I just read about this and thought it was interesting. Certainly provides another awesome alternative in Sprint's ever growing Android line up.
http://mobile.engadget.com/2011/05/05/htcs-kingdom-destined-for-sprint-now-with-less-blurrycam-and-m/
Kingdom is the $50 phone option for bad credit, poor people.
Or the doesn't like super big badass phone but wanted one with some pep
Interesting . . . when I first heard about the Kingdom possibly being the EVO3d I figured it would include things too powerful for a flawless port to my current EVO.
Looking at the specs they have laid out for that, I imagine that a flawless port should be quite possible if Virus and crew keep up their awesome work.
So a new phone that's just a squeak better than the evo? I mean it does have the qHD screen so that alone might make it worth it if the price is right.
I would totally rock that device. Although my real intent is to get the 3d.

I OC my phone to 1152, so its pretty much the same as this phone stock lol. So yea besides the slight bump and ram and a sharper screen it's an EVO 1.5.
I don't think I could go back to a 4" screen.
Its not the same as ocing an evo though. Its a second Gen processer like how the shift beats the evo even though its clocked lower.

A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.

+1111....this port is going to kick some major behind...i have been following his thread since day 1. a gingerbread/sense 3.0 with working 4g...say goodbye to cm7
Wow... no need to take that personally... pretty sure the poster meant good by cm for their own use... not in general. Wow...

Sprint's Droid Inc 2?
I'm guessing that this is Sprint's alternative to Verizon's Droid Incredible 2. The thing I am confused about is that I keep seeing that it runs on the MSM7630. I thought that it was an 800MHz chip?

It's probably the same chip overclocked to 1.2GHz.
That chip runs at three speeds... 800 1ghz and 1.3 ghz. Probably the 1.3 ghz version under clocked.

been talking to alot of people and i get mixed responses. some like that **** faced windows phone 7 that i think was drawn up by a 2nd grader.
some want to wait for the next gen palm pre, which i may look into as well depending on specs.
epic or evo... these two are on the top of my list!
or wait and see what other droid phones sprint comes out with by 2011. aka hero2 or desire.
so anyways what do you think might be your next move from the hero?
I don't want an Evo..too damn big..and I don't want another clunky phone with a physical keyboard after getting used to my touch keyboard on my hero, coming from 5 TP2's....So..I guess a Desire would be nice if Sprint ever gets it,or a Hero 2 if that ever comes out..A little bit bigger screen would be nice with HD capabilities along with a 2g processor and 1g of memory

Yeap. I'd probably ditch Android in favor of a new WebOS phone too, as long as the hardware wasn't absolute crap like the Pre. That's the only reason I went Android actually, because of the damn hardware on the Pre.

Well.. I'll get whatever next-gen HTC phone comes out. My upgrade date isn't til April because I splurged before my upgrade date to get the Hero on launch day. I'm gonna get whatever replaces the Evo eventually.
Check these out this is why I held off on the the EVO or the other phones from this years second quarter. I cant wait for this.... as for the power think of the dual/quad core laptops and netbooks they have, they have power on demand and then the processor scale the freq back when not in use.

There's an old saying you should remember..
" It's better to have it and not need it,than to need it and not have it.."
Once you go to a larger screen, you will need more horse power under the hood.I have a co-worker who has to have the absolute latest thing out when it comes to cell phones..The guy has about 10 of them and a couple on different carriers..He has a Evo..and is getting a Epick as soon as he can..that's just hoiw he is..but he thinks my rooted Hero is da ****s and is ever bit as fast as his Evo the way it is stock. While I do like the large screen on it for viewing things,to me it comes down to the form factor of it. I just don't like how it feels in my hand and feels ungainly to me when I try to make a call on them..But hey..to each his own as they say.. I don't know what you can oc a Evo or Epick to,but I guess that's a option too if you need to bump it up some

The Evo doesnt overclock much. The highest kernel Iv personally seen was 1.2 something and most ppls phone would freeze when clocked to it. Mine can run right under 1.2ghz stable.

Cyanogen posted a post on Twitter himself about this ! It's actually quit sick! HAHA but sorry to be a buzzkill but it is a little off topic for the forum.
Just tryin to keep up this amazing flowing forum we have now
Its easy, the newer snapdragon chips, (the 205s i think?) are a smaller fabrication size so they are easier to cool and do not draw as much electricity thus you can overclock them higher if you want... lets face it, our n1's arnt getting anymore younger
How high you can OC the cpu is only HALF the equation. The other part is stability.
"stability ", to me, means being able to use that speed all day long, running my usual stuff (including games) and not having issues (that are due to OC'ing.
Don't be jealous, our N1 is almost a year old and can still keep up with the latest and greatest... and don't forget, the N1 is Google's darling. We get the goodies first and in its purest form
(Before carriers mangle them)

Im not sure what's worse, pantech or kyocera. I think pantech phones would be alright if the UI was better.

Pantech & TFT kinda detracted from the wow factor too.
I oddly like the name "Vega Racer". Why? I'm scared to ask myself.

I said this a couple of weeks ago. By the time the 3D comes out there will be 3 or 4 more phones with better specs set to drop a couple weeks/months later. Look at the Samsung phone that just leaked on Tmobile.. the Hercules.

