LOADS OF THANKS TO HTC FOR THE LINK & andyharney FROM XDA FOR THE STEPS AFTER THE DOWNLOAD.
YOU WILL ALSO LOOSE ROOT.
Ad andyharney my saviour stated you need go go into bootloader by hitting power & volume down.
thanx for effort
Please use the thanks button ;-)
U still need to turn s-on the phone, right??
just simply do this and it is enough?
You need to access the bootloader for the PD98IMG.zip to flash. Power on holding Volume Down, everything else is spot on.
The PD98IMG.zip will restore everything back to HTC stock, everything except Radio S-OFF. But I wouldn't worry about that.
Can't find stock ROM for HTC Desire HD/India
Hi,
I have been going through lots of threads on here about other people also trying go get the official RUU for HTC Desire HD in India. Mine had CM7 on there since a long while, I recently moved to CodeFireX and it's near about rendered useless with FCs and random reboots. I wish to return to an HTC Stock Rom so the phone can be usable again.
However all the links to the RUU on all the threads related to the DHD/India have since expired. Anyone know where I can find the official ROM and how to go about unrooting the phone?

I'm new at this so i got all these noob qustions
First my DHD have built 2.42 with Arabic Regional Support ?
so
Do i need A Gold card ?
How do i know if my phone is S-Off or Not ??
What the best way to S-Off , Radio S-Off or Eng S-Off ?
When i downgrade will i loss my stock ROM ?
or i'll lose it at S-Off or rooting ?
Can i backup my stock ROM before i start rooting?
Rooting can mean radio off or/and eng off. Refer to desire HD development for rooting. Different build requires different ways to root.
Gold card, you will need one if your downgrading a branded phone. Branded phone includes any network locked phones and also unlocked phones. Even if you buy your phone out right from somewhere, there's still a big chance that it was locked previously. You will know when it says incorrect CID when your downgrade in bootloader.
Either radio or eng off allows you to flash any custom ROM, for beginners its recommended to have radio as its easier, while enthusiast have eng off, but most of the time, both. However to flash a radio, the recommended way is to have both off
The question about backing up your current ROM. After you root, go download a recovery app namely ROM manager which lets you back up your current ROM, meaning you can restore your stock ROM anytime you want. Hope that clears up a bit.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
You only need a goldcard if your dhd is network branded.
If you havent done anything to it yet it will have S-on
All the information you need is in the first post of this thread Link
If you downgrade it you will get a clean stock rom, losing all the data you havent backed up eg contacts, apps, app data. Anything on your sd card will be unaffected and you can use mybackup (30 Day Trial/Full Version/Root Version) to backup you data (but not app data because you dont have root).
Root your phone and use the root version (also free) to restore the backup. It restores with one click but the non-root versions need you to confirm each app installation.
First i'd like to thank u for ur reply , its very helpful
So i got this facts now, Correct me if i'm wrong
1- The best is to have both Radio and Eng S-off
2- I only need Gold Card if get incorrect CID
3- Downgrade , S-off and Rooting , wont replace my Stock ROM and i can back it up
Using ROM manager
4- I can backup my Info Using mybackup
Is this information correct ?

That is correct. But if you have to choose between eng off or radio off, radio off is a better choice because it's more permanent. You can still remove it whenever you want

i think downgrading does replace your stock rom, just with another stock rom. but it'll be like a brand new phone out of the box after you downgrade, everything will be wiped.
i did the downgrade using the link posted above, and i didn't realise it would do that. I thought i could downgrade, root, back up, flash rom, restore. turns out i should've backed up before downgrade.

after you have downgraded, you could always do an OTA update. so essentially its still the stock ROM that your phone came with.

If your radio off, no, you don't have to root again. Radio off is one of the most permanent thing you can do to your phone. However you can still radio off anytime you want.
However, if your only eng off, you might have to, depending on what version of bootloader you upgraded to.

