You tried eBay? I have seen digitizers on sale there before. Sometimes there are broken phones as well you may be able to pull the digitizer off.
Also try Craigslist as well. Sometimes I see ads for broken phone or phones for parts as well.

I suggest finding one with a bad esn and then either repair the damage or meid

Cracked screen today...Repair?

Had a hard case, reallook protector and it was in my pocket while taking an old boiler out of house and unloading new one of truck (250lbs) so must have did it then.
Anywhere, anyone online or near Philadelphia that does repair? Saw one ad on craigslist, called and they said $125. Insurance is $130.

I would do an insurance claim compare to having some random guy have your phone.
If you have the will
Get on Craigslist and look locally and then look in the bigger cities (you're back east) NYC Boston or alike. Type in cellphone IPhone repairs..... This will bring up a bunch of people who do repairs. IT ALSO brings up a bunch of suppliers of parts. Those I-Phone suppliers also carry other phones parts for like HD2 G1 and others. Look around and find the suppliers cost for the parts you are looking for (in your case the glass) Depending on the price I would then assess if I want to risk screwing with the repair.
In my case, I did repair my IPhone glass myself (when i had the phone) and I paid 28 bucks for the parts and took about 1.5-2 hrs to do the repair. The actual work was easy but, being the first time I ever tried working on a cell phone I went slow. if you are a techie it is not all that hard............ but that is up to you
BTW.......... never work on buildings, const, or anything like that with a cellphone on your person..........bad combo
Good luck
Same problem here. Yet i have repair experience. Is the glass really separate from the digitizer? Many are glued together, you don't want that mess.
I have found a US company supplier on FeeBay for $78.00 for glass and digitizer. I can do the repair save $45.00. But my dealings with third party insurance companies in the past has been lousy and long. Will Tmobile's be better? Doubt it.
What to do? Advice welcome, will help thread too...

I repaired my own myself and got the screen/digitizer from here:
globaldirectparts.com/product-p/smsng6085995.htm
the price has gone up from when i bought mine ($65).
whatever you do, DON'T buy from Skystartrade. See: globaldirectparts.com/QUALITY-ASSURANCE-s/5411.htm and scroll down to the part about skystartrade (they've since changed their name to gounlock.com)
I had a similarly bad experience and had to end up going to paypal to get my money back.
Fool, if you paid for insurance, use it! Call them up and *tell* them, to send you a new phone. Be persistent if they screwing around, escalate to a supervisor, or just wait and call back and get another person.
Only reason I'm hesitant about new over repair is, a. Getting hardware locked phone and also have to reroot, do rom, all apps, etc.

[Q] Best place to sell the Vega for parts?

Hi all,
Recently I dropped my Vega and broke the glass and digitizer.
Curry's have told me that it wouldn't be economical to repair & charged me £20 for the pleasure.
I have also gotten various different quotes from other quite frankly dubious companies online all above £180.
So I have come to the decision that it would be a lot more risk free to just buy another one.
I'd like to know if anyone knows a good place to sell my broken Vega for parts? Everything else is tested and working fine on it. I would stick it on eBay but I'm not really sure what a fair price would be.
If anyone could offer advice I would greatly appreciate it if I can reclaim any of my money back.
Thanks very much
Simon
Where do you plan on purchasing a replacement mate?
I've been desperately trying to get a hold of a new one for two weeks now!
Everywhere is out of stock. I've tried every Currys and PC World in the North East and online, they're all gone.
Any ideas?
I'd like to steer clear of eBay as nobody will guarantee a 100% scratch free screen.

Could try gumtree I got one two months old with receipt and case for 160 pound. Seen one go for 90 pound. They don't seem to sell very well second hand so even month old listings and they still have it forsale and drop the price.

Thanks, I'll take a look.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, just thought I'd ask as you mentioned that you were going to get a new one.

Cracked Evo Screen

So yesterday at school, my friend bumped my arm by accident and my baby jumped out of my hands and then fell straight down on the screen. I watched the whole scene in slow motion . I had the phone without a case, because I like my phone naked, so even though this may be foolish, its just the way I like it.
I am aware that there are other threads about getting the phone screen repaired, but my situation is different. I know some people say to just buy a repair kit online for $20 and just do it yourself, but I had an online chat with sprint and the customer service rep told me that if I went to my local repair shop, they would charge me $35 for a new screen, and that if I contacted sprint they would reimburse me because I was a loyal customer.
Just in case of this being false, I took a screen shot of the chat. So today I went to the store, and they straight out told me that they do no do repairs, and that I could file a claim and pay $100 for a new phone. But I'm not interested in paying $100 for a phone that is 14 months old. So I was wondering is this just a situation at this store, or do all sprint stores reject cracked screen repairs. If the later is true than I will just need to buy the repair kit.
Thanks
Just means they don't do repairs there. Only certain stores have techs on site. Call Sprint and tell them you need repairs and ask what the closest repair center is from you.
However I have heard that sprint is no longer repairing screens. I don't know though.

