No, its not possible in 2.1. Its not a kernal issue, its an android issue.

Upgrade to 2.2, most 2.2 roms here are complete.
So you can experience a faster X10, and flash.
Believe it or not but it is possible. But only for sense ROMs or the ROMs that have flash lite(like HTC Desire had in 2.1). Not possible for X10 though.
flash 10.1 installs in 2.1 ROMs but doesn't seem to function fully if at all but worth a try. Skyfire will allow you to view flash videos tho.

Does not work because it uses something in the WebKIT that is not present in any 2.1 Android devices Sony Ericsson has.
This will not work for X10. Just get a custom 2.2.1 firmware or wait for 2.3.3 will come out on X10.

it doesn't work for anyone read the comments even.....
flash is not supported on 2.1, it's as simple as that.
Dont' believe me? try it on any phone running 2.1 and then go to newgrounds.com
I believe you and in fact already stated that it installs but doesn't seem to work. I haven't used a 2.1 ROM in a long while so I'm not trying to use it. Skyfire will allow 2.1 users to view flash videos thru their browser tho because it doesn't actually use flash but their own video decoder. Skyfire will not give you the full web browsing capability of flash tho so if you if you want it then upgrade.

It works on some HTC devices because they had android.webkit.permission.PLUGIN in the browser. But Sony Ericsson didn't have this, that's why it doesn't work on X10's / Xperia Series running 2.1.
And as you can read in my previous post, I never said it did work!!

I was responding to whoever posted that link, and you because you were saying it wouldn't work on any se devices, i was simply stating it just doesn't work in general

yeah ive seen that but mine is unlocked version its not virgin. so is it still the same date?
wildfire will not have froyo update. said on the site gizmodo
Yes it will have it.
Look at the Wildfire specification on China HTC site. I can't attach links to other pages.
HTC Spain confirm that we will have 2.2 update late september.
gizmodo are just fags! they are probably apple spys! Oo
WE WILL HAVE FROYO! or ill prosecute google for being ignorent
But i read that Hero can handle Flash 10.1 and it has ARM v6 too
Froyo without flash it's ok for me..
Apps to sd by native and more speed (by 4-5 times) are more important for me.
I agree completly with that.
I realy hope that we will get froyo during the following 10 days...
Can it be rooted?
There are yet no methods for 2.3 rooting because the only device with 2.3 on the market right now is Nexus S which can be "rooted" using oem unlock command.
I am sure it will be in due time

I just recieved my Arc, tried zRoot and SuperOneclick, nothing able to root it.
Tested speed, Q total: 1663, CPU over 2000. This is great, flash works great, HD PLAYER is excellent, demo HD video play so smoothly on both phone and DEMO TV.
So far, I don't see need of root.
Cheers

There is no Mediascape any more.
its leaked from a website in mainland china
i cant tell if its true or not

according to the source
camera ui is the same as 2.1
not as smooth as arc
neocore not exceeding 30fps
He predicts that this rom will be released soon as there re not many bugs

X10's 2.3.3 software will be released shortly, it is currently being tested.
The firmware is from Arc and Neo, and there are not many bugs, which would mean they could soon release the update.
There are something that we observed:
1. The camera interface is the same as we see on our X10s (referring to the 2.1 update)
2. The user experience is not as smooth as the Arc, which (hopefully) SE would enhance the smoothness of the firmware.
3. The 3D performance is not as good, the FPS is does not go over 30 in Neocore (30fps limit in our kernal)
PS:
1. Forgot to test how many touches are detected.
2. There is not enough time for writer to test, we need to test (play with it) for a while.
3 and 4 are irrelevant to what we are worrying about
5. The writer does not know how to extract the rom, and therefore would not be providing it.

seems like someone can't really understand what is he reading. we're not getting the update, and it's not about google giving update, it's about google forcing these companies to update their phones. but only NEW PHONES (read that text carefully, it's written down there), phones that have been just released, and phones that will be released in future. it's not working backwards, older phones ain't getting upgrades. sorry to turn your dreams into a dust. just a little advice - read the whole text, not just the heading, before you start a thread like this - you made ppl excited for no reason. now i have to make their joy go away

if we can't update our phone can undo and denigrate the f**ckin SE instead ;
I'm happy with custom roms, cuz everything works fine. We don't need SE to update it
X8 is excellent phone.
And, to substantiate my statement as soon as our devs crack bootloader and fully working Gingerbread is made this phone will get even better. Worth waitng.
Times are tough and a lot of us just can't affort better phone.
P.S.: @as-mario you're troller... read twice before you post... think before you blink!
I have already sent several messages to SE Brazil and the answer is always the same:
"The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 will not be updated because it does not meet the requisites of Android 2.3" - or nearly so, but always the same direction of response -> A short NO!
Perhaps with support from Google the story will change, because only the X10 received the upgrade to 2.3 from Sony Ericsson and many users still use their custom ROMS ...

Me too....few bugs in many cases, but smoothless !
We should sent emails to GooGle android center about our problem. Google can force SE to update our phone. We can make petition to google. We can make petition at least for unlocking bootloader.
Who don't think it's a great idea?

Just a thought that was in my head. The new official gingerbread rom should be coming out in august so I was wondering who is going to upgrade or stay on their custom rom.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Im sure people will stay on custom roms knowing they dont have to deal with bloatware apps and other useless nonsense that SE provides. Saying this i believe many files will be pulled from the generic 2.3 to be used in the ROMs.
No. Will stay with froyo
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes, just to try it out. I use a Custom ROM but there are many things that are broken sometimes, not supported, or flat out not working. Once the official 2.3 is out I am sure those guys will make their own custom ROMs much better.
LOLwat? After all the *****ing SE received, people better upgrade, otherwise they'll send a hitman to off you.
gingerbread
I sure will upgrade to 2.3 official
Will update right away when SE releases it.
I will update to officiell 2.3 and stay there because then i have everything i want