Comments on your steps.
1. i havent actually personally tried mybackup. but you do realise restoring apps and data from your stock to a custom ROM is different than restoring it onto a stock RUU, simply because custom ROMs might run slightly different. but by all means, try it. i am sure thats not enough to break your phone. you might have to redownload some of the apps tho.
another interesting thing to add is, gmail syncs your contact your email. after a fresh flash, all you have to do is resync. it doesnt give back your msges tho.
3. format your sdcard to fat32. this is important because larger sd cards default format cant be read by bootloader.
6. rooting can be divided into 2 types, eng-off and radio-off. what your doing here is an eng off procedure. skip step 9 all together.
7. make sure you radio off since you will be updating to OTA. some OTA breaks eng off, but radio off would still remain.
10. you might have to eng off (radio off would remain) again if you do an OTA update. i suggest moving step 6 after step 11
keep us posted on your status. good luck.

6. yup, that guide gives you eng off and proceed to step 7 to radio off. skip 9 since its the same as step 6
10. oops, sorry my bad, i meant move it after 10. but it doesnt matter really, since you have radio off (the permanent one), you can even backup stock ROM before you try to eng off. remember, radio off is also one kind of rooting and its 'permanent'

i'v found a much much simpler guide here
it's mostly automated and very organized
what do u think ?
Looks good. But I can't personally vouch for it since i never use his frevo toolkit before. But from what I can guess it's just automated script to run adb commands. So it should be safe. I say go ahead and enjoy rooting and flashing and tweaking and so on.

Depois de ROOT
Staff follow procedures for downgrade, I performed the root, did s-off, has to generate the GoldCard and applied correctly, now I have 2.2 Froyo routed everything right. Room Manager installed, I tried to install many more roms on the device restarts q always falls on a screen with a red exclamation warning. What remains to be done? What went wrong? I have to update the Froyo 2.2 for Ginger? if so? how? help! Thank you!
I am a wildfire user from HK, and recently I rooted and flashed CM7 nightly by the procedure form 3xeno:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Following is my case:
Since I have already OTA updated into 2.2.1 froyo, I downgraded the HBOOT and rooted with revolutionary method. Then I flashed CM7 with no problem occurred.
However I used the setcpu to overclock my device into 768MHz and i ticked the set on reboot by accident. I cannot reboot into CM7 loading screen so I flash the CM7 rom again and boot my device successfully. Then I also flashed the most updated kernel provided by 3xeno above. I haven't pay attention to the signal service since this point, no signal can be searched no matter what I did. I have already checked the APN setting and also doesn't work. The battery drain very fast (cell standby 82%) unless I turn on the airplane mode.
I reckon this is the problem of kernel/radio, and some developer said flashing radio is risky, so I flashed the RUU rom from Shipped ROM instead. I have tried both froyo and eclair RUU, even though some of the eclair disabled the touch input, but all the RUU cannot bring my signal back. Since the RUUs i flashed were with different radio version. I can still see the baseband version from setting=>about phone=> software information. The wifi can work with no problem.I didn't know what's wrong.
I have googled a lot and read a lot of threads in xda but still no idea. I decided to send it for repair. What should I pay attention to it before sending it for repair?
Maybe I forgot to mention something
In setting=>about phone=>Phone Identity
Model number : HTC Wildfire A3333
Phone number: Unknown
IMEI and Device serial number: same as the label under battery
IMEI SV: 01
In setting=>about phone=>Network
Operator name: Unknown
Signal strength: 0
Mobile network type: Unknown
Service state: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
I have tested my device with my friendsss' SIM cardsss, and the problem still persist.
ALL of the SIM cards, including mine, work well on the other phones.
Moreover, when I press down+power button, some sentences shown up:

loading.. [PC49DIAG.nbh]
no image or wrong image!
loading.. [[PC49img.zip]

loading.. [[PC49img.nbh]

after that it returned to the HBOOT menu and all become normal. They keep shown up no matter what RUU or CM7 rom I flashed. Is it a normal case or a sign of losing signal??
I have also installed the darktremor for app2sd before i flashed back the stock rom from RUU.
Sorry for my bad English.
Since you have s-off'ed your device with revolutionary, you have a custom bootloader, and thus no waranty anymore.. So it can and will cost you.
I don't know what is wrong with your phone.. perhaps stupid, but have you already tripple-checked your APN settings?
Erwin
Thanks for your suggestion. I've triple checked for the APN setting and sure that it is correct.

