I've read on Androidandme.com that the MSM7X30 will be coupled with the adreno 205
Quote :"The new Adreno 205 offers about 4x the graphics performance of the previous Snapdragon (Adreno 200), which is around the equivalent of a PowerVR SGX535"
http://androidandme.com/2010/08/new...ot-a-little-bit-faster-msm7230-cpu-confirmed/
Is this to be expected or are reports the reports of using the old Adreno 200 correct?
Either way very excited for new T-mobile hardware with a keyboard
Check this out
Check out what AndroidSPIN says about it
comparison of the 200 in current snapdragons and the new 205
Crap, might have to wait for this. I know it will be popular! I can't image anything in 3D on this.

Information I'm getting is its 1ghz, with an on-board Adreno 205 GPU.
But nothing is confirmed yet, so who knows.
hopefully some sources can leak us some official specs soon and we can find out what this puppy does. i will talk to my htc friend and see what he can find out for us
Im also seeing official Price of $199 with 2yr contract, $499 without.
yeah, you can see at the top of the pic on tmonews that the page was meant for internal use so i would suspect that to be the final answer on price, and as far as the specs we have so far 500 seems to be a fair price compared to some other phones

So one question, didnt Google say that Gingerbread will only work on 1ghz cpus? Does that mean that the G2 wouldnt get Gingerbread?
those specs have been debunked, and this should be better than having faster CPU since we have great GPU
Plus, we'll be able to OC this baby to 1 GHZ or more anyways. This is gonna be awesome! I kind of wish I hadn't gotten the MTS now. Well, I got it when it first came and G1 was on its last figurative leg anyways. At the time, I had no idea the G2 would be coming out 3 months later. Oh well, I'll end up selling this one or keep it as a backup...
Very interesting... This could be a noob question but do you think you could overclock a gpu for better graphics performance...?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I keep telling myself that it will perform better but I can't convince myself that that's enough...
Gingerbread min reqs?
Someone above said the 1ghz processor requirement for gingerbread (NOT overclocked to 1ghz) is debunked. Where? Is that official? Would be blasphemy to release the G2 without adequate specs to get gingerbread...

absolutely no way that either htc or t-mobile would release an android phone that is not upgradeable to the next iteration of the OS.

It was debunked by Google themselves. It was only the suggested clock speed.

It's just a Desire Z renamed as the EVO Shift to ride off of the EVO's marketing. Wouldn't exactly call it the EVO 2.

God damn I hate this thank you button, anyway I was trying to reply and I hit the thank you button by accident.
Anyway, I bet you that by the end of 2011 there will be an evo 2 and I bet that by the end of 2012 there will be an evo 3. My point is anyone can make a broad generalization, its all about the specifics. Now if the person said 5 months ago that it will have a slide out keyboard with a 3.6" screen with a 2nd gen snapdragon running 800mhz then thats different.
Related question...does anyone have any idea what Sprint devices will be out in early June 2011 when us launch day people will be eligible for upgrade? Seems like we knew about the EVO/supersonic for months and months before release. I wouldn't mind a 4G tablet...

What? Can you not read? It's not the EVO 2. It's just a different model with a slide out keyboard, and no hardware improvements at all. In fact, it's the opposite of a hardware improvement; it's got an 800MHz processor.
The EVO 2 will probably have a dual-core and better GPU to fit the requirements of 3.0

How many times does it need to be said that the 800 MHz CPU in the newer HTC phones are better. Plus the GPU is not absolute crap.
I bet you the EVO 2 will have the same 2nd gen Qualcomm as the current HTCs. And then two months later HTC will release dual cores. And although I do believe that Honeycomb will require a decent GPU, there are no known requirements.

Don't think anyone is denying that the new internals aren't a step up, as that's obviously the case. But also not quite sure who would honestly see it as a second Gen Evo. I would personally hope that HTC would really take advantage of next Gen dual core CPUs and make a true Evo successor. A man can dream but only time will tell. I would hope to see no keyboard as well...for obvious reasons.

A) Its not the EVO 2 its the EVO shift. You are correct
B) How is a 800mhz processor that runs better than the Snapdragon not an improvement? Believe that it is supposed to have the 205 GPU instead of the 200, that's an improvement as well.
C) If the CPU and the GPU are both BETTER, how can you say it doesn't have any hardware improvements? It should be a sound device, very capable, I'm sure they'll sell a ton of them, I've always thought HTC had better build quality than Samsung, (because they do).

You are totally correct the EVO shift4G is a cdma port of the G2 with a different screen so yes it is better in alot of ways, but EVO2 it is not. as for the 4g tab there is one comming code name right now is Shift4G not EVO Shift but just plain old Shift specs are varied right now so there are no confirmed specs right now

That's fake. That particular chip isn't due for about another year.
Still should be a good phone though. Like the EVO (FFC + "4G") + updated CPU/GPU, what looks like a Desire HD like aluminum casing, more storage, and 50% more RAM.
Looks really cool but I dont buy it.

Because he said so and its his opinion. If you dont agree (and we all know you dont mr iphone i love apple guy) then so be it. But he didn't ask you for your opinion, so why are you trying to start some more drama. Seems to try to go out of your way to try and tear down the EVO alot, every phone has to be better than the evo according to you. But guess what...NOONE cares what you think.

There are opinions and then there are facts.
-Better second generation 45nm 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU with 3-4x more powerful GPU.
-7 more GBs of internal storage plus a included 32 GB micro SD (compared to the 8GB that came with the EVO or dropping at least $50+ for one).
-Seems to have the better unibody aluminium casing of the Desire HD.
-Updated default Sense software.
-Add in all the usual stuff the EVO has 8MP/1.3MP main/front cameras, kickstand, LTE instead of WiMax, and DNLA instead of HDMI.
-And likely to be borrowed from the Desire HD but not announced yet: 256 MB more RAM and a better SLCD display.
It's hard to argue that the phone itself isn't better. But of course, defy the EVO in anyway and it's all distorted opinions. Right.

