Hi, as you can see, i can't get a usb connection. i can hear the computer make a noise, but thats it. i unplug the cable and i get serial notice.
running hspl 2.08 on a tmous hd2.
*also, if i install any other rom, my phone gets the "htc" screen, then reboots, and does this over and again.
Hi,
Need a bit more information...
What have you done leading up to this fail point?
Have you got Activesync (XP) or current windows 7 version installed?
What have you done leading up to this fail point?
i've been running imilka_HD_RAM v1, but i thought i'd try v2, or gingerbread. i install through clockwork, it finnishes, so i reboot. i get the htc screen (only says htc), and then it reboots again, and does the same thing. so i figured i'd do a task 29, but i haven't been able to get it to recognize the usb, though it works just fine when android is running. just not boot loader or mag.
the only way to get out of the infinite loop is by recovering the v1 i was running. happens with all the roms i try.
Have you got Activesync (XP) or current windows 7 version installed?
current windows 7 is running.

Hi,
From you did a task 29 you have virtually wiped your phone clean. No ROM,No magldr.
You need to start again from scratch...
I hope you had some data backups...
Check my sig ,guide number 2 if you need help.
ive done task29 before, so i know that i need to reinstall the radio, hspl, magl, and clockwork. i have my current rom backed up on a computer, an if i let i let it start up, android boots up fine.
kinda weird and frustrating since i want to try another rom out.

acitivesync runs ok?
YES, activesync is connected but I will try to reinstall it just in case if its the problem.
When your phone is in bootloader what SPL is listed, 2.10 or 2.08?
If 2.08 is listed, then HSPL should work and install just fine.
If 2.10 is listed, then HSPL will NOT work, and you will have to downgrade your version of SPL to 2.08, following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691779
Let me know either way.

that would give a different error.
usb connect failed is usually down to trying to use a usb port that isn't directly mounted to the motherboard. confusion arises because flashing and active sync work perfectly fine from these ports, but hspl doesn't.
try to use a port around back off the pc, not in the case or a hub
im having the same problem as above, im running the HSPL from a laptop.... so im assuming the USB ports are not directly attached to the motherboard.... but i want to know what other option is there?? ive tried all three ports from the laptop, with no avail...
When you run the .exe right-click on it and run as administrator
im having the same problem, but i already installed 2.08 spl and installed energy rom CHT. im trying to change the radio and rom now but i keep getting that error message.
Critical Error USB connection failed
I was doing some reading here while troubleshooting the same error while trying to load hspl2 1024 via USB. I'm far from an expert, but the experience I just had may be of some use. For starters, I'm running Windows Vista 64 and the required Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1. After downgrading to 2.08, which worked fine, I setup active sync and ran hspl2 1024 as admin. After waiting about 30 seconds, Windows comes back with this critical error message. It seems that when the device sent to boot loader (tri colored screen), the USB connection is interrupted with windows and hspl2 1024 doesn't automatically try to reestablish connection, hence the error message. Anyways, I left the device at boot loader after error message popped up, closed hspl2 1024 and reopened it. This time it immediately recognized the connection with my device and installed. 30 seconds and done!! I hope this helps!!!!

ok so im getting this same error message but when i try to install a rom not the hspl 1024. Lets see if this helps. Thanks!
hey guys,
i had the same problem before. for me it was because my sdcard. make sure you either remove it when flashing the hspl, because when you downgrade to 2.08 you have a LEOIMG.nbh file in your card, and it will interfere with the usb trying to flash. probably the same thing is happening with the problem with flashing the rom too. so remove the sdcard when flashing the hspl, but if you have a autoinstall file when installing a ROM, then either rename or remove the LEOIMG..bh on the sdcard before flashing rom or radio after.
critical error, same as everyone else
im on a 64-bit version of win7. i was having the same problem. i ran the hspl exe as admin and it worked. just wanted to confirm solution.

Thank you very much for that! I am now HSPL'd! Now on to custom roms...
Naveen
Hi, I have installed HSPL and attempted to load android on my HD2 Leo phone with the latest version. Once to Flashed the ROM my phone booted to a very basic Windows Mobile Energy O/S which keeps trying to boot to android. Once it starts booting android I just get a blank screen and everything freezes.
I am trying to restore my original O/S but even when I do a hard reset it still loads up Windows Energy. If I try and flash my original Windows Mobile ROM HSPL loads on the screen but it gives me a USB error connections.
So basically, Im stuck with this basic Windows Mobile Energy. Can anyone help (step-by-step if possible) with how I can restore the original Windows Mobile ROM onto my HD2 Leo. This problem is really stressing me out!!!
Thank you so much!
You should really make sure you know what your doing before you do it.
Ok, first check on your bootloader screen to make sure your device has hspl installed correctly.
download the normal windows mobile rom for your device, put your device in bootloader mode and connect it to the pc using the usb cable.
Run the ruu program.
When I load up the HSPL screen and connect through USB it just gives me a USB connection error. That's part of the problem
I am getting the same error too..Did any find got a solution for this????/
flash rom from SD card be easier if ur having USB problems,
yes try flashing the phone from the micro sd card but you need to use a smaller size card like a 1GB or so. enter bootloader and the flash will automatically start.
have you tried a hard reset?
You can find the method in here!

