I think there was an issue with the DZ radio not having a specific screenoff option which caused massive battery drain.
You should flash the .17 tmous radio to be on the safe side.

Looking to upgrade radio...

I have been having battery issues and am looking to upgrade the radio. I am currently running Fresh 2.0d with the 1.04.01.09.21 radio. Does anyone have any insight into what radio I should be upgrading to? Any suggestions/recommendations on the process of upgrading the radio so i don't brick my phone. I am looking at doing the 2.32.40.11.09 which is the one based on the Desire.
Flashing any radio does have high potential to brick your phone.
Make sure your battery is 100% before trying it.
Also you will need to try all of the radios just to find the one that works best for you in your area.
Does someone provide the original radio in case I cannot find one that works better?

Yeah, all of the radios for our phone are on
geekfor.me
Make sure what ever you load you either get it ONLY from that site or it says specifically "CDMA".
Yeah, I've read the fastest way to brick your phone permanently is to flash a GSM radio. Should upgrading the radio help reduce the amount of battery cell standby uses? I'm assuming its simply flashed like any other signed zip? Thanks for your help.

It's a little bit different that update zips.
It's more likely a software issue with the Cell Standby - but i did see a drastic increase in batter life when flashing the most recently posted radio (forgot the version#)

Anyway to run Cyanogen with the 6.35 radio?

Sorry if this a repost but I'm new the the Magic (I've got a Nexus One as my main phone) and I'm not having any luck searching for an answer.
I'm running CM 5.0.8 on my Rogers Magic and to get it working with Rogers I had to downgrade to the Dream radio (version 3.22.26.17) and I'm getting poor reception and battery life. I'd like to go back to the 6.35 radio, but I don't believe it works with CM. Is this just a kernel issue? Anyone know how to get them working together?
Bump, maybe some progress has been made on this? I am wondering the same thing. Is it possible at all or will it ever be?
I think you can .. not 100% sure ..

[Q] Radios.

which radios are safe to flash to my hd2. im currently running the 2.15 radio which is the one that i got when i updated the WM6.5, but i think i need to try different radios because of my location not getting edge and battery is kinda of on the low side. if i could get a list of the safe ones. and how to flash them. that would be great. thanks guys.
Here's the link to the radio thread that will give you all the information you need. Saw your other post, you will have to try different radios to determine which works best for your phone and area. Since you are located in the US, just focus on the radios with a .50 in them. DO NOT USE ANY of the .51 radios! They will brick your phone and make it inoperative. As a reference, I am using the latest 2.15.50.14 radio and Cmylxgo Desire HD(2) build in the Silicon Valley area without an issue.

Is radio flashing needed?

hello
my dhd is now rooted, Eng S-off and Radio S-OFF...
next thing should be flashing rom, but do i need to flash my radio as well? (going with revolution 3.0 rom if it matters?) - if radio flash is needed, how do i make sure i get the right radio for my dhd? there are 2 radios available to download on the revolution 3.0 rom thread
first time i am doing this so just want to make sure.
thank you
Getting DHD tomorrow.. I wanna know too!
Its not neccesasry but if a dev says a certain radio works better its worth flashing as it may help battery and speed of rom
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
As above, you don't have to but it's recommended for battery purposes etc.
If you have any problems with your ROM not performing properly, flash the radio is the first thing people will say to do!
You don't have to but sometimes trying different radios can improve signal and battery life.

[Q] MIUI, music, and a radio question

I'm currently running the virtuousAFFINITY rom and really loving it. Especially the radio. Call quality wise, I found it (the radio) better than cm7 or MIUI. Am I right to believe that each rom also flashes a different radio? My current radio is 26.03.02.26_M with Affinity.
IF that's the case, is it okay for me to flash the radio from AFFINITY over to MIUI.us 1.12.9 w/ DARKSIDE? I was in love with Affinity until I tried MIUI yesterday but a few things had me scratching my head. Like adding a + to all the numbers in my contacts or I couldn't send a text or make a call...I laughed when I figured that out.
The other question regarding MIUI, Lyapota's Music Box 2, I see it mostly included in Sense roms, does this mean it's not compatible with AOSP/CM7 framework based roms? Or can I flash it?
I just rooted my phone last week for the first time, after a few roms and some stumbles, I'm hoping to be able to get my phone perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, custom ROMs never contain radios. See the radio thread for instructions on flashing radios. There isn't any connection between how particular ROMs and radio versions interact.
Is there any reason why my call quality would be affected by the use of different roms?