Funny thing is, the sprint customer service rep clearly told me to go to the location I went to, and I went on the sprint site and looked at the list of locations and the location I went to was marked as a repair center.
And I was wondering about that, I hope not
Ehh I wouldn't bother with sprint and whatnot. If your LCD still lights up and colors are fine then you just need a new digitizer which last I saw I think you can get them for $10 just look up the evo teardown (ifixit.com) and look for the link for the digitizer or just google evo digitizer and you will see it. Really easy to replace. The ease of replacing and the cheep price is what made me decide to go case/screen protector less

I have purchase 2 assembled sets for $50 shipped. New digitizer, LCD, and frame. Preassembled. Couldn't get easier. My sister in laws Evo was ran over multiple times and I was able to save it.
That's the pic she sent...
After I repaired it I ruu it to OEM. It has a 2000mah battery and just been on my wifi. I think I had a 160 hour up and a 2 hour awake time lol

Okay, I guess I will do it my self. I just went looking on ifixit.com and couldn't find evo digitizer, looks like they were just selling parts for apple products. Also what should I look for when, trying to find a good quality digitizer. Do they sell name brand ones? Thanks
I bought my digitizer off Amazon for like $25. Just have to make sure the one you get is the one for your EVO. (Narrow and wide cable ribbon connectors). Be warned though, the glass doesn't pop out as easily as some of those videos make it seem. I had to pry mine out and messed up the LCD in the process.

I did this the first time. Before you remove the digitizer take a hair drier and heat up the digitizer to loosen the adhesive. And if u buy just that part do not try to remove the inside layer of film from the new digitizer....complete fail
I bought an Evo off of Craigslist, and dropped it less than 24 hours later. I tried to replace the screen with a new one, and completed messed my phone up. I took it like that, with an unscratched screen that wouldn't actually work, to a Sprint repair center. In two days they gave me a replacement for $35. Your mileage may vary, but I basically got a new phone for $135, including the original phone cost. So psyched!

I was told it was only $35 and then was told at the store that they stopped doing screen repairs. Your lucky, and when did this happen?
OP. What do you mean your baby fell on the screen? Girlfriend or actual baby?

Haha. I was saying that my baby(my evo) fell out of my hands and went straight down landing on the screen. Meaning it didn't fall on the back or the side but straight down on the front.
Call it in as stolen. I broke my screen. Sprint said call the insurance. Before I did I sold it on Cl for 150. Paid the 100 deductible and had a brand new EVO in box in less than a day. Sell it as a black listed phone. For cricket.

No what's fraudulent is that sprint is supposed to cover it, but they won't. Fight the system make it work for you.

This.
I do courtesy repairs all the time if the customer has never had one before. We have some that try to be sneaky, but a quick check reveals all. Pretty women sometimes get a second repair.

Thanks, I guess I will bring it to a more (corporate) location, when I have time. Even though the place I went to was listed as a ready now sprint store, I don't thing they actually had a repair center because they were a reseller, but sprint branded.

Can't argue with you on that one. If the other location won't fix it this will be an option.

Does anyone have a broken digitizer lying around?

Hey there fellas,
So my brother's atrix lcd recently died, so I bought a replacement. Must've not been my best that day, because, while disassembling, I severed his digitizer cable! I was thinking it might be replaceable, but no-one sells the cable online. So if any of you happened to have a broken digitizer with an intact cable lying around, and is in the mood of helping a fellow atrix owner, I'd gladly pay the postage for you to send it my way I live in Portugal.
Also, feel free to discuss the feasibility of this endeavor
Cheers!

[Q] Best way to repair water damaged mic?

Unexpectedly got soaked with seawater on vacation with my nexus in my pocket. First of all, out of all of us two cameras, a Samsung midrange android phone, and one of those brick like old Nokia phones all were casualties - only my nexus 4 survived. I think that is pretty impressive.
anyway, it didn't make it through unscathed. The mic does not work and also the gyroscope is pretty wonky. everything else appears intact.
as this was water damage I'm assuming no warranty will cover it. my question is what's the best option at this point and how much is it going to cost?
send it to Google / LG for repair? Try one of these cell phone stores that claim they can repair broken phones? Try and find the part and fix it myself? or just buy a new phone? what's going to be the cheapest?
I would recommend to sell it. The phone is water damaged. Even if you send it to LG or take it to shop to repair mic or gyroscope; other problems will appear sooner or later.

Yep, I'd say get a little bit more money and just get a new one. Keep the old one as a paperweight or something. hahaha

I figured that's probably the best option. Is there no way to tinker around and try and replace the mic with parts that are available on eBay or something until I get together enough cash for another nexus?

There is. Just follow
and replace as necessary. Not sure how long the parts will last. There is a chance that the motherboard would just burn off one day.
My mic has failed too (as well as a portion of my digitizer ugh) and I have decided to order a mic from ebay for $15, I've already opened the N4 up and its super easy to replace so I would say replace it and while your in there look for any corrosion (will look white and chalky) and clean it off with a q-tip and 99% isopropyl alcohol
Water damaged MIC, ordered replacement usb charge port from ebay for £12. Using the video posted, I was able to successfully replaced my fault MIC, phone is working as per normal.
I ordered one from eBay but it looks different from the original. You guys think I should install or send it back? This one has two antenna connections but the original only has one.
