I've received quite a handful amount of PM's regarding the new SO-01b update that it wasn't up to their expectations regarding UXP revamp or improvements. The SO-01b update is "not" what SE planned to update. It's version is still 2.0.1. Please note that the update is not what has been planned nor is the one planned canceled. Everything is still on schedule, and you will all receive your next big update to 2.1.A update soon. The final test firmware has already begun internally a few days ago, so it will take a while before it exits testing period. Please be patience guys
P.S. Anyone read the Vivaz 2 article? I can only laugh

So will the UXP bring Arabic support?!! I am dieing here!!
Vivaz 2? Isn't that the MT15 Hallon?
According to a SE event held in egypt ,all the xperia range will get arabic support in Q1 2010 (i can't find the link now but it's confirmed)

Yes, it should be supported in 2.1.A, but NOT 2.0.1.B. I'm sure there will be people who misunderstand that. Thanks for the confirmation from your location
Thanks for clearing this up. Is it possible to give some more info on the contents of this update?
In Japan there is a rumor that SO-01B will not plan to update to 2.1x.
So I think 2.0.1.b.0.19 update is final update to give us MT for SO-01B.

Your title says for "non-rooted" users. So if you are rooted and running stock SE you will NOT get the update?!
I think he still thought that the new update couldn't be root.

No, I did not meant to say if you are rooted then you will not receive an update. It's definitely not true Most of the rooted users are probably already on the clean roms or even 2.2 roms with MT enabled throughout. So I don't know if you guys would be interested in the new update

@unknown13x- What exactly is the difference between the Hallon and the Arc? Given the Hallon article by MR, it seems that we are going to pay a premium on the Arc for inferior features. The hallon has a front cam while Arc doesnt. Everything else is the same.

Does the new mediascape have an equalizer? And is the Timescape scrollable? That will make me switch back from 2.2 if so...
SE should enable track skipping with the volume buttons, like on my old k800.
What could we expect with new version?

I'm in charge of all X10 firmware development, and it hadn't crossed my mind that it would be possible to port the Arc firmware to the X10... however, I've just checked and it worked.. first time.. didn't have to change anything.. We'll upload it to SEUS first thing in the morning and you'll all be rocking some Ginge by lunchtime..

sarcasm aside... it might not be too hard for the devs on here to port the Arc f/w across to the X10.. a lot of the h/w is the same... no doubt time will tell!
Arc hardware isn't identical, the screen is completely new, it looks like true multitouch, has bravia engine, Exmor R and all that jazz, i don't think the port will be possible.
i think in that case it's just a matter of changing the drivers, which shouldn't be too hard for them to make it x10 ready
if they can do it with a bare firmware, i can't see why can't they do the same to the SE future firmwares
As you might know or not back in november sony announced that they wil split from ericsson this year.
Now Sony is back in buisness at CES 2012 and they announced their first non-ericsson phones(that make our x8 very teeny-weeny )Here is a more closer look at the new phones.
But you may ask what is the conection with our x8?Maybe now new-
SE wil finally make an update for our phone!!!!(I hope)

Sony will sell some "super mobile phone" in near future but they do not care a little bit about the old one ( like x8 ) how sad it is

Was headed up the M74 last night and overtook a big white sony xperia double-decker bus covered with logo's and pics of the Z Ultra and Z1/Tab. I am thinking that they might be about to setup in Edinburgh/Glasgow for some kind of event. Anyone know anymore?
I work in Edinburgh so will pop in if they are indeed here.

It's parked on the pedestrian precinct, outside the Omni centre this morning.
Saw this parked up in milton keynes, they basically stand outside dipping an xperia z1 into water...
