[Q] Dual boot WP7/Android question... :D - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hey guys, been setting up my phone to dual boot WP7 and Android.
I used this tutorial and followed it to the T.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944288
I am on the very last step, all of the partitioning is done right and the android folder is on the SD ready to boot. In the video he says to go to option 2 in MAGLDR; Boot AD SD. He clicks on it in the video and it says Error: SD Kernel Open Failed! Then he shuts off the camera and proceeds with saying go down to option 10 (Services), then click option 1 (Boot settings), then click option 3 (AD SD Dir). I did all of this but when he clicks the AD SD Dir in MAGLDR, it takes him to a new screen. For me, it takes me to the main MAGLDR menu! I noticed that he is using MAGLDR 1.13... and I am using 1.12. Is this a problem? If not, what gives? Thanks!

Just for anyone who has had this issue.
I installed MAGLDR 1.13 and it worked flawlessly
So happy with my fast WP7 and my very fast Android. Perfection on the best phone made to date.

probably have to use 1.13
a quick tip, charge the phone in android, battery will last longer
anyways dual booting is the best!1

[Q] !!HELP!! STUCK ON ANDROID LOGO AFTER gogogo! on magldr

hey guys ive seen a few thread similar to mine but they seem to just different enough, that i cant use the same solution posted.
I used Magldr to run android rom on my hd2 and after the go go go! screen in went to the android logo... then turns off ... then loads again then turns off ... so annoying
I did the whole process over again from scratch but the same thing happened.
Im sure i am missing something but i cant seem to figure out what it is.
I did the following steps
1) falsh HSPL 2.08
2) flash Task 29 with 2.15 radio
3) Paste "initrd.gz" and "zImage" to root sd
4) after reboot i went to "BOOT AD SD"
5) booted rom from CWM
6) everything went good ... got past go go go! then is just stopped at the android logo

Is your AD SD Boot Dir set to the root ( >.< in the menu) of your SD Card? If not, try reflashing MAGLDR...
Maybe you want to tell us what build you used?

New problem
thank for the quick post
sorry i should mentioned it I'm using the JDMS Ultimate on HTC HD2 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782301
however i figured my earlier problem now im running into something else
i didn't use the "initrd.gz" and "zImage" from CWM
NEW problem
After rebooting with CWM android boots up then turns off and then it boots up from nand and turns off again ... this will keep on looping until i take battery out
I re flashed Magldr but it did the same thing ... im going to reflash HSPL then try again ... but i followed all the direction from the following thread and dont see where i went wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
GOT IT!!
thanks ... kinda to hose who helped...
I used CWM 1.0 instead and everything worked fine...i also used the the Jaws-MIUI rom
thanks RaiderX303
Ill probably kill this thread soon if oneone posts one but but the questions I had were answered by looking around I was just too lazy at first
hi need help
can not install the Clockwork Mod Recovery On The HD2 when i restart on the MAGLDR only on 2.Boot AD NAND what do need help!!!!!!!!!!!
cant reboot form BOOT AD SD only on Boot AD NAND need help?????
on the AD SD Boot Dir set to the root ( >.< in the menu) which one i select it have <,> AAlic*1,dcim,mydoc*1,WMDRM,TRANSF*1,XDA_UC,GAMELOFT,MULTIM*1.APP,PROGRA*1??????
hope this not way off i am still totaly new at this but , just went trhough something similar with a bad nand install and kept rebooting to quietly brillant, not sure where i found my answer now but hold down the power button after you boot to get to default main magdlr screen where you will be able to make the changes you need then maybe reflash your rom
If it keeps looping over HTC white screen and the 1234 GOGOGO MAGLDR screen then take out your battery and push the battery pins back. They could be loose.
This also happened to me, my i only option and solution was: press hard-reset button on backside so it wont be stuck on the andriod logo and go back to the store and be really nice to the salesman so he would send it back to htc.
I'm currently having issues resulting in this same issue. I've tried mutiple different Roms aswell as using some SD roms in the hopes that I would fine a build suitable for my phone but I always end up getting bad results.
My previous NAND Rom worked fine for all of about 5 hours before I started getting freezes, restarting and constant boot loops along with massive battery drains.
Currently running the below ROM and so far, it's been the most reliable (going almost 12hrs without a hitch) but this morning I found it sat on the little blue android man screen. Had to do a battery pull and switched the phone back on, only to end up on the same screen again. I've left the phone for a fair period of time between each battery pull (probably around 30mins) but still get the same thing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967353
Any idea's on how to fix this? Ideally I'd like to keep the same build I have now as its a really nice build... I just can't seem to get anything running properly.
Seem to have got it working again. Did a battery pull but left the battery out for a good 20mins before putting it in. Booted up first time and it seems to be working fine now.

