Does anybody else have a faint blue line on the mid-upper left hand side of their screen about half a cm in?
I guess I've got some duff pixels. It's easiest seen on a white screen.
Guess I'm going to have to arrange to send it back
Just did a LCD test and nothing showing. On your dialpad hit *#0*#
Hmm, seems like there are many complaining about screen issues.
1) Stuck Pixel
2) Burn In
3) You...
Tried the screen test, line appears on the red screen, so I guess I've got a set of duff red pixels.
I'll be on the phone to O2 this afternoon then

I had the same problem..
i went through 4 phones to get a perfect one.
here is my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13444483#post13444483
lucky me it didnt take days n days to get them. I had all 4 phones within 1 day... well two if you count the day when i received the first one.
If you bought it from carphone warehouse then you can exchange it in any store
Well I had hell with O2's customer service and trying to get it swapped (orders placed when no stock was in, orders replaced, orders delayed, orders turning up to wrong addresses).
I've got a replacement and it seems to be pixel perfect.

Does *#0*# and *#*#0*#*#* execute the same LCD test?
Edit: Hopefully I'll receive my phone within the next week or so, and I would like to test the screen before leaving the store

After 4 months of flawless work, the lower part of the screen (a strip several millimeters from the edge) suddenly stopped responding properly!
E.g., all buttons in this area (including launcher/phone/+ on home screen) either don't work at all, or sometimes activate after a while when strongly pressed with the thumb (orientation doesn't matter).
Just two hours before they responded fine to the index finger.
Also, I've noticed that when I "multi-touch" the lower line in a file browser with two fingers, it works nice! Buttons are too small for that, however
I first tried to restore backup, but it didn't help, of course.
Has anybody had the same problem?? I guess it's a warranty case ...
I would agree, it's probably a hardware problem that you'll have to bring your phone in for service to get fixed.
I'm having that same problem my self, but just now and then. What helped with me is that I press the upper left corner of the phone with my other hand and then the lower part works fine, so i think i should get a new digitizer or its just loose connector.
im having the same problem , i have put up with it for the past few weeks and its driving me nuts now. today i did a factory reset which made no difference , i called htc who didnt sound a bit suprised by my phone call it gets picked up tomorrow morning to go for repair so the question is ... is this a common fault? and how the hell am i gonna cope without my hero in my pocket ?
Yeah happened to mine last week, a few have had the same issue where it's just the launcher bit not responding. Although the good news is that I'm getting it back tomorrow though so it's good times!
I had the same problem with my touchscreen (after a month or so!)
Mine got picked up thursday by HTC and I just checked the tracking site and they just recieved it.
I wonder how long it's going to take
Visited their service center last week.
They've immediately replaced my screen with a new one without any ado. Now everything works as before!
BUT a friend of mine who bought his Hero in January is having similar problems now...
It is a common problem according to HTC.
Mine was repaired in just 10 days.
Same problem here, did htc said anything about this problem? is it a common fault?
thank you
I said it in the post above yours.
ah yes, right, thank you

If they acknowledge it officially, couldn't you provide a link please?
i gave mine last week to repair, they returned to me unfixed. on the paper stated that they only updated the software, what a dumb this htc guys. need to go back and tell them again the same story. im wasting my time only for this. wtf
I recently had this problem. The 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen wouldn't respond, took it into T-Mobile who said I'd have it back within about 7 to 10 days... 3 weeks later I got a text saying I could collect my phone...
On the paper sheet it says they've replaced the lens.. Which I can see they have as before I had a miniscule hairline scratch near the top.
They also mention a software update (1.0.0.A6288)
Either way it works nicely now.
I've recently experienced the same issue - the lower part of the screen, the one where the LauncherPro icons usually are stopped responding to touch. If I press really hard it works sometimes, but it's pretty annoying. I didn't sit on the phone or drop it recently, it just stopped working all of a sudden.
Is there anything I can do, as the phone is out of warranty ?
HTC South Africa gave me a new hero after I took mine in for the 3rd time. Hardware problem. Very happy with their service.
i have this exact same problem, is the only solution to send to htc? >_> Cuz my warranty's out already unfortunately... i flashed my hero to CyanogenMod 7 and it seems to have helped, but still not completely responsive... I also have a problem where at times i completely lose control of my touch screen where the spots i touch seem to respond to opposite sides of the screen... anyone else?
Remove battery, Remove sim card. put a dryer on the htc logo for about 40 mins. put the phone under a heavy object. Let it dry for about 15 mins and your fixed.

Hi.
My Diamond 2 has stopped working with touch screen commands.
Problem:
The upper layer of touch screen somehow separated from some part inside, and phone doesn't react to touch commands.
It's same as you take for example transparent label and stick it to some glass and in some places you see bubbles, but it's much bigger area.
Solution:
Phone going to service.
Anyone had same problem with your phone ?

