Id like to give credit where credit is do. Thankyou Monopolykill3r for this sweet ass leak.We as testers deserve to test these roms. Just like other noobs who brick there phones trying to install a modem lol .Now thats funny.Its not the modem its Odin, That program sucks. and you knew all about it before you tried loading **** with it on your phone.Now we as testers deserve the new dk17 rom also ,We went this far lets keep on going with these new fixes. Intill then we must give credit to monopolykill3r in our beta roms that use the dk05 update.

I agree. Xda is not a place for newbies. Xda is for learning and testing. Xda is not a public release place for every user. From what I understand these phones cannot be bricked. Bricked means the phone is a brick, a paper weight and can never be used again.
Odin reflash and you are good to go. The term brick has got to go.

XDA is about a Developers community and monopoly proved exactly that, its not to prevent others from messing up their phones. Its about people sharing their experiences using something and working with each other to fix it. Keeping these files hidden hinders the movement and progress of improving something significantly, and slows development to an absolute crawl. By releasing these to us as a whole, we can help find the issues much quicker.

First of all, I am glad he leaked the rom unless it gets someone into trouble. If that person does get into trouble, there goes a leak source. Let me just say though, no one DESERVES anything. Be thankful that it was released, but slow down pronouncing all of these things you deserve.

Slow down .Dude your funny too. Dk17 is out there and we should be testing that..All the feedback they recieve while we test these will help them make a better rom for everyone the more bugs reported the better.

To be honest I think donating has ruined xda. Back when I had the hero the best dev was the one that refused donations. He just worked for the joy of having a great rom.

I agree to a point, but its only bad if you're asking for donations to get your work.
As far as I'm concerned, I do/did the kernel work for fun and to make my phone better. I had people ask me how to donate, so I put up a link. It's one thing to have an option for people that are feeling generous, I think that's harmless, but I think it's wrong to ASK for donations for open source work.

I agree with all of the above posts, as we deserve to test new ROMS out being developed. If we want to take the chance on messing up our phones, well, that's up to the Epic owners. SHAME on the DEV'S who hold back progress on our Epic's, who are they to decide on what, and when the leake are released to "XDA members". Personally, I dont know if Noobnl is a liar, and I really dont care, as he is a GREAT DEV and has brought to us a lot of awesume work. I hope whom ever leaked this DK05 doesnt get into any trouble, as I think he is just looking out for the rest of us. Not that he's the only DEV who looks out for us. If a friend comes to you and says:
"Here is a new piece of software that I am developing for Microsoft. I will allow you to use it because its so awesome and new, but don't leak it to anyone or I will lose my job."
You are saying that you would leak it?
That is the main issue other than stability that the Devs bring up. This leak has some Koreans name all over it. He could lose his job. That is a pretty ****ty thing to happen to someone who has done something pretty cool for us.
It's something to think about.

Bring on dk17 ,Leak it.. The dude lost his job already when you posted dj29 ,you must have gotten it from another rep from samsung. No no one is losing job from it.They said we need testers!!! ok i give it to 2 people that can really test.What a joke you believe that ..I believe that CM6.1 was a part in all of this Period.And i dont like his roms. no 4g thats a down grade..

Geniusdog says its the same Korean name on both leaks. I have absolutely zero reason not to trust him as he seems like one of the most reasonable people I have dealt with on XDA.

You keep saying "we as testers deserve this" but what have you done to deserve anything? All you've done is accuse noob (one of the few devs the Epic community has) of trying to monopolize Epic development, which is not only slander, but it just plain doesn't make sense, a Sprint employee took a big risk by even leaking it to noob and a few other devs and noob was just trying to not only protect this employees job by not widely releasing the leak but to protect the community from an unstable Rom. Frankly I don't know where your sense of entitlement is coming from, and really hope you grow up a little and stop thinking you can have anything you want, a lesson even my 5 year old has learned.
In fact if anything this thread should be titled "Thank you monopolykiller for making the Epic community look like a bunch of brats"

I would understand the anxiousness if Froyo was a year away, but its seriously right around the corner. I know people have been saying its right around the corner for a while now, but for reals its nearing release. Who wants to run a beta rom? I think a majority of people just want to know what fixes Froyo makes, and then they return to an Eclair rom after a small amount of testing. If the Devs weren't so secretive and just informed us of what Samsung is actually fixing, I think a lot of people would just be getting excited for the official release and wouldn't be so anxious to get their hands on something buggy.

Xda is a testing ground for phones. As long as there efficent enough of a warning, I don't see a proble in reeasing a beta version of a major update.
But on the other hand; the source took a big risk helping us..

