[Q] What is an "H" in the status bar? - XPERIA X8 General

I found an H, that displays sending and receiving data in my Xperia X8, similar to the 3G, but instead is an "H"... my celular plan doesn't have internet, however I can use it... in the manual doesn't name it... anybody knows what the "H" letter is?
Thank you

HSDPA, better than 3G, and faster...

If you're plan does not have unlimited mobile internet or fix MB mobile internet limit. you should disable the data traffic, or else your bill will be huge.

Now I see the contract:
500 free sms for the 1st month
1gb for 30 days, for 3 months
Etc etc...
Now I understand... I have 3 x 1gb/month of free internet.
Thank you!

I'm on a $10 Unlimited plan. I use to have the $5.99 t-zone plan also and was using it on my previous phones with 3G access, so yeah your t-zone plan should work just fine.

That's insane, I'm in Australia on the 3 network. My carrier unlocked x10a is $0 per month on the $99 unlimited plan, I get unmetered phone calls, unmetered text and mms, voicemail and 4GB of mobile data.
America's are expensive as hell!
Yea Canadian cell phone plans are pretty BS. I pay about $75 a month for: 250 daytime min
Unlimited evenings and weekends
Caller ID, Voicemail, Unlim Text Msg pack
500mb data
Luckily im on a grandfathered plan with rogers but this is still too high IMO.

Wow you are getting hosed as well. I pay $52 a month for the same plan I have unlimited text as well, but I'm sure you do in that as well.
That's loco, I mean there's 34,160,000 people in Canada and 22,412,633 in Australia, I mean that's 10million or so people, but I can't see how they can justify that much of a difference with the mobile plan pricing as I'm sure the infrastructure is almost the same...
Although how fast is your theoretical broadband max? Cause ours is only 24mbps

UMTS.HSPA band 1.4.8
band 1 = 2100MHz
band 4 = 1700MHz AWS (what T-mobile USA uses for their 3G)
band 8 = 900MHz

Sprint tab question...

May sound dumb as I have tried to find the answer numerous times, but does the sprint galaxy tab allow sms texts to be sent/received?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Sure does. I have one and I send & receive sms/mms just fine. I am not sure about the $24 data plan but the $59 data plan includes unlimited sms/mms.
How does it work? I.e. I use my same phone #and everything? Or get a new one....
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Your data plan applies a new phone# to the device but it is only activated for data/sms/mms. You cant call it. Only send txt's to/from it.
The builtin messaging app works like any other sms app.
K. Thanks for the info. Last question, which data plan should I get? If I'm not mistaken, they have a 2gb 29.99 or a 5gb 59.99?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would say get the one that works for your data habits and supports your wallet.
Not sure if the $24 plan includes sms/mms.

I'm curious as to whether or not there is a way to track data usage mid-billing cycle. Anyone know of a way?
I have an EVO 4G for myself on one line, and just opened up a second line for the $29 2GB plan for my Tab. I'm planning to use the EVO for tethering to the Tab when I get close to my data limit on my Tab. I just need to know when/how I'll get close to that limit.
When I log into my sprint account, it shows me my real-time (at least very recent) usage of txt and data. Yours should do the same.

Weird. All I see are tabs for Overview, Whenever Minutes, Weeknight Minutes, Weekend Minutes, and Downloads. There's nothing for "Data" at all.

There's no person watching over your data so there is no leniency. It's automated. You get 5GB on 4G/3G, after that you will receive an official text notifying you of your data overage and that your speeds will be reduced. You will then be reduced to Edge/GPRS speeds until the end of your billing cycle (unlimited). The rumors you heard about the separation of HSPA+ & HSPA is wrong. You can check your data using the T-Mobile My Account app. No need to log on to the website.
Data: 136.4819 / Unlimited Megabytes is mine currently so I'm assuming I divide that number by 1024 to get my measurement in GB correct? So in that case I've used less than 1

How do you do that? On my My Mobile app texts and minutes are listed, but there is no sign of the data use.
I wonder if it's because I'm contractless (Even More Plus)?

