I have a dead pixel, just one that I noticed. Should I be concerned? Worth returning? CAN I return for one dead pixel?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
It depends where it is IMO. The dead pixel return policy depends on where you bought it from. Places like TD, walmart, and Amazon are generally pretty cool about it, while Newegg has an x number of pixel policy (8 I think?).

I've got several dead pixels (and a dust particle) and I'm returning. But mine is through amazon so their return policy is great. I think it might depend on who you bought it from but most places should return for any defect. If not, just return for refund and buy somewhere else, if you can find one.

How do you run a test?
I think if it's just a couple I'm not going to worry about it. My eyes aren't great and I won't notice it. I'd just have a short funeral for the couple of dead pixel and move on. But if it's more than 8-10..yeah I'd return it.

I have at least 3 that I saw easily, 1 almost dead center of the screen. Didn't conduct a full test with the appropriate setting (dark room). 1 in the right location is enough, especially with amazon's return policy.

1 in any location with Amazon. They take everything and anything back, not to mention they pay for return shipping and send the carrier to you for pickup.

I'm in a similar situation with the light bleed issue.... don't know if I want to send it back because I could very easily get one that's the same or worse.
crap...
everything is perfect except the ONE dead pixel i saw...
Walmart purchase so im returning this damn thing. but theyre out of stock prob...
Another one here, it has appeared after 8 days of the purchase date.
It's near the right hand border and with the red component dead, so it's not bright when screen is black but isn't white when screen is white. Not very noticeable, but I thought dead pixels were a thing of the past...
I'm debating whether or not to return mine. I got mine from CompUSA. There is either a dust particle or a dead pixel on the right side of the screen.

I ordered a device from Currys UK last week however it had the screen raise issue so I got a refund on it.
Decided to order with Tesco for collection @ store tomorrow. I'm just wondering has anyone had one from Tesco and the device has been totally perfect?
Cheers
1 dead pixel but that's it. And I can't notice it unless I run the dead pixel test app. My wife called me sad for even testing it

You have no screen separation at all?
I received my nexus from Tesco on Saturday morning and can say mine is perfect. Checked all the "common" issues and my device shows no signs of them! I hope yours is the same!
The only issue I had was the cancellation of my first order due to stock running out...glad I ordered again the day after, I love it
I got mine last friday. I have one dead pixel I noticed today. I did notice a slight screen seperation too but that wasn't a big deal.
The dead pixel however, is annoying. I may return it for a new one.
I ordered from Tesco and have screen separation (screen lifted on the left side and make clicking noise). Which for some strange reason seems to have sorted itself since I pushed it back down after watching a movie. But i still rang, they have a replacement coming for me tomorrow and I simply give the courier my old device.
Mine is perfect from tesco, screen OK, display ok. rooted and running tablet mode without changing the dpi.

I think i will be ordering from Tesco instead of PC World/currys if the standard of their units seems to be good. I will be ordering from Tesco Direct though, too lazy to go and get it
Just received my replacement and it has screen lift straight out the box. Also the courier said he didn't have to paper work to take my old device back . So now I have 2 devices both with manufacturing errors, time to ring up Tesco again
Picked up my 7 yesterday. One very happy owner.
No dead pixels whatsoever.
No screen lift, but if I press really hard on left side,a very slight creak is heard.
I didn't even notice it until I tried to press on the left side.
Don't think it will be a problem but,if it gets worse,I'll use my 12 month guarantee.
Two issues...
-Faint ghosting, not as bad as some people have had though.
-Screen lift, but it's a tiny amount.
In both cases I can cope with how it is right now, but am concerned one or the other will get worse. Obviously returns are easier in the first 28 days due to the no quibble returns policy.
Maybe I should just be happy that everything else appears to work.
Dropped it flat on the glass on a slate floor. Broken glass and display. I'm heartbroken as I have been perfectly happy with this device!
Is it worth it to get it repaired?
If not, what tablet will I be just as happy with?
I really like the 10in format but am looking at the Nexus 7.
Maybe get the TF fixed, and get a nexus to hold me over?
Is there another tablet that has the dev support the Tf 101 does?
I know, a disjointed post but I am not in a good place right now.

I feel your pain, They still make great media players via hdmi without the screen, I got quoted around $250 NZ to get my screen replaced plus $80 NZ labor which is a bit expensive, tf300t is the next tablet ill be getting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT2O-CD9Ga4) as it works out like $50 more then the tf101 brand new youll get all the tf101 functionality plus more (Dev support isn't as numerous but thats to be expected from newer devices)
Its worst feeling in the world seeing your prized tf101 damaged !!
I seriously would have preferred he drop it on his foot and broken a toe or something. It would probably be cheaper.