Not sure this is exactly a new thing, across the board as a whole. Always something better around the corner. And what's there to be bothered about something being better than something you don't even own yet ... ? Whether or not it is 'entirely' better or 'marginally' better.

Yup the evo 3d is undervolted to 1.2 ghz for minimum battery drain but will be overclocked soon enough, just look at the g2 overclock threads to see the potential qualcomm chips have.
After a year with my evo, I believe I can easily wait until next year to upgrade since every phone coming out has specs bumps and nothing else . Just because a better spec laptop comes out doesn't mean to run out and get it.
It will be hard but I'm sure ill hold off on the evo 3d and get the next gen evo next july.
What's the point of this thread? The EVO3D has a better screen, higher resolution, and although the clock speed is 1.2 gigahertz, it will easily be able to overclock significantly higher.
The G2, as someone else mentioned, has been overclocked up to 2 gigahertz. A G2, which has an older chipset and has a stock speed of merely 800 MHz.
Well, I have a person that is offering me an evo that is completely rootable, in exchange for my epic.. I am kind of on the fence here about this one. Evo is a better phone. Plus official gingerbread and all sorts of kernels.

If you're gonna trade UP, do a 3devo, not a 2 generation old cpu on evo. That's called "downgrading" regardless of ROM community.
Basically it doesn't matter since both phones are at the end of their life, so even if you do trade you probably won't have the phone 3 months from now....

Epic blows the evo away hardware wise and were about to get gingerbread and cm7 etc etc etc and our developers are pretty solid IMO. I wouldn't do it personally. My gf has an evo and I've set hers all up and I def prefer my epic

Epic's SAMOLED screen tops Evo's washed out display
Epic has hardware keyboard, Evo does not
Epic has high quality 5MP cam, Evo has cheaper quality 8MP

Those are the reason I choose my Epic over an Evo any day.
Also...(although this might be more of an opinion) we might have less ROM's but they def make it up with their awesome *quality*, while the Evo has more of a *quantity*

This. It'd be silly of you, OP, to get the Evo due to it's successor the Evo 3D. Sure, the Evo has Sense 3.0 and cm7 support, but with the Evo 3D around the corner, the future of any more progression may not be so great. I say keep the Epic; the phone's community is growing more and more nowadays and the future of this phone will be much more rewarding, I guarantee.
Plus, we have Odin, so you never have to worry about bricking your phone.
Yeah, I talked to the guy and said No... I'll be sticking with the epic.... However, even though all the "evo guys left to 3d" they still have way more devs than we do. Some of their roms like Synergy look AMAZING, I really wish the Epic would get to that point in the near future.... I mean, epic is obviously a better phone, quadrant on gb pulls consistent 2800+ compared to evos bare 2100, but the Evo just has great roms...

Agreed on that. But wait until we have Gingerbread source and we should be getting some really good development.
EC05 got pretty good development, but right now our community just happens to focus on leaks more right now,
Once the leaks simmer down and Gingerbread is officially released w/ its source code and everything, we should be getting more goodies.
I really hope so... the only real devs we have are like the cm team and some of the miui team.....
Read the g1 forums. They got honeycomb and all kinds of twacked out crap. Mytouch 3g.... these phones don't get good TIL they are end of line.
{etrickery}
Strangely enough I still see a ton of people use the Evo 4G more so than ever even after this phone has been around for over a year now and really not too many Photons, Evo 3D's, or Epic 4G Touches. What makes our phone one of the most ubitiquous?
It would be if it sold on more carriers i bet. It was a revolution when it came out so it sold alot and continued doing well afte a price drop. Sadly im guess it will fade out when peoples upgrades come around since the evo isnt even 2 years old yet.
When the evo came it was was THE powerhouse. Now, most of the phones that come out are just dual core 1.2GHz something. Take away the second core, and you have an Evo. The Evo can still most things as the newer phones, just 'technically' slower. So like some games/apps may not work because they were optimized for dual core performance. I mean you can tether, wifi, 3g/4g...everything else the newer phone are doing, with the NFC only on the nexus. That's why most people are holding out on the evo.
It's because of XDA that the EVO is still holding strong
I believe Evo has the strongest dev community of any phone, and certainly the most longevity. It deserves it - it's the 1st superphone.

That's a fact...go look at any other of the XDA forums for other phones...none have as much going on there as far as active members, devs and posts and threads still being made. We have at least 10 threads with over 1 million plus views and some with over 2 million, most others only have a couple with a few hundred thousand views. The Evo has one hell of a community, something I will for sure miss whenever I jump to another phone next year when my contract runs out.

To me, I have compared my Rooted Evo to newer current phones and mines do the same thing. Still 8megpx camera, now with the newer twicks, panorama ect.
My 4G gives me steady 7 to 9mbps. I am running mix sense, and Gingerbread.
So. the way it is my phone is still good until August 2012 when my upgrade
Now also, with this app called " Jeannie" is just as good as the SIRI that the Iphone has. Now. we all know Iphone is not a match with a rooted EVO but that SIRI is cool. Jeannie is same if not better.
I have all apps that I need and still have over 160mp of free space of internal memory and over 4GB on the sd card. SO? what else I need?
IM sure, August 2012, the newer EVO then will be a Quad Core beast with camera of 10megapix and way much more...until then My EVO Rocks!!
