Hi all,
Having a problem getting Android to run on my Telstra HD2. I do the following:
+ Run CLRCAD; all good
+ Run HARET; all good until -- 5 or 6 lines of the linux screen appear and then it hangs, or the screen goes blank depending on the Android build that I try running.
I have an Australian HD2 with the following specs:
Model: T9193 (Telstra)
OS: 5.2.21869
R: 2.07.51.22_2
G: 15.32.50.07u
D: 1.72.82124
I am using the standard SanDisk 16Gb Micro-SD card. I have tried a number of Android builds from gamesquare.co.uk with no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this running on the stock Telstra ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Peace..
Probably need to upgrade your rom
and radio. Look at some signatures of people who say their build is working good.
I didn't really want to upgrade the ROM and radio since it'd void my warranty..
RE: Telstra woes
I notice you are running 2.07.51 radio. I reckon it's your radio to be honest. I run 2.12.50.02_2 on mine. I have had problems with radios other than x.xx.50.xx radios. There is a link somewhere in here to all the working radios (I think in the definitive guide. Don't worry about warranty issues, if you ever need to deal with that, just flash back to the factory rom (but I take no responsibility .
Cheers
Definitely need to change the radio. You need a .50 radio. That also means you need to put HSPL on the phone. However, be aware that Android is not very stable yet. I couldn't get WiFi working and had all sorts of problems getting it to talk with Outlook. Went back to stock Rom highly modified (CHT etc)
Hmmm indeed the radio could be the problem. I use the 2.07.50.22_2 radio (although my G and and D values are also different from yours) and I've had no problems.
This way if anything catastrophically goes wrong with your phone and you're unable to flash the old radio back hopefully they won't notice
EDIT: Forgot about HSPL, thanks iandg.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to bite the bullet... I've just installed HSPL; no problems.. Now to find a radio update..

really? you had that much problems with it dude? I'm still a noob here but I must say that I'm having a really good experience with it at the moment.
My config seems to be working pretty good. Try this....
ROM is NRGZ maxsense rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
Radio:
2.12.50.02_2
Android build is [BUILD][25.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b][Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70]:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545
I have actually been using this as my main OS for the last 2 builds and it is really usable now. I have it syncing direct to my outlook server at work no probs at all (IT have hijacked it with security policies, but this is understandable). Other than that I reckon the DEVs here are absolute geniuses with how well this stuff is running.
Hope this is of some help

e1design, I have the same phone in the States on AT&T. Feel free to use my links below in my sig to get what I'm using. It works just fine. I haven't been on WinMo in weeks.
Done
Firstly, thanks for the replies in this thread.
I have to say that I've read it many times before: "Try the search function" - well it works wonders. With the information posted in thtis thread I was able to piece it all together and I now have Android on my HD2!
There are still a couple of things to iron out [WiFi, battery life and such] but in all a very worthwhile exercise.
Thanks again to the thread responders, and if you're in the same place as I was a week ago wanting to get Android on your HD2 - search on the keywords in this thread and you'll find it's as easy as can be.
Androis on T9193
Am totally thrilled to learn Android can be installed on the T9193.
Where are the best locations to source ROMs?
Suggestions on which are better and why?
Steps to Android..
Look at my sig and go from there..
I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm wondering if any of you using a Telstra HD2 on AT&T (Cingular for me) here in the US have a stable Android install? I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I love Android but I can't get a configuration that will run longer than about 10 hours most of the time. I've gone through all the radios from 2.12.50.02_2, 2.14.50.02, and 2.15.50.14. I've switched my Windows Mobile ROM from Dutty CDLC v15 to OzDroid v1.11, I've switched my Android build from mattc froyo sense v1.8 to froyostone sense v3.2. I've gone through a couple different Linux kernels, currently on hastarin #8. No matter what I do I end up with about a 10 hour life before the device hangs. I have seen improving PPP performance with the different radios and kernels, but the overall device stability is the biggest problem. Could anyone using the Telstra HD2 for Android please post the configs that worked from them on their devices and include what kind of uptime you've achieved? I'm hoping this would really help me. Thanks in advance.
Ok For me I have the telstra HD2 and this is my Config.
Pretty much the latest of everything
- MAGLDR1.13
-Latest HSPL
-TyphoonN_CM7_v2.4.4.zip
- Radio 2.15.50.14

Just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Hope that helps.

