Hi All,
Does anyone have a vertical line across the screen on the left side of the screen? You may have to use the light theme in order to see it or go into the e-mail application and look carefully.
I am not sure if it was there all along or I have just noticed it. Is this because of the type of screen on the Omnia 7?
If other people have it then this must be because of the AMOLED screen, if not I may need to send mine back for repair. I will appreciate any answers on this.
Thanks
Nothing like that on mine mate - sounds like a fault/defect so i'd probably send it for repair.
Cheers

The first time I saw this was when I installed WP Bench from the market and clicked on 'display' and the choose 'Viewing angle', this is the last option. I can clearly see the vertical black line running across the screen.
Can anyone try this? Thanks.

Just a bright pink screen - no lines or anything odd that i can notice...
Ive noticed some horizontal lines across the screen that suddenly appear when using IE. But a restart fixes it.

On a white screen i sometimes get horizontal lines flickering across. Never really bothered me too much, a soft reset cures it or it goes away after a time.

That wrecks my head :S
A product should never malfunction like that.
Even better of my phone wont charge anymore so its sent of for repair :S
On my one I can distinguish a vertical green line on a white (or something close to white) screen. My guess is that this is because of the PenTile layout of the subpixels. I'd have to check with a mates Galaxy S to know for sure though.

I've been inspecting my phone very carefully, and I noticed under the screen (When turned off) there is an outline of a box near the center. I'm wondering if anyone else can see that or its just my phone

The red line shows where the box lines under the screen are. I know its probably nothing, but I've never seen such a thing before in any screens.
nope, cant see it on mine, ive had a look indoors and out to see if i could get it to show up.
mainly ive been trying to get the little loading icon to show up so i can marvel at how it looks more like some sort of illustration rather than something onscreen.
try to turn off phone and try on bright sun light.
Can see this on mine - hadn't noticed it til you mentioned it
I had to use an LED keychain light on it to see it though so hardly a problem - it looks like some of the components that sit behind the display.
Try watching that dissection video and see if anything like that shape comes up.
I have to ask-
Why the hell would anyone care, if it's so hard to see that you actually have to search for it closely under sunlight/flashlight, and only when the screen is off?
Its a secret camera ! government is watching you !

Well I can actually see mine easily when it's switched off and in under normal lighting conditions.
Due to the fact that people don't tend to stare at screens when they're off, i still don't think it really matters....
Well sorrrrrrrrrrrry. Someone tell the scientists to stop wasting their time look at stemcells because we can't see them with the naked eye.
Hey Pika, there's no need to be like that. I was merely curious about this because I've never seen such a thing before in any kind of screen (as mentioned in my first post) and I assumed it was some sort of fault with my phone.
Now I know it's fine so I'm okay with that.

it's an embedded sensor filament under the screen. I've seen it in bright sunshine when the screen is off. So no. Your not crazy.

Based on the image you have drawn: Screen burn-in of the large battery-charging indicator?
Not sure if burn-ins are visible when the screen is off though, probably not.

Sensor filament?
Anyway, all SGS phones have it so don't worry about it. It's just the way it's designed.
It's most visible in sunlight with the screen mostly black or off.
I was also worried when I first noticed it. There have been a couple of threads about it before.
Don't know if there's a link, but after running and charging my phone on android i've just discover a shade on the top left of my screen. Of course the shade is present on WINmo too... Those days i've noticed that the colors of my screen weren't normal but it disappeared after a soft reset or takink of the battery. Was it a sign? Now i really have a problem with my screen but it probably come from taking it in my pocket or something like that...

IMO, i think its because of part of the backlighting going out. id think its from dropping it and it landing on a corner. but it could just be bad backlighting components.
Send it in if its under warranty. If not, Use the insurance that you SHOULD have bought.
let us know if it gets any better/worse.

There're different kernel with several voltage, so i was thinking about voltage or over heating during charging or overcloking CPU..perhaps.
It seems that the shade move on the screen.
My phone is under waranty for one more year, so i wait a little to see how it goes.
Hey everbody,
I can't remember if i've had this problem before, but my DHD came back from repairs 4 weeks ago. Touchscreen was removed to refix it because it was a little lose at some points.
Got it all back and repaired, new camera coating etc. But.....
I (Sometimes!) notice when i pull down my status bar, or my lock screen, and i stop before pulling it all the way down (So holding it in the middle of the screen with your finger).. the bar starts shaking like hell.
It's like i have a really big finger and the screen doesnt know where to go with the status bar. Even when i just hold the screen with my nail the problem stays.
Problem only occurs vertically, not horizontally and doesn't always seem to be there..
Do other desire HD's have this also? Is it normal? And if it isn't does anyone know a quick fix? (Tried cleaning screen, restarting..etc)
Thanks in advance!

