[Q] Blank APN screen after screen repair - G2 and Desire Z General

I recently damaged and then repaired my G2's screen. Since repairing and reassembling the phone my data has not been working, although I can make calls, receive texts and use wifi just fine. Is there a specific component which could have been damaged or perhaps not locked back in properly?
I've already went to my service provider, Wind Canada, to replace the sim card, that didn't fix the problem either. Any help would be appreciated! Not having data defeats the purpose of having a smartphone.

Connection Issues

Hello all.
Seeing if anyone has ideas on my issue before replacing my unit. About 3 days ago my T-Mobile Wing has a very difficult time connecting to the network. I do get some service but it is rare. In places I got service in the past I now get none.
Little about my phone, it is unlocked and not on T-Mobile anymore. I did a hard reset with no additional change. I threw my sim in another phone and get service so don't believe it is a service issue.
Any ideas on what I can do at this point. Thanks.

HTC Elf: Unable to make or take calls

Hi All,
I am new to this forum, however was using my HTC Elf for the past one year. All of sudden I started facing problem in making or taking calls. The Network on the screen remain full and complete still I am unable to make calls (i.e. the call drops, cannot be completed) or can't recieve the calls (i.e. caller gets my cell unavailable or switched off). This doesn't mean it happens always. Coincidently the calls are through without any problem at one go. The Authorized Service center at my city told me there was the problem with it's Network IC (I really don't know what's that) and he suggested me to sell of the phone asap. My cell is out of warranty so can't really offord to replace the mother board. I have upgraded the Radio ROM but is of no use.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
Many Thanks.
Which network are you on?
Do your friends face the same drop calls issue too?
Have you tried hard reseting it?
Please backup before hard reset.
HI Jeremy,
here in India I am on Airtel Network and no one face the drop call issues. This is absolutely the phone problem as the same SIM card works perfect in other phone. I had unlocked my phone, upgraded the Radio ROM and hard reset it, but the problem still persist.

Oh.
Mmm, I think the motherboard inside the phone has issues than.
You have tried all ways to clear the phone?
Have you tried other ROMS?
This issue seems to be popping up quite a bit recently. Or maybe that I've just started noticing it since I started having the same problem.
Yes Jeremy. I have tried all the versions of ROMs. And infact other simcard also act same in my phone. Even I believe that motherboard has some issue. The Service center had told me the "Network IC" problem (though I didn't believe that) and to replace the motherboard (without warranty) would cost me 70% of the handset cost.
No point repairing motherboard, must as well get a new windows mobile phone.
So yeah.
I ran out of ideas already.
The only thing I can help you with is to, backup all your contacts to Google Sync, get a new iPhone or O2, than use that same protocol to transfer your contacts and calender data and mails to your new phone.
Cheers.

[Q] how to update an "unlocked" phone

complicated story. recently purchased an "unlocked" optimus 7 phone off of kijiji and it was working on my fido simcard, but it only worked until i got home and synced with my computer played around with the simcard and battery and was alittle rough with it, then the "unlocked" phone detects no sim on my phone. had a feeling i got ripped off. but awkward enough i think i had a hand in making it not work (i tried putting the sim card in without pulling out the battery, so i suspected that i might have messed up the hardware)
few days later, plan was up for fido so i switched to telus, but because the plan i got did not include data, so i am not sure if it would actually connect with a "unlocked" telus phone, i just want confirmation from anybody that "Any sim card can work with Any telus phone?"
story aint over
hoping that it was my fault for only messing up with the software by attempting to unlock myself and that it had nothing to the hardware, i went to pacificmall to somebody reliable to solve my problem and asked to "re-unlock" it for me.
result was that he told me it might be a hardware issue, and that he tried other sim cards and phone had not detected any signal.
what happened later on was i attempted to fix hardware my self by looking to push the simcard holder down thinking that it might be because it was loose from be trying to jam the simcard in earlier.
end result, phone is now detecting my telus simcard, and so my main question now is "i dont know if its becuase it is unlocked that made it work, or do all telus sims work on all telus phones and i fixed my phone by some retarded method"
All Telus sims work on all Telus branded phones, no matter what you may have done to it.
not working anymore
after having reception for one day, it ain't working anymore.
can anyone provide any help? would it be a good idea to sent it to Lg for fix?
Dude, I don't know for sure, but you probably did a short-circuit on the SIM socket when you tried to insert the SIM with the battery connected =/

[Q] SIM not recognized after drop

Hi!
After a friend of mine dropped my Atrix, I'm having severe troubles getting it to run properly again. Main issue is that the SIM is not being recognized any more - I'm not prompted to enter a PIN, can make "Emergency Calls Only", and if I try to connecto to a provider manually, it tells me my SIM does not support it. The Antenna works fine, however, and the SIM works in another phone; also, a friend's SIM wouldn't work in mine.
There is very little external damage to the phone, and the drop was just about 1m onto stone, so I'm hesitant to believe the SIM connector broke. Is there any way I can be sure, i.e. would the pins on the connector have to have a certain voltage to them I could measure or similar?
Unfortunately, the phone has no warranty, as it was a pre-release gift from a Moto employee, so I can't just take it to a store and have it checked for free. (If any German can tell me: Is this expensive at all?)
Thanks for any advice!
David
Most likely the SIM is just not seating properly. Can you insert the SIM and keep pressure on it so it maintains contact while you power up? Your SIM should be fairly tight when inserted, and not move. Could be a contact problem now after dropping. The Atrix did have an issue with SIMS at release but I think this was more people not inserting the SIM correctly than an actual phone problem.
Nope, nothing. Still no service.
Sounds like the connector may have broken or come loose then.
And there is nothing I can do to check if this is the case or not?
Can't find anything. The following may help if you decide to strip it down to check for anything obvious:

Where is the antenna?

I tried to replace the broken screen by myself. However, after assembling them back, I got no signal for sim card.
It can read information from sim card, but no signal to make phone call or access to the Internet.
Did I break something, and is it easy to repair?
Thanks a lot.
