hello,im new to xperia x8,but not so new to xda.i was messing with android on xperia x1 for a long time but i dont have to anymore.i have original donut android on my x8,the version is 2.2.1.and it has really big amount of fps,44.2 fps!now i was wondering,can i put some other android,like cyanogenmod?and if i can,will it run with lower preformance or bigger?

sure you can, just read threads that Devs post here, then you can choose one of them. first step you have to upgrade to 2.1, root, make sure you have the latest baseband and kernel version. all the step by step tutorial you can find it here. thats all i've done
EDIT : you have donut 2.2.1 version?

Donut is the 1.6 version. If you have 2.1 it's Eclair And yes, you can install whichever ROM you wish. The most stable and fully-working would be miniCM 2.2.1, but you might as well flash some of 2.3 ROMs available - check them out, you don't loose anything. Just be sure to have baseband ending with "015", otherwise some features won't work.

First u need to root ur phone and have xrecovery install..xrecovery required in order flash other rom as well as backing up all ur data..search in x8 dir..u will find superoneclick (for root), and xrecovery installer and last is go to android development thread and choose which rom u want..there is 2.2,2.3.2, and 2.3.3 rom..name mini-cm,and many others by racht,jerpelea..search in our x8 dir..u will find everything trust me.
I'm currently using 2.2 MiniCM, and is working perfectly on my X8. Recommended.

It lags in games ten times more than 2.1,not recommend use 2.1 until custom kernels will be succefull loaded to our phones then there will be 2.3.3 with everything working even wi-fi tethering.

you have expert (as-mario) advise here so better stick to 2.1 until dev successfully have fully working kernel.

well my has 44,2 FPS in neocore,and that is damn alot.

Bootloader is the part of the phone that checks files when you try to update it, so it makes sure that the software you're installing is from sony...For now it has only been bypassed a bit through Xrecovery(that means we have custom ROM but no custom kernel....) . What we're waiting for is complete bootloader crack and we're very close...soon we'll have gingerbread and froyo with no problems + Dualtouch
How can u be sure that we ll get dualtouch?

sound good...,are its mean if we can passed bootloader,we can modif anything and change totally system on phone without constraints license system sony?.,but are it not to danger for phone?..,for sample..,if we modif totally system but if we have a brick and error..,can we repair its with seus?..i dont think so.,custom roms its danger but pass bootloader its more danger...

Are you sure want to wait official ROM from SE forever?
If SE don't update x8 to froyo or above, are you keep waiting?
I think using Costume ROM is better option for now. Better than Eclair from SE. you can install many app. Even there some bugs and problems, many developer there to fix this. So just wait to fix better than wait forever from SE.

The likelihood of getting stock GINGERBREAD IS MORE LIKELY THAN stock FROYO.

It's better for some things.
But it does have a completely unworking camera [neither pics or videos], disabled FM, SD safe to remove reboots, and some other bug.
I also have this custom rom installed, because I have a Sony Alpha A-55 to shot some pics and don't ever need the X8 one... but this doesn't let me say that stock eclair is worst than any other custom kernel.
AFAIK, there is not a 100% full working custom rom til now.
The one and only rom which is 100% working is SE stock rom..

i will not wait for se official update because it won't happen but my hope now is that the devs here bypass this damn bootloader and give us custom kernel and a 100% working custom roms i cross my fingers !! go go brilliant devs we are all with you guys !

You'll never get the official Froyo from Sony..
They won't build one for X8..
The only way to get one is from custom ROMS..
Try elelinux v3, it's the most stable froyo rom.. No bugs at all.. Even for the rooted apps..

Given the fact, that ARC and X8 did not share any hardware, I don't really think that it is an easy job, but I'm not a dev, so I can just wish luck to you for it!
What's your desired end result? Do you want an x8 with an arc like UI? There's a rom called arc x8 you might wanna try if that's the case. If you want a GB rom with SE resemblance try Gingercruzt and install the arc launcher. Both options give you an arc-ish looking phone. As for performance arc x8 is great for gaming and it's overclocked to 710 by default. Gingercruzt is not perfect but is very fast and smooth. Has the common GB rom bugs. For any other questions, probs, requests etc PM me. I'll help with what I can. I too at one point wanted arc stuffs on my phone lol. Good luck
basically i wanted to start porting roms so i started with arc cause i liked they way arc looked mediascape timescape and its fancy interface btw i have used those roms u mentioned they are good but want a complete arc rom

dont waste your time man.x8 has ARM6 CPU arc has ARM7.alot difference between too and you need drivers so hardware works
X8 and Arc are completely different phones and if you have no knowledge on developing... then forget it.

hey bro. listen my advice to you would be to go for a sense rom. many people are wanting a sense rom thats fully working at the moment. i have bassicly got 1 nearlly fully working just have to get the right kernel working on it. and sort out mass storage then its done. but if you need any help with resizing apps and help with lib and that then just send me a PM and ill mail right back good luck mate

Yeah a stable fully working ICS would be very good. Zdzihu is abroad and have not enough tools and time there so any dev helping would speed up the Development alot. I think 4.0 is very good and we all should help with our knowledge to get it working.

I know ICS is amazing
But I don't quite have the knowledge to cook drivers etc.
I can't even download the android source code at the stupid Internet speed I have ...
All can do is mod
If I knew driver coding I would surely help him
I could try modding ICS

I haven't change the stock ROM, since it was released (I used to flash froyo and eclair roms once a week, now Kernels only).
Simply in my opinion, stock SE rom is finer than any MIUI or AOSP roms
Why don't you develop a new more advanced kernel for 2.3.7 - 4.0.1. Many believe that the 2.6.29 Kernel is holding things back.

The only thing missing from x10 right now is sense... I know you've tried it and its hard but there are ppl out there who have had it working on x8 sgs2 and other devices, maybe get some advice and give it another shot?? The amount of testers will be huge if you get it working mate

well even custom roms hav reached a certain level of stability,froyo roms are gud wen its abt stability and daily use
hated wen i was on stock 2.1
i don`t no all of them have some stick some time i don` no what is the best and realy stalble for use if the rom not stable for use why i flash my phone for it we want some thing practical and fun
