Not a complaint or anything just curious if this is just my phone or if its just the phone itself. But whenever I turn the power on all I have to do is click the power button and it turns on whereas I'm used to holding it with previous phones. Seems like this could cause random boots when unwanted but I havent really ran into this problem and is there a fix for it?

Will only cause random boots if you keep your cell phone turned off.............which kind of defeats the purpose of having one. If the random boots bother you, take the battery out and your phone will not turn on!
On a serious note...............long press is only required for shut down features, when random shutdowns would really be an issue if not.

anyone experiencing this with your phones?
most of the time when i put my phone in my pocket, it just shuts down and i have to boot it back up.
happens like 10/15 times a day.
I have experienced some reboots (not so many like your shut downs), when some applications try to interact with the marketplace.
Your shutdowns, might have to do with a battery issue... Did you try any useful diagnostic test inside the MFG tools?
I've got them also....
Mostly when I've got the phone in my pocket, off course I don't see it shutdown. When i switch it on it doesn't simply resume, it boots. I guess it has something to do with too much force on a particular spot.
I've had it shutdown a few times when viewing pictures. Possibly a totally different issue, but nevertheless.
I have no solution (apart from keeping it less in my pocket).
Greetz,
Ronald
Happens sometimes for me. Maybe once a day or less.
me too. I think once a week or max 2 times a week.

i dont believe its a battery issue, because if its on a table then its fine and is turned on without any problems.
i guess the optimus 7 is not pocket friendly...
oddly i never had this issue back in nodo.
yep my op7 used to randomly shutdown more than 3 times per day after i flashed OPN rom this problem seem less.

I second this.....
I think it maybe has something to do with the option to switch on the phone when the camera-button is pressend. This button gets pressed very easy when you put your phone in your pocket....
Can this option be turned off?? The camera is able to switch on, even when the lockscreen is active.....
Grr,
Ronald

This option can be switched off.
I switched it off and will try if it helps.....
been shutting off like crazy today.
one point it didnt even boot until i removed the battery.
i really think the OP7 is not that great of a phone anymore.
Small update;
I haven't had a shutdown since I switched off the option to turn on the phone upon press off the camera button. I've done my best (put it in my pocket a lot etc). But couldn't manage it...
I would like to switch off the windows button also, but this isn't possible with simple settings...
Grr,
Ronald
Happens sometimes when I use 4th & Mayor.
i had this problem to, it would just shut down sometimes when it was in my pocket and sometimes just when i was using it. Usally after it had shut down on me my battery % went also bizar. This seems to be fixed with doing a normal reboot.
i m on the stock rom and did not rooted my phone.
For me the solution was to format my sd card.
Did this sunday and havent had a shut down now for two days.
if it comes back ill report it.
I am running for 6 and a half days without a reboot..... Still going strong....

tried it, but still restarts on me... :\
edit:
so i found how it restarts (at least i think).
if i hold the power button for a long time it will restart...
no need to even slide down to power off...
what's the point in slide down to power off if u can still turn it off by holding the power button...
Got an optimus 7 yesterday, had 3 restarts last night, I think its a Mango problem.
Small renewed update;
Shortly after my previous update the phone crashed (I was WIFI tethering, playing radio and then connected the USB cable so Zune started - this seems to much ).
Since this reboot I had some shutdowns again (2 I believe). All of these reboots after carrying the phone in my pocket and then sitting down (putting more mechanical force on the force).
I still think that the functions to switch on the phone upon pressing the 'windows' button and the camera button have something to do with the problem. I have switched off the camera button (in the camera settings), but when the windows button gets pressed and then (in the lockscreen) the camera button is pressed the phone still switches on in camera function.
Does anybody have a clue if it's possible to turn off these buttons for switching on the phone? These functions were introduced with the Mango update, as is the problem we're talking about.

Agreed.... Seems like stupidity....
I've read in some app comments that there are some applications that interfere with the phone going to sleep or with the wake up.
I've no reboot problem in this moment, I've seen two or three reboot since i bought it...
But can it be some app installed?