hey,
i am just interested what combination of rom, hspl, radio-rom and android version everyone of you is using. I am reading that some persons have no problems, other have big problem and they are using the same android version. So if you want to give everyone some information, just write down something like:
ROM – HSPL – Radio_ROM – Android_version – what is not working
If you don’t like the thread, you simple should not answer. But I think that people who have problems are interested, what combinations the persons have who are using android without problems.
My combinations:
Chuckydroidrom 5.8.10 – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – Mattc1.4
everything works fine, but the market for example is still laggy (and I have the problems everyone has who is using mattc1.4)
sorry for my bad English, I am german and my last lesson is years ago
Artemis V25 FRA – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – MattcFroyorc1.4
All features works as designed but huge latency sometime with the interface : phone blocked for 3 or 5 sec then I got control back.
When enabling audio speaking when calling sometime the call failed or the audio speaker is not working : I've to recall my contact.
thanks a lot for your work. I had a G1 before HD2 and I'm glad to experiment again the Droid adventure. This I couldn't not do without all the "Droid members" and "Linus Torvald".
Keep on going
Kind regards
After many tweaks and tries... I am 100% happy. NO ISSUES except camcorder of course.
It is rock solid, fast, and most of the time I forget this is not a "true" android loaded device.

That's about it. Other than the system2.ext replacement for the GPS, there is nothing else.
Calls are loud and clear, no robot talk, data pulls from 3G and HSPSA and switches seemlessly between my WiFi spots I hit throughout the day.
Also, if it matters... in WinMo is have all switches on under Comm Manager. Data, Phone, 3G, WiFi. And Data Roaming is on in Android.
Loving it.

I too suffered SOD on several different Android builds, ROMS, and Zimages.
I finally have a set-up where I'm not getting SOD anymore
Also, no robot voice (never had it), no 3G problems, and GPS works...though it takes a while to lock on my location (I know how to fix it, just haven't gotten around to it).
These settings are for TMOUS:
WM ROM: Chucky Rom
Radio Build: 2.12.50.02.2.
Android Build: darkstone

Zimage: 08/02
I've been using Android consistently for 2.5 days. Battery life still sucks, but its reasonably fast, and very stable.

To expand on this a bit, I'm using a class 2 SD card. I have a class 10 in my Digital SLR, but would much rather keep that there.

You bet.. just tried the FROYO Stone build. I am coming back to this one with a few tweaks.
.
Let me know how it works for you.

Dear All,
i face the following issues.
1) if i use froyo stone clean build (Release date: 07.AUG.2010 GMT)
after i following all the instructions, i hang on the line "jumping to kernel"
>> a search on the forum, ask me to change ram addresses and cmd="ips****", but it doesnt help.
2) if i use the latest Parad0XUA_Experimental, it hangs on "init panel" then the screen fades to black.
I would be glad if someone could help me on this
Thank you
whizz
Sorry i cant help, but i have the exact same jumping to kernal problem and thats with any version of android ive tried. Ive got a box full of HD2's and no version of android will work on any of them. Do you need custom ROMS to run them?
Really hope someone can answer this, we cant be the only people to have this issue.
You certainly need to change the Radio to a .50, and it would appear that a custom ROM helps too.

Thanks man! Installed HSPL3 and a different radio. Got it to boot now!

I have tried all radio version (2.08 ~ 2.12) none of them work for all fullram version ...
Changing the ROM did it for me. I was using a .51 ROM...replaced it with 2.15.50 ROM..Now, its fine and I must say Darkstone ROM is quite stable and performance is good too..I am using it on a 2GB card..( my 8GB went bad..Waiting for a replacement.. ) and it still gives me amazing speed.
I have resolved the problem using only the latest version of official rom by HTC without HSPL or anything else
First let me take the time and express my thanks for the developers/brilliant minds who made android on the HTC HD2 possible thanks so much ...
Now onto my issues well ive installed mattc 1.8 with radio 2.14.50 and i formatted my SD card before hand and followed the guide to a teeth.. But no matter which version ive loaded so far or radio i have tryed thus far i keep having the issue with phone calls incoming and outgoing.
with my last install "mattc 1.8" i was able to make one call but had the robot voice then i get a error stating somethng phone related wont work honestly the rest of the OS performs great so if i could resolve teh calling issue id be set any help would be appreciated here is some more information i have attempted..
radios ive tryed:
2.12.50
2.8.50
installs:
froyo 2.2
shubcraft v1.5
Hyperdroid 1.6
thanks in advance and sorry this had to be my first post
I suggest you do a task29 to your device, flash a new radio, flash an android-friendly rom (chuckydroid for example) then format your sd once again and go with the most recent build available.
I believe your problem may lie with the rom. It is the one part of this equation that you did not mention in your post.

