How can i get apps2sd to work on charnsingh_online's CyanogenMod 7.0.0 for HTCLEO from 14/04/11?
I installed Darktremor 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 via CWM but with no luck, any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.
The beta's have never worked properly for me. Try one of the slightly older, stable releases. I use DT's a2sd and it works great for me.
Dont forget after flashing it, to do in terminal emulator:
su (enter)
a2sd reinstall (enter)

Still no luck. I've got a ext4 partition maybe that's why. Should I change to a ext3?
It was working fine on the nightly (14/02/11).

I dunno really. I have an ext4 as well, and it works for me. I wish I had some other option for you to get it working, but I'm pretty much stumped at this point. It may be possible that your rom's not compatible with a2sd, but that's just a guess. I suppose you could still go with apps2sd from the market, I guess it's better than nothing

problem solved. For some reason it doesn't recognise ext4 partition. I had to format it in ext3.
Thanks

Hey guys, flashed my first Rom to the nexus last night. R22 with apps2sd.
Only question is, what do I need to do to get the apps to install to the SD? Is there a fool proof guide anywhere?
I have read in the odd post about partitioning your SD card etc.
Any help appreciated! I'm new to this.

here maybe this can help you. (by the way if you have AmonRa's recovery, you can create the partition by going to the "partition sdcard" section) that way is pretty easy

I do have that recovery. I'll take a look. Thanks.

no problem hope that helps
If I create the partition, should it then work as I installed r22 with app2sd. Well, that's what I downloaded anyway. Or will doing the above work anyway?
****, i'll just try it when I finish work! Lol
Most importantly, I don't need to re-install the Rom again do I?

Supposedly Amon_Ra up to v1.62 works...But if you're running 1.70, which was updated to compensate for CM5.0.6 A2SD changes, WON'T work with Desire!
Most importantly though is that partitioning your SD Card will COMPLETELY wipe it! So make sure you back it all up first.
The full-on wipe and not being able to find solid, dummy-proof instructions for setting up apps2sd for DesireROM has been what's keeping me from going back to Desire.
Anyone who has easily done it got it working?
A guide would be a good idea!

Actually, I'm using Amon RA's 1.70 recovery and I created an ext4 partition on my SD card, and App2SD works fine on CM 5.0.6+, Enom Official N1 1.9.2 (only tested this version), and Modaco Desire A22 (only tested this version)...
To get App2SD working on the Desire ROM (I used A22), I created an ext4 partition using Amon_RAs recovery 1.70 and then flashed the A22 release with Modaco additions and App2SD... App2SD works out of box...
Got it working. Cheers.

Hi all,
I am having some problems with widgets not loading in Elelinux 7.1.4 RC2 and i supouse they are related to integrated apps2sd. I have moved using adb theese applications to internal storage and I think they are working fine (at least in a couple of hours). Is there any other way to move apps from /sd-ext to /system or adb is just the way to not use apps2sd....
Many Thanks to all and sorry about my bad english..

I had this problem a while back when using a CM based rom. I think the best way to use apps2sd is to use the method where you partition your sd card. I think the rom your using has the ability to select the default location of installed apps somewhere in the settings. Dont let it force any apps to sd, choose what apps to move on your own. Hope this helps lol ive always used the partition sd card method
Doesn't work...
If you choose internal storage... it uses /data/app which a link to /sd-ext/app so it doesn't work ... If you choose SDcard I think it will use sdcard Froyo method...
Perdita2000
I always move apps to internal with root explorer. I have an ext partition so I move apps from data app to system app and this works fine for me. Don't forget to mount rw and it should work fine : )

Using root explorer to move apps method is same a using adb...

Of course, this is true. Just not as easy as with root explorer for notices : )

It's true, what I want ti know is if there is any settings for this??? Un fact I don't think so, but could be wrong...I hope

There's no settings for this. With ext partition all apps go to SD. It does feel like a conflict to me between froyo apps2SD and the ext method as the phone settings I always leave alone as I think they assume you have the froyo ( Google ) apps2SD. I may be wrong but my guess is a dev like elelinux could do a script but he is so busy producing great work : )

I use an ext4 extension all the time,
but the 3 latest builds I installed, each from different devs, which all support ext4, don't work with my card. before it worked so I don't get it.
Is there something I might overlook?
also, can I create a data.img? because I think that is build specific? I can't really find the answer I googled for a few days now but I'm not getting any solution atm.
Maybe you could try flashing DarkTremor's A2SD, and then in Android Terminal Emulator entering the command su, then a2sd reinstall, but doing so will format your ext4, wiping all your apps on the ext. Just a last resort idea, I'd try everything else first, and if you do this, don't use one of DarkTremor's newer beta A2SD scripts.