As far as i know apn has nothing to do with ur network unless you enable/ use gprs/3g internet connection.apn means access point name, and so it have nothing to do with the calls or network. I think ur problem is with radio, as u have a3333 u can try flashing a new radio, and some ruu does not contains radio,if it is a moded one,so there are chances that u have used one of them, go for it , try a new radio.
And in worst case it is a hardware problem,in which ovclck had done some thing wrong with ur processor or the radio module(hardware).in that case dont try to get ur motherboard replaced by htc, since u r out of warranty it will cost u a lot, so buy a new phn, nxt time go for wildfire s.

Learned something new here
I would try the same as what howlyshah suggests: reflash your radio, without the whole blabla of RUU's.
You can try first the latest radio (ending with 20.10). If that doesn't work, you can try the one ending with 19.25.
The process is indeed not without risk, but so is s-off'ing and rooting your phone, and you did that already Just make sure that you have enough battery, you don't interrupt the process and be very patient (for example, it could be that the first boot takes longer than usual).
You can find the radio's in the wildfire index.

This is really really really normal. It is simply your bootloader searching for an update file. For example, if you are S-OFF and you rename an zip-file that you want to flash to PC49img.zip, the bootloader will automatically ask you if you want to flash that file (so no need to go into recovery). If you are S-ON, that will only work if the zip-file is signed by htc, of course.
Good luck!

Thanks so much but I am a little bit confused by what you mentioned "out of warranty". Since I am still in the warranty period, is it still eligible if I flash the RUU froyo asia HK and flash the HBOOT 1.01.0002(S-on)? Or are you talking about the motherboard replacing service is out of warranty and they will charge me for the motherboard?
I am decided to buy a better phone now, I think it is a really good excuse Thank you guys!
Ya you have broken the security that htc implimented to protect their custom android os,which they use in wildfire,by s-offing ur phone.you can how ever fool them by flashing an ruu,and the s-on the drevice. I think there is some way to s-on the device.search the forum, u will find it, else flash an old ruu, like 2.1 or lower, connect to pc suite, update ur phn,and maybe htc will again update ur phone, and s-on it(i never tried it, but i think it will work,as most companies do the same like se,nokia etc), then you can get ur warranty back, save a bucket of buckz

The alpharev hboot has a version number 6.x The hboot from alpharev AND from htc are protected against downgrading: you can not install one with a version lower then 6 ATM. So flashing a RUU will NOT work.
Btw, we didn't broke the security, the phone is still S-ON. But the hboot thinks it's S-OFF.
However, I tought I've read somewhere here on the wildfire section a way to downgrade the alpharev hboot to a htc one. So you can take a look indeed.

For maybe some more like me that want to go back to what it use to be with the hboot S-OFF, S-ON issue.
I had my phone S-OFF with alpharevx beta. Used CM7 -stable for couple days but decided i wanted to go back to all original. I first RUU my phone with the RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.2 4H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe file. Boot it up, made sured it runs, then did what is instructed below here;
To be able to do this you need HTC USB drivers installed. Install the HTC pakage, reboot, uninstall the HTC-
Sync software, keep the drivers! reboot PC again.
Power off your phone. Plug in your USB cable to phone. Press volume down and powerup your phone. After it
settle navigate down and choose fastboot option.
1. Unpack these files to your c:\fastboot
2. Open up your windows command promt (WinVista/7 users rightclick choose run as Administrator)
3. in command promt type CD\ then press enter
4. then your should be in C:\
5. type cd fastboot
6. then you should now be in dir C:\fastboot
7. Im bored to death typing, look below. Beware of each command ends with enter. After success, reboot.
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem mb 9C068490 1 30
... OKAY
C:\fastboot>fastboot flash hboot hboot_buzz_7225_1.01.0001.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)... OKAY
writing 'hboot'... OKAY

