Well I don't know why but we are having a shortage in devs for the new xperia Arc.
The device is already unlocked for days but nobody is able till now to root it!
Who will be the savior of the Arc?
Please if you want to help, visit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035306
I can tell you why there is a shortage of developers.
The device has been out for about a month and costs $700 USD.
Not really in all markets, I got it for 570$ last week and its probably cheaper now

I may sell my X2 and buy motorola milestone couse i would like to try android.
but there comes a problem. used xperia X2 in my country costs from 300€ and up(around 370$ and up). but people expect a good phone for that kind of money not a phone that freezes while taking a video or even while closing tasks in task manager. SE realy relesed unfinished product on us.
So im asking you guys abouth your experiences with selling your X2. well probably if you sold your X2 you probably dont visit this part of XDA forums but i dont know where else to put the thread.
the thing is the X2 costs as a great phone does and Xperia X2 SHOULD be a great phone (on paper it is) but i real life it simply is not worth 500-600$ (price for new phone). Even Im not totaly satsfied with it and i got it for free.
shortly: your experiences with selling your x2, the problems with the buyers you sold it to... or maybe experiences of your friends if they were sold x2.
ty for your time.

For me, the X2 is just a worthless buy. It will be impossible to sell without a buyer complains.
So, I prefer to stay with it and store it on the garage once I get an iPhone 4. At lease, it will serve as replace phone if my iPhone fails in the future.
Trash it, or burn it and post the video on YouTube is also an option.
Cheers.
I would dare (despite for sure buyer will complain) - unfortunately nobody wants to buy this piece of ****. It was suposed to be a business phone but due to lack of bluetooth rSAP profile (which HTC and Nokia have for years) it can't pair with bluetooth premium car kits ... so it's not easy to find another idiot (like my self) who would eventually buy it...
honestly, sorry to hear you've had such a crappy experience with your phone, i personally love mine, but apparently the x2 is going to be "officially" released in america in Q3/Q4 when it does advertisements for the phone will start showing on tv's here and people will start looking on ebay and the internet to buy it and the value for it will start rising again, who knows, if yours is in good condition and you still have the box and stuff you might get close to full price for it.
so my advice, wait a little longer then sell it on ebay
Offer it on a 'geek' forum, so people know what they are buying and they are willing to use it as a toy, not a phone they could depend on
Well if you are lucky enough to live in the UK you can sell your X2 to CEX and they will buy it of you for £174

If any of you here are following the obnoxious quest for the US to receive the Dell Streak, you would know about the Texas Beta Streak.
I am considering purchasing one on eBay and my questions to fellow XDA-Members are:
- What do you think it is worth price wise currently?
- Do you think the American model will be different?
I do not believe the American model will be different in any way; hardware, software, nothing. Also on top of that, I am afraid the launch will consist of getting the Streak for free with a 2-year contract (I just want an unlocked one!). It will either be a disappoint or a celebration.
.
I've been considering much the same as you, even more so because I am in Canada and how I am going to go about getting even when launched might be a challenge. Of the ones I have watched go on ebay I'm pretty sure they been going 600+. Maybe even more on the ones not doing bidding but the offer option. I'd expect the hardware/software is going to be the exact same, if they software is different you'll be able to get the update, so I wouldn't be concerned about that.
The other thing that I've thought of holding me back is that the registration of the device might not be in my name and what issues might that cause for any warranty replacements.
The rumored launch is next week 14/15th, its already the weekend so nothing is shipping till at earliest the 12th, wait it out till then is what I am doing. If the Canada thing is an issue even after launch for myself then if anything ebay availability should be going up and price down so I'm holding out.
Got one...works great on TMO..having a blast with it!

Say what you want. I paid about $100 more than the supposed list. Beta or not....I have one now and am really liking it. Had it for about 2 weeks now. As far as Beta, this is only a beta for the US. This was released the same time the Final EU ones for O2 were released. With that said other than being on the US network, if these have bugs it is the same bugs the EU ones have.

I will be bidding on some on eBay soon!
I was just on att.com and just for kicks I wanted to see if they still sold the Vivaz (Of course they still do). Then we I was doing my search I saw they NO LONGER HAVE THE X10 on their website. I am really sad to see this but I guess its being replaced by the Play, Arc, Neo, and the Pro.

