Drmacinyasha has created an awesome page where we can keep track of twits posted by toast, cyanogen and shinzul. Great way for those that don't have Twitter, to.keep up with their twits. As usual, we can still discuss the progress in this thread.

Progress Report
So, what is the status?
"Shinzul Wimax status: well I tested the alpha successfully but our other testers aren't seeing the same results... @toastcfh is working on it"
This was shinzul's last official twitter update regarding development. The last thing he mentioned in the deleted post was that he was going to take a break (well-deserved) until Monday. I'm sure the whole group has been playing with it though. We'll definitely hear something come Monday.

OK to be as discrete as possible:
Both Toast and Shin have links in their sigs that we can use so there's no reason to
ask questions about a donate link.
As for confirmation numbers ... they also have PMs, so we can use those.
Now for calling a person who posts his confirmation number a troll: Some of us are men of our word ... so if you want to consider reinforcement of our commitment as "trolling" ... that's your problem, and I suggest some serious self evaluation.

Good point....I would just leave this alone and let Toast start a thread when the alpha becomes available. Then if people want to donate they can provide a link in their signature. Also he has the power to delete posts to keep the thread on track. If you want updates join twitter. That's how cyanogen does it.

Guys relax, HondaCop is not saying you are not allowed to donate to toast and shinzul. He is saying that this thread is not an appropriate place to discuss said donation.
Firstly, why should person A care if person B gave money to person C?
Secondly, that was (arguably) one of the reasons the thread got deleted/locked.
This is simply a place that he was hoping they would come to post things for us non-twitter folks. Personally I don't like twitter either and can't really understand programming lingo used so having a laymans' version would be nice. Granted this sounds like it's simply going to be a "when we have it we have it" deal.
Of course my sense of caring is quite slim as I have to drive a half hour to get 4g, I am much more interested in full HDMI output.

This and people report them. I've reported two myself because if I want to watch drama, I'd turn on Jerry Springer or Maury. I come here to learn, see what's new with Android developements, get updates on CM7, MIUI, and the like, and maybe even contribute here and there.
If the HMDI threads can keep out the "Down with Teamwin" and "Orrebmas is two-faced" crap, and maintain meaningful dialog, then the threads will live a nice long life...we'll see what happens to this one.

That guy and team win have achieved awesome things lets just accept the greatness and enjoy our evos. Who cares, ooreammbas gave us hdmi, teamwin gave us 4g the 2 single most important things on our evo. I support them all man.

[GPL- Violation] Full HDMI Mirroring(Released)--(NEW UPDATED APP) claims GPL violations. My question to the admins is this. Is the beta apk posted in violation of GPL or the modified kernels or both? If it was the kernel then all that had to be done was have the posted kernels removed. If it was the apk. then there are a hell of a lot of threads that need to be closed on this site.
My personal opinion with regards to this is, the rules are black and white so follow them and enforce them AT ALL TIMES. If there is any confusion/requests (in this case there's a whole lot) as to what the violation is, cite examples of the offending file or post. If no example is given then is looks like typical political BS. As far as "who stole code from whom", post code or GTFO.
To all devs. If you claim to be working on something post links to, or examples of progress or don't post. When you don't show examples it makes the thread/post look like vaporware or BS.
To members. Posting nothing more than "cool" or some of useless drivel makes no sense in a dev thread. If you like then there's a "thanks" button, use it and move on. Dev threads are for test results, bug reports and feature requests. If you want to chat about something in the dev thread there's a "General" forum just a click away. If a general discussion thread is started then request that the OP post a link to it in the first post.

I believe you misunderstood that post. What he meant was that people who already donated would not have to pay for the final release of the app; not the beta. The beta that is out now is the same whether you have donated or not and is available to anyone.
@Lokifish: It is the SBC HDMI kernel that is in violation of GPL. There is a stock HTC kernel where the only change are the HDMI drivers that were added to it which is not in violation of anything. The app is not in violation of anything, either. A member of this site posted the kernel here after orrebmas had removed the link to it voluntarily to not be in violation of any GPL rules.

That's my thought as well, but instead of closing the thread and deleting everything all it would have taken is the removal of one file to be in compliance. It's akin to formatting a HDD because you find one wallpaper offensive, very childish IMHO.
Off topic but related. TW's development is very tight lipped and from the two vids I've seen I've already found flaws, this doesn't benefit development.

