New update for non-rooted X10 users - XPERIA X10 General

I've received quite a handful amount of PM's regarding the new SO-01b update that it wasn't up to their expectations regarding UXP revamp or improvements. The SO-01b update is "not" what SE planned to update. It's version is still 2.0.1. Please note that the update is not what has been planned nor is the one planned canceled. Everything is still on schedule, and you will all receive your next big update to 2.1.A update soon. The final test firmware has already begun internally a few days ago, so it will take a while before it exits testing period. Please be patience guys
P.S. Anyone read the Vivaz 2 article? I can only laugh

Yes, it should be supported in 2.1.A, but NOT 2.0.1.B. I'm sure there will be people who misunderstand that. Thanks for the confirmation from your location

Thanks for clearing this up. Is it possible to give some more info on the contents of this update?

In Japan there is a rumor that SO-01B will not plan to update to 2.1x.
So I think 2.0.1.b.0.19 update is final update to give us MT for SO-01B.

Your title says for "non-rooted" users. So if you are rooted and running stock SE you will NOT get the update?!

I think he still thought that the new update couldn't be root.
It's for those who dont root thier X10

No, I did not meant to say if you are rooted then you will not receive an update. It's definitely not true Most of the rooted users are probably already on the clean roms or even 2.2 roms with MT enabled throughout. So I don't know if you guys would be interested in the new update

@unknown13x- What exactly is the difference between the Hallon and the Arc? Given the Hallon article by MR, it seems that we are going to pay a premium on the Arc for inferior features. The hallon has a front cam while Arc doesnt. Everything else is the same.

Is there anything more you can tell us about the update, or maybe show us???

Hi again unknown13x, been a while....
Does the new mediascape have an equalizer? And is the Timescape scrollable? That will make me switch back from 2.2 if so...

SE should enable track skipping with the volume buttons, like on my old k800.

What could we expect with new version?
Just give us some hints, please!

Sony Ericsson X10i Hong Kong Android 2.1 Release

I know that this dead horse has been beaten enough already. But I thought Hong Kong Sony Ericsson X10 users may be interested to hear that the Android 2.1 update is scheduled to be released in September, along with a second a marketing campaign push for the handset.
Before you ask me about the source, I'll tell you now that I cannot share it.

thanks for the heads up

As far as I know, they have said that the release will be Q3 and onwards. There was no official mention of September, only an assumption made by us. Please correct me if I am wrong.
No, I cannot give you a source because the information is not available in the public domain. This information was passed in confidence between Sony Ericsson and a mobile operator.
I thought it'd be nice for me to share this information with you guys but if it's causing so much distress, I have no problem keeping it to myself. Frankly, it's not worth risking my job by posting a confidential e-mail here.
You are welcome to ignore what I post (and you should take everything on internet with a pinch of salt), but the last time I did something like this, it was pretty damn accurate - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725008.
Have a nice day.
Hey.. I, for one, would like to say thanks. The more we hear about this being september the more confidence it gives me that they will hit their target. Thanks.

I work with a Pony and can confirm 3 came out
Q1 -> January, February, March
Q2 -> April, May, June
Q3 -> July, August, September
Q4 -> October, November, December
So, if it will be out int Q3, it will be released in September, everybody knows that...
Oh btw August is nearly over so there is no other possibility than september...

That'd suck the only things that are "constantly" upgraded are the PS family (speaking about sony in general) SE is just like scamming us badly
and the x10 has a lot of potential. I might just change to HTC (and worst cause HTC is not sold in Mexico) just to have a phone up to date
I'm fine with no froyo update...i already had it on my nexus...didn't find it any more great than 2.1.
I am disappointed in SE tho for delaying our much needed 2.1 update. I wish they would get there **** together as they could have a major contender in the X10

SE and Sony are not the same company.
Sony updates its consoles, its TVs (BRAVIA Link), its computers, its cameras, ect.
My hope is that SE activates the kill switch and turns everyone's phones into paperweights. Read your Terms of Use, they mention the kill switch and how they can delete all of your data, and kill your phone at anytime.

