which radios are safe to flash to my hd2. im currently running the 2.15 radio which is the one that i got when i updated the WM6.5, but i think i need to try different radios because of my location not getting edge and battery is kinda of on the low side. if i could get a list of the safe ones. and how to flash them. that would be great. thanks guys.
Here's the link to the radio thread that will give you all the information you need. Saw your other post, you will have to try different radios to determine which works best for your phone and area. Since you are located in the US, just focus on the radios with a .50 in them. DO NOT USE ANY of the .51 radios! They will brick your phone and make it inoperative. As a reference, I am using the latest 2.15.50.14 radio and Cmylxgo Desire HD(2) build in the Silicon Valley area without an issue.

I have a stock Tmous HD2, never touched the rom or radio. I do want to try android but from reading some posts a stock rom/radio is not the way to go.
Can someone provide a link in this thread to a good radio to update too, that basically won't brick the phone, or even what version radio and I can find it. As for updating the stock rom, I'm pretty sure I need Miri but don't want to install that without knowing my radio is compatable.
As for the radio/rom installation, I can search the forums but any advice would be great also.

There is no best radio. It depends on carrier, rom and still varies from user to user. I opt for the most recent radio and have had success. Try a few and see what works for you. The same goes for roms. There is no best rom. Read the rom threads, look at screenshots and features and try some out.
All this information is easily found numerous times by SEARCHING.
Deckard, you may have the same prob I had,I thought mine was "stock"too, after doing some research it is a refurb,if so,download a stock radio and flash it,if you get sound when making calls that was the prob.
Hi all,
Having a problem getting Android to run on my Telstra HD2. I do the following:
+ Run CLRCAD; all good
+ Run HARET; all good until -- 5 or 6 lines of the linux screen appear and then it hangs, or the screen goes blank depending on the Android build that I try running.
I have an Australian HD2 with the following specs:
Model: T9193 (Telstra)
OS: 5.2.21869
R: 2.07.51.22_2
G: 15.32.50.07u
D: 1.72.82124
I am using the standard SanDisk 16Gb Micro-SD card. I have tried a number of Android builds from gamesquare.co.uk with no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this running on the stock Telstra ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Peace..
Probably need to upgrade your rom
and radio. Look at some signatures of people who say their build is working good.
I didn't really want to upgrade the ROM and radio since it'd void my warranty..
RE: Telstra woes
I notice you are running 2.07.51 radio. I reckon it's your radio to be honest. I run 2.12.50.02_2 on mine. I have had problems with radios other than x.xx.50.xx radios. There is a link somewhere in here to all the working radios (I think in the definitive guide. Don't worry about warranty issues, if you ever need to deal with that, just flash back to the factory rom (but I take no responsibility .
Cheers
Definitely need to change the radio. You need a .50 radio. That also means you need to put HSPL on the phone. However, be aware that Android is not very stable yet. I couldn't get WiFi working and had all sorts of problems getting it to talk with Outlook. Went back to stock Rom highly modified (CHT etc)
Hmmm indeed the radio could be the problem. I use the 2.07.50.22_2 radio (although my G and and D values are also different from yours) and I've had no problems.
This way if anything catastrophically goes wrong with your phone and you're unable to flash the old radio back hopefully they won't notice
EDIT: Forgot about HSPL, thanks iandg.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to bite the bullet... I've just installed HSPL; no problems.. Now to find a radio update..

really? you had that much problems with it dude? I'm still a noob here but I must say that I'm having a really good experience with it at the moment.
My config seems to be working pretty good. Try this....
ROM is NRGZ maxsense rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
Radio:
2.12.50.02_2
Android build is [BUILD][25.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b][Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70]:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545
I have actually been using this as my main OS for the last 2 builds and it is really usable now. I have it syncing direct to my outlook server at work no probs at all (IT have hijacked it with security policies, but this is understandable). Other than that I reckon the DEVs here are absolute geniuses with how well this stuff is running.
Hope this is of some help

e1design, I have the same phone in the States on AT&T. Feel free to use my links below in my sig to get what I'm using. It works just fine. I haven't been on WinMo in weeks.
Done
Firstly, thanks for the replies in this thread.
I have to say that I've read it many times before: "Try the search function" - well it works wonders. With the information posted in thtis thread I was able to piece it all together and I now have Android on my HD2!
There are still a couple of things to iron out [WiFi, battery life and such] but in all a very worthwhile exercise.
Thanks again to the thread responders, and if you're in the same place as I was a week ago wanting to get Android on your HD2 - search on the keywords in this thread and you'll find it's as easy as can be.
Androis on T9193
Am totally thrilled to learn Android can be installed on the T9193.
Where are the best locations to source ROMs?
Suggestions on which are better and why?
Steps to Android..
Look at my sig and go from there..
I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm wondering if any of you using a Telstra HD2 on AT&T (Cingular for me) here in the US have a stable Android install? I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I love Android but I can't get a configuration that will run longer than about 10 hours most of the time. I've gone through all the radios from 2.12.50.02_2, 2.14.50.02, and 2.15.50.14. I've switched my Windows Mobile ROM from Dutty CDLC v15 to OzDroid v1.11, I've switched my Android build from mattc froyo sense v1.8 to froyostone sense v3.2. I've gone through a couple different Linux kernels, currently on hastarin #8. No matter what I do I end up with about a 10 hour life before the device hangs. I have seen improving PPP performance with the different radios and kernels, but the overall device stability is the biggest problem. Could anyone using the Telstra HD2 for Android please post the configs that worked from them on their devices and include what kind of uptime you've achieved? I'm hoping this would really help me. Thanks in advance.
Ok For me I have the telstra HD2 and this is my Config.
Pretty much the latest of everything
- MAGLDR1.13
-Latest HSPL
-TyphoonN_CM7_v2.4.4.zip
- Radio 2.15.50.14
- Clockwork mode recovery v1.3
Just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Hope that helps.
Hi folks,
I'm currently with Telus and I will be re-rooting my phone but I don't want to lose the radio that came with the phone. Is there a way to extract the radio, maybe from a nandroid backup?
I find the radio that comes default with the phone does not suck as much battery power as the other international radios do.
Thanks.
I might be wrong, but unless you flash a new radio, it remains when you flash a new rom....
Nandroid backups unfortunately don't include the radio.
Some people find that installing 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 gives performance that is similar to the Telus radio (63.18.55.06DAU_6.35.08.20).
Hopefully there is a way to extract a radio since I'm interested in that as well.