I am so scared my device will be broken again, so I want to seek a full guide here before I S-off, root and flash a new ROM again because of some bug of the stock ROM.
Q.1
Sometimes when I receive a call, I cannot unlock the lock screen, seems the touch screen is not working while ringing. Every time I encounter this problem, I have to reply the call after the the device stop ringing. It is really troublesome for me. Is flashing another ROM the only solution for solving this problem? any ROM suggestion for this problem??
Q.2
Before I sent the phone to repair, the Hboot 1.01.0002will check for update:
(SD cheking...
loading.. [PC49DIAG.zip]
no image!
etc..)However after HTC sent me back the repaired phone I found that the Hboot now do not search for the update anymore. In case I break the phone again by S-off, rooting andflashing a new rom, I need to S-on the phone again. But I am quite sure that If I S-on the phone again, the resulting Hboot will search for update and therefore different from the original Hboot after the phone repaired.
My question is: Is this device in the warranty in this case?
Q.3
I am also looking for a ROM supporting APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system (I am quite confused with the difference between them even after googled, can anyone tell me that?), any suggestion of the ROM supporting it?
I have used Darktremor before my phone broke for the app2sd but It is quite difficult to use since it involves inputing some command in the terminal emulator (and so scared to break the phone again by this). Actually it is very good, but I prefer some user-friendly apps that can perform the APP2SD/APP2EXT/Dalvik-Cache2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT system.
I found some apps, for example, simple2ext(S2E) and link2SD but I dunno the pros and cons between them.
My question is, which system moving apps into sd card is most suitable for wildfire??
Thanks for your help!!
I have a basic question,
I'm only asking because there's far too much
information available,
on here
and its not easy to find what best fits my
needs.
I have an unlocked A3335 wildfire ( Telstra NextG network 3g version), I'm using it on optus,
my boyfriend was useing it he dowloaded a
font change app for the phone,
but when he did it my phone went in to
bootloop mode.and keep't bootlooping again
and again
all i get is the start up screen,
with yes you guessed it
(Telstra NextG network 3g crap)
All I want to do is try and get my phone from
this bootloop mode and try and recover...
my phone back to how it was.
Its hard to explain,
ok when i go in to the boot screen
i have this on my phone
BUZZ PVT SHIP S- Off
HBOOT-1.01.0002
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-3.35.20.10
DEC 27 2010,
17:49:10
and it reads the sd card,
it said the Boot Image. is missing
dont know why a app would take this out
but this is what happen
So Now when i did the fastboot on my phone
it done nothing,
then did the clear storge.
then i did the recovery
it rebooted to a black screen with A
triangle shape with one of these things
! in the middle of it,
but still stuck
I can follow the regular guides for rooting,
can any one help me to get my phone back to
how it was please
And I really don't care about this part much,
but would be nice to have it off the phone
and remove all the telstra junk and restore
the phone back to how HTC would ship it,
(all the junk apps they include could easily be optionally installed from marketplace if you want their crap...)
(obviously I'm in Australia also)
There are so many ROMS and options available,
including the ones from shipped roms
(it wont let me post the link because I'm new).
I just want my phone back to how i got it,
can any one help me please....
please send me a private messages,
with a step by step guide to do so thanks..
Since you are s-off u can use fastboot flash from windows to flash a clockwork mod recovery. After you do that, every thing will be simple. Just download a rom in zip format, put it to sd go to recovery( just do what you have done to see the triangle in blackscreen. Note that if u flash cwm you will no longer see that triangle). Then use your volume down button to reach install zip from SD card. Hit it with joystick press. Choose zip. Install it. Just do a data- factory resetting before you install zip.
I prefer cyanogen mod 7. U may use latest stable or nightly build. Feel free to post any doubt you have. We are happy to help you.

nope that gold card image will send to ur email..and u need to copy that gold card image to ur sd card...
Well if the hboot is 1.01.0002 with S-OFF then it must be done using xtc clip. So fastboot flashing shouldn't be working. And u don't need a gold card for S-OFF wildfire .
I would just suggest to flash a stock froyo WWE RUU which also removes the carrier bloatware. If ruu proccess gives errors u can copy the romzip from that ruu and use it with pc49img process from hboot menu. And ofcourse fat32 memory card is must for pc49img process

