Just had a message in my notification bar from Sprint.
Had the little yellow Sprint icon in the top left. I pull it down and it says "Sprint Update coming soon."
I'm running EC05 from the update.zip.
I clicked on the message and it brought me to a page that showed the Sprint ID stuff and said an update in addition to Sprint ID will be coming soon.
What could it be?

Sprint just signed a deal with google for google voice. It might have something to do with that.

I received it as well via the sprint notification on the phone. Links to the same thing the text message did 3 days ago. Nothing special, means nothing.

Epicly posted using the xda app!
I was getting them every few hours even when I was on a DK28 rom (which obviously couldn't get an OTA update).
Hopefully Sprint will stfu soon.

I guess they just figured out nobody uses their voicemail b/c it blows goats. I think sprint may be getting a bit smarter, going with the current rather than paddling upstream and pissing off their loyal base.
This T-Mobile AT&T thing is a bit worrysome... but if Sprint starts partnering with Google. Well...
If they were really smart they'd be hiring dev's from sites like this and then they'd really be hip.
I received EB13 ota on day 1. Hoping to get similar results this time. Just got my phone back today from best buy. Had an incident where I went to take a picture an launched my phone about 10 ft across the bar. Gorilla glass is tough, not invincible. Phone also landed flat on the screen. Works great after the repair, though.

I just imagine that being a new Sprint commerical for the phone.
Does anyone know if rooting will stop OTA updates from being sent to the Atrix?

OTA updates are good when you have root

You shouldnt have any problem with the OTA update when rooted. You will lose root though when you install this update that is coming.

If I'm arooted and odexed the update will not take correct? Or do you get the option to install or reject anyway?

You'll get the option it just fails during install. And aroot and deodex doesn't interfere with the update

If your deodexed it will interfere with the update. You need the .odex files for it to complete the check for the update to be approved.

Wrong, I have webtop mod. I still got the update notification two days ago (I volunteered for beta test). I didn't actually update so I don't know if the update will go through or fail after the webtop mod.
supposedly there is issues with the update and rooted users? can anyone confirm or deny this?

Sorry I wasn't clear when I said it stop the update I didn't mean it would stop it from downloading it stops it from installing. Webtop mod causes update to fail during install. A couple of posts up umm (sorry I don't know your name you've commented on my posts before) the poster with the new York name said that being deodexed would also cause the update to fail. I can't confirm or deny this but that might be true as its a major change just like the webtop mod is.

Wrong. This doesn't cause any major problems, you simply lose root. There is currently no method of rooting if you update, save flashing back to 1.2.6 or 1.5.2.
I assume this is consistant with all Atrix owners. I've just GladRoot my Bell Atrix, but only so I can use setcpu. I have not modded anything else.
So, hopefully (one day) Bell might update their version of the Atrix, although its not looking good right now

Just a curiosity considering you're from Aussie Land...why did you get the Bell Atrix vs. the AT&T one? Since modding or romming wise, the Bell doesn't have much going on for it due to no SBF

There were 2 reasons
1) I was in Canada at the time skiing around the day of release (17th March), needed a phone that worked on the right bands (my T-Mobile Nexus S didn't work at all) and happened to go past a Bell store while I was grocery shopping that had them in stock for $599. So I got it and had it unlocked in store.
2) Wanted one without the AT&T branding
All in all, I probably should have gone the AT&T version. I didnt know that Bell was so crap releasing updates. Modding wise, I wasn't fussed there was no SBF. I actually don't mind the phone because it has less bloatware on it from what I have seen.
I'm happy to just have root, and it plays the games that I use with absolute smooth operation. Overall, apart from the lack of updates, I'm stoked with it.
All I get is the android guy with the "!" When I attempt the update. Anyone else get this?

Well you did end up getting a nice phone. But just an FYI for the next time you're in Canada that the Nexus S(Tmo) will work on 2 carriers, Wind and Mobilicity, as both use the HSPA 1700 frequency. Only negative is that they are currently only have towers in major metro cities.
Is this even possible? It's my old phone, and I thought this would be cool. Has it ever been tried?