First post, how to uninstall
Its very easy!
Hi...
I have a TMOUS HD2 and I had a MDJ Rom on it but i travelled to India and i had occasional hangups and restarts with the phone. So i tried flashing to a different ROM and i tried MIUI but the condition persisted (HAD MAGLDR 1.11 and CWM 1.2)
However that didnt work and i couldnt update the radio too (assuming that the EDGE connection is messing up the phone)
So i flashed back to the TMOUS Stock Rom RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
and installed Radio 2.15.50.14 and HSPL 2.08.
After that i tried installing MAGLDR (1.13) in my Windows 7 system but it wouldnt. So i used a windows vista system and installed it using Romupdate utility.
Now i am trying to install CWM 1.3 but i keep getting this error
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: send partition data failed

Default OS is AD NAND

Can someone help pls? i couldnt post in the development forum cos i have to make atleast 10 posts else i would have posted this in the CWM 1.3 thread or this one even http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981811.
Also in option USB Flasher from MAGLDR
the prompt says WAIT USB... even after connecting the USB to the phone. HOwever on running the DAF, it comes as WAIT USB...USB but many threads say that it has to be WAIT USB..USB even before running the DAF for CWM.
Thanks in advance
Andrew
Shamelessly bumping the thread so that someone could help me!!!

What's wrong is that you have allowed USB connections in ActiveSync. Open ActiveSync and untick the "allow USB connections" box and reflash and it'll flash correctly.
Ok... since its windows 7 / Vista there is only Mobile Device Center and i have unchecked the option "Allow USB Connections" And I still get the error...
Is there any workaround for this ?
Does anyone know why there was frequent system hangups ? Could someone help me find the root cause of this one ?
I am trying to install any new rom and see if the problem disappears in anything. But unfortunately I am stuck with CWM install.
AJ
which size cwm are you trying? there have been a few reports lately (myself included) that teh 150 ver failed in various ways, , download the 250meg ver and edit flash.cfg to 150 (or just leave as 250 for a quick test flash) and see if it works.

Hi,
I tried the 250 one and the 450 one but it still fails. I dont know what is going wrong.

Try doing it like this.
Turn on your phone with vol down key held to enter bootloader (tri colour screen)
Run Task29.
When the phone reboots hold vol down again to get back into bootloader.
Flash MAGLDR 1.13 from bootloader by running "ROMUpdateUtility" instead of the DAF.exe.
Should work without a problem, I always flash MAGLDR like this.
I don't think it relies on mobile device centre like this so should eliminate any problems in that area.
This time when it reboots hold the power button to get into MAGLDR. Select USB flasher and flash the 150MB CWM partition. I sometimes have problems with the larger partitions but 150MB one always works.
Then install which ever rom you use using recovery option from MAGLDR.
Also make sure you have the latest versions of everything:
MAGLDR 1.13 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
CWM partition should be version 1.3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913

Hi,
I tried doing like you said.
I downloaded TASK29...
Got into bootloader (4 color screen).
Connected the USB cable... waited for drivers to install and then waited till the prompt changed from SERIAL to USB.
Started TASK29. (as adminstrator - windows vista 32 bit)
Showed Image version as blank and Updated ROM as 2.00.000.00.
Clicked on NEXT and then the Screen changed the HTC with 0%.
It is stuck there.
Now i am unsure what to do.

Don't know if you should unplug the phone. After it's started, it's possible to brick your device by unplugging in the process of wiping. I don't have any advice after that, but just a note if you're wondering whether it's safe to unplug. Wait 'til someone other than I with experience says otherwise. Sorry and good luck.
That has happened to me once before, not sure if it was during Task29, flashing a stock rom / radio or MAGLDR. I left it for a long time and in the end decided there was nothing I could do but pull the battery and pray my phone wasn't bricked. Luckily it was ok and I tried again and everything was fine. Don't think anyone will tell you to do that though because none of us want to be responsible for bricking your phone!
If it hasn't got anywhere after 10 minutes or so then I guess you won't have much choice.
In theory if it's stuck at 0% then it hasn't started yet so it might be ok to unplug and pop the battery but don't take my word for it.
Would probably be more of a risk if it was half way through and you unplugged it.
Good Luck!
Well i did post earlier that i didnt brick my phone yet... but i have tried everything else that has been said in the community and now i am losing all hope of getting the android to work on my HD2...
Can someone pls help ??