Flashing a ROM

I am new to working with the HD2. I have flashed ROM's on my G2x and am working on a HD2 my son bought.
It alreayd has aMAGLDR V1.13 I can get into that menu easily. It gives me the following boot options
Root menu:
1 Boot WPH
2 Boot AD SD
3 Boot AD Nand
4 USB MassStg
5 USB FLasher
6 USB TTY
7AD Hardreset
8AD Recovery
9Tetris
10 Services
11 Reset
12 Power Down
MY question is if I put a ROM on the SD card should I load a NAND or SD ROM?
And what is the proper sequence for flashing a ROM on this phone as I would rather not brick it
Thanks for your input and assistance!
I cant believe you're even asking this.
Go and read the rom instructions or the guides.

You need to give more information. What build are you trying? This is a comprehensive guide on installing all newer NAND ROMs.
SD ROMs are very easy but pointless if you aren't dual booting with WP7, NAND Android or Windows Mobile. Just place the Android folder on the root of the SD card with the MAGLDR files, choose the SD Dir and then boot AD SD.
If you don't care to have Windows 6.5 still operating on the phone, then you might as well use a NAND ROM. NAND ROMs usually consume less energy than an SD ROM and also runs smoother. Just download one of the ROMs onto your SD card and go to option 8 in MAGLDR, go to install zip and highlight the zip ROM file you want to load. Give it a few minutes to load. Make sure in the ROM thread that you use the correct partition size they recommend or you will experience loading issues. I am currently using Tytung's Nexus HD2 v3.0 NAND ROM.

Help please! Update problem after installing MAGLDR V1.13

Hi, Tried installing my first Nexus ICS Android on HTC HD2
following instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
Got to the point where I got MAGLDR v1.13 installed and running.
Then found that I needed HD2 Android NAND Tool and Repartitioned System size to 200 Mb
using USB flasher mode on the MAGLDR.
Then NAND Tool suggested that running Wipe(taks 29) to be a good idea before attempting to install Android so I tried running this as well.
I got the phone into tri-colour USB mode and started wipe. USB mode disappeared replaced by HTC progress bar but it got stuck at 0% and timedout.
I tried recovering to HTC original WWE ROM but it also gets stuck at 0% progress.
Currently Bootloader starts and loads a options, I can also go into USB mode but nothing will start updating the phone it gets stuck at 0%.
I think what repartitioning created a problem but I am unsure how to recover it and need your help!