Hey can you explain what happened now? You said that yours is working now before 2 days. ( in second last post). So what happened now? What have you tried with your phone?
And...
So the gold card question, let me explain.
Gold card is just a patch tool, with the help of which you can unlock HTC boot loader , or in detail, you can unlock HTC 's boot loader protection(that's what we call as s-off) , which is commenly locked( that's we call as s-on) , for a user mode phone( a phone that is for sale to normal user), and it is done so because a normal user never need a root permission, over clocking etc. Also user defined kernal, rom, radio updates unless HTC provide them with updates.( and of cource to protect their device and its custom os made by HTC.
So being an s-off device, we can say in simple, unleash the potential of android.( that's what i said, make the device yours and not HTC 's).
And s-off. In can be done using many ways, find them in topic " complete wildfire index " , one of which is using goldcard method. It is also explained in topic/ stickies " downgrade hboot to xxxx". You can download an attached file called buzz downgrade from that topic, and its what you all need.
And about ruu flashing, i think its not a safe one for you, Coz your phone is a3335? Right? If so, original ruu flashing may cause problems with network( called as radio problems), so you can use custom/ safe ruu, instead. Which contains no radio image, check " complete wildfire index" else go for custom os like cm7.
But before all you should mention what you need.
1) r u trying to put custom os, or do you need original os?
2) do you want your phone to be a true android gadget, or just normal phone which is provided by HTC?
3) what kind of user r u? Normal user or a tech junky?
4) r u satisfied with android 2.2 or need 2.3?
Get us the answers, along with your current boot menu( where you find recovery option) details. So that we can help you properly.
That's all dude. Its 2.30 am here in India, so i should wish myself a good night, swtdrmz. Cu ltr.

Oops. Completely missed that point, sorry.
But since the phone is S-OFF one can just flash the system.img and boot.img alone from wwe ruu to remove the carrier bloat and to continue on the HTC stock rom (only if u wish to). Same pc49img process here but with only system.img and boot.img along with android-info.txt .

now im lost where do i fine the right one to use do you know how many there are out there this phone is doing my head in i try to flash the system.img and the boot.img and a stock rom and still nothing im ready to give up to be honest
Have you installed clockwork mod recovery? If not do it first. Use fastboot flash from windows or linux, then download latest cyanogen mod nightly and put it in your sd. Then use install zip option from cwm recovery to install cm7. Done. Its what you want. No radio harm will be done unless you flash a radio using any methods.
All info will be available on thread" complete wild fire index" in this forum. Tools, recovery, how to, rom, and every thing else are available in that thread.

No expert but looks like you have an empty sdcard and system.I think you need to get a rom onto your sdcard (cm7 good choice) and then through recovery apply the rom. Zip and reboot after. DONT DO A WIPE.the telestra screen is just a splash screen which will always load before the system searches for data to load, next would be boot loading screen but yours by the looks and sounds of things does not achieve!! Probably cos its not present due to not having a rom installed.hope I helped if not best of luck. Members are very helpful here and cos you can access hboot I am 99% sure this will be fixed for you. i have a rom on my sd card but the thing keeps saying FAILED? NO SUCH FILE FOUND ?
Download this: http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
Enter HBOOT.
Wait until it finishes trying to load a zip file.
Choose FASTBOOT to enter FASTBOOT USB mode.
Run the downloaded file.
It should then install the original HTC rom.
Or maybe try PC49IMG method if you haven't already?
On your PC click start and type in the search box %temp%,
Keep your eye on this folder and doubleclick your ruu, a new folder should appear in temp folder,
Open it and search for rom.zip,
Copy it to your desktop and rename it to PC49IMG.zip then copy to your SD card and boot into hboot, it should find the zip and install.

@scratches post. I couldn't remember the method but that's exactly how I got my ruu to install so I could revolutionize.

i have done that already still no go
I got my sisters Wildfire here and it's stuck in a bootloop.
It is NOT rooted, has no S-Off and so on.
It has the stock rom.
It didn't run fluently, so I just rebooted it. But since then it doesn't boot.
Tried taking out battery, putting it back in, no success.
Tried taking out SD-Card. no success.
Then I booted into Bootloader (Vol + Power down).