I think that due to the drama that has been circling around anything related to Evo HDMI lately, there is little to no tolerance from the mods for anything that doesn't 100% follow the rules. I myself am partly to blame, because I have been beyond outspoken with my opinions. However, I'm ready to let it go and hopefully the other protagonists to this soap opera are, too.
Maybe someone can start a new thread and it can be kept clean. I'm not going to do it seeing as I am probably not the most popular person on the XDA Evo forum right now, but I think someone should.

Him not releasing the kernel source changes makes it a GPL violation regardless.
Gotta pay to play, be a true citizen and report the denizens of the internet for GPL violations!
ooremmbas's project is not open sourced ... and he fully intends to release it as a payed product. He's made no mystery about that. Even if it's not in literal violation of a certain rule ... it's certainly against the spirit of XDA, so I couldn't care less if it gets shutdown.

The gpl is more than just a rule made up by xda, it is a legal agreement you agree to in order to use the linux kernel.

If that's the case then there are a lot of threads on XDA that need to be deleted. Actually lets follow precedence and just lock and delete the whole site. This whole thing goes deeper than just his work, it's the "pick and choose" application of forum rules and GPL.

What are your options then? Are you going to support a closed development project just because you'll get the app for free? From what little I've seen of the alternative it's already flawed but find me the thread where it's discussed so I can voice this. You can't.

That's not true .. TW has NextGen and NextGen 2 .. get it from ROM Manager.
There are people from Team Whiskey who are very cool and helpful.
Not sure why sombionix is singled out here. That guy is a ghost. If you like the new ROMs, you should change the title.

Instead of hanging on one persons nuts why don't you thank the whole team whiskey. You might want to take into consideration that other team whiskey members might read this. I am not saying that his work isn't good but you shouldn't single out one person on a whole team when all of them have a hand in developing the roms.

Sorta was I was getting at... just tried to be nicer about it, ha.
Here's an idea. Showing that your thankful is nice but it's done everyday. Mostly as a means of being polite but you can really thank a person or a team of developers by donating. Many of us developers have very busy lives. Then we come home from our jobs just to get private messages and read stuff like "I'm having problems" and "When is the next update?" etc, etc. Obviously they are going to concentrate on what's more important to them. Family, friends, work, religion, other hobbies, etc. Reading a bunch of thank you's are nice don't get me wrong... but it's the e-mail from Paypal that really makes us smile. Now am I saying that it's why we (developers) do what we do? Absolutely not! It's a hobby for us really. And it's a hobby that we decide to share (not sell) with the community. But it stops being a hobby when we start working just to please everybody else. Many of us give it up after a while because we get tired of all of the endless requests, complaints, problems, etc and let's face it... when you have 100 thank you's and 1 complaint... you tend to concentrate more on that complaint because you want to please everybody which obviously cannot be done.
Guys. I [me. My opinion. Not yours. Not hating. MY opinion] did not like frost. I am running nextgen but it is just missing that indescribable something. That something is usually in som's roms.
So I thanked him on the internet and got **** on for doing it.
Congrats in your life, thanks TW for all the work and i'm looking forward to see what he's cooking up next.

Okay I understand where the op is going with this but at the same time, any rom that sombionix creates, he does not do so on his own. You have to understand though op, he has a TEAM of people that are helping him. That's why you got flamed almost instantly, because you can't just thank one person on a WHOLE TEAM for a piece of work that came from ALL OF THEM. Even if he was the biggest contribution of that one rom, he still had a TEAM of people helping him. Get it now ? Also hence the name TEAM WHISKEY, he doesn't have that in his signature for no reason.

It's the internet and I'll troll if I want to.
I donate whenever possible (although I admit its not much or as often as I would like) and suggest everyone else do as well. I sometimes try to donate to one person specifically just to find that all their donation links are for the team they dev for and they don't have a personal one. I kinda like that cuz it supports the whole dev team but at the same time sometimes I do wanna give thanks to a specific person. My first ROM I ever flashed was Nero and I will never forget that.
I really hope nobody takes offense to this thread as I believe it was created with no harm in mind. I do appreciate all the hard werk our Devs, themers, hackers, and hobbiest's do for us here at XDA for our beloved Samsung Vibrant. Good luck!

His kernel thread was closed due to a lack of source being provided, in order to keep the site compliant with the law. Some jerk took that to mean he was banned or punished or in some way unwelcome at XDA, which is false. The OP deserves a nice temp ban for having such a glaring attitude towards the administrators here at XDA who are doing their best to keep this site running. But, for someone with one post, I can't see that doing any good. Best to just ignore the troll till the admins remove this thread.