Wrong forum, should be in the Q&A. You'd have thought it would be obvious, seeing as you're asking a QUESTION, but somehow people don't pick that up
Also, you really need to read more. There isn't any point in installing MAGLDR then Task29ing, in fact there is very little point in Task29ing at all unless you experience major problems with your phone. A simple data wipe (in CWM) and repartition has never failed me.
If you did a task 29 after doing the other steps first then you wiped everything back off. Install magldr again then CWM and then install your rom of choice.
Also for being a member since 2005 you should know not to EVER post a question in development.
Mods please move to Q&A

Sorry for posting it in the wrong forum.
Many thanks for the comments...I cannot install anything at present because once update process starts it times out at 0%. Task29 did not work either - it also gets stuck at 0%.
Only thing that works is Boot loader and USB mode.
As Boot loader is working I tried to install NAND Android following this instruction:
2. FLASH YOUR ANDROID ROM
The Original NAND Android Thread by Cotulla is *HERE*
NOTE1: This section is only applicable AFTER you have flashed MAGLDR to your Device
NOTE2: Make sure your phone is still connected via usb cable before starting
* When your phone Reboots it will Enter the MAGLDR Boot Menu Screen *
1. Press the 'Volume Down' button to goto Option 5: USB Flasher and press the 'Call' button (far left of the 5 hardware buttons at the bottom)
2. The menu will enter Android Flasher mode and install usb drivers if not present
3. Browse to the folder you extracted your NAND Android Package files to on your pc, right click on Run DAF.exe (or Install.exe if DAF.exe isnt present) and select Run as Administrator
But DAF is giving this error back:
Error happen
Read below for more information
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723)
thats all old instructuions.
go get the nand toolkit, and also get hspl3
...
phone into bootloader (tri colour screen, not magldr)
connect usb
run hspl3
choose 2.08.hspl (don't assume its already 2.08.hspl, check it, hanging at 0% is often a sign of no hspl)
when reboots immediately go back into bootloader
*(* from here on you can do all this in the nand toolkit*)*
flash magldr
when it reboots enter magldr
(if phone hangs on a htc screen and doesn't show magldr, you need to flash radio 2.15.50)
phone into magldr
connect usb
choose 'usb flasher'
in toolkit select desired system partition size and cache size
when its finished
phone back into magldr
choose 'ad nand'
this starts cwm
(if you havent yet partitioned your sd card with an ext partitio, look ity up and do it now)
select 'install zip from sd'
select zip from sd
browse to where you dropped the rom.zip file onto your sd card.
when it reboots you're done, , alternatively it failed somewhere, , which step?
if you get apparent driver errors, theres a nice big button called drivers in the toolkit (i think?)
Many thanks that worked like clockwork

[Q] Stuck on HTC Logo

Hi everyone
I got a problem. When I try to install wp7 on my phone, after install the rom (ex.15 06 12 hd2o v2 02 wp7 8779 tango) and the reboot, the phone is stucking on HTC LOGO. I've tried to install different rom but the same problem. I'm not a rookie and i installed many roms. I noticed that, when i pull out the sd card, the system after reboot is booting up. But when i put the sdcard back, the system do not recognize it, and i do not have space to install anything. The same think is happening when i trying to install other wp7 roms. Never have any problem with my hd2 and flashing roms(android or wp7). My sdcard is 6class of speed Nokia.
Maybe some suggestions?
ps.
the sdcard is fine. Before i had the android with ext4 partition.
steps of my install over android:
1) flashing via wp6.5
2) formating sdcard via wp6.5 or using gparted ( the same effect)
3) task29
4) magdlr 1.13
5) use last 24mb or nand
6) usb flasher (ex. 15.06.12 HD2O© v2.02 WP7 8779 TANGO)
7) after flashing the phone is restarting
8) stuck on htc logo
which HSPL is installed?
also many problems is related with unsupported sdcards...
i wrote that. never have this situation before. the sd card was good on wp7 before. hspl is good too
No other error message? except that it's stuck on htc logo?
maybe give the method below (link) a try?
do it again
1. M-sd format in fat32
In Magldr. menu :
- choose Clear SD MBR press the green key(call key) to confirm
- choose uselast24Nand press the green key(call key) to confirm
...Then choose USB Flasher mode option #5 in magldr ....
...then ran the DWI file of Pdaimatejam Rom Wp7.5 Tango
Do it again.
i've done this 10 times.... nothing..
SDcard i good, earlier i had the wp7 on this card, i've tried to format it by canon 600d, nokia phone.... gparted, windows 7, nothing. After flashing and reboot , the phone stucks on HTC logo. But if I remove sdcard and reboot the phone, the system is loading, but there is no free space.
Similar problem here
I did everything according to the instructions, but after I flash WPH, and MAGLDR boots it up, it says I have no more free space. When I go to the Settings->About screen, it says 15mb total space, 0mb free.
Even though I have a 2GB, Sandisk Class 2... so I do a hard reset via Settings->About->Restart my Phone and it reboots. Now I'm stuck at the black HTC screen, after MAGLDR tries to boot my HTC phone.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it my microSD? or is something else wrong with it?
yes, your sdcard not working...
go to setting-about-reset and do hard reset but dont let start boot wp7 (pull battery or boot to magldr)
or
pull sdcard and format it with old Nokia phone or SDFormatter (go to option and select Format size adjustment)
when card formatted put in phone and now boot to WP7...
Did it but...
It still doesn't work.. going to go get a sandisk 16GB class 2 then, and pray it works... there's always android if this still fails. Thank You!

