Gingerbread(Leak) Overclocking - Droid X General

After installing the Milestone OC Module again i was able to get a 1965 w/ quadrant. The leak is fast even without OC but now it can catch your fingers on fire and still be stable.

i get 2129

Sorry, my key board died last night and was to lazy to get batteries lol. That is pre-gingerbread. that was dark slide 4.2 oc'd to 1.3ghz after a full wipe and install.
My highest for GB just barely broke 1800 @ like 1807 iirc. that's oc'd to 1.2ghz. stock was 1776

I'm getting 2197 overclocked to 1300 with 69 vsel.
It's stable and I don't get unexplained crashes with GB.

I use Jrummy's app, exclusively.. it's given me better results than any other one. The 1.45 setting was taken out in recent versions, but there is a setting that enables "Legacy Frequencies". I used ULV 1.45Ghz preset, on performance governor setting for the purpose of this benchmark. I'm using the deodexed/rooted version of Gingerbread with P3droid's "preview of TranQ" 10% battery mod/CRT animation zip. I have roughly 40 things frozen with Titanium(things that do not hinder my daily use in any way). That's about it. I have something like 120 apps installed from the market, as well. Screen is set to 180 density, ads blocked.
Other than actually using the 1.45ghz setting, I did nothing to prepare for a benchmark, specifically.
I usually stick to the 1.15Ghz ULV setting for daily use, just because I have more need for a battery than absurdly fast speed, and really, who **needs** much higher than stock??

I mean, I've tried the rest and they didn't compare. So, even when a new leak comes out, I will wait for him to update his app to support it, rather than use a different app. Just stating that I'm loyal to his O/C app. Nothing more was meant by it lol

Self-explanatory once you click. Basically was the first to enable the CRT screen off animations and edit the battery icon to display %s. I'm now using the Alpha1 theme, because I prefer a black status bar.

I'm using the eye candy version too. I find it quite good (after installing a better theme for adw ), but i dont like that they put custom contact book, browser and messaging app
They run just as quick as the originals with more features and the roms pretweaked all you have to do is uninstall reinstall to you're liking and fine tune I like it
But then again it is a preference thing

Faux or ktoonsez?

Opinions? Currently running ktoonsez....but considering the move.....anyone else switch already?

Been using faux kernel for the past two weeks its really smooth. I would recommend it over ktoonsez. However they both are really excellent kernels.

I would like to know this as well if anyone else has any input.
Well I flashed faux's kernel and everything seems nice and smooth....the only difference I can see/notice at this point is the max clock speed on faux's is about 60mhz less than ktoonsez....which I kinda prefer because I usually had ktoonsez set to 1809 and it would randomly switch to 1890 every time I ran MC3. Other than that...battery life seems decent enough...will only tell with time....no other pros or cons at this time to report
Scaling seems a bit more advanced in this kernel as well.

I would agree with you on the OC between the two, but KT also under volts to 192 and have a range of governors compared to Faux. Also using the smartv2 seems to be quite conservative and have the performance boost to scale from 192 to 1890 if you choose those settings. Faux was killing my battery whether OC to 1809 or 16??. I'm really enjoying KT and think it was a good switch from Faux, especially running with KyanROM 1.5. This is just my $.02.

Can't comment on battery yet.....but doesn't seem too bad at this point. Gonna have to let it sit overnight to tell. As for the UV/UC of ktoonsez....unfortunately I have one of the "crap phones" that makes everything act all crazy...once you raise the voltage a tad it seems stable enough. Never said one was better than the other.....at this point from a basic use standpoint they are pretty equal....

thanks, but i've searched already for some help but no threads seem to outline what a kernel actually does, just how to change them or that one is fast or awesome or great.... but what does a kernel control compared to a rom, and what are the different functions of each, and what does changing each get me? or at least, since this thread is specific to kernels, what are the answers to the above questions when talking about the kernel....
or should i just post a new thread asking this?
from wikipedia
kernel:
In computing, the kernel (from German Kern, nucleus, core[1]) is the main component of most computer operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level. The kernel's responsibilities include managing the system's resources (the communication between hardware and software components).[2] Usually as a basic component of an operating system, a kernel can provide the lowest-level abstraction layer for the resources (especially processors and I/O devices) that application software must control to perform its function. It typically makes these facilities available to application processes through inter-process communication mechanisms and system calls.

JB gaming combo

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has a good JB gaming combo? It has to be able to run all the big apps smoothly like dead trigger, N.O.V.A 3 and so on. A few tweaks wouldn't hurt, or a lot, also, currently running stock with VTA kernel. And trust me, I would love to experiment with all the ROMS posted here but I have a download limit that I have reached, all opinions welcome.
up for this. also looking for good rom and kernel combo. im on jellybelly 1.0.0 with latest thalamus kernel
Thanks, bound to be more people with the same problem, I tried to download Air kernel weekly but I don't know which as to click on.

Interested in this as well. There's one way I can run Dead Trigger smoothly in my stock JB rom, go into Manage Apps -> Running, and Force Stop each one of them!
I posted a probable reason at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816140
If there's a ROM that do not need me to Force Stop running Apps, I am all up for it!
you will have to try all the ROM available if you love to experiment...

What's even better is crank it up to 1400 MHz and do the tegra 3 hack for dead trigger, and and get ultra settings. its amazing a 2 1/2 yr old phone can run it with all the bells and whistles. Try it out you won't be sorry. Just don't forget to plug your phone in

If you check one of my other threads, about my nexus s screen, I thing I didn't do it properly and caused the game and my whole nexus s to freeze, may try it later after re download, going to try some heavy games, I will report back if they work.
after trying lots of ics roms and kernels i found a good combination (if not the best) i posted about it with all the needed settings here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726186
as for Jelly Bean i haven't tried lots of combinations yet so i can't really judge.

Under data/data/com.madfinger.deadtrigger/shared_pref/com.madfinger.deadtrigger.xml change
<int name="UnityGraphicsQuality" value="1" /> to 2 instead of 1 and change
<int name="OptionsGraphicDetail" value="2" /> to 3 instead of 2
And then dont forget to delete the .bak file created after you change the .xml or it will get restored after you start the game again.
