yesterday I got the notification on my phone that an update was available. I have 7008 and I'm using an unlocked/unbranded phone on AT&T.
I just connected it to my computer and zune says there is no update available. I checked the settings and on the phone and it says there is no update, but it said there was when I checked yesterday.
I know I can get NoDo through other methods, but I'll wait. It's just weird that it doesn't find the update anymore.
Hi!
I've exactly the same problem!
I had the notification for an update on my omnia 7, i coonect it, and no update!
I wonder if the Nodo update is not delayed due to the 16 bit problem?
XIII
don't think that's why, I think that's just a problem with samoled displays. Even without NoDo gradients will have that issue.
But did you get the Nodo update?
No I didn't get a chance to update the day I saw the notification. Still on 7008 since last month, and I am experiencing the 16 bit problem.
Same here! I'm on an unbranded omnia 7, got the message that there is an update available around 3 days ago, but I was away and didn't have my laptop with me. I came back today, and zune says there are no updates available. W T F, samsung?
Welcome to the missing Nodo Team!
Any news? Mine still hasn't updated
Hey,
using the Omnia 7 in Germany, unbranded, T-Mobile.
Phone Version=7.07008 PRE-NODO
But no NoDo unfortunately
I already contacted Microsoft, Samsung an T-Mobile. Nobody seems to be able to solve my problem!
Mine still hasn't updated either
Same here, after reflashing, NoDO no more. No trick works anymore except ChevronWP7Updater.
NoDo
Just got an new Omnia 7 16gb today (unbranded / from Germany), was 7004 on it, updated the official way via Zune to 7008, the update was only found when I had the data connection set to on. But no NoDo update
Maybe they are trying to fix the 16bit banding before they are going to release it again or what do you guys think?
16Bit banding is not a problem with Samsung devices.
I am having the same issue Got a Omnia 7 the other day and the 7008 update went well - but have tried and tried to get the Nodo update - but no luck!

So you are saying that theres no 16Bit banding? or are you saying that the 16Bit banding is normal for the Omnia 7?
I just jumped from the HTC HD7 to the Omnia 7. On the HD7 I didnt have the banding when it was stock, I updated it to the NoDo update and after that it got 16Bit banding. My Omnia 7 seemed to have 16Bit banding from the start, but I thought it still was a bug?
I'm happy people start to wake up with this problem!
Maybe MS remove the update for an obscur reason...
I bought my Omnia 7 two weeks ago. Received - after connecting to Zune - the february update. But the Nodo update is not available yet. Not sure why and when it will comes. Makes me worry about it.... Simply because my HTC Trophy already received in first half of march!!
I haven't received any updates, over zune or otherwise. I hope this isn't an issue. Tried the Hungarian method a bit ago, but no luck so just waiting...
UK T-mobile branded Omnia 7 running on ATT Network
software version 7.0 (7004)

It's been there from the start with SAMOLED screens. Suposedly a technology limitation.
Article about it here showing the Omnia vs a LCD screen

Any updates on this? I bought an Omnia 7 for my wife, and it only updates to 7008. My own Omnia 7 I could update to Nodo via the "Hungarian method", but this was before April 10. It seems that Microsoft has plugged that hole now.

Where did you get it from? Some torrent site?
mine also has been updated to Mango Beta2. you can check Windows Phone 7 General forum for detail
I just installed the beta 2 for the developers what is published today on my dell venue pro and I wanted to share my first impressions with the community. I will update this thread with my findings (positive or negative).
First some history:
I bought the phone in the US beginning of January. I live in Europe, Spain and I have my phone developer unlocked. So now you know where my phone came its maybe comparable for some of you here in the forums.
After update my phone have the following software specs:
DVP 8Gb model upgraded to 16gb
OS: 7661.WP7_6_Trial (mojobld).20110607-1657
Firmware: 2250.1500.7004.105
Hardware rev. 112.576.2.0
Radio software: 2.2.5.15
Radio hardware: 8250
Bootloader: 7.27.1.0
After update:
I noticed that the phone contained all my data, installed programs telephone numbers ect. what I didn't expect after doing any flash.
Positive points:
- Reaction speed is much better then NODO
- Stable OS (BETA 2 is mostly stable)
- The new functionality of course.
Negative point
- I noticed that background programs like eg. 4th and mayor are closing down out of them self. I'm not sure if multi-tasking is fully implemented.
- Some times I have a white glim's if I start an app in the overlay
Still need to try
- I have the feeling the software for the phone is indeed better but need some more testing.
- Somehow get a benchmark program to see if the performance is really better.
- I think the battery is also better but i'm not sure yet.
Maybe people who have access to the beta can also share their experience. I can confirm the BETA will not brick our phones
Here you can download the beta. There is a manual to install without dev unlocked device!