Listen muyoso .You must have this update already.I dont think holding back a leaked update will hurt if not make it better for the official build .Were talking about big bugs 2 very small bugs that a handfull of people wont find in a week

I am sticking with Eclair until Froyo drops officially. My phone has never tasted Froyo. No matter WHAT happens, devs are not going to waste their time fixing some beta release when the official release most likely already has the fix and is within a couple weeks of release. These people have lives too. If you read some of my other posts, I am not defending their actions with regards to holding back the rom. My stance is that they should either keep it absolutely secret they have the leak and use it for their own purposes or make it public that they have it and inform people of their intentions.
If there are any devs out there that disagree with me and think that spending countless hours hunting down and fixing problems in a beta rom which has probably already been fixed by Samsung in the final build which is set to release within 6 weeks at the LATEST, then please inform me and I will apologize.

and themes And who likes to be lied to. We all been lied to by the developers on here.Today we want what they have since they are not informing us with a progress report.. +1 wait for our devs to bring us great things for froyo. If what your looking for is not there in the next weeks or months, then ask.. There is a great possibility that they already know what froyo needs.. I'm sure voodoo and a proper cwm will be first on their list... Then cleaning, fixing, and getting rid of the verizon spy..
Just give them some coffee money to keep them on the fascinate band wagon..and hope it keeps them from jumping on the new dual core phones coming out soon

Agree completely. I saw requests yesterday evening on the forums, which is absurd. You can't expect the devs to get a froyo leak working AND release a complete library of froyo themes and ROMs on the same day. I'm sure within the next few weeks there will be MORE than enough ROMs and themes to go around.

If anything they deserve a thank you thread for what they do! Not request

Just because someone requests something does not mean they expect it, much less immediately. Perhaps there have been some rude people who did give off such an attitude, but it's hardly fair to lump the properly appreciative and understanding folks in with them.

+1 I've been watchin these forums for a little over a month just waitin for froyo... Im thrilled ****less in 3 days from the official 2.2 leak and we're going to have what 4 diff ROMS... I dont think devs mind bug reports the first while, then maybe some suggestions. If your going to request I'd suggest attatch that to a donation towards there time and hard work...

Actually it does matter. Attitudes like this and "angry mob" threads will just scare people off or prevent them from posting for fear of being pounced on. Not the best way to foster a community. And I can't speak for XDA as I rarely post here, but PLENTY of people on another board I frequent have not been shy with their praise of devs and contributors. Just because there aren't specific threads for it doesn't mean no one gets thanked
But anyway just my two cents. You may all resume burning effigies.

on a lighter note, nitsuj is a beast at theming, cranking out a couple themes mere hours after the leak went up.

That's entirely possible, and if I've offended anyone then I do apologize, I just don't see the harm in people (politely) requesting ports of this or that theme. It gives the devs/modders a good idea of what's popular and therefore what to focus on if they feel so inclined.

If the offense scares noobs from posting where's my froyo? I'm willing to do it.
I'm tired of the honeycomb and gingerbread threads...
If it scares them to simply searching and reading threads, than I'm willing to take the hit as an offensive member... It's rediculous how many noobs think they are obligated. If someone needs help, they can follow the proper channels rather than posting on development forum where everyone is eagerly waiting for the latest and greatest...

i dont see a problem with request.. we all love what we have.. but i believe request are an idea.. now ya gingerbread and honeycomb, thats pretty absurd but i believe ppl are giving ideas asking questions.. thats what forums are about right?? we all appreciate what the devs do.. they doo everything.. make all of our hacking dreams come true and its awesome!! and im def down for thank you threads.. they deserve more than that.. any devs in ohio, ide gladly buy u a beer.. but forums are for discussions. ppl should be able to say what they want without being criticized, unless there ridiculous(gingerbread honeycomb)

This I agree with, I see no harm in people requesting themes, like someone else said it is good to know what is popular, it's not like most are trying to demand it or expect it to happen immediately.
People asking about Gingerbread and Honeycomb is a little crazy, while I think they should search but it really doesn't bother me all that much. Worse case scenario answer them or don't.

I guess when your phone just runs amazing it is getting hard to make it better. I keep trolling XDA for something worth reading or trying but nodda.

When I say no ROM worth trying I guess I need to be more specific. I currently run Bionix-V and right now don't see any ROM that is a huge improvement worth switching from.. But to clarify there are several very good ROM's out for our Vibrants..

Secondly I "hear" they are working on gingerbread as there is a proof of concept in the development forum.

As for your questions, we still have Sense to look forward to (Barak, if you some how see this, good luck with your family situation,) new ROMs from TW/Eugene, etc. Possibilities are truly endless.

Are you smoking crack? I have donated and appreciate everything the Dev's have done and are doing to make our phones experience better.
But since the last few solid ROMS have come out for 2.2 there really has been little new development that actually improves your phones performance.