I used the radio 2.12 for a while. Suddenly i got problems. Tried another Winmo Rom and Android builds. Nothing helped. Then i changes to radio 2.10 and suddenly everything was working. So you can try switch to radio 2.10
Hi, I just got a HTC HD2 TMOUS, I am from Mexico so I really don't care about T Mobile configs. I am pretty new on this, I have been reading for the past days, right now I already tried two diff android builds via SD but I am getting SoD.. so I read I should flash a new radio.
Since I am pretty new and I am not ready to flash a nand Android, can you suggest me what should I do about it?
What do I have to flash? Any links to their posts?
I already read the noob guide to flash WM Custom ROM/Radio on my phone but I am not feeling confident about what suits best for my phone.
Right now I have:
1024Leo
Manila: 2.5.20121412.2
Rom: 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
Radio: 2.10.50.26
Thanks I really appreciate it
anyone please ?
The only thing I can suggest is that you get a very recent Android SD build. A lot of the earlier ones had freezing and "screen of death" issues, but the later ones didn't exhibit the same problems (as much).
You really need to play around and try a few different builds, but make sure to read at least the 1st post in the thread where you get the build from, as it will tell you of all known issues and possibly link you to solutions.
Also, your radio is fine - there's no need to update it. The newer ones (particularly 2.15.50) report better battery life, but other than that you're okay with what you've got.
Thanks for the info... I will keep trying then... do you think it's worth to change to a nand build? I am not sure if they are stable right now... Thanks again

I find NAND builds better than SD in every way possible. It's more stable and the battery life is a LOT better!
But I am not really sure what do I have to do, I have been reading and what I understand now is that I have to install HSPL3 and then install an android nand build? I am not really sure
Hi Everyone.
This is my first post but i have been an enthusiastic reader for some time.
I know the answers to my problems are out there but im finding there is so much information im drowning and totally lost on what i need to do.
I want to put Android on my Telstra HTC HD2 T9193 via SD.
The SPl is 1.66
ROM = 1.72.841.0 WWE
RADIO = 2.07.51.22_2
Some sources say i need to go back a version before i can HSPL1, Some say i need to upgrade my radio, some say my telstra version is painful to change.
I believe the steps i need to take are:
1.Upgrade to the newest HTC Stock. But i cannot find a ROM to suit the Telstra phone.
2. So i need to use the HSPL method to change my radio?
3. Install HSPL4
4. Install the custom ROM
5. change the radio but i am unsure which one i get?
I think i have it mostly muddled up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Sej
assuming you want nand android
hspl4
choose 2.08.hspl
flash any radio with a x.xx.50.. version, higher than 2.07.50
flash magldr
flash cwm
flash android
Hi thanks.
I actually wanted to use the SD Roms.
Thanks

Flash HSPL4
Flash radio above 2.08.50 (I'd go 2.15.50)
Run your SD Android ROM.
in addition to what orangekid has posted, in case you're after the custom rom:
Flash HSPL4
Flash radio above 2.08.50 (I'd go 2.15.50)
Flash custom rom
->in my case, i'm using chuckyrom lite for my wm6.5. i noticed that flashing the radio to 2.15, keeping the t-mob stock rom and running an android sd rom caused a lot of lags. not to mention the famous sod (sleep of death).
Run your SD Android ROM.
-> i've been using mccm hd 4.5 and it's simply working great for me. do take note that there are tons of roms you can try. what you can do is try out each of them and determine which one works well for your unit. what may be working flawlessly for me or the other members could turn out to be a lemon for you. thus, try them out and you should be able to find the right rom for your device

This is sound advice Personally I prefer NRG for WinMo and ACA for Android
Hope you've made some progress here... I've been watching this space for more than a year and finally decided it was safe enough to make a move.
My HD2 has the standard ROM, I flashed several radios with varying degrees of success in terms of sensitivity, power consumption, telstra compatability. Settled on 2.15.50.14 for now. Testing continues.
Installed JaguarMIUI-V16.7 on a new class 6 4Gb MicroSD.
I have no luck formatting SDs (x2) for my HD2 (have to reseat sd after bootup to get the card recognised) and this one is screaming and stable without being formatted, just copy on the files into Android and Miui folders in the root of the card.
I have a boot loader installed but don't use it as the build is so stable it's not a problem to open file explorer in Windows, tap clrcad.exe then haret.exe the few time a reboot is required/desired.
Enjoy!
Hi Saj,
I had the same problem..
I found that you had to go backwards to go forward as Telstra Locked the ROM.
Basically i had to comb the web and find an older version of the Telstra ROM...
from there I had to use MAGLDR 1.13 to load the boot file
it did however wipe the WM6.5 completely off the phone.
I am now using a Port for ICS and i have never been happier
I will see if I can find the original post for this on the web and let you know