I would say either t-mobile or Orange as they use each others network if you lose signal and at no extra cost.

GPRS & 3g also as far as i can tell.....
The reason they did this is 'i suspect' because there coverage is crap.
They don't seem to like investing in signal stations, even with the T-Mobile deal my experience of coverage with Orange is not good, but they are cheaper then most.
I will be dropping the Orange plan like a stone as soon as the contract is up, and am switching to 3-Net.
This because no matter where i, or people known to me go with an Orange phone there never quite seems to be a strong or stable signal, this T-Mobile Orange interchanging, to me seems to have made little or no difference, i think they were broadly sharing the same stations anyway, to me it just looks like marketing, 'we have more coverage because we work together' rubbish, in fact the opposite seems true.
It works with everything. Can't fault it tbh. If you choose t-mobile, you just text yes to 2121 and wait for text reply and phone auto changes network when needed. I'm on T-Mobile but have phone set to use t-mobile_Orange manually as it better signal and get full 3g coverage all time at no extra cost.
I was with 3 but signal started dropping off every so often then nothing. Called up to query it and was told that 3 stopped paying orange to use their network when weak signal so managed to get out of contract .
This won't happen with t-mobile orange as the 2 firms merged in Sept 2010.

Whereabouts in the Lake District are you? My experience is that Orange seem to be the best network in the Lakes. I'm from Preston btw so this is only experience from the many visits I have made.
[DELETED]
Asda Mobile (vodafone based network) is the best so far. In area's where i live is loads of black spots and i can still use my phone, its funny watching people on a train going HELLO HELLO f**k and i am still chatting away they are cheap too 8p per minute to all phones and 4p a text.
I'm with T-mobile, they give me a generous 1GB internet buffer, and ACTUAL unlimited texts. Signal's usually fine, as people have said, you can share Orange's signal. It is 2G ONLY though, so no 3G. Although you can still get EDGE or something like that for 2G data, it's really slow though.
The problem with o2 is you pay x pounds a month for 500mb or 1gb of data and if you go over it it is 3 pounds (can't find the icon on this gingerbread Keyboard - anyone want to port the HTC one to a galaxy tab?) Per MB whilst on T-Mobile you get unlimited web browsing but there is a 500 MB fair usage for streaming video (YouTube) and downloading. Files (you can wait until you are on wifi) and they stop you streaming and downloading when you reach 500mb and don't charge you from what I read on their site. Try getting a payg. Sim and seeing which network. Has best coverage

hey guys over UK.
have u got any 3G networks with unlimited data usage (download).
if so, can u add a note of cost per month.
T-mobile is deffo 3g and no charge for data when on orange network. I queried this. Was 2g only to start but now 3g and data included. Been in since Jan and never charged any extra. I'm contracted T-Mobile and use orange most of time as its better signal out in the sticks

I`m on T mobile payg and got a"Booster" which is unlimited internet for £20 for 6 months, and as previous posters have said there is no problem anywhere I`ve been with the signal.Just switch on roaming and the phone picks up the strongest signal, although by default it goes for the T mobile one.
And as mentioned before there is a fair usage policy for the data, but I think you would have to be using youTube heavily or something similar to get a problem. In my local T mobile shop they said they send you a polite letter asking you to cut down first, but if you persist using heavily they would then limit you,but as i only do the occasional browsing and e-mails it has not bothered me
any VODAFONE UK members.
how is the network. is there 3G and what about data plans.
I'm on t mob and for me the signals always fine check out the company's websites for covrerage checkers...
I get (for £10 a month)
100 free texts - although its always unlimited cos of flexible booster!
100 min

I think the 200mb data is pricing at $10. The price seems right for those needed mobile connection and are not big on bandwidth intense internet activities. For me, I only use Google map with traffic, emails, HTC Weather, and regular information look up on my HTC HD2. Used about 80mb a month.