Latest xperia x10 update solved all problems

Hey all,
Latest xperia x10 update solved all problems, yesterday I was looking at one of the topics on how to make my xperia x10 multi touch, when I connected my phone SE PC Suit indicated that there is an update, so I did it. It was for the multi touch.
The funny part is that about two months ago I was trying to enable Arabic, today I realized that the Arabic font has changed, and I thought that the update was also for languages, guess what.. IT DID, now I have Arabic, multi touch and god knows what else.
I just wanted to share this information with you guys and ask you, if the same thing about the Arabic happened (or will be) on the HTC Desire HD?
There's a rom by Lee that supports arabic fonts. It's called LeeDroid ARA.
Anyway I didn't notice any improvement with the latest x10 firmware. Kernel sucks as usual
Honestly... how much is Sony Ericsson pays u to say good things abt them here?

As a Xperia X10 user, i disappointed on this SE news:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2011/02/25/questions-and-answers-from-mwc2011/comment-page-1/#comments
From now on, if there is no good HTC phone, i will buy SS, SE can't make a smart phone. SE made well cyber-shot phone, walkman phone, but smart phone always need update.
An other thing...
To call it multitouch, is quite a stretch....
It is at most bad implemented crappy not functional DUAL touch...
Clearly you have never tried real multitouch...
Do your self a huge favour and buy a HTC, and you WILL discover the difference...

For me, I like my white X10, I can't find anything like it on HTC or Samsung, which a lot of people here are praising. Stop crying on your wrong choice, SE got your money already, just move on. Ha! Ha! Ha!
My SE phones always functions correctly, what I hear about Samung/HTC phones is not positive. They dont always function correct. So I'm happy with my x10! And the dual touch works perfect. And yes I already used some real multi touch on other smartphones.
PLEASE DEVELOPERS CRACK THE BOOTLOADER!! YOU GUYS ARE OUR ONLY HOPE!
Lol that's bs... I had a htc hero before this and my gf has a desire z. Htc phones work just as well, maybe even better.
The only reason I switched was because I got my x10 for a really good price and because of the bigger processor.
@MJ_QaT: If that's the case why dun u ask ur dear SE to release 2.2 or 2.3 updates as we r already 2 steps behind and 2.1 apps r getting obsoleted, as well as releasing the bootloader and FPS while u r at it...

So you are the victim? Um, pretty much every android gets one major OS upgrade, including HTC and Samsung, so the problem is that you made the wrong purchase. If having the latest OS version was so important, why did you buy the x10 which came with 1.6 and said "updateable to 2.1"?

It's being tested on X10.

Sony ericsson does not release software with the exact code as android. For example: If our next update should be 2.3.3, than the update on PTCRB will have the form 2.3.3.x.A/B.x. It's just a code. I has to do with the Sony Ericsson software version numbers and not android version numbers (1.6,2.1,2.2,2.3,2.3.3,2.3.4). So it could be another 2.1 update and change maybe only the baseband, or kernel....or it could be the real deal regarding 2.3.3 update. It's just their way of making updates. So someone from XDA said that the update 2.3.3 will have the form on PTCRB like 3.0.1.G.xx. My guess it's the real and official gingerbread update. A few more days to wait.

Perhaps for branded devices...
Yeah i see it carefully now it seems 2.1 or update for at&t
but its for both x10i and x10a
That's a good news anyway..means that in SE someone is still working on x10!!

It's clearly an update for branded devices that haven't received the GB update till today and they never will. It's not a judgement post of how SE is or isn't a hypcritic company that steals from its clients (which in my opinion isn't) and certainly there will be clearly no roll-back whatsoever to 2.1 , this would just be ubserd.

Well there are other X10 phones which are branded and sim locked,this update is for them.
would be interesting what they give in this update. Arc launcher may be to make X10 2.1 look like 2.3 so that people don't think they are missing anything.
i guess that's gonna be a minor update for japanese 2.1 firmware, since they are still on 2.1 and not upgrading to 2.3