[Q] Problems to flash clK or magldr to HD2

Hello everybody,
I started a thread in the German handy-faq.de forum about flashing my htc hd2 (512LEO) with android.
While they can’t help me, a forum Member told me to ask the xda-Dev.
So here am i and i hope you can help me.
At first, please pardon my mistakes in the English language, it’s a long time ago since I learned it at school
Now my Problem:
My HTC HD2 was repaired by manufacture one year ago. The Smartphone got a new Motherboard with the actual Software (HTC ROM 3.14.407.2(04666) GER, Radio 2.15.50.14…)
The original ROM WM6.5 was/is running without faults.
After reading in many forums about changing the Software I tried to put Android on my HD2.
At first I “opened” the HD2 with HSPL4 and changed the SPL3.03 to HSPL2.08.
After this was successfully done also Task 29 “worked”… I tried to flash clK1.5…the PC said: “done” but after reboot the HD2 stopped with a white screen and green htc letters.
There was no hboot! From booting with pressed “Back” or “Home” Button the same: no menu.
I tried it again several times also with clK 1.4 and magldr (after Task29) the same problem.
Back to WM6.5 via SD Card was no Problem so the HD2 works fine at this time.
What can I do to get Android on my Handy?
Is it possible, that some HD2 didn’t work with clK or magldr?
Is something wrong in "my way" of flashing?
Many thanks
123kb
some older versions of task29 use a radio as the .nbh, so its possible you removed the required radio.
i would.....
forget about task29, its not necessary.
enter bootloader
confirm spl says 2.08.hspl and NOT 2.08.0000
flash 2.15.50 radio
back into bootloader
flash magldr (because it should come up automatically when the phone restarts, without requiring you to press anything, making it easier to tell its worked)
report back.
Thanks for your answer.
I did this yesterday, after installing magldr and auto boot the HD2 shows no Menu, only white screen and htc.
The HD2 shows 2.08 HSPL after booting with L- Button pressed so it shut be "open".
That´s the problem, i can´t get into the Loader Menu.
All the same clK or magldr.