Digitiser...
You can get a brand new housing and digitiser from eBay for £24.99... I've just ordered one for mine. Unfortunately, they come from Hong Kong, so I have to wait a couple of weeks but my device will be like new again! You may be able to but just the digitiser without the housing... worth a look
Short term solution is to pull apart with duct tape until newton rings disappear.

Same on my device, I will send to service.
Can anyone confirm a new digitizer fixes the problem? Seems like it would, just don't want to tear my phone apart and wait 2 weeks for one to find out it's something else.

Some people did confirm. Try reading post from a link that cyron wrote on first reply to me.
I've had mine repaired twice in the last 3 months with this problem. Warranty covered the repairs. Apparently according to the UK support 'it's not a common fault'. Yeah!
touchscreen can be actuated
I am Brazilian, sorry for my bad English.
I saw the picture on screen seems to be driven directly, if your appliance has pelicula try to remove it. May be keeping the touchscreen.
It happened to me.

I guess you mean there are "stuck" or "hot" pixels.
I had same problem.
So i received a replacement from the seller.
Same here, at least with a spot, it is an irregular area with a diameter of about 3mm, it's just brighter, and it's located in the upper left quarter of the display. I only notice it when the background is white, and more evidently when backlight is higher.
Doesn't really bother me tho, and especially is not reason enough to flash back a custom rom and send the device back for warranty waiting who knows how much. Being without it scares me a little since I have nothing else that would do as a decent backup
it's a known issue
search for "blotches" and you'll find a couple of threads about it.
i've seen it on 2 HD2s. i sent the 2nd one back to HTC for warranty repair and they replaced the screen.
My HD2 has started to get these the past few months, call o2uk and they said send the phone back for repair.
I dont want it to go off for a repair as devices like this never come back the same as if it was made in the factory.
I would like a replacement, i dont care if its a refurb.
Could always lose it and claim on the phone insurance lol

i have o2 premium insurance and i have a tiny scratch/crack on the screen from where i dropped it after a car crash , i asked o2 in the shop if it was covered and was told to call up and say i dropped phone and have a small crack, and would be replaced with a brand new phone.
i think i may call and mention the drop and the small crack / scratch and now have parts of the screen that are not coloured correctly lol
I have the same problem. I contacted the online dealer and they told me they would not replace it and I had to contact HTC support. Is this right?
I had this, htc repaired it free in 5 days. Go to htc uk website and call their support line. Was painless -just needed receipt (paypal proof in my case)
Did you get a replacement handset or did they just change the screen?

Hi All,
Does anyone have a vertical line across the screen on the left side of the screen? You may have to use the light theme in order to see it or go into the e-mail application and look carefully.
I am not sure if it was there all along or I have just noticed it. Is this because of the type of screen on the Omnia 7?
If other people have it then this must be because of the AMOLED screen, if not I may need to send mine back for repair. I will appreciate any answers on this.
Thanks
Nothing like that on mine mate - sounds like a fault/defect so i'd probably send it for repair.
Cheers

The first time I saw this was when I installed WP Bench from the market and clicked on 'display' and the choose 'Viewing angle', this is the last option. I can clearly see the vertical black line running across the screen.
Can anyone try this? Thanks.

On a white screen i sometimes get horizontal lines flickering across. Never really bothered me too much, a soft reset cures it or it goes away after a time.

That wrecks my head :S
A product should never malfunction like that.
Even better of my phone wont charge anymore so its sent of for repair :S
On my one I can distinguish a vertical green line on a white (or something close to white) screen. My guess is that this is because of the PenTile layout of the subpixels. I'd have to check with a mates Galaxy S to know for sure though.
Hello,
My wife dropped on floor her yotaphone 2 and now main screen remains always off and only back screen works.
In mirror mode I don't find a way to check if screen definitely broken. Can you suggest me a way to check if screen is gone?
Is there a way to try to reset everything from the back screen just to check if phone can be saved?

Unfortunately not.
I checked with a local yotaphone service and the cost would be higher than actually the cost of a new yotephone.
I checked Yotaphone site and there the cost would be higher considering the cost of sending the phone there.
Actually my wife is using the EFD screen thanks to mirroring but I'm thinking to buy a new phone.

right, the cost from their website is astronomical, I thought maybe there could be some light in the dark but I think I'll just sell the phone
Similar case here, but mine didn't fall: its front display was on for more than 2 hours, when upper side got very hot and switched off. Now, when I touch the on/off button, the display only briefly flashes in green. E-ink panel and phone both work correctly. I've tried to default reset and reflash firm without results.
Mine is a YD201 bought last october. Have you heard of other cases of front display low realibility?
Same
I do hear rattling inside so I’m gonna open up. I highly suspect something has disconnected in the phone itself. Though poor quality for breaking at one drop without any damage. (Other than the front panel won’t turn on)
Rattling could be due to the side buttons...
BTW I sent mine to repair to the seller -under warranty- and received a new one after 6 long months...