Ah..You beat me to it... I too just installed it and its awesome first impressions. Its super buttery smooth and fast. I installed my update on the FW beta testing unit.
So the FW is 212 and rest all the same for mango.
Takeaway: DVP will get the Mango update and it works.
I will report back with more info.

both of you beat me jerks! j/k
update ran smooth on both the firmware updated and non updated devices. The experience is fantastic. There is no question of that. Mango is a demon
I need to test on the old f/w but users let me say this. New update + mango == you may think you are in mobile heaven
It's really funny that the devices are using 2 year old tech for all intents and purposes and it is outperforming android by leaps and bounds!
I should do a benchmark
can we update to Mango beta first, then only upgrade the firmware when it comes out? or is it better to wait until the firmware update is applied before installing Mango beta?

If you don't have a spare device, i would recommend waiting it out for the FW to come and then update to Mango beta. All sources info lead to FW only update and no OS level update - still i would be cautious..becos you don't want the Mango experience to be ruined by the wifi crash.
Firmware and BetaMango?
Ok guys my phone is a junk right now mostly lockups and phone issues. Any help with finding downloading and installing the FW along with Mango? I would be very thankful.......

For sure. People are looking for 32GB WP7 phones but the Dell is not mentioned despite being the first OEM to ship legit 32GB devices. They would have been second only to Samsung IMO for best WP7 device. Should have got on top of the issues we reported faster letting positive word of mouth spread and capitalised on the form factor but I have to say, they seemed strangely uninterested in actually making an impact (even with the Venue android version). And the resulting bad rep is now really affecting their perception. Sad.
Without question...
What remains to be see is if they can do something to regain a lot of what they lost. I think if they make the concessions right they can convince a lot of customers to talk highly of Dell and that would go a long way.
If they just drop the firmware and continue as if nothing happened then the last memory they will have in many people's minds is the failed DVP start and that can sag their reputation for a LONG time. Ford comes to mind in that regard...
Back to Topic - One good thing with DVP and Mango compared to other devices:
Since DVP never had much homebrew action due to it not exposing API's as other vendors, it became a good thing with Mango. The reason is now Homebrew apps are either killed or don't work with Mango beta. I feel sad for HTC folks I am sure they will resurrect.
But the approved homebrew solution from chevronlabs should remedy that, right? BTW what is the best thing about Mango in everyday use?

Its the same as before. Still you need to click watch video.
One thing i am noticing with Mango is if one uses the full Mango experience, the battery will be drained in 1/2 day. I used my phone the same way as i would+Mango and it drained in 8 hrs. Pre-Mango, i used to get 15 hrs.
I am excited about Mango coming very soon.
Microsoft just released a new version of Zune today.
Go get it. Mango is coming
Zune looks good but I hate some things.
I hate how Apps section works.
When you scroll the applications, you cannot see the app logo image, the image is scrolled also with the list.
Images are supposed to tell you a lot more then the title.
Zune sucks at this in my opinion.
How many of you have ate a mango anyway
I don't still see that update i buy phone from t mobile
My AT&T Focus Rev. 1.3 just updated...no tricks. Mine is now sporting 7720.68.
Hello all, after reading through all the frustrating problems with the mango update, I had lost hope in buying this. But now Dell sells factory installed Mango devices. Will it be any differentthan the ones you guys have?.
Maybe those gkitches have been solved?. I will await for your much valuable advice.

Just plug in your phone and update. The hickups you are reading are from people that have installed custom roms for the most part.