I'm confused by this post. Actually I'm very shocked by this post.
Did you even look at the Dev forum? There are a ton of ROMS and the ROMS available are continuously being updated , some even are getting 2 or more updates per week!

I can answer my own question:
1. You are just trolling OR
2. You need to learn how to use your reading comprehension skills and read more
Because there is plenty of action going on for development for the Vibrant. Give it some time man. The source code that is in the Dev section is a leaked one that Eugene got his hands on. Samsung hasn't even officially released it yet. Once they do there will be a swarm of updates to these ROMS we have already AND there will be new ones.
IDK, sorry for my rant. I usually don't even reply to these kind of seemingly troll posts but you probably should just take the other guys suggestion and just leave the forums. Because you just slapped the great Devs that help us all make our Vibrants one of the most customizable phones around.
Don't bash any devs with a statement like yours, and then at the end of your post thank the devs. That brief "thanks" to the devs doesn't take away the SLAP in the face you just gave them
PS. Just for your info and a reply to your last statement about performance enhancements to the Vibrants... My phone KILLS my girlfriends stock Nexus S in performance and looks in every way possible. I can't even bog my phone down and I'm not even overclocked. I'm running a "stock" Bionix V 1.2

At one point there was only TW, Eugene, and Master posting up Roms; NOW we have about 6-7 options. The theming section is plastered with new options. 2.2 just got released and it opened up more doors.

No, you are not attacking anyone directly but you were also not "striking up interesting conversation". "forum is dead" and "no roms worth trying" is a matter of opinion which you are entitled to but not exactly a kind way of asking what's in the Vibrant developments future.

Unfortunately your post comes across kind of negative towards the community of Devs that work very hard to keep giving us new stuff for our phones.
So maybe you had very good intentions and the words just came out looking bad in your post.
I mean it is very hard to express intent thru words on a page. With actual conversation in person your words come across better. So maybe you can edit your original post if you didn't mean it to be a slap in the face to the community of devs here?

Is the Vibrant General not the place to just have open discussions? Why all the neg responses? I'm a die hard fan of this forum and our vibrant community. I was just trying to strike some conversation.
I agree we have themes out the butt.. Great I have themed my phone to death..

Your wording is not very good, I'm sorry to say. When you say "there are no ROMs worth trying" it sounds like you're saying "there are a bunch of ROMs but they're all shyte." If that is not your intent, I hope you change you original post, because that's exactly what it sounds like.

This thread seems kind of silly since we've just started seeing kernels built from 2.2 source. It's kinda been the Holy Grail for many of us since the Froyo leaks began. Don't know about you, but I'm totally excited about Voodoo sound, overclocking, bln, ulf, etc., and all that with good battery life.
So really, if you think there's nothing exciting now, what exactly do you consider worthwhile?

there have been other threads just like this though. You could've taken the time to search. I think there was one in the Q&A section about the whereabouts of Team Whiskey. And if you dont find your answers here, you can always check on Team Whiskey's Forums. So far they haven't dropped a new ROM or anything, just working on FFC from what i read on their forum and last time they posted here they mentioned they were working on 2.3 for the vibrant. Considering the fact that the only 2.3 leaks available out now are for the i9000, i dont see a stable 2.3 ROM for the vibrant being released from them anytime soon. It's going to take a while seeing from the current 2.3 roms we have so far. Honestly i'm not expecting anything stable until we get an official 2.3 for the vibrant.

well i think samsung wont drop a 2.3 rom this days as i know them...remember before..they dropped 2.2 because people noticed that they wouldnt drop it before vibrant 4g came out..they suck when talking about updates

Krylon has a 99% gingerbread rom working. It's built from scratch, so it's not a port.

As i heard, he just got married and is now on a vacation for a bit.
The man can take much time off as he needs. He just got married for gods sake.

Som answered in the Q&A a long time ago. He said that they are working on it and that was a very long time ago, so TW might releaae a stable version of 2.3 we just need to be patient.

You guys do know CM7 plus it's voodoo kernel isn't just stable but faster than anything else out there only real thing broken is gps, (at least more so than usual )

Stop man, you're just adding to the unneeded drama around here. I usually love your posts but we've really got to stop drawing lines in the sand over such petty things. Both teams are great, and manage things differently (and even that's not gonna be so different anymore). Im a Bionix user, and I've been wanting to try some EDT roms, Im just not as flash happy as I used to be. So if it works the way I feel it should, I don't see any reason to keep flashing. I used to though, so I understand the people that do. But we've really got to stop bashing one team or the other.