Is it completely broken? I've dropped mine twice and have some major cracks across the glass but they don't affect things too badly.
Mine was covered on the home insurance but i decided that the excess and hassle wasn't worth it, will save my pennies and upgrade in a year or so
Wow, I would be completely beside myself. If your insurance wont cover it, l suggest getting a refurb. I have one ( bought it from Newegg) and it's perfect. Somehow, I don't think a nexus 7 will take the place of your transformer. I love my Samsung Tab 7.0 +, nice to be able to hold it in 1 hand and great features! But my TF101 HAS the #1 place in my heart.
Best of luck!

The glass is intact but the display is definitely hosed. Some pixels are lit and the back light is working but I can see a large 5in crack through the display itself. $500 deductible on the insurance so it's coming out of pocket. I ordered the Nexus 7 and if I miss the larger screen I may get the TF repaired. Sigh...

That must only apply to the USPS. Mines out for delivery on the UPS truck as we Speak. I'm also thinking I may be into the second batch of N7's so we'll see about the glass issue.
I will return for a quick review though...After it's rooted of course
Ok, so I have had my N7 for 4 days now. Upon opening the box I immediately took the ota update and then rooted it.
None of the flaws I've read about. Only 1 website I frequent uses flash so no big deal there. 7in form fits well.

Hi
Recently bought a nexus 7. And I love it.
But after maybe a week I now notice ghosting on the screen sometimes not always also the screen separation. But the separation is not to much at the moment.
Is Google and/or Asus aware of this problem and have they given any directions on how to deal with this to us consumers or retailers?
Thanks

If you bought it from a brick&mortar store, return the defective unit immediately. Let the store manager know why you are returning the unit (defective), so other buyers have an easier time with their returns!
If you bought it from google play, contact google to start the return/exchange process. I've heard mixed reviews on the ease of returning to google, but apparently google/asus is admitting that the screen lift is a justified reason for return.
Good luck. I just returned my N7 to staples (screen lift + flickering at low brightness). I miss it but its much better to wait and get what $200-$250 paid for ... a fully functional device.
What you mean wait for it.
Is Asus going to fix this issue or you mean you will wait for another tablet?
Questions from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Ok I'm getting a refund on my phones nexus.
I bought it from Tesco direct.
Tesco direct are the only retailer in UK that has the nexus in stock currently. They asked if I wanted an exchange but I worry I'll get the same bad stock.
I called Google support and they said all the nexus being shipped by them now are fixed of this problem.
How easy is it to deal with issues with Google? Do they accept return of products easily? Do they cover the cost of postage on returns? Is it fast?

Had a chat with google and now I'm getting my 2nd replacement device sent over to me(third N4 overall). Everything was great, phone didn't get too hot, battery was fine, no yellow screen, touch sensitivity just how I like it, but...the phone emits this high pitched ringing sound through earpiece while on a call(almost like ringing in the ears). This reminds me too much of my experience that I had a few years back with the MT4G. Just as that took two tries before I got a phone, I hope this does too.
Anyways, those of you who have had to replace your phone, how many times did you end up replacing your N4 before you got a good device?

So.. went out today and got a replacement.. checked it before I got it replaced... once i went outside i forgot i didnt put it to full brightness and it was even worse than the one i just had. That shop only had one available so i went to another one.
Asked a guy that worked there if he had any in stock. He said yes. He then asked me is it an upgrade etc, i said no.. its a replacement. He then started running around and started making "oh" sounds and after a bit he said its been placed on hold for another customer.. BS of course. I couldnt really do nothing after that.. i tried.
He said he can check the other stores.. he did and he found one that had it.. only 10mins away.
Got to that store and the phone was 98% perfect. It just had a little screen bleeding. I knew by now all of them will have it so i exchanged it again.
After getting in the car i looked at it more and was very happy.. then my eye caught something. It looked like a dead/stuck pixel, chip on the inner side of the glass or something else. It could only be seen if you tilt the phone around but... im the kind of guy that wants it to be perfect and once i see something it cant be unseen. fortuning that store closed as i left it. So it was off to another one lol.
Got to that one.. they didnt have anything in stock.. and the guy said to me because they didnt explain the return policy (they did) we can refund you the full amount. So i got my moniesss and left.
Then checked in the o2 store and they showed me two of them.. both had imperfections on the silver bezel and they were a no go.
Sooooo.. gonna wait for the play store to have them back in stock... which by that time CES or MWC will show an even better phone lol. Although i want the nexus sooooo bad
Should I RMA because of a really slight screen lift, its barely 2mm.
I can push it gentle back to flush with the bezel, but the lift returns. There is no creaking or unresponsiveness...
I'm in the U.K and I'm still in warranty...

Hi all, just an update... I didn't buy mine from Google, bought in store... so I've had to send back to ASUS.
I have had the emails with the shipping forms, and it's all boxed up ready for the courier to pick up tomorrow... then it's off from the UK to ASUS Holland!
Hopefully it'll be back soon! I'll keep you updated.
Funnily there is no sign of screen lift at the moment as it's been pushed to the bezel... but hopefully they'll notice the problem upon investigation.
Going to miss my little tablet, as it's been perfect apart from the lift.