Haha yeah seriously talk about some butthurt. Evo is my favorite phone of the 2010 lineup across all carriers but comeon....its CPU/GPU combo has been available since 2008. As in, available to OEMs since the G1 was new and available in consumer products since mid-2009. Not exactly cutting edge. And remember Adreno200 sucks major balls, renders 22mil triangles/sec vs 90mil on nice PowerVRs (Galaxy S). 65nm chip is old and busted compared to 45nm new hotness. Etc etc etc.
See what I'm getting at? Evo is feature packed. Has all sorts of sweet things. Just look at it as the whole package rather than looking at each part individually.
And getting butthurt cause technology is moving along and doesnt necessarily support your purchase choices is retarded. Its a damn gadget. Having some sense of arbitrary brand/model loyalty simply cause you spent $500 on a gadget is retarded too. My next phone purchase will be whatever tickles my pickle, I dont give a rats ass who makes it or what its called. Evo loyalty? Sexy as it is, this phones gonna be on Craigslist as soon as I feel theres enough change to warrant an upgrade, and I wont think twice about it.
Everyones being hyping the evo shift and quite frankly im not all that impressed with it if it had a front facing camera and at least 1ghz processor i would have though of getting it. Ive seen verizons lineup and I was pretty blown away especially the motorola bionic dual core processor 2ghz what?!!! Hopefully sprint will get their act together and say ok guys we need to release the evo 2 stat!

We will probably see something at ctia, so it can look like the big draw of the show.
Probably won't be an Evo 2... but rather some other crappy name HTC puts on its phone. I wish they named their phones better. It would be better for them in a marketing point of view, cause all of their phones just seem so random (they create the pool of Android phones with random names and bad GPUs, lol).
Anyway, I love my Evo, just wish it was better in some areas (screen, camera, GPU)... and that's all I'm looking for in an upgrade.
CTIA is usually where Sprint shines.

If anyone read any of the stats on the evo shift, they would clearly see it's better in every aspect (as long as you dont mind no Front facing cam, and 5mb rear cam). The 800mhz is wayyyyyyyy better than the 1ghz the evo has, has more updated software all the way around. So they made the screen smaller probably to accomodate for the added thickness of having a physical keyboard. You guys need to realize it's not all about the specs all the time.. HTC knew exactly what they were doing when they put out that phone.
There wont be a evo 2....there is supposed to be the htc sabor coming out that is going to be the upgrade of the evo....google it
^As far as I know the HTC Sabor isn't real. At least no one has said anything substantial about it, and certainly nothing has been confirmed (unless you read Ozcarguide........)
Anyway I'm expecting to hear something at ctia. Not expecting an "Evo 2" per se, but at least a top-notch smartphone for sprint to lead with in 2011

No, it still is.
Keep in mind we're talking about Sprint specifically and not all carriers.
The iPhone rumors are just that.
And yes, it's just logic that [due to no CDMA exclusivity] the iPhone will come to Sprint at some point [and all carriers]
But the fact is that Sprint is going to have the next generation of phones come out in summer.
They always do.
It's more important now..more than ever before.
And it would just be the silliest...most retarded business decision in the history of business decisions to NOT follow up the highest selling phone in carrier history with a phone that is updated.
Maybe it won't be HTC, but you bet it will be dual-core and the same basic size etc of the Evo.

No, the Evo shift is actually slightly better than the Epic.
Although you're correct that the Evo Shift much improved over the Evo.
The Evo Shift IS better than the Evo, spec wise.
It has the updated core [top of the line til the tegra 2 series at CES]
It has a GPU 4x more powerful than the Evo's.
The core in the Evo Shift is 45 nm as opposed to 65nm [thus much better battery life with more power]
And, as I have said in the past, clock speed is irrelevant.
...much like the Pentium 4 3.06 ghz core is NOT faster than the i7 core that run at 2.53 GHz....

Their updates generally come in the Summer... [Pre June 09, Evo June 10 etc]
This is "delayed" versus say Verizon who gets them shortly after CES.
But it's not the big deal that people try to play it off as.
I just read about this and thought it was interesting. Certainly provides another awesome alternative in Sprint's ever growing Android line up.

Kingdom is the $50 phone option for bad credit, poor people.
Or the doesn't like super big badass phone but wanted one with some pep
Interesting . . . when I first heard about the Kingdom possibly being the EVO3d I figured it would include things too powerful for a flawless port to my current EVO.
Looking at the specs they have laid out for that, I imagine that a flawless port should be quite possible if Virus and crew keep up their awesome work.
So a new phone that's just a squeak better than the evo? I mean it does have the qHD screen so that alone might make it worth it if the price is right.
I would totally rock that device. Although my real intent is to get the 3d.

I OC my phone to 1152, so its pretty much the same as this phone stock lol. So yea besides the slight bump and ram and a sharper screen it's an EVO 1.5.
I don't think I could go back to a 4" screen.
Its not the same as ocing an evo though. Its a second Gen processer like how the shift beats the evo even though its clocked lower.

Sprint's Droid Inc 2?
I'm guessing that this is Sprint's alternative to Verizon's Droid Incredible 2. The thing I am confused about is that I keep seeing that it runs on the MSM7630. I thought that it was an 800MHz chip?

It's probably the same chip overclocked to 1.2GHz.
That chip runs at three speeds... 800 1ghz and 1.3 ghz. Probably the 1.3 ghz version under clocked.