DL one of the setup programs.. 150 - 430 depending on what ROM you want.

I decided to go from Android to try wm7 mango and have messed up big time i think.I am at the moment on the tri colour screen and stuck a serial even though the usb is connected so i cant do a task 29 or anything else.I was on hpsl 2.08 to run android.I have tried to go back to win 6.5 via the memory card method which has put spl 1.66 back on but failed with the update. On the tri colour screen the message is "Upgrade rom code error please try again"
I am totally stuck at what to do next just to get my phone to boot into anything.I need to get the tri colur screen to show usb somehow so i can fix this mess i have just done.
Any ideas and thanks
I also get a 0028002 not allow msg when i try to boot a original 6.5 Rom via the mem card if that helps matters
Ok don't freak out your problem sounds very solvable. First the Serial in the white bar of the bootloader screen is not changing to USB because you do not have the drivers on your computer, this is the only reason you will ever have this problem. To solve it you have two choices.
One go to here and download Windows Mobile Device Center and install i on your computer. It has the drivers you need in it. I could not find the official download from the Microsoft site, they may have taken it down I don't know. If you have Windows XP on your PC you will need to down load Active Sync google and you will find it.
The second choice is to go to here and download version 4.1 of the HD2 NAND Toolkit by XDA Recognized Developer ksubedi. Install the toolkit and open it then look at the bottom right hand corner of the toolkit window and click on the Download Drivers button and you can download the drivers from there. You will have to unzip the file and run the installer to do this.
Also what HD2 do you have, is it a TMOUS or a EU HD2? this will help me know what ROM you can use to flash a stock Windows Mobile back to your HD2 being you now have SPL 1.66.
Thanks for that I am getting the drivers now.I have a EU hd2 and am wanting to put any win 6.5 custom rom on as i was trying to give wm7 another go.
Thanks Again

Sorry for the tad late response. Seeing how you have SPL 1.66 you can still use the HSPL 4 to flash 2.08 HSPL back to your HD2 and then flash anything you want be it a stock Win Mo ROM, Custom Win Mo ROM, MAGLDR, or cLK. You can also use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash HSPL 2.08.
I can't install the drivers as I am running 32bit windows 7 and they wont install on my laptop is there anyway around this thanks

No, install is fast & simple, maybe you have virus software causing issues with install or problems with your windows 7 OS ...
I think its time I had a format of my computer and start a fresh its been running really slowly lately.
Thanks for all the tips got my beloved HD2 running again even after dropping in a sink full of water and in the airing cupboard in a bag of rice for a couple of days seems to have sorted it out.All indicators are red yet she still lives !
Thanks all
OK, I know that this question has been asked so many times before. I just cannot get my HD2 to connect to my PC at all. All I get is USB Device Not Recognized. Even though I installed the WMDC for 64 bit Win 7. I rebooted already. STILL get the SAME issue. Every time I go to boot the phone I keep getting Fatal Hit 1. Either that, or the phone vibrates 5 or 6 times and doesn't do anything. Can I get some help?
EDIT: The phone does not want to boot at all into Android. I did a hard reset thinking that would fix the USB problems. Now it doesn't want to do anything other than boot into Mag loader, or boot into the quad colored screen showing the spl and other info.
The original owner had installed NAND Android on it. When I go into the quad colored screen be holding down the vol- I get.
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x50
Still no Luck. Tried again today. I reinstalled WMDC and rebooted. I DO however have FULL access to Magloader. I just cannot connect it to my PC.
EDIT: I'm now flashing a WM 6.5.x ROM via SD card. Hopefully that will fix my problems.
EDIT 2: I successfully flashed NRG's Energy ROM WM 6.5.x. Now it will only boot to the NGR screen and do nothing until it vibrates 7 times in a row. I already tried doing a hard reset on the device. No luck.
I'm bumping this topic. If it helps at all. The model is the 1024 US Model.

It will only go to Serial, not USB. Windows 7 64 bit keeps seeing it as an unrecognized device. Even after I installed and reinstalled the WMDC driver.
1. You can try another USB Cable.
2. If you got Fatal Hit 1 error, maybe your phone have hardware problem (Boot or Flash problem)
I got it to boot ONCE! Then when I tried shutting it off. It froze on me. I had left it off for about a day. I don't have any other micro USB cables in the house other than the one I already have.
EDIT: Going to try and boot it up again. Hopefully if it's not a WMDC issue. It's the USB port that has to get replaced. (On the phone.)

I am starting to think the USB connecter in the phone is dead. The motherboard has the overheating issue as well. I will have to buy another HD2, or buy a motherboard for it.
If you can get it to boot you could try droid explorer , I find it never fails me , just google for it .