Some of you guys tried to install on CM dt a2sd 7 .1 RC1
Sent with my Wildfire s-off thank Alpharevx using XDA Premium App
I never needed a A2SD script on CM7, because I could move any app to the SD out of the box.
I did try, phone bootlooping afther applying the script (a2sd chashesd), needed nand restore
Are you asking how to use dt apps2sd on cm7. If yes,
First partition the sdcard to 3 partitions (ext , swap, fat). Ext will be for applications and its value depends on your usage. Swap can be 0 mb, 32 mb, or any little value. And the remaining will be fat.
Then install cm7. Then install the dt apps2sd script from recovery. That's all. And while restarting the phone, it may reboot couple of times which is normal and during which the installed apps will be transferred to SD-ext. And when memory card is removed from phone , a reboot may occur and u can see a clean cm7 rom then since almost all apps will be present on the memory card Ext partition. Ok that's about process.
And if you face any issues like bootlooping or any other issues, it must be with partitioning related. Sometimes partitioning with recovery gives successful apps2sd. And sometimes it won't. In any case you can use "gparted live cd" to partition sdcard. Be careful in messing up with your computer partitions when using gparted.
Good luck....

I tryd it to got it installed, checked the terminal got lots of errors. My phone became unstable so i reflashed the rom and deleted the patition.
I wish there is a full newbie guide to install this WITH screenshots.

I think the hardest part of this is creating the partitions correctly. If once it is created everything will be fine.
I too had the bootlooping issues while trying it for first time. At first I thought it was due to newer beta dt apps2sd script. But when I used gparted to create partitions, it worked fine for me even with newer beta. Ofcourse I had few unsuccessful attempts with gparted too in creating partitions.
Edit: forgot to say that I used dt apps2sd with cm7 nightly #115.

just to say:
I am using now ruymanica rom based on cm7,it has built in dt....just used command in terminal emulator and everything went fine

3) custom mtd partition with 170mb system and 30 mb cache.
4) data and app to sd ext4.
5) 8gb class 4 sd partitioned to 1gb ext4, 32mb swap, rest with fat32 with a large allocation value.
6) lot of paid app of course.
i need your suggestions ....
thanks in advance.

Do the mtd partition as you install 199, I got problems when a2sd was already installed, my mtd settings are 140 10, 10mb works fine for cache just make sure you have 06mountdl in your init.d folder otherwise you wont be able to download anything from the market above 10mb in size, if it isn't in the init.d folder you should find it in the cm zip.

dude i haven't heared of init.d folder. pls explain. well i surely plan to give 25 mb cache. if so do i need to care about init.d folder?
" just make sure you have 06mountdl in your init.d folder" dude i realy dont understand this.
" if it isn't in the init.d folder you should find it in the cm zip." and this too i dnt understand.
so i am a newbee to custom mtd partition. hence i need help about this. how should i need to use the script? i plan to flash it soon after i reboot to #199. only after that i will install my apps.and also gapps. so do i need to take nandroid backup? as i have backups of my app using titanium backup. so i will install every thing later.

Put the files needed on your sd card and write your settings in the txt file.
Run the first part of the mtd partition (wipe system/data/cache and install the first zip, bravo recovery or something like that, reboot your recovery from the advanced setting.
After doing the first step install your fresh copy of cm7 (instead of the nandroid backup) without wiping anything, then run the bravo boot zip and let it boot before installing anything else.
Files from the market, when first downloaded go to your /cache folder which if set to only 10mb would mean you can only download files below 10mb in size, the 06mountdl script deals with this by diverting the downloads elsewhere /data partition I think (not sure), the scripts are found in /system/etc/init.d after installing cyanogen if your cache size is small just check that folder (with root explorer) as a few times I have had to extract 06mountdl from the cm7 zip because it hasn't installed.
All that happens if 06mountdl isn't there is, when you go to the market you'll get an annoying message saying you don't have space left if the filesize of the app is larger than your cache.
Hope that made sense its 7am here.

thanks for your help dude. i will check it out. also do i need to flash dta2sd b4 or after i install apps. i had done it b4 i install apps in my current rom#177. do you have any suggestions?

Not entirely sure, I know some people say before but its never harmed me doing it after, you may aswell just run it straightaway though after your first reboot. Just in case.
I only use beta 3 as I had problems with beta 4, I don't think there's any noticeable changes between them tbh.

k. i will check it. and will post my experience. thank you dude. see you soon.

So i ended up in cm7#203. Stable. Fast, like it a lot.
The sad thing is i can't make custom mtd. Every time i ended in a non booting cm7 boot screen. Actually i had to flash froyo 2.2.1 ruu 2 times. Rooted, installed cwm. 2 times. Coz i had done like u said. Flashed custom mtd recovery with mtdpartmap.txt file containing 160 25. Then installed new rom with a reboot of recovery only.also flashed bravo boot. All as you said. Stuck in splash screen. So again tried to flash new rom and kernel from recovery. Still the same after flashing. So again ruu flash. Install custom cwm v5.xxx.partitioned SD. This time the SD got corrupted. So removed custom cwm and put original cwm using fastboot flash. Then partitioned with out errors. And installed cm7#203 from cwm, SD speed increase script,Jews ram script,2.6.35 kernal, latest radio, mediaprofile patch, gapps for 2.3.5 Andy. Rebooted after dalvic wipe. Itz running perfect. Installed s2e app . Moved app, private app, data, to ext.
I think that s2e is more efficient than dta2sd. It is faster, move almost every thing to ext. And internal memory consumption is quite low after app installations(when compared to dta2sd). Also booting and shut down are faster.
I will be watching for future errors. Thank you.