All I get to choose is Fastboot, Recovery, Clear storage and Sim-lock.
Recovery turns out to be nothing, I can't get to it. Might be, because there is no CWM on it.
I was lucky to be able to root and s-off my DHD, so I don't have any idea, how to fix this problem with the Wildfire.
Any suggestions how to solve this little problem?
Thanks in advance
Which method u adopted for rooting....try revolutionary method and u will be s-on....bt ur mobile doesn't on....try to intall ruu which can be downloaded from shipped-roms.com,download wwe version file....run it,it will install stock rom again, then enable debugging mode, goto revolutionary.io fill the form and copy generated alphanumeric code carefully and download the file run it and u will get s-on....

Thanks, but actually I neither want root nor s-off on it...I just want to get this smartphone to boot again...I'll try to get the RUU on it, like you suggested

And if, what to do next with it?
Thanks in advance
- Extract the Rom.zip from the RUU you listed. Procedure here:
http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
- Rename this zip to PC49IMG.zip
- Place this on the root of the sd card
- Reboot in HBoot mode, the phone will detect the file and will attempt to install. Select Yes and let it proceed.
Thanks, I'll do that when I'm done in University :-D
Just so I have more opportunities in case this happens again.
Could you give me a link to a instruction how to root and s-off?
This would help
And, just in case, which do you think is the best Custom Rom for the Wildfire?
You can use Revolutionary to get S-OFF and Clockworkmod Recovery. Guide here:
http://joel5121.blogspot.com/2011/06/wildfire-22-root-tutorial.html
The only thing that has changed is AlphaRev's Website. The new address is revolutionary.io. Everything else remains the same. Although, you will need a booting device to get it to work.
Lastly, ROM choice depends on whether one would like to keep HTC Sense or not. If not, then I would go with Cyanogenmod / Oxygen (Two ROMs I am pretty sure are available for the DHD as well). And, if you would like to keep HTC Sense, then the current favorites are DK Custom ROM and RemPuzzleROM.
Complete Listing available in the Index Thread linked in my Sig.
Good Luck
I only want to flash a ROM on the Wildfire. My dhd runs on arhd and I won't change that well, unless there's a newer version of arhd
Anyways, what is the best sense ROM
for the Wildfire? Should run smooth but stable and fast. And of course it should've good battery life

I'm stuck myself. Wildfire is working again, but neither can I root nor can I make S-OFF.
On AlphaRevX it "sends in Caroline" and "Caroline" comes out with an error report
However, USB-Debugging was turned on, SD Card active, connected to pc, but "only charge"...
That far for S-Off...
Then I'm trying unrevoked. Works so far, until the Wildifre is in the bootloader. Unrevoked tells me, it's waiting for bootloader. When I choose Fastboot on the device, unrevoked works on and tells me "Waiting for HBOOT to be ready..."
Nothing happens after that. If I choose Bootloader on the device, unrevoked tells me, that it has lost connection to the phone.
Then I tried Gingerbreak. Gingerbreak works, reboots the phone, I check for SU and can't find it. So I guess it's not rooted then :-/
Any suggestions?
Your only (free) option is Revolutionary on Wildfire's with official 2.2.1 and HBoot 1.01.x. Any other method (Unrevoked, Gingerbreak, SuperOneClick etc) will not work and will result in failure. Errors on Revolutionary can usually be treated EXCEPT when it says "Not writing bad block at mtd 0x00000", in which case, there are bad blocks on the NAND memory, and there is no fix yet.
The paid option is to find a store with an XTC Clip hardware box, which can S-OFF the Wildfire as well. They will charge you a 1-time fee for using it.

So since this is exactly the fault that is displayed, there is nothing I can do...
But this other tool for s-off ain't working either. If I'd have at least s-off...in this tutorials I first make s-off and afterwards there is a zip archive which will give me SU. Can I install cwm without Root? I'd really like to flash cyanogen...

No, unfortunately, as I stated in my previous post, you cannot.
The best option will be revolutionary but solve ur first problem and then move on to this...we r always here....
