Hey guys,
I know that having auto orientation activated causes temporary freezes on android. Sometimes I don't want to miss the landscape orientation - so instead of having the orientation being checked by the proximity sensor (causing lags) - is there a chance to simply map a small programm to one of the hardware buttons (let's say longpress-back key flips orientation bei 90°)?
I wonder if one of you managed to do that with programs available at the marketplace. Or if one of you could give me a hint how to do that on my own.
Greetings
+1 on longpress

The new HTC g2 lancher posted here has landscape support but not through g sensor ,so it would be nice to have this option

Hi,
As we all aware of the frequent usage of home/back/settings buttons requirement when using android os. The issue with the hd2 being the case that these buttons are mechanical. Over the time it is certain that these buttons(especially on hd2) will become loose. I was just wondering if there is any solution for this. I remember seeing that Droidx has a built in soft button toolbar which pops up as required. If that is the case, is there a package/app available for hd2 that makes this possible? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

I'm using Smart Taskbar as an alternative. Serves me well so far. Download from Market.
The smart taskbar is great, except that i wish it also had the back button and settings button action built into it. Do you know of any apps that simulates those actions?
Thanks though,

Havn't come across any so far... you can customise and add the Settings app into the Quick Launch List. No back button alt though.
Hi,
is there any way to configure the hw buttons backlight behaviour? In WinMo there was a little app called Keypad LED Backlight, which kept the HW buttons backlid as long as the display was on. I like that behaviour very much, especially when you are using your phone at night.
Right now the hw buttons backlight turn off after a certain time, even when the screen is still on.
Are there any apps or mods to configure the backlight behavious?
thanks
boba

I use button saviour (from market) so I have touch buttons on the screen, similar to how opera mobile pops its menu.

This really bugs me, why the hell does HTC Sense work fine in landscape with the keyboard open, but the second you close it it goes to portait, and you can't change it back?
What's the actual reason for this, is it just a bug?
I wouldn't count it as a bug, it's just how Sense was designed - the thinking is that if your keyboard is closed, you'd want to hold your phone in portrait mode (except for specific apps). I believe there are a few tweaks that you can do to keep accelerometer-based rotation on *everywhere* (as opposed to the current slide-status-based rotation).
It's not a bug but I agree that it'd be nice to be able to have Sense in landscape mode with keyboard closed.
I'm not into development stuff at all but would it be difficult to develop a small app that would either cheat by sending the information "keyboard is open" when the phone is turned in landscape position or by adding a 2nd condition for displaying the landscape mode (if accelerometer turned 90deg then display landscape mode)?

I think it can be made, but remember: if the device "thinks" the keyboard is opened, the softkeyboard is disabled. Then it should be configured to work only in the Sense laucher.

Yep you're right. I hadn't thought about that
In landscape mode if I refer to my personal use I'm more inclined to use the physical keyboard than the soft keyboard so I would anyway open the physical keyboard if I need to type something. But I don't know if other people have the same habit.
Mee too, If in landscape I always use the physical keyboard. The soft one uses a half of screen
Why is the DHD only able to go landscape when I counter clockwise(home button on the right)??? I can't seem to find a way to make it go landscape the other way? (home button on the left).
Anyone knows how? Only have this problem when watching movies and playing games....browser is ok can auto rotate
It depends on the apps. Some if then allow rotation in both directions, some don't.

arc media is kinda irritating only allow rotate to one side but not the other
thats the apps fault then, the DHD supports 360 degree rotation
any other video player to recommend that can auto rotate both ways?

Hi all
Im searching for an app that instantly rotates the screen to landscape and back..
no, not an app that toggles auto rotation. i want to assign the app to the call button, that i can turn it manually.
i want to decide by myself when the screen rotates.
this is cause im more and more pissed about the rotation when lying in bed, or walking around. i dont want to always toggle it on and off.. it was so much easier on windows mobile, i could just assign a button, wich instantly rotated my screen.
i googled and searched XDA, but found nothing that suits my needs so far.. :/
would be awsome if someone of you knows an app like this
ty.
btw, i installed the app "button remapper" where i can assign the keys.
but it has no option for rotation, or opening an app, so i just decided to assign it as the search button, so i can customize the key via the ultimate droid options.
now i just need an app wich turns the screen... :3
...bump..?.. :/

Or, search for RotateD API in Google. I use the app for my Augen tablet.