I can confirmed, since I've rooted my phone, I've tried all the Radio's available and the one I have found to work best is 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 ! Although some people are using other Radio's and find that they work as good as 08.22 so It's pretty much up to you to test the radio's and find the one that you think works for you!
Cheers
Take a look in the
[ROM] Official HTC Hero RUU ROM + Radio Links thread. (sorry they don't let new users post links)
The 08.22 radio you want is there. Download and put onto your SD card. After flashing your rom reboot into revovery and flash the radio file just like you did the rom file.
as someone sort of guessed at here, radios are something you don't have to worry about.
a radio doesn't get backed up or restored in nandroid. but also, a radio doesn't get flashed when you flash a new rom onto your phone.
the radio software stays exactly the same unless you specifically flash a different radio onto your phone. and then it stays like that forever too until you flash yet another different one on there.
so stick with your default radio, assuming telus actually sets it up with a telus-friendly-radio out of hte box...
if you accidentally screw it up, flashing .08.22 radio will get you back pretty close to where you are now in terms of performance. However none of us probably has the original radio from our telus phones any longer because this didn't become common knowledge until relatively recently, so if you CAN I suggest not flashing any radios on your phone at all ever. that way you will retain the radio software taht came with your phone which, hopefully, is better than anything else for our crazy telus requirements.
so go ahead and flash roms, you'll have no troubles.
When I first got my hero, prior to rooting, my reception at home was terrible. I would routinely get 0 to 1 bars. So this would have been with the stock Telus radio. In fact, every phone I've had has had terrible reception in this location. After flashing 08.22 I am now getting from 2 to 5 bars at home. So although the 08.22 radio is supposed to be close to the stock radio, I'm finding it quite a bit better. Your mileage may vary.
Moved to general as not development
hello
my dhd is now rooted, Eng S-off and Radio S-OFF...
next thing should be flashing rom, but do i need to flash my radio as well? (going with revolution 3.0 rom if it matters?) - if radio flash is needed, how do i make sure i get the right radio for my dhd? there are 2 radios available to download on the revolution 3.0 rom thread
first time i am doing this so just want to make sure.
thank you
Getting DHD tomorrow.. I wanna know too!
Its not neccesasry but if a dev says a certain radio works better its worth flashing as it may help battery and speed of rom
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
As above, you don't have to but it's recommended for battery purposes etc.
If you have any problems with your ROM not performing properly, flash the radio is the first thing people will say to do!
You don't have to but sometimes trying different radios can improve signal and battery life.
I've been digging around to found out how to get WP7 on my hd2, and it seems simple enough. I've had a lot of different 6.5 and Android ROMs on my phone. The only issue is that all the ROMs I've found say I need a 2.15 radio. They also say that that ROM is for the international version of the HD2.
1. What radio should I use with my TMOUS HD2 (1024) for WP7? Just not sure. Just don't want to brick my phone. I currently have 2.10.50.26.
2. Is magldr okay for TMOUS? Any ideas?
3. Also, I know this is subjective, but what WP7 ROM seems to be the least buggy?
1.You won't brick your phone by flashing 2.15 radio, (as long as you have your phone properly unlocked) , but you only get 448mb of ram instead of 576, that's the spec for international version of HD2.
2. It supports magldr
3. I am not a huge fan of WP7, but I have tried flashing WP7 on my TmoHD2 once. Frankly speaking, I don't like the user interface, and I believe there are more apps on the android market. Furthermore, WP7 comes much later than android on this device, so it is quite difficult to find a less buggy one, but you can always have a try.
Good luck!
As Clare's said 2.15 is the best...
But.. [Radio ROM]HD2 Latest TMOUS Radio_5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U, by ansar
newer radio released, haven't used myself but i plan to...

What do you mean by "properly unlocked"? Currently I'm running an Elegancia ROM and using radio 2.10.50.26. I read an article that you just need a 2.xx.50.xx Radio. Has anybody tried the radio I'm using with WP7? On a side note is it true that I can call T-Mobile and get a code to unlock my phone to use it on other carriers? That easy?
TMOUS radio
Hi I have recently flashed my T-mobile HD2 with the Back to the Future [XBmod-Yuki] [7720 ready] [28/08] with Radio_5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U and now I'm constantly having "No Service" issues. I live in a rural area where the signal is weak, however my HD2 worked perfectly with the original radio TMOUS 15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08.
Yes, sometimes the signal was very-very weak, but my phone was always in "service area", I never got "No Service" issues. Can anyone please suggest the radio with the "best signal strength", so to say, which is compatible with T-mobile HD2 on WP7?
Thank you very much in advance.
Can anyone answer the question above? Thank you.
