It will be good to mark that pixels.

That's an HD game, maybe that's why your screen gets pixelated...

Are you using the Stock ROM or a custom one? If you are using a CM6 or CM7 based ROM, go in the cyanogenmod settings -> Performance settings and enable surface dithering. After a reboot, the quality of the display should increase.

could u post a screen shot taken from the same game and same place so i can make sure if this normal or not ?!

I'm also suffering of this when i installed Gingerfroyo rom on my x8. Could be a rendering mode for this rom, or something like that. It's kind of annoying, but i noticed it only does when rendering 3D graphics (live wallpapers, games). Anyone know how to get rid of this?

yes, it is.
i was switching 3 roms (stock, flyoy & minicm) because of same problem in fruitninja just to find out that game dithered background on all of them...

...I see it too on my HD dolphin browser
But my phone never show the .jpg files write. Colors are mess up and the quality sims horible.

Same here, i never noticed this in stock 2.1 SE ROM, i think ill try again in 2.1
In that Screenshot I am using FroyoBread v012, is this a problem to all custom ROM? it is visible even in Gallery.
i Hope theres a Fix for this

Poor image quality

I just got android on, MDJ's 2.6 and I see some color depth problem. on the live wallpapers I see it and on the weather widget. I also see it in some of the menus. I'm just wondering if this poor color depth is normal? this is what I'm talking about:
mine looks like the middle example, maybe a little worse.

I tried a different rom, same thing. I'm using the same live wallpaper on the new rom, and I don't see the problem, however I see it in the other same areas as I did with the old rom.

I used WP7 for some time and people say that it should enable 24-bit depth, and i can't confirm this because its not so important for me but wp7 clolours look "healthier" than in android. It could be android's fault. :/

so maybe if I put WP7 on and then go back to android perhaps it will be fixed?
Try Launcher Pro. Whenever I've seen someone on here complain about colour banding issues (especially with widgets!) I've recommend they try it and they've all agreed it's resolved with that 1 change.
I'd recommend Launcher Pro for many, many other reasons anyway, but it does fix this particular issue
I installed launcher pro, not sure where to go from here. I Google android color banding and found many complaints. I notice the banding on certain website logos while browsing and I even see it on the keyboard right now.
Are you saying that Launcher Pro didn't solve the problem with wallpapers and widgets? Obviously it can't affect any other app that runs but it should have made a difference to the home screen.

I dont think it did, I hit the home button, selected launcher pro, then I added a the weather widget to my home screen, I still see the banding on it. When I select the widget and move it around, the banding is gone, but as soon as I let go and drop it, I see banding.
You dont have banding? goto neowin.net with the android browser, look at the top left at the neowin logo, tell me if you see banding.
EDIT: I used the stock launcher and moved the weather widget around, even while moving it, it still had the banding, so launcher pro is effecting something.

I can make it just in the middle, but it would be deformed or something of the blue wave gets lost. Its because i found only horizontal screenshots of the livewallpaper.

Display readable in sunlight

Hi, when I'm outside the display is not readable in sunlight, even if I check the ultrabrightness. Is that a common problem or there's a way to get it readable? There are different options in Cyanogen, maybe there's something I can do? :fingers-crossed:
Please provide complete details of which ROM you are using, and reporting it to its specified ROM thread will answer your query faster

I think you can use custom modded roms as they provide very high brightness.
Roms like Ixperia, HTX MIUI..etc have very high brightness option.

I'm not sure that x8 screen has bad luminance. If you use gingerdx v22,there is autobrightness work very good and on sun display became very light and you can normally see on it!
Or use stock rom and set to full brightness, because on cm roms full brightness isn't same as on stock!

Yellow tint issue on S4's screen

Mine doesn't look like that, sorry. But I have lag. ):
Is it just in Chrome?
Try Chrome Settings ---> Developer Tools ---> Uncheck 'Enable Tilt Scrolling'
@raqball nope this is found everywhere, even instagram and facebook.
Ah, no clue then sorry..
@raqball can you do a quick check with yours, similar to the one I did and let me know what you get ?
Go to settings display screenmode and use something else other than adapt display. Im currently using dynamic and my tint is gone.
ATT S4 Rooted. Beastin.
4.2.2
I had it on standard all this time (including screenshot) .. Putting it on dynamic gives the same result :
Damn I was hoping it was that because it fixed it for me. Maybe a hardware issue?

@stevehkim I'm not sure tbh .. thanks for the suggestion though. It's quite annoying after I realised that it exists ... Didn't bother me before I noticed it :\
I found an app called Screen Adjuster but its not really efficient.
I had this with my S3 and got used to it. I was told in those forums that this is just how these AMOLED screens are made.
My display is perfectly white though... Side by side comparisons between the Note II, Microsoft Surface RT (perfect white display), and a Sony HDTV. My S4 beats or meets them all.

Acer 24" LCD Monitor vs S4
I'll do one of my Surface or TV later.
I made a Pure White image to use for testing on the S4, use it instead of Chrome which uses a grey color in it's UI and for some reason the S4 screen brightness dims on Chrome automatically (and you can't change it). Download it if you want to do comparisons again.

Screen sharpening? Maybe it's just...

The freaking font. No seriously. The default LG font is way too thin and when displayed on a white surface is very uncomfortable to read.
I just installed Roboto font using iFont and I can no longer find any (noticeable) sharpening done on the phone.
This is not placebo. Try it yourself and be amazed! Maybe there's still a sharpening issue, somewhere. But switching the font has mostly cured it for me. Yay.

Tried it, it's still there. It won't show up on screenshots by the way, and it's most noticeable with black text on a grey background.

You're right. Still there. But bolder fonts make the sharpening effect a lot less annoying. I can finally use Press without poking my eyes out.
I can't wait for a fix to come out for this! As a photographer, I see a lot of beginner photographers over sharpening their pictures, giving the same effect. Now MY WHOLE PHONE DOES THIS CONSTANTLY. Just kills me.

It depends on the screen to be honest sometimes I'm shielding my eyes other times like this post can't see it. I am wondering if there is some algorithm running and it adapts constantly.

Yeah it's definitely more noticeable when there's a grey background. Load this page up on your phone.
Also, once I got the effect to pop-in (not sure how, if I come across it again I'll definitely try to reproduce it) so it's gotta be some kind of processing unrelated to the display firmware.
Changing the font to Roboto Condensed using iFont completely solved the text sharpening issue. Even when the test of the screen has halo artifacts, the font looks fine.
As for icons and other issues with oversharpening, they too come and go for me. Sometimes the screen looks amazing, other times everything is super sharpened. I wonder if it has to do with throttling?
It's not everywhere. It'll show up in apps that have bad QHD support. I didn't have any of it in the vast majority of apps I was using, but then I ran into older apps and it suddenly appeared.
