cm7 and there is everything what i need and if you want another phone go and buy it but i won't buy another because x8 has good developers and they are just few steps away from bypassing bootloader ...

Bootloader is the part of the phone that checks files when you try to update it, so it makes sure that the software you're installing is from sony...For now it has only been bypassed a bit through Xrecovery(that means we have custom ROM but no custom kernel....) . What we're waiting for is complete bootloader crack and we're very close...soon we'll have gingerbread and froyo with no problems + Dualtouch

How can u be sure that we ll get dualtouch?

sound good...,are its mean if we can passed bootloader,we can modif anything and change totally system on phone without constraints license system sony?.,but are it not to danger for phone?..,for sample..,if we modif totally system but if we have a brick and error..,can we repair its with seus?..i dont think so.,custom roms its danger but pass bootloader its more danger...

SO COSTUME ROMS ARE FAKE AND GOOGLE'S SOFTWARE MODED BY SONY ERICSSON IS REAL..... are you sure..?

sony said that only x10 will receive android 2.3 in this year. Not plans for x8, today I installed cm7 fo racht, much better than official of SE, now i don1t have problem with space, i can install everything
try before make an opinion

Absolute..,however, original roms update more perfect beside non official...

Are you sure want to wait official ROM from SE forever?
If SE don't update x8 to froyo or above, are you keep waiting?
I think using Costume ROM is better option for now. Better than Eclair from SE. you can install many app. Even there some bugs and problems, many developer there to fix this. So just wait to fix better than wait forever from SE.

The likelihood of getting stock GINGERBREAD IS MORE LIKELY THAN stock FROYO.

It's better for some things.
But it does have a completely unworking camera [neither pics or videos], disabled FM, SD safe to remove reboots, and some other bug.
I also have this custom rom installed, because I have a Sony Alpha A-55 to shot some pics and don't ever need the X8 one... but this doesn't let me say that stock eclair is worst than any other custom kernel.
AFAIK, there is not a 100% full working custom rom til now.
The one and only rom which is 100% working is SE stock rom..

i will not wait for se official update because it won't happen but my hope now is that the devs here bypass this damn bootloader and give us custom kernel and a 100% working custom roms i cross my fingers !! go go brilliant devs we are all with you guys !

You'll never get the official Froyo from Sony..
They won't build one for X8..
The only way to get one is from custom ROMS..
Try elelinux v3, it's the most stable froyo rom.. No bugs at all.. Even for the rooted apps..

help porting arc rom to x8

hi guys
i m trying to port xperia arc rom to x8
i download the rom and extracted it
now it has 2 folders in it
system
meta-inf
what things i have to do to port the rom
i m new to these things and i really want to do this
i've already read some threads

Given the fact, that ARC and X8 did not share any hardware, I don't really think that it is an easy job, but I'm not a dev, so I can just wish luck to you for it!

What's your desired end result? Do you want an x8 with an arc like UI? There's a rom called arc x8 you might wanna try if that's the case. If you want a GB rom with SE resemblance try Gingercruzt and install the arc launcher. Both options give you an arc-ish looking phone. As for performance arc x8 is great for gaming and it's overclocked to 710 by default. Gingercruzt is not perfect but is very fast and smooth. Has the common GB rom bugs. For any other questions, probs, requests etc PM me. I'll help with what I can. I too at one point wanted arc stuffs on my phone lol. Good luck

basically i wanted to start porting roms so i started with arc cause i liked they way arc looked mediascape timescape and its fancy interface btw i have used those roms u mentioned they are good but want a complete arc rom

dont waste your time man.x8 has ARM6 CPU arc has ARM7.alot difference between too and you need drivers so hardware works

X8 and Arc are completely different phones and if you have no knowledge on developing... then forget it.

he just want to port, its not easy but i think its possible.
of course not complete same features as arc, but the complete same looks will be possible right?

hey bro. listen my advice to you would be to go for a sense rom. many people are wanting a sense rom thats fully working at the moment. i have bassicly got 1 nearlly fully working just have to get the right kernel working on it. and sort out mass storage then its done. but if you need any help with resizing apps and help with lib and that then just send me a PM and ill mail right back good luck mate

So, look at racht. He can port Legend and Hero, the more is Salsa!
Like this too, whatever the spec is different but i think it will be great and possible to port it.

but, can nebody develope 1.6 stock rom to the current rom...
mean a 1.6 rom featured with all 2.3 features.., xloud, bravia, fps uncap,etc..
i want to have a rom with the sony x10 royal 1.6 look and featuring as well as haveing all capacity of 2.3.4......
Can ne one do that..?????

take a look to the custom roms that you'll find into xda forum, I think that there are some roms that preserve the sony ericsson features as you ask..

2.No keyboard-install better keyboard(open zip files and install both apks)

4.Only have 2 lang(Eng & Chinese)i dont mind cause i always use English.

Yeah man...give it a try & pls post any comment in here.if anybody have better menthod to improve this rom,u are welcoming to share it.Im not sure if everything is working.As i know all basic fet. is working fine(call,msg,bt,wifi,games,camera&music).For me,i satisfy with it because it has difference UI from other CM7 roms.Im gonna stick with it until Paul xxx release full working version of CM9.(nobody will say no to ICS)

I don't know, Why some peoples are unliking the rom,
I found it really nice.
I had attached Antutu Benchmark screenshot.
You can see , its a great score without memory card score.
This rom is great in my views because it have a good UI with good performance.
It already stated that it has Poor 3D score.
I flashed Adreno library for ALFS ICS kernel.

LOL didnt' know someone will post this rom here man i think u need permission from original thread (there is a link on xperiax8.com.pl) Bcoz xda is dev site unlike xperiax8. I mean xperiax8 is site where u can find everything to our x8 i was just posting a rom there to get to know others from my country About keyboard etc. i just simply took one from GDX and its working
P.S. Thsi rom should be working with all kernels (im using Stock kernel and its pretty fast)

Thanks uremytoy,its would be great news for our bro & sis With stock kernel.Many of them cant unlock bootloader and stuck with it forever.This rom will be good alternative for them.