Here you go! Seems that every DHD has this problem.
Noticed the topic, but not sure if it is the same.
I also have the problem with drawing lines diagonally when doing it slow, not fast.
But it does not seem to be the same problem as i am referring to right now.

This other brand phone seems to have the same

Incorrect my friend, you will notice that the OP states the problem is in vertical scrolling and not horizontal. That thread is all about the horizontal scroll problem that affects a huge number of touch-screens in a great many devices.
haahah funny title hope u fix that.
Hi all ! I recently bought a Galaxy note and was really happy with it. But recently I was reading a mail in the inbuilt mail client (not gmail) and had the background color set as grey and I see a tiny white dead pixel in the bottom half of the screen. I then performed the screen test with the RGB colors from the service menu but in all three screens its not visible. Its visible only on grey backgrounds not even visible on black background. Can any body else test this and confirm !!!.
Instructions: Configure the mail client in the phone (if not already configured) and open any mail and set the background color to grey. Zoom the mail as far as possible so as to see only the background and not any mail text. and check the whole screen for any stuck pixels from a distance of about 5-7 inches.
Please Check the pic !!!
Hello,
Can you please take a picture by a camera or so, as i think it gonna be easier for people to help you and to see exactly what do you mean.
I ve added the PICTURE now !
I have the same. I was considering to return it but I see the pixel not often at all.
Only on certain background...
tried to use screen test...gray background but nothing...
can you still exchange it ? Just tell them it keeps rebooting when in the middle of calls...works fro me...
More user please comment?

Checked... slightly hue change on right side but no stuck or dead pixel...
Checked mine and don't have any dead pixels or tint/hue problems. Screen seems perfect so far *knocks on wood*. HK white version of the phone.
Check to make sure your dead white pixel doesn't move when you scroll the gray background. I saw something that I thought looked just like yours when I opened up Pandora for the first time because it has a gray background when your entering your login info but I noticed when I scrolled up and down the tiny white pixel was moving as well and was completely gone when I scrolled it off the screen.

Suggest you return it. It should have at least one year's worth of Samsung warranty and depending on how you bought the phone (outright or through a carrier contract) they might be more generous as well.
And also mention that you bought this device for the screen and have a sharp eye for screen defects (because you are creative with the S-Pen? Hah!) and they may be more willing to offer an exchange or repair.
By the way it may also depend on which country you're in...
I got such a problem either. My phone had one dead pixel which is always black. And that happaned almost in 10 days after I've bought it.
I know it has 2 years of factory warranty and contacted with service. One of the technicians are a friend of mine and he told us not to give it to the service for just one dead pixel. One pixel is off the warranty until 5 and even it is 5 and the services agrees to change the panel, the phone couldn't be assembled as good as it used to be.So I decided not the see the dead pixel.
I have same issue
there is a reversed color pixel in my galaxy note display
it's visible in most background colors and just invisible in red and black back color.
this pixel is red in most times.
mines blue top right corner and you cab only see it when your screen goes in sleep mode

Try rapidly changing colors on screen it helps the stuck pixel to come back to life if it's really a stuck pixel. Never get only your screen replaced it's real bad, most of them don't fit the screen proper, dust gets in and it'll irritate you more than the current stuck pixel. Get the phone completely replaced if you can. 1 stuck pixel is mostly ignored under warranty terms, but give it a try
Sometimes a red pixel shows up on the left side of my notification bar and one time i saw it above the wifi icon. If I expand the notification bar it goes away. Anyone else get this? Could this lead to something worse? Never seen something like this before

I get that too, I thought I was the only one!
I thought it was permanent the first time I seen it, good thing it isn't!
It only happens maybe 1 time a day so its not that big of a deal for me
Happens more than once a day for me. Mostly happens when I first turn on the screen or when I'm changing brightness. Is yours in the same spot?

Mine occurs only in the top left corner, I haven't notice it particularly happens when I do something (though it might be I'm just not paying attention)
Anybody else getting this?

Well mine isn't a dead pixel. It disappears when I touch the screen
I have that too but it looks like software issue because it appears still in top left corner even if your phone is in landscape.

This is how it looks like when it appears. If it was HW issue it would not be visible on screenshot right?
Yeah saw it once today on the bottom left.
Yeah bottom left at the navigation buttons. I see it at random times. I'm not worried about it as it doesn't look like a dead pixel.