Is that so? I thought the Mango update broke the compass and wifi. I thought that buying a pre-installed Mango device would most probably be tested or rectified than the earlier builds which came with Win7.
If that is not the case and if upgrading to Mango via Zune is good enough then I am buying it now. Right now.
Am I right in my assumption?
Mango didnt break the compass Dell did.
The non-functioning compass is not at the fault of Microsoft or the 7.5 update. Dell did that, for various reasons I'd rather not repeat due to profanity restrictions.
I bought mine around June of 2011, didn't come with 7.5 on it, but when the update started rolling out, I didn't feel like waiting and forced Zune to apply the update to my phone.
It went smoothly for the most part(my computer restarted a few times during the update process, but that's probably a problem related to my particular hardware.), and the phone has been running smoothly for the most part. I've only had to pull the battery twice out of the couple of months that I've had the update installed. Apparently there are compass issues, but I've never really had to use the compass in any app, most navigation apps (I use the standard Maps and GMaps Pro) seem to work just fine without it.
You'll love the phone, definitely won't be something you regret buying, in my opinion. But with the newest round of WP7.5 devices coming around, you might want to stick it out a bit more and see if you can get something a little more worth your money.

Thats a fantastic piece of advice. Even though Lumia is available for cheap in part of europe I come from, I want to relish the physical keyboard in DVP hence am contemplating. I almost went to the extent of clicking the BUY IT NOW on eBay and then figured I will talk some gurus here.
This will be my first Windows Phone and hence I will spend less money and buy a DVP. Let me see for 6months to what Nokia has in store for us. 170euros for 6months is pretty good value for money.
If anybody else has a piece of cake to share with me, please do so.
I'm also new to Windows Phone 7 and my first WP7 phone is a Dell Venue Pro. I was also reluctant in buying the DVP because I read several user reviews that the hardware is extremely buggy, but after taking time to read Endgadget reviews and other reputable (sorry I can't give you a link) authors, I bought a DVP. So far, I've been more than content with the phone, and let me tell you: the physical keyboard is amazing and the operating system is amazing (and this is coming from an Apple disciple..hehehe).
My only complaint is that the new Mango update has power problems, whenever I drain my phone's battery, it wouldn't boot - hell it wouldn't even charge. The only solution I've found is to take out the battery, turn the phone on (yes, without the battery), once you see the Dell logo put the battery back and the phone will now boot, then charge it. Or just make sure you don't drain the DVP's battery.
Also, I don't really like the Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac. I just wish Microsoft would give us Mac users a native Zune software...oh well..hehehe...
But all in all, I would recommend the Dell Venue Pro, it's an amazing piece of technology - very sleek and definitely a head turner.
Ok then. I decided I will buy a DVP and use it for 6months and then change over to second generation devices.
It is still a tough choice considering that DVP sells for 220euros brand new while newly released Omnia W with super amoled and front facing camera costs 290euros
First off can it be done and Is it worth doing a manual 8107 update to a Venue Pro?
I have an unlocked Tmobile version from NewEgg. I think its at 7720. I been reading if your going to do this you need to go to 7740 then to 8107 and then install the English language pack.
I guess the bottom line is if its worth it to do this?
I have, and here are my detailed instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497142
It was worthwhile for me, if only for the psychological reassurance that I wasn't being left behind in OS updates because of some idiots at T-Mobile (when, like you, I thought I had purchased an "unlocked" device, true in only one sense of the word). You'll probably need to use the same method to move up to the Tango OS update when it drops, so might as well get started now, eh?
Sent from my Venue Pro
How about Tango?
Someone in another forum thinks that a Tango update might be coming in a month so he not doing a manual update so that when they do send a update it will be automatic. He is not sure if you do the 8107 manually on a phone that would happen. Any thoughts?
No idea, but it certainly seems possible to do a factory reset back to old firmware if that's the case. From what I've read, you can smoothly step back into carrier/Zune updates as long as you've kept the languages consistent and updated through cab-sender.
Also, once Tango is available, I bet we can use cab-sender to get it rather than wait for T-mo or AT&T, right?
deleted
i did mines sometime ago it works well
Well, this is my story. Once I did de update and everything went just fine... Until the next day! The phone started to be "laggy" but for short periods of time (about ten seconds or something) and then it became back to normal! I dont know if that had happened to some else!
Aside from the fix for the so-called "disappearing keyboard" bug, are there any other improvements we should want in 8107?
Considering that the DVP was the last phone to get the Mango update, and considering that Dell seems to have given up on phones altogether, I wouldn't expect regular updates. Unless someone knows something different.