only three reasons that magldr wouldnt show up...
1 - wrong radio - must be 2.xx.50 where xx is 07 or higher (2.15.50 keeps it simple)
2 - wrong hspl - must be 2.08.hspl
3 - faulty hardware.
...are you sure that there are only these 3 reasons?
Radio is 2.15.50.14,HSPL is right 2.08.HSPL and i can´t believe that the Hardware is faulty because Windows Mobile "Backflash" and the Phone is running without any fault.
I will download the Soft again (maybe i loaded "broken" Soft) and try to flash again (without task29 as you wrote)
I´ll be back in some minutes...
...soft download from xda...HSPL 2.08 installed,Radio from orig.ROM 2.15.50.14, with HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1 magldr installed...the same as I wrote...no Menu
any idea
Try a different version of MAGLDR/cLK. Your motherboard was replaced, and I have seen so many people with replaced motherboards having problems. It could be like what sam said, a hardware fault. (Technically for HTC, it isn't a hardware fault as long as it doesn't affect the phone's functionality under Windows Mobile)
there have been cases where winmo flashes and works fine, yet other things don't, perhaps magldr starts, but then always hangs at gogogo, or gives 1e fatal hit, , and the dreaded stuck radio has many variants, ranging from being fixable by flashing using the freezer trick, all the way through to nothing at all working ever, , so i could well believe there is a case where winmo would work but nothing else would.
why not try clk again? i believe there is a version of clk that can be flashed from sd card, , might take better than the usb version?
...I tried different Versions of magldr, clK 1.4 and clK1.5 allways the same Problem.
I can´t find clK Version to flash from SD. If you got it, send me a link and I try it.
it seems, that my HD2 only run WM6.5 and before "Murphy" comes and I flash my Phone in a "Paperweight" I stay on using WM6.5.
Thanks for the help.
Have a good time

Copy the .nbh file to a clean SD Card (make sure the SD Card is not too big - a less than 2GB card is sure shot), power up the phone with the vol down key pressed. All the best!
hello ph03n!x,
thanks for the link, I downloaded the file and put the leoimg.nbh to the same 2GB SD Card I used to flash back to WM6.5.
The Phone "said" succesfull done but after reboot, white screen and htc letters.
It will not run on my Phone...ok, back to WM65 again.
Thanks a lot,it was worth a try....I will try it again if there is any way...maybe in the future it is possible )
Hi,
if WinMob6.5 is runing, you can boot Android over WinMob... you only need a right partition on SD-card (see NativSD-thread see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31110691 ) , then install Android in the partition (rom-name must have NativeSD in thread-title like the pacman-rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32721010 ), boot WinMob and start Android via clrcad + haret (or with my "one-click-tool" see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33174747 ) ...
See the Wiki under WinMobile Installation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2/NativeSD
(great thanks to Szczepanik for the Wiki)... it looks complicated, but it's realy simple...
My pacman-rom runs great... (thanks XYLO)
Cheers

hello o82239,
I try to use your tip, unfortunately without any success,
after starting haret.exe and booting the HD2 shows 6 or 7 lines in very small letters and hang on this screen.

Hi,
I think, you should try it all again with a clean SD-card (you can clean all SD-card-partitions under Win7 with "diskpart" or under Linux with fdisk or other tools)... and post all your steps... we can take a look, if you have forgot one step or if you do something wrong...
Cheers

just follow the clk install you didn't add driver for your dev.So I think you just follow the step .1.task29 2.flash radio 3.flash clk 4.add driver then reboot with holding on your home button into recovery screen. And can you show us what your screen looks when you in HSPL sreen.

hello and thanks for your answers.
at first for o82239, I tried three different sd cards all are running perfect with WM6.5 (sandisk 32gb class 10, sandisk 8gb class 2,Medion 16gb class 4) formatet with "sdformater", and one partition FAT32 and the second EXT4 with mini tool partition wizard.
for wxl104 the problem is that i can´t get after point 3...clK is successfull installed, shows the pc but the HD2 shows after reboot white screen with green htc logo.
so the main question is:
why did the hd2 hang after rebooting on both "softwaresystems" (sd or nand installation)
i´m shure that i did both installs (many times) the way the "howto" is written or the install guide shows.

I can't be sure if you have done anything wrong.but just follow the right step, you can't go to CLK or MAGLDR menue. It mean you have done something wrong.you can install w6.5,so the phone driver is ok.But if you use the htc official rom.you can try to re-unclock your phone. And use hspl-2.08 .If also can't you drop your flashing tool, and redown it again. And then follow the right step, which you can serch it though this forum.
