Hi all,
I'm using HTC HD2 running NAND Android. I tried many builds, and even I can compile "my clone" of released build before flashing. I use ADB and Droid Explorer fluently.
So ... now my friend come with Galaxy 3. I want to help him with few issues. First I wanna to look inside, if I can see any problems. But ... I'm NOT able to have ADB connect.
The comp is Win 7 machine 64bit. With HD2 works well. With Samsung we tried several driver versions. I can have valid Samsung devices in Device manager, but ADB does not connect.
Is here, or there any guide, how to make it communicate?
thanks
PS. I tried the "search", but either the answer is not here, or I'm blind

Now the sense USB dialog is comming very fast.
USB Disk is working, Connection to HTCSync too.
The sync of bookmarks isn't working correctly, maybe a userspace problem
For other tests a outlook pc is needed
I installed it with attached ko files and work fine, except i cannot make "HTC Sync v2.0.40" to discover my HD2 running Darkstone 2.1.
HTC Sync does not see the HD2. ADB driver is installed, activating debugging in HD2 or not makes no difference.
I tried a "HTC Sync" 2.0.3, with same symptom.
I would like to try HTC Sync v3.0 but a serial for Nexus One is requested to download it.
If someone could supply a Serial for Nexus one, it would be nice or upload v3.0, thanks in advance.
Can some one explain which HTC Sync is necessary for our HD2?

Thanks for the software. My device is recognised via HTC Sync, using mattc 1.5b, I can now sync my calendar but when I try to sync my contacts I get an error message that my device does not have enough free memory ... Any suggestions?
sorry, can't help u guys.. i migrated my contacts to gmail so my contacts and calendar syncs with gmail..
Did you install ADB ? you need this for it to work I think well its working fine here. On XP I went to control panel hardware device manager found ADB and updated driver pointing to location of files.
Edit : OK I see ADB installed already

Where does it ask for connection?
On the PC or on the HD2?
When i connect the USB cable HD2 ask to activate the USB device, answering activate or not, does not improve.
And on HD2 shall we enable USB Connection, USB debugging or both?
Thank for help.

When i install HTC Sync v2... or v3... it also install ADB driver in my "Windows 7 X86" without error.
May be a specific driver is necessary for W7 ?
Where did you find yours?
Thx
Sense!!!
It looks to work with mattc 1.5 and 1.5b, which are Sense version.
I use Darkstone v2.1 which is sense less.
Can it be the reason why it does not work for me??

It was posted in the thread by thattruth132 here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748896&highlight=adb but its for xp, there is a link to android developers site in that thread there is a adb file in the pack which might help, but it sound like you have the correct driver already.
HTC Sync 3.0.5422
Try with this brend new version dated 23.8.2010, but same pb, HD2 is not seen.
Also try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756513
new version r6, no success.
It does not work, HD2 is not recognised by HTC Sync.
I wonder if some of you achieve to make it working with a Sense-less version?

It seems from HTC's website that there is an htc sync software on the phone. So I think your guess is right. Maybe it is like Activsync where part of it is on the device and another on the PC.
Also, when HTC sync 3.0 was released, it was for Wildfire only and the new version supports more devices. Maybe if the rom is based on one of these devices without much modification, it would still be recognized.
use this and the latest GIT kernel. HTC sync will work on sense Rom
http 94.136.51.200 download / Driver / HTC%20Wildfire%5Csetup_3.0.5422.exe

This was also my guess, you are right. I tried the mattc 1.6 with HTC Sync 3.0.5422 and it works like a charm. This mattc 1.6 is a Sense version which confirm our guess. As one of you said, may be a software is necessary in the non-sense version, the pb is, which one?
If some one has an idea?
Yo all!
Did abit of searching but didnt find much info...
i went to HTC's website to download HTC Sync, and i went to get the latest 3.0 version, typed in my Serial No. and it accepted it...
But it wont actually sync with my Hero running Froydvillain.
I take it its not actually supported even though it accepted my SN?
Or if it is, please anyone shed some light haha
Im running Win7 64bit.
cheers
Keith
htc sync should work with sense UI roms.
froyd doesn't have sense.
So sory, it won't work

DO NOT USE THESE DRIVERS! They are old and don't really work all that well, they were hacked together (quite well) but in the latest HTC Sync's (both 2.0.40 and 3.0.*) HTC have included proper 64-bit drivers. Use them as they include ADB support out of the box instead of having to switch every 5 minutes.
Hi, im newbie to Android.
I'm currently using 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.20 by Racht, and when I try to debug via USB, the Android device chooser can detect my phone. But the problem is:
Serial number is: "??????????",
AVD name: "N/A",
target: "Unknown"
thus I cannot choose my phone.
Any one got idea of what's going on?
Thanks a lot!

I am after ahyperterminal like program to run via USB to serial cable. It may exist already or if some one is interested in developing just let me know and we can talk.

would also love this.
+1 for this idea.
This would be sick! But is the [App] flag appropriate?
Yeah not to sure about the app flag thing, i am a bit of a noob, so wasnt sure what to put.
I got my USB Serial Device working yesterday.
I use screen as terminal emulation. I posted a short howto on http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/19724-serial-terminal-app/page__view__findpost__p__215393
If you get you usb->tty device working with your kernel this should work your device too.
sounds like an opportunity for someone to make an APK/driver with...
Hopefully it wont get flagged to the app section since it is development related, but back on this topic, It would be awesome to be able to do that, I have a few usb -> serial adapters that could be used
Thanks derpeter. Will give that a go.
Should I change the tag to [DEV]?

Yes, change tag to DEV and this thread could stay here but it will should have something related to development , if it will become another useless chat plenty of crap, trolls and flaming posts I will move /close immediately.

Where did you install 1.19? The busybox installer app from the market installs it but it still does not have microcom in it. /system/xbin/busybox microcom gives me a "applet not found" error
Update: Ignore this, apparently the following busybox installer's v1.19 has microcom:

Thanks again.

Is anyone using the Galaxy Y as a target device when using Eclipse for development? I'm having difficulties in getting the device manager to recognise that the SGY is connected, possibly because of the Broadcomm drivers. If you have managed to get it working, are you running a stock ROM or have you upgraded, and if so, what to?

there is nothing broadcom related to it. just turn on usb debugging in your phone. install kies or samsung usb drivers or a software called pdanet, then eclipse will detect ur phone. i have been using mine sgy as a test phone in mine initial days of app development