Same problem here. Had multiple restarts at random. Flashed my phone a few times, but it didn't help since I was installing 4th and Mayor every time. Then I flashed it again and didn't install 4th and Mayor. Seems stable now. <Fingers crossed>
Hey guys, that's an issue with your phones. I had that, sent it back to LG to get it fixed.

Does it completely fix the problem? How long ago did you send it to LG and did not experience the problem even once?
Does anybody know if this happens with other phone models? (Maybe it's a OS bug).
CEO Loide
I did it a search on here and Google, but besides one person on another forum having the same problem, I couldn't find anything. So sorry if this has been mentioned before.
The problem I am seeing is that sometimes (can't say what causes it) the screen simply won't turn off unless I do it by pressing the power button. This happened about three or four times in total and it seems unless I reboot the phone, the screen would just stay on, if I don't press the power button. I am on stock Android and the phone is not rooted and the phone is set to switch off the screen after 30 seconds.
Anyone else experienced this problem or does anyone know what the cause could be?

Could be a rogue app that's keeping your screen on, happened to me on another buggy device as well. Try using Batter Battery Stats for a while (day or 2, 3) and see if there's anything that's keeping your phone from sleeping.
I have to press it 2-3 times before the phone powers on. It doesn't happen all the time. it's very intermittent, but it does happen. After doing a factory reset, the button still performs the same. This just stated happening 2 days ago. I didn't drop it or get it wet. Anyone else experiencing this or do I have a faulty power button? I also get a delay when using the home button to turn on the phone. The home button issue might be due to the SD card though. Really love this phone, but this issue is frustrating!
You have to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the phone on from cold.
The home button is probably because of S Voice which is set to activate with a double click of it, so it'll wait to see if you click it twice before going to the home screen, you can disable this in S Voice's settings.

Sometimes I have to press the power button more than once to put the phone to sleep. Do you experience the same? Is this normal? I am coming from a GS2. This never happened. I purchased an unlocked phone from GSM Nation. I am past the 15 day window to return, so I don't know how they will proceed. If I send my phone to Samsung, I'll be without a phone.

To be honest, no, it goes 'to sleep' pretty instantly with one press on mine.

You might not be pressing the button deep enough. If pressed properly, it should go to sleep with just one press. Long press will pop up the shutdown/restart menu. If turned off, long press of 2 sec will power on the phone.

Yes, I'm having this problem and I think others are too. I've had 10-30 second wake up lags at times (I have one of them recorded for proof). I got a replacement phone yesterday and while I didn't use it long enough to experience all of the lags, it had a pretty constant 2 second wake up lag. I'm now using SoftLocker to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep and that's minimizing the lag.

I guess it depends on the RAM utilization. The delay happens to me when the RAM is highly utilized.
Does anyone who is having lag issues, have ART as their runtime? I had such nasty lag with ART that I almost took my phone back. Once I switched back to Dalvik, everything was really fast. If you don't know what ART or Dalvik is, then it's probably something else.

My phone was getting severe lag, so I hit restart. It's been frozen with the screen on for over 6hrs now. Has anyone else had this? How do I prevent it? What can I do right now? I don't understand how my battery isn't dead.
I've tried - holding the power button for an extended period, pressing buttons in different combos, plugging it in, removing the SIM card.
My phone:
No root
No mods
Minimal apps
Tons of memory
Less than 2 months old
I've had random lag and freezes every few days. A reboot always fixes it. Thoughts?

It's done it 2 more times now.
If you hold the power + vol up + vol down for ten seconds it will reboot. I did a factory reset. This is unacceptable. I'll be attempting to exchange this phone.
Unrelated is that WiFi calling sometimes works, sometimes not. Sometimes it's in the settings, other times not. The known issue with the fingerprint sensor is crap too. Been an Android guy since the beginning. Never been so disappointed I bought a phone.
If anyone else figures what this is from please share.

There is nothing wrong with your phone dude they all do that from time to time. It just happened to me (06/06/2018) a couple minutes ago...... press and hold the volume down and the power button for 10-15 seconds and it will reset the phone to the logo screen and you will be able to login. No need to wait until the battery dies.
