I believe you need a rom in the phone to get it to charge. New batteries normally do not come charged. You can get a battery charger from ebay for only a few dollars ( I just found one for $3.99).
Or you could find someone with the same phone and ask them to charge your battery, so that you can flash again...
Thanks for the informations, I think I have to find my friend to chanrge the battery for me, so does any HTC phone say Prophet and Hermes use the same battery model as Wizard??

have you checked that your backup battery, the one built into the phone is fully charged before you take out the battery. (check in your settings menu under power)
i have replaced mine from a totaly broken xda (picked it up on ebay) as mine had failed and would no longer hold a charge for more than a few seconds.
i also had major probs with a hi powered battery it kept failing for some reason, totaly losing charge in a mater of hours on standby and this kept hard resetting my phone. so i no longer use the larger batteries.
The backup battery is fully charged
After have taking off the main battery about five minutes and putting on a fully charged one the back up battery might shows the power percentages about 25%.But It almost takes me about 30 seconds to change a another new battery,it's not possible the backup power's problem. I change battery exactly the same way when I do it.That's just too weird it sometimes hard reset and sometimes just doesn't.

The backup battery is fully charged even after having take off the main battery for three minutes!so there is nothing to do with the backup power.
I change battery exactly the same way everytime. Why just sometimes it gets hard restted and sometimes it doesn't.It makes me wonder.
Is this eda ii a broken one?Maybe I should turn it back to the repaireman's house for a few weeks?you know how bad China's services are ,they never do things that customers need.
Thanks your heartkinded help anyway

Thanks the same way though your idea seems not where the problem at.
like i mentioned it could just be because one of your batteries has an intermitant fail, as i said i had the same problem with a hi capacity battery, it somtime hard reset my phone for no reason.
just try buying a couple of new batteries, or lable your batteries and see if its only on one of them that the HR occurs.
My 2 months old Touch HD doesn't charge the battery anymore.
If i plug the power cord, the notification led turns red for 5-7 sec., then it turns off, and the battery meter shows no charging.
I can sync it with PC but runs again on battery, even the check box (under the power meter) is unchecked.
The only way to charge the battery, is to let the battery drains out (the phone turns itself off) and remove the battery from phone for few minutes.
I have the original ROM 1.57.831.1 (47324) WWE from 04/08/09 and i tried one hard reset ("clear storage" from settings).
Does anyone know how to fix this ?
I'm verry disappointed. Now it does'nt charge even i remove the battery.
I think i'll try the warranty service.
No other suggestions ?
Are you sure it is the problem of the HTC HD? I got hte same problem. But because I charged my second battery which was newly bought from the official website HTC UK. My original battery works well. So I returned my second battery.
Try another battery.

yep, same here...
my girlfriend and me, we own a HD, pretty much the same issue...
My device frist stated "unkown main battery status" and has been only willing to charge the battery while switched off and connected to PC (charger doesn't work).
My grilfriend's one now refuses to start at all.
One thing for sure - its not battery related since my fully recharged battery doesn't make her device starting.
I sometimes pulled out the battery without swichting the device off, or left it running for days before reseting it...i guess that might have triggered the problem...
gotta send it in, hopefully they don't mind my custom rom!

I had this problem to.... Change of USB cable did the trick! So.....it's possible that your USB mini cable is dead. Try another USB if you haven't tried it yet.
Thank you all.

I don't think it's the cable because i let the phone charging on my desk and suddenly, after few minutes (sometimes 1 min, sometimes 60 min) it stops charging (without touching/moving the cable),

Well, in your case, for sure its not battery related.
After i left the battery out of the phone for 6 hours, it start charging again for 45 min then, the notification led start blinking red and green. After 2 minutes, the led turns off and i started the phone with 40% battery life.
It's driving me crazy and i don't know what to think!
I start to believe it's a battery problem but i'll ask for service opinion too, since i payed a lot of money for this.
Solved
My handset was repaired in service.
The problem was hardware related, generated by malfunction of switching power alimentation mechanism to motherboard.
Hello guys,
I'm buying a new standard battery because my current one is going bad. Meanwhile, MAGLDR is known of not charging battery correctly while the phone is off. What should I do know since I heard that new battery must be charged first while the phone is off. Thanks.
The new battery will come with some charge in it. It will not be empty. Lithium batteries do not have 'memories', you do not need to give it a full charge to get the best performance out of it as you used to have to do in the old days. Google for Lithium battery information if you are unsure.
Don't worry about it
Insert the battery, boot into Android and charge it.
Afterthought...
If you are worried however. Just backup your build, flash Windows Mobile back on to the phone. Turn the phone off and charge it with the phone off. Then flash MAGLDR again and recover your backup build.
thanks man, I heard about that too but what makes me doubtful is if that's correct then why almost all phone manuals instruct us to charge the battery until full before turning phone on for the first time.

From personal experience I can say it's pointless to charge full while the phone is off.
All i do everytime is use the charge the battery came with untill the phone turns off by itself, then turn on and plug the charger for 16 hours.
If you do this - full cicle - several times in the begining, the battery is working perfectly.
This way the cells are loaded to the maximum in the begining and the battery is "conditioned"
the use of HD2 with Android is quite a different issue...
Dont know bout all builds(I have nexusHD2 1.9a) but I charged my battery after my phone went comatose-just connect the phone to power with battery and -then- turn it on.If that doesnt work you can always buy el cheapo charger from Ebay.
I bought new battery from ebay,which works great.10$(M | less)for battery+charger.
Cheers
damn, so many different thoughts about li-ion battery i don't know which is the best one.
anyone else? before i receive my new battery tomorrow
Hi, I've changed the screen of my phone 1 year ago, after that the battery started acting odd...
I tried the phone 6 month ago and at that time the battery was instantly dying after passing the 50% state.
Now, I can't even power on the device...
I tried to follow this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oATx6fO35tg but it didnt change a thing.
I still have that flashing red light when I try to charge the phone...
So Is my phone dead? Or do I just need to change the battery?
Thanks
Red light happened to me this morning. Woke up the phone was 100% and it died. Turning it back on nothing. Volume down + power button it showed red light. Last week I was at 40% before it shut down and battery was completely depleted for some reason. Other steps I did today was volume up + power button for a minute then charging/and or turning it on. Volume down + power button while held plugging the power cable in. Left it charging for an hour or so. I ended up just buying a batter in the afternoon, hoping it'll fix the problems.
Really don't know what else to do.

It's possible the cable got damaged when you switched everything over. A new battery might solve your problems. Just be careful with the cable ribbon.
I have the same problem the last few days.
I changed my screen about a month ago and the phone was working fine.
Now it instantly dies at random battery percentages and also goes nuts when I charge it, it might charge ok but it might not charge at all or show one minute 5% and the next 58% etc.
I actually remember dropping it a few days ago but I don't know if it has anything to do.
So what's the next move? should I buy a new battery or the problem is somewhere else?
I am also attaching a screenshot to see how crazy it goes in charging and battery drops.
I've bought a new battery for 15 bucks everything is well again

Where did you purchase your battery from? I bought one to fix my red light Nexus and while it now powers on, the battery was clearly used (sold as new) and it lasts maybe 5 hours in standby before dying completely.