EOL was found out before Xmas but it was supposed to be a few more weeks, they just carried through early it seems. Now there are people who are wondering if they will ever release another branded update to the phone. Since it's EOL, it's unlikely. IMHO.
As for the new phones? Well they don't show up in any discussion of the 12 Android phone/devices they are supposed to carry in 2011, most of the slots are already filled with HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Dell products. They have not announced any SE phone agreements, there are no actual rumors of any phones on ATT only assumptions.
Rogers, and Verizon have been confirmed as Xperia Play carriers. Verizon is supposed to have some sort of exclusive on it for the short term. Maybe SE will also put it on Sprint. There may be official unlocked versions available from the Sony Style stores and unlocked Rogers on ebay as in the past.
Frankly, IMHO, Arc and Neo are meh phones hardware wise compared to some of the others announced. Play is the one phone that is truly different with the game controllers, but the question becomes 'How Much?' I'm not going to pay a few hundred for any of these, and I'm beholding to my X10 until 2012 like most ATT customers who got the X10a.
The NGP (now the PSP2) is not supposed to out-price a PS3 ($299). It's much more powerful than the Play and is supposed to have 3G. If you are really a gamer, wouldn't you rather have a PSP2? and a bluetooth headset?
I can't see the Play going unlocked for $500 or 600. It just doesn't have the kind of specs for that, and $250(?) on contract still seems pricey for something that doesn't have 500mb internal storage and LTE/HSPDA+ chips or a dual core.

I cant give you a credit mate ... Sorry,
I have my Play back now, but they repaired only the screen and not the other defects and the funny reason was that is "software manipulating"
How'd you end up with not just one, but two dead Plays?

It’s said that Samsung may be planning to launch a phone upgrade program starting with s7.
News Source
buyers will likely be the first to benefit from the program. What you guys think about this.
It could be a nice solution for those whom need the newest handset early, for development, testing, reviewing, etc.
For me, as a customer, I'll like to see how a handset works, in the market, as well as within the community of xda.
That's why I'm still on S4, since S5 and S6 wasn't that much of an "update".
So I will still by my phone a few months after launch...
Not few months bro . just one month remains . It is highly expected to be launched in march.
I do know that.
Back in the days I bought a Galaxy at launch, and never again will I buy a product, before I can see how the market and the xda embraces it.
Because what I got, was full of flaws and errors, and after 6 months, Cyanogenmod was the first ones out with a ROM that could be close to saving the phone from the trash bin.
So it's paying 30 bucks a month to rent the phone ? would never do that I plan to keep the note 4 for as long as I want to, yearly upgrades to me aren't worth it and I will never buy a phone on release day because chances are no root and custom ROM available. I don't know exactly how the Apple program works but if it's something similar us more like renting than owning the phone

Good luck, Samsung and most other OEMs have phones that are nearly impossible to get root on, let alone unlock the bootloader for custom ROMs. If you want any dev support, get a Nexus.

It's not for people like you who keep your phones for years. It's for people who get new phones every year, who otherwise would sell the phone to pay for the new one, and this makes it a lot easier to do so.

I know that but can people still root their phone, put custom roms on it? Because if not the phone really isn't their own one
I must say it's a decent option for those who would like a new phone every year..
What's the point of getting a new phone every year? Bragging rights? I update every 2 years (usually) because the advances in chipset manufacturing, battery, etc, can be seen and compared... Every year??? Good luck to those who love to trash their money in such way; no hate really!

This might sound silly to some people as they would like to own their phone , but if Samsung has a plan where - since it is a 24 month agreement - you can keep paying for an extra year to own it , this may be a great way to bypass AT&T and VZN locked bootloader issues assuming they come straight from Samsung .

Samsung needs the Cell-operators to be the customer front, so the phones, I believe, will also be locked to them.
So I guess this will be like we know it, only extra "perk" customer gets, are a new phone in the end of the contract. Then I'm sure it will be some "smart moves" to bind you for 24 new months...

Do you ever buy things that aren't pure necessity? Some like to spend money on cars, computers, photography, traveling, extravagant restaurants, etc. Seeing as how this is a phone developer/fan site, I think it's easy to see why many don't have a problem buying and selling phones once or more per year to get new ones.
Just like how you may have no problem buying an economy car and driving it into the ground, auto enthusiasts on auto forums likely buy expensive cars quite often.

I buy multiple devices every year, why? Simple answer is because i can and i enjoy having them. People tend to spend money on their hobbies, well if they can afford it.
No luck needed