60676 is currently the newest PRL update.
I know, and we've had it for a while. Just wondering why an update was sent out and why did my phone tell me it was updated if I was already running it?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No clue. From what I've read, Sprint is having issues with it.
Just happened to me, too. Makes no sense.
It's weird how only some phones does it and some phones not. My wife have an Epic as well, and her doesn't have any errors when trying to update her PRL. Hard to tell, but from what I've read, people are stating it's Sprint. Even read some people bringing in their phones to a repair center and got a replacement phone. I really don't care about PRL updates at the moment, so I don't want to bring in my phone to a repair center and being hassles by them.
happened to me too...im still on 60676 tho...the update never finished...i waited an hour, then just decided to reboot...weird...

I just manually changed it to 01115 to keep 3G roaming in Florida and those bastiches at Sprint woke me at 4AM with the signal beep to change me back to 60676!
I'm in New England and still on 60675.
When trying to update sometimes it returns an error, sometimes no new PRL found.

I heard by the end of the month but don't get your hopes up to high. Were talking about Bell here.
Just go custom rom. I've been running gingerbread on bell for the past two months.
I kind of don't want to send my phone 3rd time for a repair... I've heard that a 'Bell-friendly' bootloader prevents the sd from corrupting. That's why I stick to kc1...

Although that's been widely speculated, I don't think there's any proof of that.
More likely the failures were due to bad hardware manufactured before December 2010. But no one knows for sure.
No problem with the Gingerbread bootloader for me after a month.

I have a Bell Vibrant I got on release day in August. Manufacture date is 07/10 and I have flashed it numerous times with very few issues. I have Darky 10.1 right now and all is well. Just luck of the draw I guess.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I had a few of them die on me, it was the original secondary boot loader that was causing the issue. I've had no problems since then. I'm running Darky's 10.1 on my phone the last week and it's been pretty good. There are a few very minor bugs compared to 9.5 but generally it's very smooth.
Oh and BTW, I've flashed at least 5 bell phones with darky's 9.x and had them running for months without dying.
Ok, last question - does superoneclick root jvo? Root is a must for me, but I don't wanna flash rooted kernel (I've got trust issues, I know )...

No ****, got mine at Best Buy too. Maybe they got all the non defective ones. I used the $75 gift card for a 16GB micro sd.
To be fair though, I didn't flash mine until after bootloader update, all the corrupt sd's I read about on here scared the piss out of me.

I am running JVO now with Chainfire's CF Root but checked last night using my fiance's phone and noticed that there was a Kies update dated 28-05-2011; so, keep your fingers crossed that a new firmware version will be release really soon!
if that is Ginger for you guys can you post the modem file?
Sorry for the confusion but it was only Kies that got the update; so, no Gingerbread for I9000M as yet...
Ok I am gonna state this once and only once. I have cleaned up the thread and will be looking into past posts as well. This type of talk will not be tolerated on XDA. If you feel the need to insult each other and Calling people names, well maybe you should find somewhere else to do it. I am gonna give a warning here as normally I would just you on a vaca. Take this as my only warning. Swearing and insults will not be tolerated
Thanx, Zelendel,
I know I overreacted. But I just couldn't leave the guy's insult without an answer. The guy is a bully and bullies understand only one language.
If you read his old posts, you'll get what I mean!

So, back to the actual topic, has anyone any new info on when this will be released? I've talked to a couple Bell employees, One of which had no idea, while the other said it was out already (probably thought KC1 was 2.3). Anyway, any news?

We got 2.2 about a month to a month and a half after the initial release in the Nordic Regions. I suspect the same with this one. So around mid-June to early July but it's a guess.
If by 'Bell employee' you mean the retail shop employees, they have no idea... I asked a couple of them back in November about the froyo update and each told a different story.
I am affraid that this time we'll get the update very late. I think they will try to make 100% sure not to get into the 'december crisis' again.