Also CM simply is not an option at its current state for people like me, who use GPS daily. I used CM exclusively on my G1, so I know how great it is, but I didn't crack open my phone for the hardware fix for nothing.

well said, infact ironically,som just posted on the team whiskey facebook page that he is indeed working on an update to bionix and something new,and that he also said he won't be posting it on xda.I can't elaborate on his decision,but I do support it,xda has become a safehaven for trolls and flamers.

I've just seen this post. I'd like to ask you all to please report a post as soon as you think it's trolling, flaming, or offensive.
We cannot read every thread and do rely on members helping us to keep the forum clean and free from the people who have nothing useful to contribute.
If you can help us, I'm sure we can get things back on track.

What are you complaining for?

Ive had my Vibrant since its release on July 15th, this is my second device because a few hours out of the box it just bootlooped.
I love it, and i love the dev community thats here for it, but im tired of hearing people complain about stock updates that their not gonna use. "samsung doesnt update their devices", "This is my last samsung phone"...Are you serious? Why complain when you've had an awesome dev community since the start. People know their not going to run stock but the complain anyway. Imo, I think people are just jumping on the Samsung Hate bandwagon. This is an awesome phone and community, And our Vibrants still murder more than half the Android Comp on stock 2.1, you guys saw the youtube reviews right?.
Why dont we give more praise instead of more ungreatfullness because this just sickens me.

Agreed. This is my first android phone and will be keeping it for a long time. Devs have been awesome, but you will always have people who ***** and complain. It's just the nature of the beast.

Well said. This is a beast of a phone when run on custom roms, and our amazing devs are doing some great stuff to double the performance. Kudos to them. But some people simply live to whine and ***** around in their daily life let alone an internet forum.
Love this Vibrant and this great community behind it.

One of the reasons i think sammy doesnt update is because they dont stand a chance vs our dev field so why bother you kno?

I love my Vibrant also. My phone does EVERYTHING that I could want a pocket sized computer to do; and it does it fast and it does it on a beautiful screen. The folks who have taken the time and energy to mod this rad device are plain and simply: awesome. Thanks to everyone at <TW> and EDT (my favs) for tweaking my phone in ways that I never could. Thanks to all who have worked on this device and produced a dozen + other ROMS. And thank you to the new Devs who are willing to continue tinkering with their own, hard earned, phones for the benefit of us all.

Yeah and you 2 are probably some of the whiners he is talking about. If you don't have anything positive to contribute to his post then don't comment. He made a very valid statement. I haven't been a member for long, but I have seen many threads that were either titled something about never buying samsung again or whining about not getting stock updates. So unless you have something constructive to contribute to this thread then don't come in and bash him for just trying to point out that the phone is awesome and that people are worried about stock updates when they don't even use them

Disagree. This post has to reasons. To get people to see how great their phone is and to get them to be grateful for all the hardwork here in xda.

Agreed, the phone is great and still can be considered in top 5 phones out there. However I will like stock gingerbread for the sake of GPS drivers and Voodoo Kernel.

I never said his statement was invalid. I'm simply pointing out that threads like this often turn into flaming etc. People posting hate threads are a problem on this forum. People replying to those threads with flaming is also a problem. People posting thread that are prone to start flame wars are also a problem. Threads like this pop up all the time and more often than not it ends up being a flame war. I agree with the OP. People should take the phone for what it is or stfu and leave. But making this forum better isnt just about shutting down flamers when they start crap.. its also about not feeding their raging and/or posting things that invite them to start trouble. Constructive enough for you?
If you haven't been here for long than maybe you have yet to see the pattern. And maybe you should at least thing about what I said in my initial post before resorting to insults. While your at it, I invite you to find a single post of me whining about anything. Because I promise you wont.

When Samsung releases updates then our devs can tear them down and make them better. Without that source code it's very difficult to make the custom roms that are so friggin awesome. This is why we don't have a totally stable and working 2.3 rom out yet, and we probably won't until Samsung makes the stock 2.3 upgrade available.

I, personally, have nothing to hate on the phone about..
We all complained for 2.2, but knew that our roms that we already have are FASTER and BETTER, when we did get 2.2 stock, no one used it, it was used by devs to probably put a few things in their roms, but after that, its gone.
The GPS sucks, i get it, thats their fault, they made a mistake, other companies have before as well (Apple with their antenna) I don't use GPS i have a GPS so i use that instead of my phone.
Besides that, i can complain for probably... no flash for the camera, but thats it.
MY phone is PERFECT, with the devs all that hard work, and i'm talking about the REAL devs, not the fags who theme and call themselves devs.
(no offence to themers at all, themes are themes, and are not meant to be a full rom, with the exception of Jellette's Bi-Sidekick ofc, it had to be a new rom even though its a theme)
I, Thank you all developers for sticking with us through the hard time that Samsung has given the devs by not releasing the source code, etc.