That actually seems reasonably fair... Everyone is angry at Acer for doing that, I don't see why Thor should be held to a different standard. Having said that, his kernel was great... I hope he comes back and plays according to the rules.
With any luck this was all a big misunderstanding, and he just hadn't started a GIT yet but was about to, or something like that.

As I say, let's just hope this was all a big misunderstanding. Thor was asked for his source a few times in that thread, and he never responded to those requests publicly. I don't know what happened behind the scenes though, as you say. Perhaps a mod can clarify?

This isn't anything new even here on XDA, and as far as being legally compliant, show us the cease and desist order, please. In any event that's no cause to get a poster banned and XDA had plenty of occurrences on significantly less open platforms where they didn't ban the poster, but locked the content due to C&Ds.
Thor did significant amounts of work here to get us what we want. Acer and pretty much 100% of corporate industries are limited to what they can do or say because of much greater liability of what they produce. One user/fan/coder posting here not so much liability as none of it is anywhere near official.

This is crazy about one month ago we didn't have recovery, Then Thor arrived and fixed that he is very important to the development of the a 500, Lets hope this is temporary, Without devs like Thor we get nowhere on our devices, I have seen in the past when devs have fights with mods the devs leave for good. Its almost like they get jealous of the work they do.

Once its in RC don't they give it to the official team for merging? that's what i thought happened from my understanding.
There are many devices still in beta status (Pyramid, Doubleshot, Shooter, HP Touchpad, Optimus 3D, several more) that we will be promoting to release or release-candidates in the next few weeks when the code is merged to our main branch.

That's from the official Cyanogenmod site, which has no affiliation with the development of CM7 for the Atrix.
Yeah, but the current team is responsible for making the atrix compatible with cm7 (thus, they're doing most of the work). Once that's done, they'll be giving it to the official team so they can support it.

I'm pretty sure the dev team has said all they need to do is get the fingerprint scanner and webtop working then they can submit it to cyanogen mod to try and get official status, since before cyanogen will accept any port it must not break any functionality that the stock rom had

The webtop might take a while since it seems they have to design their own version of it

Exactly why this is such an ambitious effort. Some people might not have the fortitude (or the patience!) for this phone's technology to be fully realized. For me, I'm kind of excited to own such a unique device and hope the developers aren't discouraged by such a challenge.

This is probably a huge factor along with the massive number of idiots who fail to read directions properly and end up with bootloops and blame the dev's for making faulty software.
I installed CM7 on my Atrix and now it's running too fast. I can't keep up with it. Also the benchmark scores are too high, and the battery lasts too long. Plz fix.

I think a lot of the trolls here are just ungrateful...they constantly complaining about things not work like they want them to work and they are constantly bugging the devs about when when when! These same trolls do not take a mere breath to stop and say thank you to the devs that work hard for free. No one has EVER promised them anything, but they complain like it is the devs duty to please them. Somedays I wish I were back in the Aria forum because the community was very helpful and the devs felt welcomed.

Since you still don't realise what the word "troll" actually means, let me clarify for you.
A troll is someone who posts inflammatory extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
ie the very people you are complaining about are not, in fact, trying to provoke people, but rather are just uninformed people asking for help. In fact, you are the one closer to a troll then they are since you keep insulting them instead of directing them to the right answer, potentially provoking them into an outlash of anger.

Sadly I don't think they'll be having Webtop on Cyanogenmod. Last I heard it was too much work.
if cm7 allowed me to play my movies from my phone on tv when i am away from home i would be on it like a fat kid on a smartie!

We dont sit here and update or post all day because its un needed, exhausting on its own, and frusterating to the point of cursing. I can once a week come to this thread and after going through 20+ pages find maybe one thing worth replying to, like this time and the gentleman that requested a few pages back that i call this kang and not official ?!? Why because we have waited till we deemed ready to merge ? Everything we released has been stable and useable i have not touched another rom in months, we will merge shortly, it will be up todate 2.3.7 or what ever uptodate is than. We are all running 2.3.7 curently , there has not been another release because IOO there has not been enough added fixes that we felt the need to do so yet. Mostly we have been waiting on FP. I have it working 100% fine actually better than stock, but it haz created a bug with calls when enabled for an unknown reason. I have been working on the same bug for over 2 weeks . Once again iwasted more time i could have spent on the bug to reply to those of you that felt i needed to "give updates" to a 170 page hell hole where no one reads in the first place Anyhow we appreciate your all excited , so are we , mostly so we can stop working keep in mind we want itcompleted and working obiously more than you do so either relax and wait or keep yelling inhere like a jakaninny IDGAF, but i will post updates when i am ready as will the other team members. End of story
