Ok so I'm about to take on the LCD replacement repair and was wondering since I'm already doing a tear down is it possible to order a new housing?
I was thinking of getting the white housing and changing everything.
Anyone know of a good place to order parts?

There is a shop in the UK, I think, that sell parts, not sure if that is worth it for you being in North America.
If I find the link I will post it. I know I have seen it on this forum.
Here is the link:
http://www.rwsnextg.co.uk/dell-streak-repair.php
I have a guy in Philly that supplies the LCDs to me as I break them. I can give you his number if you want to see about the part.
Just send an instant message to me.
Head on over to the site cnn.cn, its a chinese company that provides cell phoen parts, i've had a lot of luck with them on hard to find hardware, shoot them an email and see if they can get it for you. Currently they only have the LCD for the streak http://cnn.cn/shop/dell-streak-c-1221_1222.html

Hi guys I haven't been able to find any information about this on the Sony site, google, or on here.
My mate dropped his IPhone onto my Xperia Play my screen is demolished (very poorly built imo).
Would love to repair or replace the screen rather then buying a new unit any help would be greatly appreciated.
..... Poorly made??? There are a lot of people with broken iphone screens from dropping too.. What were you expecting? Titanium screens? There are second hand mobile phone stores that repairs screens.

I'm in Melbourne,
Been ringing a few places none of them have anything for the Xperia Play.
Do sony have any repair centres?
A few digitisers listed on ebay if you want to diy
Get your m8 to fix it, as its his fault I'm guessing :-?
Yeah he'll be paying for it, but still trying to locate how and where to fix.
I think if I tried diy I'll end up with alot more broken then just the screen.
What about posting it to Sony for a fix ?

That sucks man, I have repaired many screens on phones, I own a play and looking at deconstruction its easier then a HD2... Buy a digitiser off ebay and DIY if you fail you could post it to me in Canberra and ill finish the job.
to DIY it appears to remove screws from back around battery etc, split that part, remove ribbons and main board, remove screen connector ribbon.
disconnect Rail screws
4 screws on back of screen, remove these split screen open.
I have just smashed my screen here on my XP in the UK. Not happy. Need somewhere to fix it. Don't fancy taking it apart.
Sony's "official" repair place in Melbourne is Fonebiz.
Took me about 20 rings before anyone answered the phone, they are unsure if they can replace/fix it or when they will have stock to do so, they are unsure of the price but they want 30 upfront for something that isnt guaranteed and I'll have the option to go through with it once they complete the "quote".
Not really happy with the above, even though I'm not going to be paying for the repair as it was my mate that smashed my screen, I was hoping for something more "official" then some random mobile phone repair company.

Hi all,
Recently I dropped my Vega and broke the glass and digitizer.
Curry's have told me that it wouldn't be economical to repair & charged me £20 for the pleasure.
I have also gotten various different quotes from other quite frankly dubious companies online all above £180.
So I have come to the decision that it would be a lot more risk free to just buy another one.
I'd like to know if anyone knows a good place to sell my broken Vega for parts? Everything else is tested and working fine on it. I would stick it on eBay but I'm not really sure what a fair price would be.
If anyone could offer advice I would greatly appreciate it if I can reclaim any of my money back.
Thanks very much
Simon
Where do you plan on purchasing a replacement mate?
I've been desperately trying to get a hold of a new one for two weeks now!
Everywhere is out of stock. I've tried every Currys and PC World in the North East and online, they're all gone.
Any ideas?
I'd like to steer clear of eBay as nobody will guarantee a 100% scratch free screen.

You tried eBay? I have seen digitizers on sale there before. Sometimes there are broken phones as well you may be able to pull the digitizer off.
Also try Craigslist as well. Sometimes I see ads for broken phone or phones for parts as well.
I suggest finding one with a bad esn and then either repair the damage or meid

Not at a computer but just go to ebay or amazon and search "htc g2 flex"
You'll find a few hits , may consider getting the whole chasis in the sense that it usualy only a few bucks more and you don't have to reglue the flex into the chasis

And may I ask, where did you get the tools from, and was it hard to do? Thanks
Those are both the same and yes the right one. Tools needed are a torx # 5 I think and a small phillips screwdriver. And I do this stuff a lot so I just had them. I'm sure you can find them any where locally. Its easy if you do this stuff a lot if not take your time and its not bad, just try and find a you tube video or something and pay close attention to what your doing

