Hey guys,
I recently tried the app simply lockscreen, in which there is the "force unlock". Basically, you swipe your hand over the proximity or light sensor (not sure which). Would it be possible to implement this concept into an app to close apps, navigate in the browser, etc? Could be a cool thing to look into!

Hey guys,
I know that having auto orientation activated causes temporary freezes on android. Sometimes I don't want to miss the landscape orientation - so instead of having the orientation being checked by the proximity sensor (causing lags) - is there a chance to simply map a small programm to one of the hardware buttons (let's say longpress-back key flips orientation bei 90°)?
I wonder if one of you managed to do that with programs available at the marketplace. Or if one of you could give me a hint how to do that on my own.
Greetings
+1 on longpress

The new HTC g2 lancher posted here has landscape support but not through g sensor ,so it would be nice to have this option

The phone should be in a parallel position with respect to the ground. Lying flat. Or else it doesn't work

Put it on the flat surface and wait for a while, don't move the phone at all...
Once there's no movement for a while, the phone thinks its no more in your hands, the quick glance will work...
You can try going to Settings -> My Devices -> Motion and gestures -> Air Gestures -> Quick glance -> "Try It" to see if it works...
Not working also. I were try all the way like change to swipe lock screen, put on flat surface and not touching for a minute but still not working. I think i should take a video and show it to you tomorrow. Any more way to recomment?

If that is not working, you've a faulty unit?
The infra-red sensors are on top of the phone, near the front-facing camera...
It works when i use the (try it) and i make sure the quick glance option is ✔, after that i turn my phone's screen off and try it, it doesnt work I saw many people facing the same problem in Note2 before that.

I have the same problem here with my GT-I9500.
But it worked before and now works only once in a while.
Any help?
I noticed that it doesn't work sometimes ... but most of the time it's fine ...i believe it has to do with the sensors giving wrong measurements about the positioning of the phone ... or maybe some bug ...
My GS4 Quick glance stopped working few days ago unless I restarted my phone and it would only work once so I don't know what's wrong with it..

same here, quick glance not working. I put my phone on flat surface, I tried "Try It" and it works fine and sometimes my phone turns on quick glance even though Im not moving anything in front of it. My lockscreen is set for swipe, no serious mods, just rooted i9505
EDIT: uninstalling performance booster really helped!
You need calibrate the sensor with commands in terminal. I did it and now its working fine. Its an easy process, but need root.

Quick Glance Switching to Lock Screen
I have the same issue, when I do the Quick glance on the Try screen it works. When I use it, for some reason it starts like it should then it switches to the Lock screen like I hit the main or power button. I am also having an issue with it smart pausing, I believe they are inter related.
Is there a way to get the output from the gesture sensor in a visual format? I'm curious what it sees. Is it an IR camera? Or is it something more simple, like the proximity sensor?

I dont think its just a proximity sensor cause it knows in which direction you swipe

That's what I was thinking, too. I wonder if there's technical documentation anywhere / some sort of API for writing an app for it, hmmm....

Install "Sensor List" and it will show yo the output for all of the sensors it can detect. That being said, if I'm correct, you cannot access the gesture sensor. It's Samsungs proprietary API and they have not and probably will not share it with anybody.
please help
I use my SM-G900H for some days but I have a problem with orientation of the screen and of the camera.
I think the sensor don't response, when I rotate the phone nothing happens.
I used CPU-Z to verify sensors it seems OK
how can resolve this problem please help.
thank you
Have you turned off screen rotation? I suspect you might have.
There is a toggle for it in the extended toggle section of the notification drawer.
yes I do it

I solved the problem by strongly typing the phone against hand
The N6P has got the same fingerprint sensor than the mate s. Is it possible to get the scrolling feature with the fingerprint sensor as a touchpad for photos and browser ... working? This would be very usefull especially when reading long text.
There is a lot of potential features that could be realized with the fingerprint sensor ... such as switch to last app when longpressed or double tapped while unlocked.
I don't got any programming skills so i don't know how to do this at all. Just some ideas
I do self talk here ... just want to bring this up again.
Scrolling with the sensor would be so usefull as i always got pain in my little finger holding my device while reading long text ... anyone even know if this is possible?
Hi, you do have a good idea! Try the Kinetic Scroll app for now, and ask the developer here about the fingerprint scanner.
If you can, I'd suggest make an xposed module! A lot of people (myself included) would definitely be interested!
I think it's possible to do it because the Huawei made scroll screenshot in their system so why not implement this feature in the fingerprint sensor it will be very useful to all users
Imagine if we could have the functionality of the Nexus 1s track ball from the fingerprint scanner. ?
