[Req]Port Android to Samsung Instinct s30 sph-m810 - Android Software Development

Is this even possible? It's my old phone, and I thought this would be cool. Has it ever been tried?

WiMax and ROMs

newbie question, but i am wondering - when you root and flash a ROM, does it automatically break wiMax? i have a GB/AOSP Hero and likely will be switching to the Epic. the Wimax issue is one thing i am not sure how it works regarding ROMs, etc.
it seems it is ROM dependent but i want to get clarification on this. if it is, i fail to see why one would flash a ROM that doesnt include WiMax support.

CM7 alpha4 and the gb leak are the only roms I'm aware of that currently have no wimax. I'm pretty sure all froyo roms have wimax working. Also no need to backup wimax.
thanks epic4GEE. still deciding between the Epic and Evo Shift. had a Moment before my Hero and am still very weary of another Samsung.

My mother had a Samsung Moment and it was by far her most horrible phone. It was constantly going into Airplane Mode, and wouldn't reset until you rebooted.
The Epic I can confirm fixed that issue, this phone is also a lot more powerful than any other phone currently on the market. (Atleast for Sprint.)

As a former owner of the Moment, I can relate. I threw my Moment away the day the Epic was released. Samsung was sketchy with it for the longest time. They seemed to have done though what they never did with the moment.. Listened to the yelling and complaints and did a decent job of mending relationships and getting Froyo out.
The only ghost left is the gps. Its more reliable than the moment by far but still randomly reminds you it is a Samsung product.
It is by and large a great phone.

I bought an Epic yesterday.
Just now, trying to figure out the damn WiMax. It disconnects no matter what, and I'm in San Antonio which had one of the first networks here for WiMax. Tried 3 ROMs and still no difference.
Beyond that, I *LOVE* this phone. Running Syndicate at the moment.

Wimax is finicky deal, it works in my house, but only if I hold the phone right and I'm in the right spot....just the nature of high frequencies.

Besides the signal issues I am pretty satisfied with NS4G. I played with EVO3D and it is a nice phone but it lags terribly.

Thanks for your feedback only thing that was buying my judgement was sprints poor rating on their website but most of those owners don't know about thee phone.... I come mostly from the epic and thats pretty much unbrickable theres odin and tars for the nexus too? And how easy us it to root and put cm7 on it?

anyone? please reply im going to see a nexus tomorrow and i need to know im making the right decision .. i was looking at cyanogenmod website and i dont see a stable build for the nexus s 4g only for the regular nexus s... whats the difference between stable and nightly?
Nexus is good phone, other than radio issue, which doesn't affect everyone. And don't let the CM site fool you, CM7 is stable on the 4g. Only thing still being worked on is 4g toggle in notification power controls.

I've had my nexus a for about 4 reels note and haven't had any problems yet. Its solid. I came from an evo and haven't looked back since. I even like the camera better on the nexus.
I came from the epic as well, there are odin tars for this phone to flash back to stock, allong with shaby penguins one click root methode.....its the same as the epic pretty much. Odin tars are set up a little different, there is no pit file, but there is a bootloader, phone and pda tar that you flash at the same time. One click root isnt really one click unless you modify the script, but it works pretty good.
I think the nexus s is sprint's best phone out right now. Aside from the radio issue which should be resolved with an upcoming patch from google (but sent ota by sprint), its the fastest and snappiest android phone out there.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
You really don't need to use Odin, it is mostly using fastboot and adb. You can use the tar files if you want but if you want to unroot the phone you can just flash the stock img files.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Easy to unlock the bootloader, easy to root, return to stock, and load whatever kernel or roms out there. Signal seems to be an issue but there is a fix on its way. Also Google Wallet is coming with that. Its a great phone.

Stock again

Shattered my screen yesterday, so in prep for return I re Odined to DI18 again. It went and upgraded to EC05 OTA. This is the first time my Epic has been completely stock and unrooted since I got it last year. Wonder if they will notice (or even care) about the 11115 prl...
What a weird feeling to be stock again!
Probably not

No they will not look that close and some people ended up with prl even though they had no corporate account or discount.

I care if you are rooted muahahahaha. Sadly I do not work for sprint. Lmao.

New to the Nexus S 4g! Coming from the Epic 4g!

I cracked my phone screen today on my epic 4g and the sprint rep told me it had to be a 100$ insurance claim to get a new one but offered me a new phone/free upgrade instead so I picked up the Nexus S 4g!
Was wondering what the most stable rom with best battery life for this phone is.
Interested in BLN mod for sure, but besides that, just stable(minimal bugs) and one that drains the least amount of juice.
Thanks!
Welcome old fellow epic user I would recommend crossbone if u want ics it doesn't have bln but u can flash a kernel that supports it like galados.

I will def check them both out this weekend! Thanks guys.
Congrats for getting rid of that soul crushing phone.. I had the Epic 4G for close to a year and hated most of my time with it.. Wasn't as soul crushing as the Samsung Moment I had before it but it sucked pretty good on its own right. I can only best describe it as a constant beta test.. You'll love the Nexus S and like me should convince you to never buy any phone again that isn't a Nexus...

Are you trying to say that the galaxy nexus is bad?
Or...
Do you think the galaxy nexus is not a nexus?
Either way. Your wrong.
And we're all laughing at you.

I just made the switch two days a go and am completley happy with my choice. Much better phone, and I still have one more yearly upgrade next year, so I didn't mind getting this phone for free. Already rockin AOSP ICS, and I have no regrets.
I just made the switch from the epic 4g this week myself. Can't say I miss it. This phone just plain rocks.

I can tell you that the AOSP rom of ICS based on the update is more stable and fixed all the problems and bugs I had from my stable stock GB rom. Go ICS. You'll never look back.
The epic 4g is still a good phone I've had both I gave it to my mom I've had the nexus s4g for 3 months & I like it better I feel like for now on its got to be a nexus or nothing I'm waiting on sprint to get the galaxy nexus if they ever do get it the only thing I would take from the epic 4g & add it to the nexus to make it better is the camera & 720p video but nothing else