Okay I've been emailing a (very nice) HTC support thingy, and here's the reply:
Thank you for your reply.
I am sorry that your device is not in a perfect condition at this time. I would like to arrange for your phone to be repaired in our UK Repair Centre. Please read the following instructions carefully. By proceeding with the repair you agree to the terms and conditions of the repair service.
During repair, we will install the latest software as part of the diagnosis and testing. All the data from the phone will be lost, except for data stored on the SD card, SIM card, or online services, if applicable. If this is possible please check our online Help pages on how to backup your data.
Do not send the SD Memory Card, SIM Card, Battery, Back covers and other accessory items included or not in the product's box. All we need is the bare device. We can’t be held liable for any of these being sent in as they won’t be returned.
Package the device as you would like to receive it. In a good strong box with plenty of padding. You can use the original box, but it will not be returned to you. This information overrules the one in the repair tick-sheet instructions.
Should our engineers determine that the fault you are experiencing is caused by physical damage, wear and tear or illegal software, it will not be covered by warranty. Conditions of warranty also include warranty length terms from date of purchase. The repair will be chargeable and we will send you a quote. Should you not wish to pay that quote, there will be an approximate £25 diagnosis, shipping and handling fee to have the device returned to you and not repaired.
Liquid-damaged devices are returned immediately, unrepaired and without charge as they are beyond economic repair.
Your repair will take approximately 5 working days from when it arrives at the HTC Repair Centre and it's subject to parts availability.
So what do you think, send it to them (and how much you think it would cost? I've had it for a year & 2 months) , repair it myself or send it to a cheapo place? Thanks!

So, it happened to me. Just my luck.
Was at university walking and the phone slipped from my hand onto the floor. It seemed to have survived that fairly well. Then it slid off the stairs (no barrier at the edge of the staircase going up my university) and fell about 8-10 feet onto the stair case below. Screen is ruined and unresponsive.
The phone is rooted and has an unlocked bootloader so I know this voids the warranty but I can lock the bootloader again and flash the phone back to the stock rom via cwm.
I bought the phone from Carphone Warehouse for £400 back in December because I couldn't wait and now I'm left with a brick. I need a phone to handle uni life and contact my fianceé in the States. I don't really want to have to spend money I don't have on a replacement N4 so is there anything I can do guys?
Any help at all will be extremely appreciated.
(I'd post a link to an image of the screen but cannot do so yet).
Thanks
Sorry to hear that, however the only option I think would've been better if you had phone insurance and it would replace your damaged phone and it would cost like 5 pounds a month. On the other hand maybe you can send it to Carphonewarehouse and see what the estimate is to get it repaired. Don't think rooted or not makes much difference in this situation.
Anyway good luck and hope you find some solution

Ouch, nightmare...
The only cheap way is to repair it yourself. If the mainboard is ok, get a new front and back panel. From the teardown I've seen of the Nexus 4, it doesn't seem that difficult. I'm sure there is a vid on youtube you can use as guide. If you can't do it yourself, a new phone seems to be the only option. At least it will be cheaper this time... Did you have a case on it when it dropped?

See that seems doable but the only problem is is the (is it aluminium?) that goes around the phone also got dented as it fell. This is even worse considering I actually DID have a case on it. I was using the Ringke Slim case. If anybody is using this case I highly recommend them to rethink their purchase because even though the phone hit the floor side on, it didn't protect it. Imagine if it hit face down. I have another generic 'S' silicone case from eBay and that would have done a far better job at protecting the sides. Shoulda, woulda, coulda eh?
Im wondering if LG's manufacture warranty will work in my favour at all? I just don't have the funds to replace the phone comfortably but that's the only option I see unfortunately.
I don't think you'll have any luck with warranty repair. Sorry about your phone though.

At that point Id just order another phone and sell the first for parts.

Sell the phone for parts? How would that work? Im not very savvy with this side of phones. Do I sell the phone in its entirety to a company who buys things like that? Sell on eBay for really cheap trying to get whatever I can get?

Check their website there's a link from there. Give them a call register the phone with them log on to their website and create a claim. Then they ask you to send the phone in. Note: do everything recorded del. It costs £50 excess they turned mine around in under two weeks from start to finish

I disagree. The only cheap way to do it is via insurance, 50 quid excess or whatever is a lot cheaper than the 150 pound screen is going to cost.
